These guys are great! Our basement wall had horizontal and stair stepped cracking, and was shearing in. We were nervous because our gas, electric, and plumbing runs through or along that wall. We called Matt Taylor and he came right out. He quickly understood what needed to happen and his estimate came in under the others we got. My wife and I rent. Usually triangulating with our landlord in California and contractors is a pain in the @%*. Not the case with these guys. The crew was run by his brother and they were friendly, communicative, and professional. They even worked a Saturday to finish waterproofing the exterior before inclement weather hit. They completed the job in two weeks (the time expected) and restored the yard back to its former glory, seeding the lawn and mulching the beds. Previously wrote this review about a month ago, and it seems to have been hidden from Matt's profile: ------------------ Unprofessional and a waste of time. We reached out to Matt in 4/2018 to receive a quote to repair our foundation. He and his wife arrived promptly to examine our property. We told Matt that we were looking to get the work done in August 2018 because we could easily be out of the house during that month. It took us a bit of time to find a structural engineer to assist Matt on the job, but we continued to communicate with him, and he alluded that our time frame would work for his company. When Matt and our structural engineer came out in mid July, Matt stated he would get us a "formal estimate on his letterhead" in two business days. Once the two business days passed, I followed up with Matt, but it took two weeks for him to send the estimate, which was a jumbled e-mail. I agreed to his estimate and asked when the work would start; he stated at the end of Sept. I asked a few clarifying questions and requested a contract and received no response. For the next month, we checked in with Matt to get the contract signed and set an official start date for the project-- numerous e-mails, phone calls, text messages, voicemails, with no response. Here we are in mid October, when the work should be completed, and the last time I heard from Matt was July 31st. Not only was it unprofessional for Matt to completely ignore us, our project was delayed months because of him, which has been a huge inconvenience for our young family. read more

We had water seeping in along one wall of our basement into our family room and also under our sun porch along the front of the house. The water wasn't flooding the basement, but we had the drywall replaced twice and had the carpet cleaned and re-stretched too. Our gutters empty underground and the grading around the house was fine, but it seems over time the water had nowhere to go but into the foundation. I think because people have made so many modifications to their homes, adding fences or driveways, doing landscaping, etc., it has changed where the water can drain, and now it ends up in people's basements. Matt Taylor and his team dug a trench inside the house along the wall (we were having the basement laundry room & bath remodeled, so the access was easier) and the perimeter of the storage space under the sun porch. It was filled with gravel and rocks to improve the drainage and a kind of screen was installed along the lower wall to force the water into the gravel pit. Then it was covered with concrete. They also replaced our sump pump. There has been no water anywhere after the last two storms (July 2020). I could not be more pleased with the work, the way the team managed the job, and the speed with which it was completed. read more

For an example, MTE installed only brand recognized sump pumps and double insulated pipe (verses single). In the areas of management, MTE provided a team that possessed an uncontested amount of years of experience installing systems together. They're team kept me updated of their progress and any risks with the project was addressed beforehand, or if it was raised, it was quickly resolved with affordable and very reasonable costs. Our basement flooded anytime there was more than 1" of rainfall. And the flooding was unrelated to any gutter issue. Matt did a hose test at the foundation at the front and side of our house to locate the area of the leak. He proposed installing a window well at the front basement window and some minor regrading to address the problem. In just a matter of 2 hours Matt's team completed the work. I fully admit I had doubts that the steps taken would solve a serious flooding issue. But I can say now, 5 months later, and after some recent heavy rain storms, there is no sign of water. If you need some expert help solving drainage issues, call Matt and his brother Brad. They quickly understood what needed to be done and gave me some great ideas that were incorporated into the project. They poured a new driveway and sidewalk and did a number of other projects including installing a new basement drain. I was surprised that they were able to not only do the concrete work but also rebuild some planters that needed to be changed and install railings. They had a hard working team that showed up promptly every morning at 7:30am and worked very efficiently and cleaned up each day. All projects have some unexpected issues but they resolved them and provided a number of finishing touches I didn't expect, but certainly appreciated. I had a great experience with Matt and his team. He was recommended by my engineer for a complicated foundation repair job, and I'm really glad I took the advice. He and his team are super professional, and they have a protocol that works in the quarantine era (porta-potty outside, come in through basement side door, never come in the house unless they have to for the work). This review is a long time coming. Back in 2018 we would see some flooding in our basement in very heavy rains. Our house is older and I was expecting the worse. One company said we would need the foundation dug out and a french drain put in. I was not prepared to drop $10,000 for such a job. Another contractor we've used recommended Matt. Matt came out and quickly identified the what he thought was the root of the problem: a leaking window well. Total cost to block the window well in and regrade $2500. I knew the window well needed repair but I didn't think all the water we had was coming solely from the window well. But $2500 was much cheaper than $10,000. Anyway, he and his crew came and 4 hours later the basement wall was blocked in and the outside well filled and regraded. Fast forward one year and regardless of the rain our basement has been dry. Matt installed an inside perimeter drain system and sump pump to eliminate occasional wetness due to a spring under my basement in Silver Spring. Matt and his team are truly remarkable. I was blown away by the care and energy they brought to the work. The wall in the below-ground utility room of our house was leaking. Matt carefully evaluated the problem and talked us through the issues, ensuring we understood the problem and his recommended repairs. Sealing the wall on the exterior required temporarily moving an AC unit, recreating a concrete platform for the AC unit, excavating alongside the house, and regrading the land. For the job, other contractors provided estimates that were far outside of our budget. Matt's estimate was half or less of the other estimates. Matt's team completed the work in one and a half days. I called Matt Taylor on Tuesday morning at 7:00AM and at 8:20AM he was at the house and looking over the window well that overflowed into the finished basement room. He said his crew could dig it out, clean the drains, and pour in new rocks and stones, and he will have this done on Friday. The seven man crew arrived right on time and did an excellent job of cleaning out all the wells and ensuring the downspout problem was corrected. I was extremely impressed by the entire crew and how professional they were and everything was neat and clean when they left. Matt completely rebuilt a section of the front porch and the stairs leading up to it on our 1940 rambler. The old section was cracked and crumbling, with exposed rebar. It was a tricky job because two-thirds of the original porch is covered by a pop-out, so the work had to be done without damaging that construction. Matt and his crew cut out the bad section, built a new supporting wall with deep footings under the pop-out, and framed and re-poured a new section of porch and new stairs from scratch. It took a while to schedule (mostly due to weather) but once it got going the work was done quickly and efficiently. The crew was great and we are very happy with the results. We hired Matt to fill in an in ground pool that was beyond repair. They did an amazing job for far less than traditional pool companies quoted us.
