So happy with out fireplace. This company has great communication and they completed in 2 visits. My fireplace was in bad need of repair with cracks and unusable dampner and they did a great job. They even fit me in before Christmas ahead of schedule. Wasn't cheap but considering amount of work done I think it's been totally worth it. We wanted to get our Chimney inspected. It took about two months for me to get my inspection appointment. They don't follow up on paperwork easily. I had to call back to receive my invoice. I called again so that I could make an appointment for the work they said need to be done on the outside of our Chimney. Still waiting for a response. This is something that has to be done in warmer weather because of the bricks and outside Chimney work. I will update my review when the job is completed. Which includes setting up an appointment for the additional work need outside of my Chimney with the brick work. I do appreciate their honesty about for safety reasons to not use the fireplace. read more

Blackburn Chimney was a fantastic experience from start to finish! My consult before the quote with Eddie was very satisfying because he's a straight shooter and very knowledgeable. He even referred me to an unaffiliated professional so that I could get another opinion about my problematic double-sided fireplace. Contracting and deposit payments were all done electronically making things very convenient and they were able to get me scheduled for the work within a couple days of signing the contract. Crew #1 for flue relining came in HOT! Right on time; two trucks, a crew of 4+ guys. They set up their extensive operation in the front yard in the blink of an eye; likewise for prepping my rooms with tarps and tenting (they moved so fast, they tented over my home office desk that I needed to use that afternoon but Mario made sure it was uncovered for me on time). I had a flue lining that had made home inspectors and other contractors gasp in horror! Blackburn's crew was like a machine and got the work done in one day because rain was forecast the following day. Crew #2 for refacing the tile front of the fireplace were true artisans. They managed to remove the existing tile face with no damage to the hearth and the tile cuts were meticulously accurate around the wood mantle. The pattern of my tile choice was a bit intricate but they made it flow perfectly and the grouting (Eddie picked the color) was the perfect color and installed beautifully. Brian came later for finishing work that was just the cherry on top! He painted the inside of the firebox, re-set my gas log set and did a fantastic job "dressing" the log set with rock wool "embers" that look 1,000% better than before. All members of the Blackburn crew including Alexandra in the office communicate well and let you know what to expect each step of the way - and they check in after to make sure you're satisfied. I cannot recommend Blackburn Chimney enough for their professionalism, beautiful craftmanship and fair and transparent pricing. We called them because we had a leak in the house where the chimney met the roof. Eddie climbed onto the roof and took pictures and video to show us the state of the chimney and that it was indeed what caused the leak. He didn't pressure or upsell me, as other companies did, and even encouraged getting another opinion to make me feel comfortable that the work was what needed to be done. The quote was very fair and transparent, and came in within our budget. They were able to schedule me in very quickly with a warm stretch of Feb weather. Not only did Blackburn Chimney do a great job converting my woodburning fireplace to gas, but Eddie is a guy of great knowledge and integrity. I had had other chimney companies come give estimates and Eddie used a video I saved from another company to save me money of having to do needless video work all over again. He is a straight shooter as others have said and has been in the business a long time. He knows what he is talking about and his guys are excellent and thorough. Eddie and Will came out and had to rebuild from the crown down about 4 feet or so, as the brick from Levitt (in place since 1969) was palling (flaking). We use our fireplace every night during the winter, so it gets a lot of wear and tear. Every time we have a chimney cleaning the company tries to sell something very expensive. As a result, I have previously had little to no trust in these companies. Until now. Eddie and Blackburn Chimney are now by go-to chimney company because Eddie is professional, honest, and trustworthy. We had two bricks in our firebox come loose, so we knew we needed repairs. We obtained 3 estimates and all recommended re-building the firebox. I chose Eddie because he explained the options and his recommendation in a straight-forward way. Eddie didn't try to claim that the floor of the firebox also should be re-built -- that could be re-pointed. He didn't try to sell me on painting the firebox; he said he would do it, but it was a lot of money just to make it all black! His knowledge of the industry shined through. Blackburn also had reasonable prices. It was great working with Eddie and a small company. Eddie even dropped by at the end of the day to check on the work his bricklayers had done.
