Working with GLM was hands-down the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. I'm forever grateful that a neighbor recommended them. We had some drainage/waterproofing issues that needed addressed, and when I found out the scope of their skills, we also hired them for a laundry list of things I had on my wish list since moving in a few years ago. These folks did it all for us! For starters, they repaired a brick wall in our front yard, installed a new sump pump drain pipe and exit, re-worked some existing exterior waterproofing that had been done sloppily in the past, and added a new concrete pad and drain by our back door. They even helped us track down an underground gutter leak and replaced the broken pipe. The showpiece job, however, is the stunning stone retaining wall, that they meticulously built by hand, across the back yard along with the new cement parking pad and stamped concrete border tapering it to our existing drive. The pictures don't do it justice (attached is a "before" photo for reference). Everything was done with great care and precision, using high-quality materials. The owner of the company, Deborah, was a gem to work with. She is super-passionate about the environment and the quality of work her company does. We worked with Gerardo and he was also fantastic. He had great ideas and suggestions in terms of practicality and design. He was also flexible with a few adjustments along the way. You can tell that these folks are truly experts in their field and take great pride in their work. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat! read more

Deborah is really inspiring and great professional! We called her for a quote and she was responsive, communicative, and really informative. I really liked that she sent calendar invites for her appointments and was really organized. We didn't end up working with her since our scope of work changed but I really admire the way she does business. read more

Last Spring and Summer, Green Lady Masonry & Drainage Solutions, owned by Deborah Rudolf, performed miracles on our yard. Our front walkway and porch are composed of brick and stone and had needed repointing, cleaning, and sealing for many years. The Green Lady team, headed by Gerardo, did such a beautiful job that people wondered if we had gotten a new walkway. Over the past few years our back yard had developed serious drainage problems. Our vegetable garden was always flooded, the back lawn was so wet that only some kind of strange weedy groundcover would grow there. We had invested in 3 large Yoshino cherry trees, and they were moribund. We are situated on a hillside, and the yard was washing away. The Green Lady team assessed our situation, installed a French drain, two simple drains, and two stone retaining walls. This Spring our cherry trees bloomed, and the trees are looking healthier. The lawn we refurbished last Fall is looking great. Deborah and Gerardo were great to deal with. Pandemic-related issues caused supply problems and many delays for everyone in Summer 2022, but Deborah set up realistic start dates from our first conversations; she didn't over promise to get our business. She kept us informed of schedule revisions as soon as she could, rather than hoping she could meet dates that became impossible. Over the years we've had major delays in projects when companies started earlier than they could realistically attend to a job, and then dragged out the work because they were juggling too many jobs at once. With Green Lady, work started on our walkway sooner than expected and was completed in two days. Once the drainage work started, the team was here every day and completed it quickly. I highly recommend Green Lady, and am looking forward to starting another project with them. read more

Deborah and Gerardo make an incredible team! I hired Green Lady to fix my broken flight of cement stairs and wall and beautify the stairs and walkway with stones. I was so happy that I had them tear up and repave my long driveway too! I could not have been more pleased with the finished product and the reasonable price! Both Deborah and Gerardo truly care about their clients and work hard to ensure they satisfy! I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

Although Green Lady offered to redo our driveway we would not have given them a second chance even if we had not sold our home and moved away. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so we'll let our pics tell the story of what you might receive if you hire Green Lady. Our concrete driveway was only 3-4 years old and neighbors who had their driveways done the same time by other companies were not showing the disintegration you can clearly see in these pics. Our trust in their business was obsolete after our entire experience with them. For example, after our driveway project started Deborah told us the original quote all parties signed was incorrect and hit us up to pay an additional amount. Since we already paid in full and had waited weeks and months for the job to start we felt we had sunk too much time and money and had no choice but to pay. After we brought attention to the disintegrating surface somehow it was not Green Lady's fault at all, but salt from the roads although we paid extra for them to seal the driveway surface. Deborah generously offered to apply Ardex.....for an additional fee which we ended up paying, but it was applied poorly and only added to the awful appearance of our "new" driveway. We have since moved, but for our new home we will only go with companies that have an A+ rating with BBB. read more

Wear and tear took its toll on our 35-year old brick sidewalks. Green Lady Masonry and Drainage Solutions power washed them, removed the old mortar, repointed them, and sealed them. They now look brand new. They also created a timber and gravel step path on the side of our house and addressed drainage issues in our backyard. Our house had significant drainage issues resulting in water damage to our foundation. The Green Lady team over the course of two weeks regraded our yard, installed a new expanded driveway and flagstone walkway, built a retaining wall, and fixed our foundation issues. Deborah has a great eye for design (and has even visited since the project was completed to give us landscaping ideas) and Gerardo and his team are pros. They not only did an amazing job (could not be happier with their work product), but worked with us throughout the process to address all of our concerns. Further, the entire time the team was here we were impressed by their professionalism and care. They were respectful of property both inside and outside of our home. We would highly recommend them and plan on using them for future projects. They are a busy team and it's tough to get on their calendar, but once they are working on your project you truly have their undivided care and attention. Their pricing is reasonable and they break out quotes into tranches in case you want to take on your project a chunk at a time. read more

We hired Green Lady Masonry and Drainage to build our concrete driveway, add stone to our walkway and steps and landing. Deborah and Gerardo listened and gave us options and pricing so that we can make informed decisions. They also made suggestions that vastly improved the project. We would recommend them to you all but more importantly I would recommend them to my friends, family and neighbors. read more

Missed an obvious issue that someone else found. More interested in selling me then fixing. Also the quote had obvious errors.

I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful Deborah is to work with. We haven't even hired her for our project yet, but she has been soooo much help to both my husband and me. She has taken an incredible amount of time to help us figure out the best plan forward and also to give us a better understanding of the construction process generally. You can tell she's a former educator! read more

For several months I scheduled estimate after estimate. I had a concrete driveway that had crack and sunk. This caused a major water problem everytime it rained. It doesn't help I'm on the downward slope of a pipestem. I couldn't seem to find anyone that would fix the entire problem. Landscapers wouldn't do concrete and concrete folks wouldn't do the landscaping. Then I stumbled across Green Lady and wow!! They where amazing from start to finish. I would use them again and have no issues recommending them for any job. read more

Green Lady Landscaping is a wonderful woman owned small local business that brings talent, customer service, professionalism, and vision to life in the form of beautiful landscape design and installation. I recently had Deborah Rudolph, owner of Green Lady come out to discuss the landscape in the front of my house. Her enthusiasm for the job as well as her design for a Pennsylvania stacked stone wall addition to the front of my house quite simply sold me. The plans were drawn up, community approval obtained, and a date set for the construction of the wall to begin. The was was constructed on site with each stone carefully laid with hidden mortar to ensure a lifetime of use and beauty. The work was done over the course of about 3 days, with the wall rising approximately 4 feet at the highest point. When she was ready to begin to fill the bed with plants and shrubs, Deborah texted me from nurseries all over northern Virginia sending pictures of the plants that she had found that she felt would look beautiful and thrive in the location in front of my home. She and her employees came with the plants, the flower bed was planted, with Deborah and her staff making good use of my existing plants, and adding beautiful specimens in to add color, height and texture. A secondary bed in front of the house, along with an island in the middle of the yard was created to add balance and color. The yard looks great, the work was timely, and the agreed to budget was kept. I have been in contact with Green Lady since then, and she has stopped by to check on plants, drop off plants and cuttings (at no charge) to fill out my back garden as well. I love the bed, but feel that the true value was working with Green Lady. She listened to what I wanted, the colors I loved, and the amount that I had to spend. She is energetic, knowledgeable, and embodies customer service. I will work with Green Lady again in the future when the time comes to tackle my back yard and patio. read more

Deborah and Gerardo made the experience of investing in our backyard a pleasure rather than a stressor, which is a feat in the current environment. We consulted with Deborah over the phone several times, and Gerardo in person in our yard once before developing a quote/proposal for a patio, walkway, and drainage issues, and signing on the dotted line. Both were responsive, professional, and very easy to work with. There was a waiting period before they contacted us the week/10 days before breaking ground, but it was a week shorter than Deborah had estimated, and not as long as it could have been during COVID. The week before breaking ground, Deborah contacted me by phone and email to walk through what the process would be in terms of utility marking, and walking through with Gerardo before breaking ground. The crew were here for a week, and maintained distance from my family (but welcoming/waving as my kids watched from the windows). They kept a tidy workspace and completed the work on time and at the price quoted. Gerardo took the time/expense to tie the patio and walkways into the existing spaces with matching gravel/extending an additional stepping stone to an existing side path to ensure water would not pool at the edge of the patio. My wife and I have had a lot of experience with house and yard projects over the last 10 years, and can confidently say that the experience with Deborah and Gerardo has been among the best. Both clearly enjoy what they do and do it well. We have a very functional, aesthetically appealing patio and walkways in our back yard. If we ever need similar work again, we would not hesitate to contact Green Lady. read more

I chose GLM after reading several Yelp reviews and hearing from a very popular real estate agent in our area that they were simply the best. Deborah and Gerardo were so wonderful to work with. This was a huge undertaking and the result has been nothing short of amazing. Communication is very important to me during a project like this and I was kept informed about everything throughout the process. When I had a question either Deborah or Gerardo would respond immediately. The workmanship was superior. The clean-up was better than I ever expected. Gerardo and the crew were always punctual, respectful and professional, willing to change directions or make changes as necessary. I am so happy I went with GLM. read more

We had the incredible fortune of working with Deborah Rudolph, Gerardo, and their team last year. They worked with us throughout the winter creating a cinderblock wall with stone veneer facing retention wall, a stone bed, pool patio surface renovation, concrete patio installation, shed renovation, two floor screened in porch renovation, and downspout/PVC pipe recreation and burial. Deborah was extremely helpful in providing guidance on what is required, and ideas about how to create a relaxing, functional, but incredibly appealing outdoor area for our home. She worked with my wife and I, incorporating our thoughts and wants into their planning, ensuring we stayed within our budget while providing the most appealing product possible. We met numerous times throughout our project to directly discuss materials and changes to the plan. This collaborative process helped to save money while really building a collaborative relationship. In addition to the hardscaping, Deborah provided very helpful information concerning drainage and our landscaping. Not only did they plant a number of flowers, ground cover, and shrubs, but also worked to eliminate unnecessary mulch, providing a much more appealing and balanced front and back yard. Deborah has even spent her free time at our home recently, discussing additional ground cover and plants we could use to build on their work last year. This kind of personal touch is difficult to find. The experience Deborah and Gerardo brought to my project was relevant from our first meeting and continued to show throughout the process. From our first interactions through the culmination of our project Deborah, Gerardo, and their entire team were polite, calm, and supportive. Their crew ensured a clean process, leaving the project not only completed with amazing detail, but also functional day to day. I can't say enough about how excellent our working relationship with Deborah and her team became. If I need anything done outside our home Deborah and Green Lady will be my first call. I will be adding before and after pictures to show off their capabilities and what an incredible team can produce. read more

Deborah is the best, hands down. The company is booking out a few months in advance, so contact her as soon as you think you need masonry or drainage work! We ended up needing the work done sooner than she could come out, but she spent 40 minutes on a Friday night walking me through the entire drainage process. She is an educator, and will take time from her day to make sure that you understand the potential issues at hand. I must have asked her dozens of questions, and she was patient in answering all of them. On a personal note, she is a delight! Smart, funny, kind, thoughtful, I would recommend her to anyone. Thank you, Deborah! :) read more

We chose to go with Green Lady (Deborah and Gerardo) largely based on Yelp reviews, and we were very happy with their work. We had a fairly straightforward drainage problem with water pooling in our front yard. Deborah was always very professional and was great at providing all the information we needed for the project. Gerardo and his team were top-notch as well, and made the whole project a smooth and trouble-free exercise--and most importantly, their work solved our drainage issues. I would use them again in a heartbeat and highly recommend them. read more

Deborah and Gerardo and the entire crew are total industry pros. They put in two retaining walls, two flagstone landings off our back deck, and rerouted some problematic drainage from the backyard to the front (street drain) side. We engaged the company on the recommendation of our neighbors, who could not have been more correct. The walls and drainage reconfiguration were the first major steps towards rehabilitating what was a badly-neglected backyard (we moved in a year ago, so we knew this was needed). Could not be happier with the results- now to rehab the soil! read more

During the 23+ years we've lived here, we have had landscape projects done from time to time, but none has compared to the Green Lady! Deborah Rudolph takes a holistic view of each project, addressing drainage, erosion, and deer issues in order to achieve an aesthetically beautiful landscape that is environmentally respectful and will endure over time. Last summer, Deborah and her outstanding crew transformed our overgrown, uninspiring landscape in the front of our house into a beautiful, inviting garden (not just to us but to the butterflies as well!), all with less than a week's notice, finishing in time for a large family gathering. This spring, we are excited to embark on much larger landscape projects with her -- both in front and in back of our house -- which will include masonry work by her partner Geraldo Cruz. I agree 100% with other reviewers about the factors that differentiate the Green Lady from the competition: OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE: Deborah went out of her way to accommodate our request for a landscape transformation on very short notice. She met with us in the evenings, she drove me around to other projects that she had completed so I could better understand her ideas, and she re-arranged her work schedule and that of her crew in order to get the work done in time for an unexpected family gathering. From project beginning to end, Deborah and all of her crew members have been extraordinarily courteous and professional! EXCELLENT CLIENT COMMUNICATION: There will be no surprises in any project that the Green Lady undertakes, Deborah truly collaborates with her clients in order to accomplish their objectives, not hers. She begins by listening carefully, explaining what is feasible, suggesting alternative plans if infeasible, presenting itemized costs, revising plans based on our feedback, and keeping us informed every step of the way during project execution. FRUGAL & ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPECTFUL USE OF MATERIALS: Cost consciousness and environmental impact are the foundation of every project that the Green Lady undertakes. No dyed mulch or PCP drain pipes in her projects! Designs that will not only please her clients, but will also attract butterflies, birds, and bees are important to Deborah. But she never tries to upsell! She explains the possibilities, but completely understands and respects budgetary constraints. Indeed, she plans to split many of her plantings from last year to use in this year's project rather than purchasing new plants. My husband and I very much appreciate her "no pressure" approach! Ultimately, Deborah's cost consciousness results in very reasonable prices as compared to the competition. SUPERB DESIGN: Deborah has an amazing design sense, using a wide variety of color, texture, and size to create an extraordinary landscape. With Geraldo's assistance, she uses fieldstone, river rock, and other natural materials to create unique hardscape designs that enhance both the beauty and longevity of the landscape design. Together, she and Geraldo achieve amazing results! We are so happy to have found the Green Lady! read more

Green Lady Team (Deborah, Geraldo and their team members) did a wonderful job for my yard last week. My house is situated at the bottom of a steep long driveway. All rain water from the above streets flows down to my side yard "killing" grass and causing an unbearable condition. I need an effective solution to tackle the situation. I have consulted many contractors but no one can bring me the comfort assuring the problem would be resolved. I saw the Green Lady team worked in my neighborhood. After speaking with Deborah, my wife and I immediately felt that we should give them a try. They installed an underground drainage pipe system and built a water retaining wall with a stone floor. It is fantastically built not only functional but also artistic. Besides the drainage part, they also planted two Chinese Fringe trees to take care of additional water from other paths. We cannot wait to see how it works when heavy rain comes. We strongly recommend them. Deborah and her team came back the past week ( 4/10/2017 - 4/12/2017) to add a walled garden serving both as a water "barrier" as well as a beatification landscape. Again, the wall was built exceptionally by professional masonry masters. And the garden designed by Deborah has an artistic layout that making my previously slanted landscape visually "elevated". Fantastic job done. Thanks to Green Lady Team. read more

Bottomline: Could not be more pleased with the service provided by the Green Lady team. We started this job in SEP15, but ran out of time - so it carried over to this Spring. Just finishing up in APR16. The crew is co-led by Debra and Gerardo. She handles the landscaping and Gerardo the stone masonry/anything else. They have a crew of super employees - work hard, competent, and professional. Debra and Gerardo were terrific in helping to shape the end look for the yard and provided terrific ideas along the way to improve the project throughout. Debra led the interaction with us and helped inform us with the relevant information we needed to make decisions. They were very knowledgeable, professional, and accessible. Some specifics: Initially they took out two large trees that had outgrown our property and a bunch of boxwoods. The work was done professionally and they pulled out the roots to preclude any future issues. During the root extraction two of the pipes for my sprinkler system were damaged and they fixed them quickly. Also, I live on a slope and my yard gets swamped, so they put some PCV pipes on the downspouts to allow the water to funnel directly to the forest behind my house. Its noticeably different now it terms of the water saturation in the soil. Next, they did the construction and built two front walls, which look terrific. Then they planted the shrubs and other plants. I'm very happy with the finished product (and my wife is very happy we got rid of the two trees and boxwoods in the front yard). I challenge anyone to find a better product out there. If you're looking for a superior product at great price (that's what I call best value) I recommend you give Debra a call. You won't be disappointed. Description of work: - Redid the landscape around my house. - Cleared out existing trees/shrubs - Installed PCV piping in downspouts - Put in rocks underneath back porch - Built two stone walls in the front yard - Put in numerous bushes and trees (crape myrtle, red bud) - Redid front walkway Quick follow up: - Debra stopped by last week to let me know that I was having a june bug problem, she dropped off some spray to help address that issue. Pretty neat that she periodically checks out the plants to ensure that they are doing well. Terrific service. read more

We just had some landscape and drainage work done by Deborah (the Green Lady) and her crew. I could not have been more pleased with the result. They did such a beautiful job that several of my neighbors have remarked on how pretty it is. The drainage problems I had are permanently fixed. The crew was very professional, finished quickly and cleaned up everything perfectly. I chose not to have her install any plants, but she gave me some recommendations for what to plant and when to do it. Before engaging Debra I went with her to some of her prior customers to observe the finished work and talk with the homeowners. I was very impressed with what I saw and heard. I admit I did not price shop, but, consider the price I paid quite reasonable considering the work the crew did. I know that if I ever again need landscape work, I will call Deborah and no one else. One of the rudest ladies I have ever talked to, wouldn't recommend business with her and would advise to avoid her at all costs.

I still get compliments on the patio and related work that Green Lady did for me last year (2017). Deborah was fun to work with and Gerardo and the masonry crew really did skilled work. Deborah suggested I add a rock edge to complement the existing knee wall and Gerardo convinced me to keep and relay the existing stone with a few creative touches. Saved me some money and looks great! Spent in the $15 to 20,000 range total. I would use them again. read more

Meh. Seems to have changed owners or managers. No consistency at all. All the things we discussed were not included despite extensive discussion and assurances that it was included in the abbreviated contract. Crew left lots of damage to my property that were supposed to be repaired and weren't, plus they left bags and bags of trash and took a bunch of my own materials to finish the job. Worst was the crew complaining every day they were not being paid a living wage - what was I supposed to do when the owner was taking half of the price paid? Very uncomfortable situation and paid extra to clean up and do repairs to their damage. read more

STONE TERRACES, UNDER-DECK PAVER PORCH AND SHADE GARDEN on steep slope From the start, Deborah Rudolph and her partner Gerado Cruz were prompt, courteous, and enthusiastic about reusing materials in my hardscape. They were creative and came up with extraordinary design options that were perfect for our property. All planning was reviewed with me personally and completed by Gerado and his crew. The crew were polite, always well-mannered and I was informed when they would be on premises or not, (if it was a rainy day). Deborah met with me may times to create design options for renovating a paver patios, stone and concrete block terraces and landscaping for my backyard. We were presented with an itemized Service Proposal that was easy to understand and reasonably priced. We went forward with the project and we rewarded with a magnificent, customized job that is not only functional and just beautiful. We completed the project on time. We are now able to enjoyable moments on our porch and backyard thanks to Green Lady. The points that make the Green Lady stand apart from other companies are: EXCELLENT CLIENT COMMUNICATION The initial Service Proposal was itemized with each section broken out to reflect the area to be completed. I was informed of the progress as each stage progressed. Deborah and Gerado consider long-term benefits in their planning, not just immediate issues. My opinion was respected and included in every facet of the design and, material choice and installation in every step of the work. SUPERB DESIGN Both masonry and landscape design was innovative, functional, and out of the box creative. FRUGAL USE OF MATERIALS Green Lady utilized a huge pile of rocks/boulders left over from the previous installation that the contractor left behind in their flagstone walls. They reused all the concrete block and pavers as well. CONSISTENT DAILY CLEAN-UP OF WORK-SITE, OVERALL CLEANLINESS OF WORKMEN AND MATERIALS My project encompassed both the front and back of my house over many weeks, so daily upkeep was essential. The crew cleaned up their tools and materials daily and when the whole project was finished even the driveway was power-washed. REASONABLE PRICE Compare their prices with any other contractor and find that for their service and top of the line materials they are very well priced. PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, WORK ETHIC AND PERSONAL AND COMMON SENSE I highly recommend working with Green Lady Landscape Design and Masonry. read more

Unreliable, and wasted my time. I engaged with several landscapers with varying degree of success. Green Lady stands out as the most unreliable one. I had an email exchange and a couple of phone conversations with Deborah and she came across as less interested in understanding my needs than communicating how proficient and busy their business was. However I did not want to rush to judgement. Then came the matter of scheduling an appointment to visit and understand what I needed done. Again I was very flexible with my schedule, taking it on face value that they are busy and worked to accommodate them. I even got a calendar appointment confirming their visit, which I thought was nice and professional. However on the day of the appointment, I took time off from work, and no one showed up. No cancellation, no call, nothing. Simply a - "no show". No other landscaper treated me in this manner. read more

Deborah Rudolph, aka Green Lady, is a breath of fresh air when it comes to landscape design and installation! I wanted a small (in height) but long retaining wall built and almost all of my overgrown bushes removed that I have hated for 20 years. I called several companies and all gave me the same "cookie cutter" design recommendation! I saw a flyer from Green Lady Landscape and thought I have nothing to lose and gave her a call. She is refreshing because she is so passionate about her work. She truly loves to plant and create and even enjoys weeding! She and I came up with a beautiful garden, the masonry expert who works with her, Gerardo and his crew, did a beautiful job building my wall, complete with steps, as well as replacing my asphalt driveway with concrete. After only 9 months and our last horribly snowy winter my garden is gorgeous and looks more established than others that are older. Deborah could do what the cookie cutter companies couldn't do-think outside the box, truly considering all aspects of the garden and the look. I would highly recommend her, my garden as proof of her abilities. read more
