After noticing the wet spot on our ceiling grow bigger and bigger, AND repairing the roof thinking…read morewe had a leak there, we decided to look for a chimney service, knowing that had to be the culprit. Looking for a reliable and trustworthy service on Google is daunting to say the least; you read through all the reviews and sometimes, you don't even trust the ones you read. I stumbled across Suburban Chimney about 6 reviews deep into my search, and was impressed with the personalized reviews and heartfelt recommendations left by customers, so decided to give them a ring. John picked up immediately and I told him the scene that was slowly unfolding in our house, and without hesitation, he said, "I can be there today, is that OK?" To say the least, I was floored. I am used to companies giving me a timeline of up to a week to stop by, and here was John saying he'd be here by the time we were on the afternoon news. He came by solo, climbed up the roof, took pictures, and came down and calmly explained to us what we kind of already knew. That our chimney was in BADDDDDDDDD SHAPE. To give you a back story, we have lived here for 10 years and before that, the previous occupants had lived here since the house was built in the 60's, and had not done a thing to the chimney. John told us exactly what needed to be done, and gave us a very VERY reasonable estimate, and said he would send an invoice by the next day. Obviously, we gave them the OK to start, and within a week, John and his team were on our roof. Within 2 days, they had finished (working about 4-5 hours at a time)! John was in constant contact letting us know what needed to be done and what had been done, and his team was super courteous and professional. I could not be more happier with the results, and am feeling relieved that during the next rainstorm we don't have to be scared of our ceiling getting even more wet. I highly recommend Suburban Chimney and will be referring them to everyone I know that needs their chimney serviced! A++++

Very responsive and they kept me updated on the progress. The workers were nice and very professional. I dont know much about chimneys but it seems evreything was done well. But they cleaned all of that up. I didnt have to worry. :)

It could have been done on Wednesday, but it rained all day. The pricing was so fair that I didn't even need to negotiate. I had not looked into chimney repair before, but a bird entering your house like it's Santa will make you consider installing a chimney cap. Joe explained chimney caps to me like I was five years old, in the most respectful way. He explained how the chimney would need two caps because usually the furnace vents through the chimney. He explained how to check for myself in the basement. He was right. He also explained the chimney crown and that it needed to be replaced. I wondered how he could know that since no one climbed to the chimney during the estimate. I asked for pictures before the work started. The crown had cracks but served the house well for 80 years. He was right again. His team showed up, explained the scope of work, gently moved our plants out of the way, and got to work. We also had several bricks that needed to be replaced. That required the team to remove the broken brick, spread mortar, and install new bricks. They match the house well. I napped in front of the fireplace while they worked. I could only hear light tapping from the brick removal process. They sent photos while the work was in progress. Great photos that I will share with you below. Joe and his team exceeded my expectations. The hardest part of getting the chimney repaired was submitting payment - because no one asked for money upfront. 10/10 I would recommend Victorian Chimney Services for your chimney upkeep needs.

We didn't realize the chimney had a large internal crack and would require a full replacement and relining. Chelsea's Chimney was fantastic from start to finish. The owner personally came out, inspected everything, and took the time to explain what was going on and reassure me that it could be fixed safely. That personal attention meant a lot during a pretty scary situation. After paying the deposit, they moved quickly, within a week we had an entirely new chimney system installed along with a new cap. The work included removing the old flue tiles and throat damper, installing a UL-listed stainless steel liner with a lifetime warranty, insulating the flue, parging the smoke chamber, and installing a new top tile and top-closing damper system. Everything was clearly explained as they worked, which I really appreciated. The total cost was $5,400, which felt very fair for the amount of work, quality, and peace of mind we received. The craftsmanship looks great, and we now feel confident using our fireplace safely. Highly recommend Chelsea's Chimney if you want knowledgeable professionals who stand by their work and keep you informed every step of the way.

The main problem and downside is that they are very expensive and overcharge. Despite the Yelp page saying that the company provides a "free estimate", I was quoted $49 for the technician to travel. In addition, if I had not chosen to go ahead with the repair, the company would have charged me an additional $150 diagnostic fee. Essentially, despite the yelp profile stating a "free estimate", it will cost you closer to $200 to get a quote. I see this as false advertisement. In addition, when the technician concluded that the problem was the capacitor, I received a final quote of $600. When I googled the price of the same capacitor online, the price range was in between 75$ - 150$. Essentially, they are charging a premium of at least $450 per replacement for a single part (capacitor). Despite their professionalism and quality work, I do not recommend this company for the reasons stated above. If price is not a concern for you, and you would rather pay twice the market value for a job then you should definitely choose them. EDIT: I actually googled the price of a capacitor and offered to buy my own. I was told that by the technician that if I purchased my own capacitor that the company would not install it. In conclusion, they did not address any of my concerns. Unfortunately, after reading the other bad reviews, there seems to be a consistent pattern of discrepancies between what they tell customers and what they instruct technicians to say on site. Making an honest living is so much more rewarding than making it dishonest living.
