Late in the summer of '24, we started to see a few cracks developing in our home. No big deal - it's 70+ years old, cracks happen. And then they kept happening, getting larger and spreading throughout the entirety of the house, and we could no longer open the doors in the basement and 1st floor on the south side of the house. Alarmed, I called a civil engineer and had an assessment done. They ascertained our house was sinking, particularly in one corner, and recommended ~30 push piers around the perimeter and up the centerline of the house... for over $100k. I literally laughed at him and asked him who he thought I was that he thought I could afford that. I called a few other places and got questionable assessments, and then I spoke with Yos from DMV. What a breath of fresh air. He was personable and honest. He recommended we get a 3rd party civil engineer to produce a report with drawings that I could use for any foundation company - even if I didn't go with DMV. We (finally, after a loooong delay on the civil engineer's part) got the report and drawings, and Yos and his team began work in early January to install ~10 helical piers on the sinking corner of the house. It was a pretty invasive project, but his team was fantastic. Fast forward 5 months and the cracks have stopped appearing, with a number of them even closing. We are very satisfied with the work DMV did for us, and are particularly pleased with their honesty. Where one company tried to sell us an overkill solution for six figures, Yos was upfront and told us what we really need - to address that affected area and revisit others if they end up being an issue - for roughly a quarter of the other company's price. DMV Foundations provided a variety of basement, crawlspace, and exterior services over a few-month engagement. Their team members were communicative, professional, and highly skilled. Their activities included: - Closing-off exterior vent openings that were no longer needed - Parging interior walls - Removing a very large, very old oil tank from the crawl space - Adding a retaining wall to prevent dirt from collecting under the stairs - Adding a custom crawl space door to improve access - Underpinning and adding new support posts - Replacing old insulation - Fully encapsulating the crawl space - Updating the slope of the brick sidewalk to keep water from pooling at the home's foundation We are very pleased with the results and found the price to be reasonable. It's criminal that you have to look so hard for this company. Any foundation questions you have, send it their way. They are honest workers and they know what they are doing. I had Russell come out to check on a horizontal crack in my basement drywall and after some questioning and inspecting, he determined that it was due to a shoddy work done by waterproofing company when they patched it up. My alternative was $36k anchors bolted around the basement, presented by a PowerPoint to sell their product by another "famous" foundation company. Russell made a recommendation to push the water from the sprout further away to prevent any damage in the future and I intend on doing that this summer with these guys. We bought an older house that had sections of crawl space that were enclosed only with plastic latticework. Not surprisingly, the area under the house was a mess and we needed someone to enclose and encapsulate the space. DMV were great from start to finish. Their quote to do the work was much less than that of their competitor, they kept in touch throughout the project with regular updates and their employees were always there as scheduled. When the building inspector required further work to meet local codes, DMV was quick to respond. The result is a professional job that has not only made our home warmer this winter but much more attractive. read more

We used Yos and his team for two jobs. One was to do waterproofing of a portion of an exterior wall where we had had some leakage into our basement. The second was to install a drain for our new porch to ensure better dispersal of water from a downspout. Yos spent a good deal of time, explaining clearly what they proposed to do. Both jobs were done expertly, with the teams answering any questions we had. They were extremely conscientious in cleaning up the work site: we could hardly tell that they had been there. Had a great experience with Yos and his team. We had them out to inspect a portion of our foundation where we had some water leakage during a recent storm. I appreciated that someone who does the actual work came out and did the inspection. We had several other companies come out that tried to steer us away from certain options, and I felt like Yos was the only one who gave us an honest assessment about our options and didn't try to steer us in any one direction. We opted to do a dig out, french drain install and exterior waterproofing. The team came out over three days and were very neat and clean overall. The price was also great compared to other companies like Value Dry or JES. I'd definitely call Yos and his team again. read more
