I paid almost $2,000 for them to "Pressure wash front porch and steps to remove discoloration. Use muriatic acid to remove white efflorescence stains. Chisel out and reset 1 loose stone on steps. Reset 1 additional stone on porch which is loose". Soon after it was done, I noticed white efflorescence stains are not completely gone, in fact one of the places looks almost the same as it did. Also, the loose stone on the step is not attached...It is already loose and I can see that it is not connected to the step below...there's a gap. I brought this to their attention about a month after the job was completed. They said they would send someone back out. I've followed up and they said again they would send someone that week. Well, that week has past and nobody has come and nobody has contacted me. read more

DO NOT USE this company. I placed a substantial deposit down for masonry work and a month later (and just two weeks before they were due to start work) they canceled my contract, claiming DC immigration enforcement made it impossible for them to do the job. This is unprofessional and also effectively means I gave them an interest-free loan of my money for several months. I requested my deposit money returned and will update this review if I do not receive it in a timely fashion. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Use a company that has a legal workforce and knows how to run a business. Would give no stars if that was an option. read more

Capital Masonry had to remove concrete from a previous contractor I hired that did a terrible job and repour the foundation. They arrived on time and completed the project on-time and on budget. This is the second time we have called on Capital Masonry to work on our 65-year-old property in Arlington, and we have been extremely pleased each time. This summer they replaced a cracked concrete patio and a sunken sidewalk, and repaired a crumbling concrete footing for an air conditioner condenser. The crew of four men worked long hours for several days, breaking up and removing the old patio and walk and creating the new ones. The results are like night and day. Shop around for the best price, but I just can't imagine you'll get better service anywhere. (I have posted a few "before and after" photos.) read more

We had Capitol Masonry do some masonry pointing on our 1938 townhouse. I was blown away by their knowledge and their technical expertise. I called for a quote and Garrett got back to me quickly. When he came to view our property, I was impressed with his expertise and his approach to what we needed. They did the work when they said they would and how they said they would. The crew was professional and cleaned up well. I have since recommended them to a neighbor who was also really, really happy with their work on her project. I had my backyard patio done years and years ago and you could tell. There was SO much wear and tear and the stone slats started to break apart and crumble. It made it hard to walk on because you were worried about tripping and it was quite unsightly. This hard-working crew came out and did an amazing job updating my back patio. It looks better than it ever did and they worked so hard! I love the look and how well it turned out. PERFECT!!!! Capital Masonry was tasked with removing another contractor's wreck of an installation of slate in front of our house. Mike and his team rescued us from a hellish experience. All slate was removed, cleaned and reinstalled properly. The expertise of Artemio and Rene is greatly appreciated by us. Truly a beautiful finished job. Beautiful pattern, very accurate grout lines and level. All promises were met or exceeded. We will be using Mike again for other projects in our back yard. While I realize everyone seemingly a critic these days and some people having the time to write hundreds of reviews, I am not one of them. That being said, if you make it on my yelp, you are pretty special. Capital Masonry earns my highest respect and I couldn't be happier with the work from Mike and his crew. I found Capital Masonry simply by looking through Angie's List reviews (which has not always worked out well for me) but his company is one of the extreme few that exceeded my expectations. Am I unreasonable? No. It's just unfortunately very difficult to find specialty contractors that perform high quality work at a fair price, much less also being responsive to calls/requests and show up on time. Mike and crew was was always punctual and worked tirelessly until the job was complete. All of the masonry and concrete work came out great - which I realize was not easy task to blend on a house built in 1936. I will definitely use again. read more

The owner of Capital Masonry, Mike Cadle, responded timely to our request for repair work needed to several exterior hardscape areas of our 1950 brick ranch home. We had asked each contractor to submit suggestions / bids that would keep with the existing hardscape "look" and also maintain the quality and longevity of the areas. Mr. Cadle arrived on time and spent a good amount of time walking our property, making suggestions on the best approach to repairing damaged and deteriorating areas of the hardscape to stay within our budget without sacrificing quality or aesthetics. We had had others that only "encouraged" us to completely demolish the areas needing repair and rebuild for tens of thousands of dollars. Others submitted bids to just basically add mortar where needed. While Mr. Cadle's bid was not the least expensive, it was comprehensive, reasonable, timely and aligned most closely with our desire to keep with existing aesthetics and still assure the areas would last another 20 years or more. Mr. Cadle willingly and patiently came out several more times to address other questions we had and make more suggestions. Each of his detailed written estimates were easy to understand and delivered with 24 hrs. The cost of and the date to begin the work was agreed upon, and Mr. Cadle and his team showed up exactly when he said they would for all 3 days it took to complete the job. The crew showed up 8:30a and worked constantly and diligently until 6:30p the first two (and I might add, very hot) days. We had to "force" them to take a break for lunch. The completed the job early afternoon of the 3rd day. Each member of the crew was polite, professional, and conscientious with respect to their work and the cleanliness of the job site. First, they pressure washed all of the areas to be repaired, which made a huge difference in the aesthetics before the work even started. They paid special attention to how the flagstone on the rear patio was laid so that drainage would not be an issue. They worked hard to protect, to the best of their ability, existing landscape to minimize damage. After the work was completed, they pressure washed everything again and - WOW - it looked like we had a brand new walkway, flagstone patio, and stairs in the front and rear of our property! Mr. Cadle called the day after the work was completed to arrange a time that he could meet with us to walk the areas and ensure we were completely satisfied or address any concerns. Everything turned out much better than we had actually anticipated and we are very, very pleased. He did not ask for any money or payment until after the work was completed and we were completely satisfied. I've included before and after pictures of the areas where the work was done. We would not hesitate to and will most certainly call Mr. Cadle / Capital Masonry for all future hardscape projects. Highly, highly recommend this excellent company. read more

We recently had a flagstone patio and walk installed. The entire process from obtaining an estimate to completion of the work was professionally done. Our estimate arrived via e-mail within an hour of the site visit. Both Mike and Gilbert were always available to answer questions. The resulting work met all of our requirements and is beautiful! In a world where most contractors seem not to need your business, Capital Masonry was such a refreshing change....Mike, the owner, came himself to inspect the job and did everything he said he would, on time, for the price he quoted.
