After searching Virginia, DC and Maryland for a reliable gas fireplace seller/installer, I was referred to Tiffany and Jimmy. This company had every other beat in terms of price and service by a landslide. First, their prices are significantly lower than the competition as they have their own gas fitters and electricians. Most other companies contract out this work which adds a lot to the cost. They also have a beautiful showroom where you can see fireplaces before buying. Second, the service was unparalleled. Every single step was carefully explained and communicated. The technicians were on time, pleasant, careful, clean and skilled. It simply could not have been a better experience. This is a company that provides old-fashioned standards of excellence at incomparable prices. You will not be disappointed if you are lucky enough to do business with them. Be CAREFUL! Very friendly owner has apparently retired. Now the fireplace Chimney.com sold has failed after just 2 seasons. The problem is not our pilot or gas, it's the solenoid gas valve part that Chimney.com installed. (A master plumber has identified the issue 100%, but doesn't do gas repairs.) Since the whole device is controlled by remote, we know we did not break it--we never touched it ever, but the like-new fireplace did not come on this year. We were charged full price for the unit, which should have lasted for many years. Now Chimney.com is now wanting another $300 just two years later to repair. Paid a lot for a new unit. Chimney.com they says they are not responsible for quality of their products and will charge for labour to "evaluate" the issue. They act very folksy/ocal--until there's a problem, then they cut you loose. Be forewarned that you need to be lucky because they don't stand by their products sold. This feels scammy. read more

My first contact was made to Chinmey.com on November 1, 2024. I needed my pilot light on gas fireplace turned on. Due to high demand for chimney service my first appointment was set for November 22 arrival time 10-12:00. At 12:00 I called office and was told the technician was running late. By 1:00 he had still not arrived so I scheduled another appointment for December 9 2024. They did arrive on December 9 and cleaned the fireplace and restarted the pilot light. $295.00 was paid. -On December 10 the pilot light was off again. -Tried to contact them and scheduled another appointment for December 19. ---They emailed an estimate for $1700. They failed to show up for that appointment. -Rescheduled again for December 26 between 8-9 am. Again no show. They left a message at 8:30 saying they wouldn't be there unless we agreed to the $1700. estimate. We only wanted our pilot relit. When we complained on December 26 they said they'd call back. Have not heard from them since. Buyer beware. I will just go to a competitor and hopefully that will work out better. read more

Been working with this company for a few years now. This particular time, Giovanni was wonderful over the phone scheduling the appointment and keeping in touch with us throughout the week. When Randy showed up for the cleaning he was very thorough and made sure to clean the area around his work zone after finishing. Buyer beware. Great salesman horrible service. They will sell you a service that their workers are not skilled enough to complete. For instance, the salesman sold us on their ability to complete tasks such as tiling a fireplace. When the workers showed up to actually do the tile work, they did not have a wet saw. They instead tried to cut the tile , while on the wall with an electric hand saw. This of coarse burned the tile that they tried to cut. The job had to inevitably be redone. After rescheduling issues on their part (workers did not show up when they were scheduled) a 2 day project took 1 month to complete. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

I only needed my pilot to turn on and the fireplace serviced since the previous renter never turned it on and want to make sure everything is working fine. Technician came, turn on the pilot, lifted a piece of metal covering the outside vent, and charged me $275???!!!!!! I was told that's the standard charge for the service because they had to drive from MD (so I am paying for their time to drive to my home). The company told me they have solved a problem and made the proper diagnosis, hence the high fees. In fact, the technical never said it was a problem, but only told the renters not to put the metal on the outside vent when the fireplace is on. After MUCH negotiation, I was charged $250. Scheduled an inspection and cleaning, they arrived on time as scheduled. That's where the pros end. They looked inside and told us it was not possible to clean out chimney until the damper was replaced--it wasn't broken, just in the way. This seemed odd to me as it was freshly cleaned when we moved in a few years ago so it definitely wasn't a problem then. Said it was "impossible" to clean from above. Would not do the inspection saying it must be cleaned first (it had been cleaned within 2 years and barely used since). Left us with a quote for the work we "needed." Called someone else, explained the damper and even sent photos--"no problem." New vendor arrived and actually did the inspection, said it didn't need a cleaning, damper was fine, but noted significant issues with the structure on the roof that should have been noticed in previous inspections. These guys are not honest and they will bait and switch you after you have an agreement. The work is just passing at best. Not what you want for a $6500 fireplace, just for the unit. They make commitments and don't follow through. They refuse to have their work permitted, even when running natural gas lines. They have not even finished the job that they upcharged me $7,000 on and the 2 units I bought were not even finished being installed and they wanted me to pay a $550 trip charge. They show up with a hand full of unskilled labors and complain the entire time about doing the work they were signed up to complete. This is a really bad company. The Chimney.com folks left about 15 minutes ago after relining my chimney, putting a new damper system at the top of my chimney, relined the other hole that comes out of my house, repointed some loose bricks, redid the mortar crown and I cannot sing their praises enough!!! The chimney folks (Carlo plus his partner and then a little later, another guy showed up) were polite, professional, did the whole job in one day, left my basement spotless! I've already built a fire in my "new" fireplace, the smoke is going exactly where it should go, I'm sitting in front of it with my music on, my scotch in hand, and a great book. Who could ask for more?? I also want to mention how good and thorough Brandon was who did the inspection and showed me exactly what needed to be done. I had done a little research ahead of time on the web so I had a good idea of what I needed (a level 2 inspection - my house was built in 1954, I'm the original owner and the only thing that had ever been done was having a chimney sweep come every other year). BTW, I felt the cost was very reasonable for the amount of work they did - I ran the inspection and estimate by a friend who is an architect and he confirmed the thoroughness of the inspection AND the cost was appropriate for the work that needed to be done. If I ever sell my house (which I won't), my chimney is up to current code now. I wish I had another chimney so I could hire these guys again!!! We just had our whole roof replaced for $11,000 !! I have to believe that there is a company that will simply replace the faulty valve, which​ I believe you should have done for $425. Nelson installed our new chimney flue tile, top damper, and mortar crown. He and Jimmy removed an old metal flue no longer in use (formerly for the furnace and water heater). They repaired the asphalt shingle roof by installing new wood, tar paper/felt, and replacement shingles. Both tasks were completed within about 4 hours including clean up. We had a couple of problems with our chimney. It was old and crumbing and basically falling apart. The pipe from the hot water heater to the chimney needed to be fixed because the company that installed the chimney liner (not this one, that company is thankfully out of business) did not put a big enough slope going up. We also had a gas fireplace installed. Nelson and Carlos who did the brickwork were very professional and the job looked great when it was finished. The people that put in the fireplace were also good and professional. They were very punctual for both the estimate and the job. Finished the job all in one day. I recently used Chimney.com to change the flue and fix a crack in the cement at the top of the chimney. In terms of quotes, the company was quick to respond to my request. The gentleman who came out was great, gave me a run down of everything that needed to be done and the estimated cost. He also was nice enough to give me a rough idea on other projects (e.g. switching from wood burning to gas) so I can properly plan future budgets. From an execution standpoint, they scheduled me within the next few days. The repair guy came out on a Saturday morning, showed up on time, and did everything without much ruckus. He laid down blankets to catch all the debris while inside and then used a vacuum to make sure it was clean. Not going to lie, I was pretty impressed with how cleanly he was throughout the process. The bricks on the chimney were disintegrating, and I wanted the chimney capped, so that no cold air could go down it, and that no warm air would escape from the house. When I called their explanation was there is nothing we can do (my issue was a bad draft from the outside through the gas fireplace). First, I do not believe there is nothing that can be done. I had a similar issue with another home in the past and the issue is completely fixable, it just requires proper insulation. Very expensive, didn't do a good job the first time, they did not come the 2nd time to complete it until a month later after we called them and called them and then they came for the third time to take pictures of the job but not clear if it's done or not. Water was leaking from the chimney into one of our fireplaces and this company had put new caps and other extensive work on the chimney three years before; we were fairly pleased with previous work, so I contacted them again. I called them to come out and they squeezed me in on a Saturday morning. The owner came out in Nov. 2018, was brief, and said we could caulk part of the chimney, but, clearly, was not interested in doing any repair work. More rain, more leaking, and I could see water coming in at the top, even after caulking a potentially problematic area. Called again in December 2018. They brushed me off and scheduled me out a month later. Fast forward to this morning (Jan. 2019) and I received a call TWENTY-TWO MINUTES before their scheduled arrival time saying they weren't coming out and just emailed me an estimate for work they could perform for $800. I had already made arrangements to be at home, away from work. I told the person who called me that even 24-hours notice would have be appropriate notice and this was disrespectful of my time. They have had TWO MONTHS to think about sending me an estimate and bailed minutes before they showed up. Very unprofessional and disappointing customer service and I, sadly, will not plan to use this company, nor will I recommend them in the future. read more

I didn't actually use Chimney.com but they saved me over $2k so I had to write this. I own a multi-family home and needed to get both water heaters replaced. Two companies told me that I didn't have a chimney liner. I asked them how do you know if you don't look and they both said you can just tell. They gave me quotes of $4800 to do the liner and water heaters. I had Chimney.com come out and they got on my roof and saw a liner. They also took pictures and showed me I needed a new concrete lip on the top of the Chimney, something I'll be having them do in the spring. read more

Left a 1/3 deposit, they were supposed to arrive for a full day of work on a Monday morning. We waited a couple of hours. Nothing, no call, no text, no e-mail. We finally called them and they said they didn't have the stone needed for the hearth, so rescheduled for the following Saturday. Thanks for wasting my vacation time waiting around, and I didn't get any apology. They worked a full day Saturday and said everything was done except for waterproofing the chimney. I paid around $700 to have the smoke chamber parge coated. They said it was done and showed me pictures. After the fact I googled to see what SHOULD have been done and realized they did about 1/5 of the work they were supposed to. I contacted them to complain and they rescheduled to come out Wednesday. On Tuesday they called, giving us 20 minutes notice, to say they wanted to finish the job because they had somebody nearby who was small enough to fit in the chimney and finish the job. They spent another 2 hours finishing the job. They also kept my credit card number from the initial deposit and automatically charged it for the completed job without my authorization. I will say that I was happy with the new flagstone they put down on the hearth, that actually looks pretty good. It was everything else they did wrong that dropped the rating to 1 star. And the $300 to waterproof the chimney took about 15 minutes start to finish, so not sure if I got ripped off with that. read more

I hate writing negative reviews, but here's my story: I researched a bit and found Jimney's. The price seemed right, so I called and set up an appointment. They asked me to have a window from 1 to 4pm when they would arrive. No problem. They called the day before and left a message confirming. Great! I called the next morning, no answer. No problem, I thought. When 2:30 rolled around and I still hadn't heard, I called them again. "We can't come today," the woman told me. "The truck broke down." Interesting, I thought. So why hadn't they called me? "We're working to reschedule everyone right now." How many customers could one truck have that it would take all day to reschedule? The woman was nice and apologetic, but something just didn't seem right. Alas...back to finding a chimney sweep. read more
