The mason himself was great, but the owner and his son not so much. They charged $5,200 for a half day's work, which was to include the painting of the back wall of my house. The son painted over only the spots where work was done, and of course the paint didn't match, so it was necessary to hire painters to re-do the work. read more

I contacted Patrick and he was quick to respond. He came by my house and looked at the poor condition of my patio and although I was requesting a simple cheap fix, he was up front and informed me that while he could do the work, that it would not be in my best interest because the problems would continue and I would be back at square one. Had a spreading crack and missing mortar from the bricks on the side of my townhouse, possibly as a result of the earthquake back in April, and the subcontractor Patrick brought in repaired all of that, with cement to match the original. They had to replace one brick, not a trivial thing given that nobody makes that size and color of brick anymore. At Patrick's suggestion, I also had them replace the mismatched cement on the front of the house, where I'd had some similar cracked/missing mortar replaced after the 2012 earthquake. The subcontractor's crew did a remarkably thorough, skilled job, and the total cost was well below two of the other three estimates I'd gotten. It wasn't super-cheap, but work done was well worth the expense. read more

Patrick and Myles are excellent and transformed by back patio from dirt to a back yard I actually want to spend time in. They leveled the yard, buried the French drains, and laid a beautiful herringbone pattern brick patio. They used sand, not concrete, between the bricks. And left areas for you plants along the border. They were fast - and while there were some communication issues (get the contract, pay dates and deposit value in advance!) the end product is beautiful.
