The reason I said ""maybe ", is because You REALLY have to stay on top of these guys. You have to call constantly to make sure that you have a appointment, sometimes they don't respond, (even when they tell you they're coming and they don't ). and when they actually do the work, make sure that you check the details I ended up having to paint all around my fireplace. I was told that they were going to clean the fireplace too and left it with cobwebs and the fireplace actually didn't even work. I had to call another company to get it fixed. Just be aware, make sure you pay attention to detail if you do hire these guys, and stay on top of them to complete the job appropriately. read more

They quoted me $300 for an inspection and chimney cleaning. When they arrived, they did an inspection and told me the chimney needed repairs, so I confirmed via phone with the owner and with the crew in my home that they should not proceed with the cleaning. When I got the bill, they charged $280 for a cleaning and inspection. I had to argue with them that the cleaning had not been performed and eventually they knocked it down to $250. I'm not sure how we got from $300 cleaning AND inspection to $250 for JUST an inspection, but none of this was properly communicated to me or handled professionally. Additionally, they quoted me almost $10,000 to repair my chimney. I have serious concerns that these repairs need to be done and will be looking for a second opinion. We hired Suburban Chimney to replace the cracked brick inside our chimney. When I initially contacted them, they recommended a full chimney inspection. However, due to poor weather on the scheduled day, the technician informed my husband that he would need to return to assess the roof as part of the inspection. A few days later, they replaced the brick in the chimney and left. My husband was home during the service and did not observe anyone accessing the roof. When I received the inspection report, it included photos of various aspects of the chimney but made no mention of the roof. Since a previous company had identified necessary roof-related chimney repairs, I followed up with Suburban Chimney to ask when they planned to complete the roof inspection. The technician stated that it had already been done and promised to send photos. After waiting a few days without receiving them, I reached out again. He then told me he could not locate the photos but offered to return on Monday to take them. However, he failed to show up after we waited all day. When I followed up, he offered to reschedule for Wednesday, but we were unavailable. I asked him to come on Friday so my husband could be present, but he never responded. When I confronted him about the lack of communication and clarity, he seemed more concerned about me questioning his integrity than addressing the issue. Given that his report did not mention a roof inspection, he had no photos, and my husband never saw or heard anyone on the roof, we are left questioning whether the inspection was ever performed. I dont know a single company that would conduct an inspection and not detail all findings. He then issued a refund and wrote "inspection voided". This experience has raised serious concerns about the company's professionalism, transparency, and reliability. read more

After noticing the wet spot on our ceiling grow bigger and bigger, AND repairing the roof thinking we had a leak there, we decided to look for a chimney service, knowing that had to be the culprit. Looking for a reliable and trustworthy service on Google is daunting to say the least; you read through all the reviews and sometimes, you don't even trust the ones you read. I stumbled across Suburban Chimney about 6 reviews deep into my search, and was impressed with the personalized reviews and heartfelt recommendations left by customers, so decided to give them a ring. John picked up immediately and I told him the scene that was slowly unfolding in our house, and without hesitation, he said, "I can be there today, is that OK?" To say the least, I was floored. I am used to companies giving me a timeline of up to a week to stop by, and here was John saying he'd be here by the time we were on the afternoon news. He came by solo, climbed up the roof, took pictures, and came down and calmly explained to us what we kind of already knew. That our chimney was in BADDDDDDDDD SHAPE. To give you a back story, we have lived here for 10 years and before that, the previous occupants had lived here since the house was built in the 60's, and had not done a thing to the chimney. John told us exactly what needed to be done, and gave us a very VERY reasonable estimate, and said he would send an invoice by the next day. Obviously, we gave them the OK to start, and within a week, John and his team were on our roof. Within 2 days, they had finished (working about 4-5 hours at a time)! John was in constant contact letting us know what needed to be done and what had been done, and his team was super courteous and professional. I could not be more happier with the results, and am feeling relieved that during the next rainstorm we don't have to be scared of our ceiling getting even more wet. a few yeas ago we had water damage in an upper bedroom and living room that got worse over time, around the area that backs onto my stone chimney. We had a roofer some out and replace the flashing and the rooms re-plastered and painted. Then the wall-buckling re-appeared and it was apparent that the chimney needed repair. I got an estimaate from one service who said they'd "put waterproofing " over the stone, which seemed insufficient to me. I did some digging and found out that most chimney services only work with brick. More digging and three realtor recommendations and a check with the service that certifies stone masons, and I came up with Tony and John Serrano at Suburban Chimney. Family owned business and I can' t say enough. They came out promptly to assess and said would take the job but wouldn't until they had hired one or two more expert masons to deal with the back-log they had. I dealt mostly with John, who was honest about the timing and cost, and they came when they said, the work was done when they said it would be, and the finished product was fabulous. This was all during CoVid when many friends of mine were having trouble getting work done on various house problems. Several people have come by to look at our chimney after I posted a review on the Listserve, and hired Tony and John as a result of the fine masonry work and repointing--which apparently is a specialized skill in itself. The Serrano's are also a source of referrals for other good workman. Honest, trustworthy, and a pleasure to work with, I highly recommend them. read more

I chose this company based on their positive reviews, but was disappointed in our experience last fall. John came out the same day I called to inspect our chimney. He is clearly in the business of selling $10K chimney liners and wasn't interested in the business we wanted to give him, which was some other, less expensive and more immediate repairs our chimney needed. We plan to replace the liner eventually, but we won't be giving him our business because he straight up ghosted us. He left and never sent an estimate like he promised and never responded to a follow up text or call. I find that kind of treatment unprofessional and a waste of everyone's time. We needed our Chimmney to be rebuilt to install a water heater. Suburban Chimmney was recommended to us by our plumber. Tony came out to look at our chimney and fire places. We had furniture movers in the house the same day so he offered to send us his report and estimate in the mail since there were a lot of people in the house. I paid $175 for his time and report. It is 3 weeks later and I still don't have a report and there is just a recording on this business phone line. This is terrible customer service. He cashed my check weeks ago and I got nothing for the money. Take my advice, go elsewhere!! read more
