I have used American Chimney and Masonry twice in last five years. Five years ago I had them rebuild my firebox on the fireplace. Their pricing was fair and they did an excellent job. Then a few months ago I needed an inspection of the fireplace for my HOA. Again their pricing was fair, they were punctual and did an excellent job. They are my go-to fireplace people. I recommend them highly!! read more

It was time to replace our wood burning insert (which we had previously converted from an open wood burning fireplace) with an electric fireplace. I looked at three known fireplace businesses in the area including the company that put in my current insert. I chose American Professional for many reasons. Initial contact was competent and courteous. The assessment was performed by Lyle who was knowledgeable and always available before, during and after the sale. The installation was super professional. The team that came to the house put plastic around the job site (floor to ceiling), ensured that I understood what was happening at each step and the end result was amazing! Best overall value with best price for a better product! I heartily recommend this company based on my personal experience. I couldn't be happier with my experience! read more

This is an amazing company. I had some water damage on a wall and I called the company that installed my roof. They then told me that the chimney needed a cap. I put a bid on Home Depot (rookie mistake) and had 2 contractors say I needed a cap that could be installed for $900. That didn't seem thorough so I called evolution chimney. They had a young man and his partner came out and they went in the basement and to the roof and told me all the work I needed done. They had to add a new and wide liner, fix the deteriorating staccato, ensured that there was no chance of carbon monoxide and of course the cap. It was well worth the investment. The first appointment I had there was a scheduling mishap so the woman that took my call offered to deploy an emergency weekend team but I opted to reschedule for the next week. The work was done in a few hours. I was worried about squirrels still getting into the attic so I put a metal trap up there but nothing has been in the attic since and no water seems to be coming through the wall. Highly recommend. read more

Removed an old chimney, quickly and efficiently. They did excellent work.Excellent value!

More stellar work from the APC team, very impressed. Chimney top was falling apart on our house with very steep roof. They set up a solid scaffolding system and also used planks to secure it that did no damage to our new roof and ridge vent, which was highly appreciated! New work looks great, they used a mix of brick shades at our request to match the existing work. Great communication, great guys on-site, really just a perfectly professionally job at a very reasonable price! -Tim W. Silver Spring read more

Had another company from Elkridge come out and give me a $16,000 estimate. I had Stefan from American come out, he put a camera up the flue and I was able to see everything. He explained to me what I was looking at and how there was nothing structurally wrong. He pointed out a few minor issues that are easy to fix. So glad I got a second opinion, I would definitely recommend them. read more

Brian Sanders just left my house after cleaning and caring for my wood stove. They came out and did an inspection in 2022, which was fine, nothing to write home about. Ever since, I get monthly CRM emails from them asking me to review them online. I thought the emails would logically stop coming at some point. Eighteen months of this, I unsubscribed from the relentless emails from American Professional Chimney & Masonry Service. I still received them. I reported as spam, and I still received them. I used this service once and for two years, have been pestered by them. I went from an agnostic former customer to one that is pretty annoyed by the business' behavior to recruit online reviews. read more

We wanted our chimney repaired. Many of the morter joints were missing. Of three quotes, they were the only that didn't suggest rebuilding the Chimney. Instead they recommended cleaning out and replacing the morter. Their price was considerably lower than the others. They did a professional job, were on time and cleaned up when they were done. I would highly recommend them. read more

As we prepared to sell our house in mid 2023, we wanted our chimney serviced for a cleaning and inspection. APC&M responded promptly and came over within a few days. The representative was very neat, worked fast, asked us pertinent questions, and took no longer than an hour. Luckily our chimney was a bit dirty but in good shape. He cleaned up after himself and we were very pleased at how easy and smooth the whole experience went. Cost was very reasonable too and I never felt like they were trying to upsell me anything. Have recommended them to friends. read more

I'm updating my review from a few days ago. Let me start by saying sorry to American professional chimney. Emphasis on professional. I used American professional chimney in 2022 and they did phenomenal work. I was very comfortable reaching out to them again to provide recent service in 2024. Through Google I contacted American chimney notice, The title doesn't contain the word professional. It is very important to note this. Both companies with similar names have locations within 5 minutes of each other in Silver Spring. When you contact American chimney, they will try to impersonate American professional chimney. Make sure you note the difference. American professional chimney is a very reputable company. They have professional employees in with marked trucks containing company logo and decals. American chimney sends out one guy in his personal vehicle. Speak poor English and communicate via text. They'll tell you that they worked for you before and even pretend that they have two locations, one in Silver Spring and one in Hyattsville. Their hope and goal is to steal away business from American professional chimney. Just make sure you note the difference in the name... If you want a professional to handle your chimney services, contact American professional chimney. You can even ask to speak to Stefan who will take care of you. Whatever you do don't call American chimney because you'll be sorry you did. read more

Called this company in April 2024 about a problem with water leaking into my home. Making the appointment was easy and quick, and the guys came out on time. After a brief survey of the interior, they then got up on my 2 story roof and surveyed my chimney. They quoted me a repair price that was thousands less than another company in my area. They came back out within a week, reset (10) courses of brick on my chimney, put on a new crown on and a stainless steel chimney cap. I am extremely pleased with the work, and would recommend them to anyone needing brick or chimney repair. Steve H. Fulton, MD read more

We recently bought a historic home with chimney issues. We had another company perform an inspection, who then insisted it would require a huge and expensive rebuild of a large portion of the chimney because of a wythe they couldn't get around. Naturally we needed a second opinion. American Professional Chimney (Mike) came out fast and at no cost. They did a thorough inspection, were super knowledgeable, and then helped us come up with options. They ended up relining one flue which the other company said wasn't possible without custom parts and ripping down the chimney. They also raised the chimney to make it compliant with the code. Communication and scheduling with Victor was great too. If you have chimney issues you should call these guys. Very high quality workmanship and very fair price. No upselling. Super easy recommendation. read more

About a year and a half ago, Dave Myers relined my chimney. He did FANTASTIC work at a very reasonable cost! He also did some masonry work for me and repaired some bricks on my house and waterproofed everything. He is extremely meticulous with his work and makes sure everything is done perfectly! I'm so delighted with what he did! Everything is holding up beautifully! His two coworkers, who did the masonry work, did a wonderful job! I want to give a very special shout out to Dave's coworker Murphy! Murphy is a shining star! He did an amazing job too! I'm so lucky to have found a gem like Dave, and if I decide to have any other work done, I will get him to do it! read more

We contacted at least half a dozen companies prior and they either 1) did not show up or 2) never sent quote or 3) came up with ridiculous amount of work and 4) overpriced. Welcome to this team. Courteous, professional, gave us for the first time a real understanding of the different options and we were able to understand what was best for us. They even had brochures to see the options in finer detail. Between the first appointment and the job done, we were done in no time. Something that took us over a year to begin with others! Payment options was also perfect for us. Tip: Let them know what use you want for the chimney (decorative, to heat the home? Etc). Anything else you want to do to that chimney aesthetics wise? They do it all. Thank you Stefan and team for being amazing! read more

American Professional Chimney & Masonry - Replaced original to gas with remote. We love it and WARMS the house fast! - Chimney Sweeps Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

I'm rating the technician who came to our home twice as a 5, and this company as a 3, for an overall rating of 4. But to be very clear, David S. was our tech and he was terrific, a 5! He was on time, polite, respectful, personable, knew his stuff technically, and was at ease explaining everything technically including our options. He came here the first time to assess our two gas fireplaces that weren't working properly (fee was $74 each, $148 total). He came here the second time to service/clean/repair the two units, including replacing the pilot assemblies ($587 each, $1,174 total). Excellent work by David who is a solid ambassador for this company. However, the company dragged its own banner through the mud by calling us the morning of the second visit, and leaving a voicemail message along these lines: "Hi, this is American Professional Chimney and Masonry calling. Our technician is scheduled to be there this afternoon, but we haven't heard from you to confirm this appointment. Please call us to confirm or reschedule." That was ridiculous and outrageous and totally unnecessary. The insinuation was that we needed to call back to confirm an already-confirmed appointment, or else they would cancel it and reschedule it. Here's why that was absurd: 1) The tech was here the first time and we didn't "no show" him. Cost = $148 for the assessments. 2) The tech gave us a proposal to clean/service/repair the two fireplaces ($1,174). We called the office and scheduled the date and time for the work to be done. 3) Per company policy, we used our charge card to pay for the parts - the two pilot assemblies - ahead of time, so they could be ordered ahead of the second visit ($298). 4) At no time were we told we would be expected to double confirm the second visit. We can't read minds. To summarize, we were already a paying customer who'd spent $174 + $298 = $472 with this company. We weren't some total unknown to them seeking a freebie. We'd previously scheduled the date and time of the second visit. And by the time all was said and done, we would spend $174 + $1,174 = $1,322 with them which included having paid $298 for the parts. And yet they called the morning of the second visit saying "We haven't heard from you confirming....." It was silly from a business perspective and their office procedures tainted the excellent work of their technician. They have room for improvement in their procedures and what they say when they call the day of the appointment. I wanted to rate this company a 3 because of that but didn't want that to reflect on David, the tech, who got a well-deserved 5. read more

American Professional Chimney and Masonry is a great company to do business with. They go out of the way to accommodate the customer. I had my chimney replaced by them and I was completely satisfied with the work done. Dianne one of the company's associates was relentless in finding a brick manufacturer that could match the house. The other two quotes I had told me the match didn't exist. I would gladly recommend APC&M to family, friends and neighbors. Their pricing is exceptional. They were great. I wanted to convert my gas fireplace into a wood burning one (which I know is unusual!) and got several estimates. They were all about the same amount, but American Professional Chimney was able to identify why the fireplace had been converted to gas in the first place (the mouth of the fireplace was too big for the flue, which caused smoke to pour out, leaving some smoke damage on the brick above). They relined the chimney, did some masonry work on the fireplace, and added a smoke guard. It works perfectly and no smoke has come out at all. They were communicative and easy to work with. They did a great job. read more

The folks at American Professional live up to their name - they are very professional in everything they do! They were the only company we called out that had the technology required to provide an accurate estimate. They used a long pole camera to show us the interior of the chimney to assess it's current state, and took video and pictures from the roof top to show the exterior. They are very thorough! Genaro, the stone mason, is the star of the operation. His work was meticulous! His team rebuilt our chimney better than it was before and used the right materials for the job. They also rebuilt the back of our fireplace so we don't have to worry about fire hazards! Genaro and his team were so good, we hired them to redo our sidewalk and porch, fill in holes and cracks around our home's exterior, and completely rebuild the wall holding up our driveway. He alerted us to structural issue and dedicated himself to doing the job the right way. This team takes no shortcuts - they only offer the best work. American Professional is worth every penny! And they were the cheapest estimate we got! read more

Five is simply not enough stars to give Dave Myers and his company, American Professional Chimney and Masonry. Over the past 7 years they have done a great deal of work on our house and we have come to greatly respect and appreciate the quality of their work, their integrity, and their attention to customer service. To be more specific, our house is an 1896 Queen Anne Victorian with a very tall central chimney for the fireplace flue and furnace flue. The work that Dave has done for us has included chimney cleaning, damper repair, stainless steel flue liner installation for the furnace flue, and chimney rain caps for both flues. After we had a chimney fire in the fireplace flue, he performed a camera video inspection of the entire interior surface of the flue to assess the damage, which revealed cracked ceramic tiles. Based on his recommendation and my own research, we then had him install "HeatShield", an innovative solution that repairs and restores both the flue and fireplace smoke chamber, making them safe for use. We were extremely happy with his expert advice and skillful installation of this product. As a historic preservationist I am very sensitive about work being done on our historic site. Dave Myers is equally sensitive and is a perfectionist in his craft. He is foremost extremely honest, professional, hard-working, knowledgeable, intelligent, and dedicated to giving satisfaction to his clients. Additionally he is very easy to work with and just an all-around nice person. We highly recommend him for all applications of chimney work for both historic and modern houses. read more

They replaced almost my entire chimney . I recommend . Very friendly staff . Professional work.

American Professional Chimney recently replaced the flue in my 4th floor condo. While we all thought it would be a straight forward replacement, it turned into a much more complicated project due to the poor engineering of the condo building. Manuel and his men effectively and efficiently worked through the structural issues and ultimately were able to perform the full flue replacement. They worked diligently while also keeping me informed of the process, along with anything they needed on my end. Stephan, the operations manager also kept me informed of the overall process and timeline, especially when it went beyond the original scope of the job. I plan to have American Professional Chimney come to my new home to inspect my chimney and do any necessary work. I highly recommend them for any of your chimney or masonry needs! read more

Fast, and great work. They rebuilt the inside and top of my chimney and converted it to gas. I'd definitely use them again.

You're correct this happened the previous year - I didn't write this at the time it happened and wasn't going to until I repeatedly received requests from your company to review your company, which I thought ironic. No one ever apologized until your response here on yelp. A little late especially if you knew about all this when it was happening - where were you at that time? If it were my business I would've been on the phone to the client ASAP at the very least apologizing. Waiting until there is a negative review on a public forum to apologize to a customer is not a true apology it's a CYA move. This confirms my feelings as to your business and why I share this story whenever I'm asked for a recommendation for a chimney company. read more

They did a great job on the chimney which required a lot of repairs. Highly recommend this company!

Very satisfied with professionalism and communication. Pricey but excellent insert.

We had our chimney repaired. We needed a new crown and a few layers repaired. We have a tall three story house. I called and set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment I called to confirm and the office told me it was not in their system. I rescheduled it. The team that arrived to provide the estimate was professional and wrote up the estimate on the spot. I scheduled the service. One team came and completed the repair on a hot day. The team was very nice and they cleaned up the work space very well. They said they would return in a week to uncover and spray waterproofing. Another team came back to do that, also very nice and professional. After the second team left I noticed that shingles on the porch were damaged from the ladder. Neither team used the buffers as I had expected. I called to discuss and the office offered to have a team come to replace the bent and broken shingles. One team came about two weeks later to take photos and did not return. Then another team arrived a week after that. They did not have the photos from the earlier team and arrived with the wrong colored shingles. I approved them but after starting them they realized it was not a good match. They returned the next day and completed the repair. The last team apologized for the situation. I am having the chimney inspected this week and will update if there are issues with the repair done. After I made full payment I never heard from the company again to ensure that everything was completed to my satisfaction. This company needs better communication all around and the staff must be more careful with their work areas. A homeowner should not have to micromanage the repair process. read more

Responsive when I called for a new cap and damper (follow up as they had already inspected my chimney during during the purchase of the house months prior). Angela took the time to answer questions and explain the work on the phone. They were able to schedule an appointment and come within days. I think I talked to them on a Thursday or Friday and they came on Monday. Very polite staff and great customer service. My chimney has two liners and staff had not experienced this. The gentleman asked a lot of questions about the two liners to ensure he was doing a thorough job. Staff was responsive when I asked them not to track dirt in the house. I felt like the cap and damper were installed well and I hope not to have issues with the work. I was happy with customer service and willingness to explain the work before, during and after. read more
