I contacted David, to get an estimate of brick repair work on and around my home and property. After getting a reasonable quote and a handshake we sealed the deal. Within a week, David called me and scheduled to come and star the process, the crew arrived at 7:00 AM Monday morning replacing numerous bricks which had their face falling off on our home and stoop area. Tore down a rebuilt retaining walls on both sides of our walkout basement. The did an amazing job and cleaned up afterwards pretty quickly to our satisfaction. David Ricard's team built a new retaining wall for our Northeast DC rowhouse, and skillfully resurfaced our cracked old cement front steps with thermaled Virginia bluestone for a fair price, and with only five days of hard work. They did a nice job with tricky details like concave curved cuts in stone. Other contractors had quoted us twice as much, or had less of a CAN-DO attitude. The work was done in 2017, and looks just as good four years later. David is a good communicator, and fun to chat with while work is underway too. His skilled team members are professional and pleasant too. I wish all contractors were this good. My only regret is not hiring him sooner. read more

When you are making repairs to your home, you want to make sure you are hiring someone who will treat it (and you!) with the utmost respect and care. David lived up to his amazing reviews 100% - he is a gentleman who is honest, hardworking, and does a great job. Backstory: DC Water had to dig up our old (lead) water pipe and replace it. In doing so, they knocked out half of our front garden brick retaining wall. Their subcontractors sent out to "fix" the wall did indeed rebuild it...in a way that would make any real mason shudder. It was not level, uneven, and the tuckpointing was poorly done. The entire wall had to be torn up and re-built...again. We used Yelp's handy dandy "request a quote" service (seriously, if you haven't used that feature on Yelp yet, what are you waiting for?!) and got quotes from 5 different mason/concrete repair places. Of all the quotes, David was the best price and the most prompt in following up. David, his brother Jonathon, and another gentleman did the job in two half days (demo the first, rebuilding the second). The brick wall looks so much better than it did before. A car ran into the back of my house in a freak accident, destroying 10 feet of low brick wall and punching a hole in the brick exterior of my house. Dave's crew did an amazing job with the house repair and the wall rebuild. They patiently cleaned up old bricks to reuse so that there was a reasonable match instead of using new brick which would have been so much easier. Dave has also installed some flagstone in my front walk. Their work is impeccable. Repair existing stone walkways and build a 30 foot stone retaining wall. I got three estimates. David was the only one who spent time explaining the details of the job. The only one who said a reinforced footing was needed to prevent the wall from moving due to freezing/thawing over time. Also explained the differences in types of mortar to be used in repairing the walkways (confirmed by online search) and gave me tips on cleaning the walkways. NEVER USE A POWER-WASHER! I'm not quite sure where they are getting all these five star reviews. I tried to work with David for three weeks to come to my house to replace my sidewalk. He cancelled the first two appointments at the last minute. Finally, on the third appointment, he schedule for 7:30AM for the following Saturday. So I think to myself, okay, third time's the charm right? On Thursday and Friday, I both called and texted David to confirm the 7:30AM appointment. He didn't reply back to my text nor picked up my phone call. Basically he ghosted me. From my conversations with him, this is a company that only chases after profit at all cost. In other words, he will schedule you for an appointment but if a bigger contract comes up last minute, he will just blow you off without any explanation. What boggles my mind is that the company is based in Woodbridge, which is where I live. They are just down the street from my house. Very unprofessional.
