An absolute joke of a company. Appointment window was 12-4 pm today. Called at 4pm today. Guy who answered finally tells me "your technician was in an accident on his first call of the day, so we will need to reschedule." No apology, nothing. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. First call of the day? It's now 4pm and you didn't have the decency to call me? And when I call you out on that you imply I'm a horrible person for not caring that someone "had an accident, is now in the hospital." He spoke slowly to me like I didn't get what he was saying. He was rude, unprofessional, and obviously fits right in at this complete joke of a company. I work in DC, I had to take leave and rush home to make the appointment window. No respect whatsoever for a customer's time. I'm disgusted. This is an update on a prior review. In addition to the horrible installation - taking over 6 months because of their lousy scheduling system, this is in regard to their warranty work. I bought their 1 yr service contract - they discounted the price of the fireplaces by the cost of a one year service contract and extended the warranty - so why not? It is now the end of the one year period and I want to cancel and cut all ties with this horrible firm. They are refusing to cancel the contract - even though I have made all payments. So now we have to go to the credit card company and courts to get them to stop billing. From A to Z, this has been a horrible experience. Stay away from this company! read more

Do not use this company!! We just cancelled our service contract due to rude service and safety issues. I have never worked with a company with poorer service . Have had issues from the beginning when first installed gas fireplace with long wait times for service, very long hold times when calling, difficulty getting a service call in a timely manner (despite paying for a service contract) and rude staff. However even they outdid themselves! Cyprus came out a month ago for routine service and I was told we needed all new logs and paid over $1,000 for new logs and was told everything was working well . Two weeks later we are unable to turn on fireplace. Called to set up another service call and they never called back . Called again and was told they "might" be able to come out in 3 weeks! No apologies for not being able to service sooner . We canceled contract and called another company who came out the same day ! Even though Cyprus had just done a maintenance call 1 month ago and we were told "everything ok".... the new company found TWO GAS LEAKS AND HAD TO SHUT THE SYSTEM DOWN FOR SAFETY REASONS!! If one word can describe these guys, I will say "rip-off" should suffix. I just moved in to my new place and I have a gas fireplace. The previous owners got it serviced in summer 2016, and I noticed that it needed a fresh service. I reached out to another fireplace service place in Laytonsville and they told me that they don't have anything open till March. With my luck, I heard Cyrus Air Heating commercial on a radio channel so thought I will give them a call. My appointment was set for Friday afternoon, but the day before, on Thursday, they called me to confirm my morning appointment. Should have been my first clue, but I decided to carry on. The technician came in and after looking at the system, his suggestion was that I should replace the whole unit. Now my current unit is not that old, but he insisted that I should get a new one from him because he has one in his truck. I declined. When he was servicing the system, he told me that my thermopile needs to be replaced because its only passing half of the current what it is supposed to. The tech showed me that current passing through is around 0.5 volts, where it should be 1.0 volts. Alright, lets go ahead and change the thermopile. Now I am not familiar with the gas fireplaces so I had no idea what thermopile was supposed to be. The dude told me that its what keeps the pilot on and does the ignition. Alright, fair enough, lets change it, how much? He told me $488 + $180 installation. Now, I assumed that $488 will get me the whole pilot unit replaced, so I approved it. But when he was done, I noticed the same old pilot unit there. Turned out that it was just a little diode that flows the current that got replaced. In my mind, I thought "Darn that device must be a very specialized device perhaps made out of some fancy super alloy to cost that much". After the tech left, I got the invoice from Cyprus via email with the categorized charges, so I searched for the Thermopile and found out that the little piece of diode costs anywhere from 30 to 50 bucks. :| During the duration of this rip-off service, any time I mentioned anything, the tech's response was "You should replace the unit, I have it in my truck". Me: "How much do the replacement firelogs cost?" Tech: "You should replace the unit, I have one in the truck" Me: "How much to replace the front door?" Tech: "You should replace the unit, I have one in the truck" Me: "How much to install a blower?" Tech: "You should replace the unit, I have one in the truck" Tech: "Your controller has a leaked battery, you should replace the unit, I have one in the truck" And the best line from the tech, "You are already spending $1100 on this service, you should just pay $2000 more and get the unit replaced." Ummm.... Sorry bro, it might be alright for you to think that there is not too much of a difference between $1100 and $3000, but I not for me. Oh, and one more thing, the $464 one-time maintenance they do, they will change the batteries in your remote unit, provided that you provide your OWN batteries. They are too cheap to carry $10 worth of batteries on them After I received the invoice, I emailed the Cyprus Heating with a link to the thermopile sold by the local Ace hardware to see what their response will be, but so far, after almost 3 weeks, I have yet to hear anything back from them. So, if you all are planning on dealing with these guys for anything, make sure you verify the prices of whatever material they are going to use, or otherwise, like me, your $464 service will end up costing you $1200. I will say, these guys are dishonest rip-offs and nothing more and should be avoided at all cost, unless someone else is paying for it. read more

SCAMMERS STAY AWAY!!! ~3 years ago I paid ~$15,000 for an entire new heating and cooling system from Cyprus Air. I received a 10 year warranty on all parts, not including labor. About 3 weeks ago my thermostat broke when it fell off the wall cracking the screen, so I called them for a new replacement part which should be covered under warranty excluding labor. I called them for a new one to simply plug it in and replace the old one. Everything else about the system is working fine, including the thermostat, it just needed to be replaced. This is where all the games started. They said the thermostat they sold me is no longer made (from 3 yrs ago) and I need to upgrade to a new $1000 thermostat which they will charge me $800 to come and plug it in. I told them it should all be covered under warranty excluding labor (which is $89.00 to come and plug it in) and they said no, I have to pay the $800. I complained a lot and they dropped the price to $600.... after a lot of back and forth and games they kept playing with customer service, managers, and so on, after a couple weeks of headaches and my house being very cold at night (40 degrees Fahrenheit) and me having two small kids, I told them I will pay 50% of the cost to just get it done and over with, which would be $300. Even then they didn't want to do it, and said for $400 they will do it. So very frustrated with the whole ordeal, I agreed and they came out with a sub-par lower-end model thermostat which they installed by plugging it in and I paid them $400 by personal check. This is clearly a SCAM but out of frustration and worries for my kids and being very cold at night, I just went ahead and did it. They played a lot of games with me and their service was appalling. All of this should have been covered under my 10 year warranty but they refused to honor it. read more

We wanted our fireplace turned into a gas burning one, as well as have it remodeled to include book cases on either side. When we went to Cyprus Air they had a nice show room and seemed knowledgeable about their products. The salesman (Josh Conway) had great customer service and was very responsive prior to the signing of the contract. He even came out to our house to look at our existing fireplace to throw out some ideas and stated the HOA permits, and coordinating with the gas company would all be handled by them as well as only taking 3-4 days for the install/work. That was 2 months ago. Once we signed the contract we hardly ever heard from them or they stated they were waiting on supplies, or availability of workers. The first day they were supposed to show up to work, my wife took the day completely off and no one showed up. She called them and they stated they would have someone out in the morning to start work. She took off of work again and they didn't show up until noon. We had been working with Wendell Leverette and informing him of all this, but nothing ever seemed to be done about it. Just a bunch of apologies, saying how they would fix it, but never even let us know how they planned to make it right. I called the office twice and let the person know to have a manager and Josh return my phone call ASAP. This had to happen two days in a row and I never received a call until the third day. The work they did was very poorly done and it had to be corrected because I wouldn't accept it like it was (hole for gas line was 4 times the diameter of the line and patch work was very substandard and not even painted). The worker was supposed to bring the logs with him but told us they weren't in the showroom and was still waiting on them. Then when the logs were brought, they were cracked and had to be sent back. I finally put a stop on all work and told them I would sever the contract unless a face to face meeting would take place at our place. I wanted them to see what had been done so far. I met with the customer service manager (Tsengel Erdenbat), and the installation manager (John Pringle) and they assured me they would make it right and let me know how. We finally have the start of our work but they never filed the HOA permits and stated that was up to us. Now we are in a predicament because the work has already been done and there is a possibility of the HOA not granting our request. They also only sent out one worker for this project vs two to complete it in the time promised. I was also promised to be notified by the sales manager of their plan for making it right, but have not heard back and just had to call them to remind them. We are very displeased with everything so far and looking forward to this being completed and seeing how it turns out and them holding true to their word on making things right with us. read more

I had an amazing experience with Cyprus Air. I saw all the reviews and I was hesitant to call them, but they were referred by my local Loews and I took a chance. It paid off. I received a prompt call after submitting a quote for a new air conditioner. Josh and Brian were my main points of contact and I asked them multiple questions and they were very responsive. The prices were great and when it came to the installation (with a crane) I couldn't have asked for a better experience! They contacted the crane people, sorted permits and were phenomenal. I pray I don't have to get a new unit for another 20 years or longer, but if I do, I'll definitely contact Cyprus. read more

Lesson learned - I should have reviewed the ratings before employing this company to convert my wood burning fireplace to a gas burning one. The county inspector just left, and the installation failed, because there is a leak in the system. The inspector knew that immediately after checking the pressure gauge, which was the first thing he checked. I called the company and requested to speak to the supervisor. She informed me that the problem is that there were too many days between installation and the inspection, so air built up in the system. Now come on - don't you think a capable installer, and company would have known this? They are the ones who scheduled the installation and the county inspection. So, now, I must wait another week until they can schedule someone to come out and reschedule the inspection. I wish I could give them a rating less than one, I would. A couple of goof ups like this and winter will be over. Readers beware!!! read more

O stars for Cyprus Air. Sure wish we had read this site before contracting with them to put in gas fireplace logs for us! They promise you everything but watch out after the initial "honeymoon" and they have your payment they don't follow up. We have waited 3 MONTHS to have a working gas fireplace. Estimate /measuring mistakes caused initial delays then 2 different installation crews failed to pass the FFCO inspectors. I actually think we failed 4 times. The actual gas line installation is very ugly and no attempt at making the gas line entry into the masonry look decent. No one at Cyprus Air talks to each other. They fail to return calls when they are well aware there are issues. I would never recommend them to anyone! read more

I would not go with Cyprus again. I purchased an expensive gas log set on November 8, 2018 with the guarantee that it would be installed prior to Thanksgiving. The new gas line was installed and the logs put in place by November 16 but we could not get Cyprus to schedule the initial inspection of the external gas line. Thanksgiving and visiting family came and went. The inspection occurred November 29th and they then connected the logs to the gas line but it subsequently failed the final inspection in early December. We called Cyprus immediately to get the situation fixed as we had family coming for Christmas as well. Cyprus eventually made it out to our house on January 10th. They scheduled the final inspection for 8 days later. So we went from November 8, 2018 to January 18, 2019 to get the gas logs successfully connected. The REAL problem with Cyprus is that you only get operators when you call. You can't get in touch with anyone that can do anything about an issue. I sent emails to the general manager and sales manager requesting a call or response about this prolonged installation. Neither ever responded. Their product and service is just not worth the hassle of dealing with their blatant disregard for the customer after the initial sale. read more

Beware -- Inspection delayed more than a month after installation, then they failed the county inspection. We purchased the fireplace Nov 10 and it's still not operational today (Jan 14). They didn't return numerous phone calls to set up the inspection. Finally Scheduled another inspection for this week which is almost one month after the first (failed) inspection. I regret not checking the Better Business Bureau before buying -- I would have seen that there were 48 complaints just in the state of Maryland where we live. read more

Here's another 1 star... thus far. We paid abut $1200 to have 3 gas fireplaces maintained, one problematic. I received an e-mail confirmation on 13 November that I had an appointment from 0900 - 1PM today, Saturday 25 November. Last night (24 November) I received an e-mail and telephone call confirming an appointment today, Saturday 25 November, where the technician will be by the house sometime between 1100 and 3PM. I just called Cyprus since it's now about noon. I was told that the technician is currently in Alexandria and has one more service call in Alexandria before coming to my house in Arlington. So, maybe sometime between 3 and 4 this afternoon the technician will show up. I have tickets to a concert - which I'm guessing I now won't be able to make. Shame on me for not reading the Yelp reviews in advance before handing over my money. I now have shaken confidence that this company will be able to conduct proper maintenance on my gas fireplaces, especially the one problematic one. I'll write a review on that maintenance once completed. For now, I'm not impressed with this company. They gave me one appointment a couple of weeks ago then the night before the service, change it without even contacting me beforehand. Bad, bad business. read more

NEVER use Cyprus Air.  We have had SO MANY problems with them since they installed our heating and air system nine years ago, with so many improper things done that they have had to correct over the years (and it is always a pain to get them to do it).  Today:  We have a leak in our AC system. It is under warrantee for parts and labor.  They charged me $450 for 45 minutes of work and didn't even do the leak test fully, as far as I could tell.  After much argument with their people, I have finally given up and paid.  THEY ARE A HORRIBLE COMPANY. read more

I called Cyprus Air last summer when my A/C stopped working. They came quickly and fixed my TXV valve. A little on the pricey side but it was worth it as we have had no issues in the year since they put it in. I would have them come again if i needed it. read more

Add me to the list of one star reviews. Shame on me for not having checked Yelp or other reviews before purchasing, but shame on them for their shoddy business practices and failed commitments. I purchased a gas log insert on December 1st and they weren't able to schedule the installation until January 29th. So I rearranged my work schedule to be here on the 29th fully expecting the gas line and log set to be installed as promised -- BUT NO LOG SET -- and the installer told me it wasn't in stock. When I called the company I was told a completely different story that they can't install the log set until after the inspection. When I questioned her further I got a third story that they could have installed both and finally admitted they didn't have it, blaming the manufacturer. Now I have to re-arrange my schedule again if and when they ever get back to me with another date, but they can't even commit. 2+ months and I'm no where closer to having a fire in my fireplace than I was when I purchased the system on December 1st. If their products and service are anything like their business practices, failed commitments, and lousy communications, I am worried my house may burn down. read more

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT have anything to do with these crooks. Just look at how many 1-star reviews there. You may think your experience is going to be different, but it's not. Here I am a year and $500 into the service contract with them. (If you need the backstory, please see my previous two reviews.) We originally asked them to install the fireplace in the center of the room because we knew we would build some shelves around it. The contractor we hired to construct the shelves informed us that the fireplace was several inches off of center, and we had the choice between off-center and asymmetrical bookshelves, or asking Cyprus to disconnect the fireplace temporarily until construction was complete. This they eventually did. I say "eventually" because both my husband and I work, and we asked them to call my parents who live close by to let them into the house. We provided the number, but they never called them. When my mother finally went by the house, there was a note stating they had been there with a number to call. When my mother called that number, they were extremely rude to her and actually hung up on her. Well, today was the day we were supposed to get the fireplace reconnected and serviced. Surprisingly, they remembered to call my parents to be let into the house, but then they dropped a huge bomb. They informed them that it would cost $725 to reconnect the fireplace. (The actual price was over $800, but since we had a service contract, they gave us a discount--wow, what a bargain!). Here's the thing: no one ever told us it would cost money to reconnect the fireplace. If they had, I would have dropped them a looong time ago and gone with someone else. If I have to pay for disconnect/reconnect, I'd much rather pay it to someone who is honest and knows the meaning of customer service. This is how Cyprus operates: (1) They draw you in with their low prices that no one can touch. (2) They close the deal by telling you bold-faced lies (cf. my first review) (3) They sign you up for their service contract ($40/month!!!!) (4) They provide no real service. (5) Profit for Cyprus!! I see that many people have been taken by Cyprus since my last reviews. Please, please, save yourself a lot of headaches and money and go somewhere else. Sure, you might pay a little more for your fireplace, but you will not suffer a gas leak (cf. my original review) and you might actually get some service for your money. I would not give them even one star! Big disappointment. When they sent us the salesman we asked for something that looks like a real log fireplace but to warm the room well, After we agreed on a price and we paid in advance They sent a team to install the gas line, they finished the job and it looks very ugly I called to complain, I was told by the company that that's the only way to pass inspection there is no other way. We failed the inspection and the company sent the team back They fixed something and the inspector came again and failed us again, This time the company sent another team to fix it, The second team and they replaced the entire gas line It looks much better, but still not nice We failed again. The second team came back to repair and we talked a bit with the tech ,Orlando seems like an experience tech I told him I am really not happy with the service and I hope that after all this, at least the fireplace warm the room as it should, Orlando explained to me that what I have installed is more for appearance and less for hit, you can imagine how I felt in that moment, I couldn't believe my ears. After a few calls they agreed to take the fire logs that they sold me and bring me a new one that heats too but it will costs me $500 more What a nerve!!!! I ordered the service in the summer so it will be ready to use for the winter, we're not finished in it's already December and the want $500 more for something I ordered anyway??? Do your homework before dealing with this company. I have been trying for months to get someone in this company to address a problem they created with my HVAC system, that they now claim will cost me $4,200 to repair. I sent the message below to their GM last week and their response has been total silence. I have been a customer for over 10 years and this is just not acceptable on any level. Note to Cyprus GM: Don't bother posting your boilerplate response to this review. I already attempted to contact you and your repeated lack of response tells me everything I need to know about you company's commitment to customer service. ------------------------------ I am writing you because I can't get any of your employees to have a manager contact me about my failed HVAC duct system and the role that Cyprus Air played in contributing to that situation. I'm not going to go into all the details in this e-mail, but over the past several months, the furnace and duct work originally installed by Cyprus in 2007 has failed and it is no longer possible to heat or cool the house properly. I believe the current condition was caused by your duct cleaning crew in September 2016 when they provided that service as part of my fall HVAC maintenance visit. In my attempts to get some redress I have been passed around but no one has seen fit to take control of the situation. One of your field supervisors came out to inspect the situation just before Christmas. I asked him to provide me with a written quote on what needed to be done to fix the situation and I never received any followup communication from him. This is not what I would consider quality customer service and as an existing customer or yours I find it unacceptable. All I was told from someone in your office is that it would cost me $4,200 to fix, and when I asked that person to have a manager call me back, I was assured that someone would but several weeks later and no one has called. As general manager I'm assuming you will take this seriously and respond in some fashion. Ideally, I'd like your company to take some action to correct the situation. If I don't hear back from you within the next few days, or one of your senior managers, then I will take whatever actions necessary to warn other potential customers of your company's poor workmanship and negligent practices. As a small, locally-owned company that's been in business for 50 years, and relies on customer referrals and a good reputation, I trust you value my business and care what I think about your company. They installed a new fireplace that broke down the very next day and the fireplace is under a 1 - year warranty but they have not returned 5 calls, e-mails and now have the audacity to keep leaving voicemails for the remainder of the balance on the fireplace and an invoice in my mailbox. Today I waited 3 hours and spoke to 2 people - the first told me he was on his way and then an hour later the second one told me he had already been at my place. Vincent came out to our house on 15 December. He was the first person to make us feel like there is a solution available. He was here to evaluate the installation and answer why the heat was being sucked out of the house and not providing heat to our rec. room. I expressed my concerns about the previous lack of response, and as of 21 December, the problem continues. Based on our conversation that afternoon, I was expecting a call from Mercedus to address our concerns and issues. We are becoming a very dissatisfied customer. As a recap the items of concerns are: 1) Missing site survey which caused the potential for the wrong type of installation. 2) Delayed installation time, causing me to miss a scheduled reunion. 3) A surprise expense when the chimney was cleaned: What I feel was an excessive charge ($850.00) to patch some cracks in the mortar between the bricks in the firebox, taking a little over an hour to correct. 4) Lack of response from Customer care representative (Kadeem) & (Mercedus). 5) Crediting our credit card for the final payment a week before installation. 6) Poor log installation and corrective initiative/schedule. Still an open issue. The only good note was when Vince came out to discuss these issues and forward our concerns. However an e-mail to Mercedus has not produced even a phone call. read more

Wish I could give them no stars. Cyprus Air is a crooked company. For fireplace maintenance, they operate by taking your credit card and charging monthly. You cannot pay the whole thing up front. First red flag. They want your credit card number. I canceled in November of 2018 after the tech tried to sell me a "cut rate" remote for my fireplace for $150, all "under the table," and he was "doing me a favor." Very unprofessional. This thing costs $40 on Amazon. I called Cyprus Air the minute he left and canceled my contract. Nevertheless, they continued to charge my credit card for 3 more months. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of service and support not received from Cyprus Air Heating on December 12th. I called Cyprus based on being an honest and reputable company. Much to my surprise, I was very disappointed. I should have looked at the Yelp reviews prior to contacting them and scheduling my appointment for service. I was told my appointment window was between 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm (which is late). I waited all day until 8:00 pm at night. At 5:30 pm I called Cyprus and they told me at 6:30 pm the technical was on way and he never showed up. Next day, Cyprus called me requesting they make good on a no-show visit. I gave them another opportunity to service my gas fireplace. After the technical looked at the unit he said it would be $1,500 in parts. I was taken aback by the excess amount of PRICE GOUGING!! He then proceeded to sell me a maintenance plan for $230 and monthly fee of $22 per month which would not even cover any of the parts. When was in my home he did not service nor clean my unit -- said he would come back and service my gas fireplace once the parts came in. I felt that prices were too high (excess) for the parts, etc. Now that I have canceled everything, Cyprus wants to bill be everything ($1150.00) minus a $464.00 for inspection services. In addition, I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau taking advance of people. After researching several other companies, the average amount for service call is $230.00, I offered to pay the service call of $230.00 since the technician came out, and he did not service my fireplace. Cyrus is refusing to credit my account everything minus the $464.00. And they are threatening to send me to collection agency - do not sign anything with this company and do not use this company!!!!!! read more

My current experience with Cyprus Air has been dismal. We have a service contract and our gas log pilot light blew out. After several calls to a call center, I was surprised I was talking to an actual Cyprus Air employee. He said it wasn't safe to try to restart the pilot light ourselves and we must wait for them to come. Even when I protested, he said I had to wait for 10 days for the next available appointment. (In my recent experience, Cyprus Air seems to insulate themselves from actual customer interaction since each call was routed to a call service with extensive wait times with 4-8 callers already in the queue. Plus their telephone service can only send the company a message--they said they get no feedback from the company and I didn't get a response from the messages I left with their answering service. ) On the appointment day I made two calls trying to verify the tech was coming- again no call backs. The tech showed up and cleaned and restarted the gas logs. When we lit the fire that night THE PILOT AGAIN BLEW OUT IN 30 MINUTES. I left a message the same night and two more times the next day-- all calls routed to their answering service. I called a 4th time and used a different path in their phone tree- one that didn't describe my actual needs. However I did reach an actual employee- he said his name was JAMES and he was the CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER. I explained I had called multiple times and reported my problem. I asked for an immediate service call since we had waited so long already. He said he could not get anyone out today and I must wait an additional 4 days. He was very cut an dry-- no response to their making a contract customer wait again following a failed service visit. As a kicker, James did add Cyprus Air WOULD CHARGE US $179 FOR THE SERVICE CALL if there was no problem. What? --The pilot light went out, --they installed the log system, and --they ran the gas line to it. I took his comment, after the extensive waits AND needing a repeat repair, as the antithesis of providing good customer service. I am hoping we do get a call verifying our appointment before the next service date. And most of all, I am hoping the tech actually fixes the problem because we will have been WAITING FOR REPAIR FOR OVER TWO WEEKS since we first reported the problem. read more

After some back and forth, I was able to speak with another person from Cyprus, who had the appropriate amount of customer service training and general courtesy you would expect from a business. While I would still caution others to ever deal with Kadeem, I do think Cyprus is trying to do the right thing. read more

We purchased a gas log unit from Cyprus Air last month. The sales process felt a bit rushed and formulaic but the prices were reasonable and they handled the gas line install. Not bad sales process - their customer service post sale is really bad - here's details if you wish to read it. After that initial sale, getting a call back or information from them is tough. We have an account manager. I am not sure that we have ever spoken with him... Joe or John. Whenever I call he is on another call or away from his desk. I get a call from someone else days later without any knowledge that I had called - interestingly once I called to report that pressure in the line was well below 10psi. I happened to get a call the following week from someone trying to schedule my inspection. He seemed a bit chagrined that the pressure was so low. I clearly had a gas leak and we could not have the inspector out with that! He scheduled their tech to come the ... following WEEK! Thankfully we had been able to determine that the leak was outside and not inside the home while we were waiting for a call from them. Wonder if this was his home if it would have waited another 4 days? Issues with inspection scheduling. No calls back. Lots of down time waiting for inspector who did not show. Reschedulings that I was not consulted on and did not find out about until I called and forced someone to tell me about as my accountant was once again on the phone. Note - we did negotiate that final payment is not due until final inspection is successfully completed. Given their lack of follow thru on customer service issues, I would highly recommend this. read more

Had an amazing experience with Cyprus Air. I am so happy I did not read these reviews before making my decision to use them. My salesperson Markus Mason was a true gem. Explained everything to me in great detail and was with me through the entire process, keeping me informed of each step. The installers were friendly and took their time doing the install. Based on a March 8, 2018 ad in the Washington Post, Cyprus is offering to sell you a whole house backup generator for $15,696 (72 months x $218 per month) with 0 per cent financing. Visual Electric sells the same unit for about $8,000 with payment upon completion of install. So how is this 0 per cent financing? It isn't. It is usury. Avoid this company!!!! read more

It appears that Cyprus misdiagnosed the problem with my A/C. I got a second opinion, suspecting they may have been wrong, and got a different diagnosis from a competitor. When I followed up with Cyprus and told them about the other diagnosis their technical and sales depts. made a lot a big talk about standing by their original diagnosis, and offering to replace the additional parts if they were wrong. That all sounded great, except now they won't give me the quote they promised, and it has been 8 days of me calling every day to follow up and not getting an explanation for the delay. I highly suspect they are just waiting me out so that I will just go with the competitor and they won't have to admit their mistake. A note to Cyprus: if you get it wrong, own up and apologize and give me my diagnostic fee back. read more

This is the worst company you could ever call for your heating and/or cooling needs. The contractors give you a window block but show up hours later; they force you into a maintenance plan by telling you one thing when you purchase but switch up once installation is complete; and they have the rudest and most incompetent customer service reps that you'll ever encounter. I've had many contractors install projects at my house and this is my first time ever ever having to leave a negative review. STAY AWAY FROM CYPRUS!!!! read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. They are extremely friendly and helpful during the initial stages however once they have your money you hear NOTHING from them. We've been paying $40 a month for an annual check up/ maintenance. I had it scheduled today between the hours of noon-4 (I know worst then Verizon's 2 hour window). It's now 4:30 and I have yet to hear from them. I called for an update, and like every time I've tried "they're experiencing high call volume" so you speak to a call center that NEVER gets back to you. Again we're paying for this service. I was hesitant at first about contracting with Cyprus because low Yelp stars. But I decided to go with them after getting a great salesperson and a bid $1500 cheaper than other similar companies. They were excellent. Financing was easy;I received a followup call with an install date two days later; and even though there was a 3 week wait for install everything went exactly as scheduled. They were professional, informed and courteous. I did not commit to the maintenance plan, however, and will check out prices independently when it's time to do maintenance. read more

Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE! Do yourself a favor and steer clear of these guys. They do not complete the work and are not punctual when they promise to come out. The office and dispatch has no idea where their technicians are and when they will show up. The office promises call backs when you inquire but they never, ever call. SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION. I wish I had seen the Yelp reviews before I purchased from this company. I went to the Rockville store and my salesman, Corey, was nice and very helpful, but once we got to the scheduling it became and ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! First, they came out and only did half of the work because the person who came out didn't know the order of things, so he installed only the line and not the logs. Overall, I had at least 4 different appointments scheduled where no one showed up at all. One time, I took the day off of work and called the company to confirm that morning and they said I was good to go. When no one showed up, they blamed it on me. The people in the scheduling department are a TOTAL nightmare too. Kiya and Mercedes would keep me on hold or tell me they would call back to confirm in 15 minutes and 3 hours later, no call. I am not usually a difficult customer, but this was above and beyond the WORST experience I have ever had. The bigger problem is, no one cares. I tried to reach "Peter," the owner, to let him know what was going on and with 3 calls and messages, no one ever got back to me. After about 2 months of headaches, I have a working gas fireplace, but I would NEVER call this company to service them or do ANYTHING for me again. PLEASE go elsewhere. read more

I hesitated leaving a review because everyone deserves a chance to fix a problem as they do happen. This company is so disorganized. They must outsource the people who answer their phones. When my gas logs were installed, they did not bring enough gravel so one side has none as you will see from the picture. The installers were very nice and did a good job. Even the inspector said you have to call them to get more gravel. When I called the first time a lady said she would have some gravel sent out. I waited 2 weeks before I called again. Then I spoke to a man who didn't know what to do so he kept me on hold only for 10 minutes only to come back on to say he would give me a call the next day. Never happened. Then I called again and a man said he would set up a service call for today Nov 16th and someone would call ahead to give me a time frame for the service call. No one did. I called this morning and a woman took all my info and said she would get back to me. She never did. I gave it an hour and I called back and the man said between 11 and 2. It is 3:45 and no one is here. Time is precious for everyone and my day is wasted. I called around three and got a lady who could not tell me anything (outsourced I suspect) but would leave a message for a technician. That didn't go well this morning so I wasn't expecting it would now. I decided to give it one more call and finally spoke to a woman who actually knew what she was doing. She said a technician would be here as soon as he finished the site he was at. All for some gravel. And if you ask to speak to a manager they say they can take care of it. Very disappointed. Because their product is actually nice. An update the same installers just arrived. They were very nice and understood the problem and helped to make the fireplace look like it should. read more

STAY AWAY from this company. We bought a system and it was installed very poorly. We had to call the company 3-5 times during the first 3 months. It broke so often that they convinced us to sign a service contract. It stopped working another FIVE times so we finally got another system installed from a different company.
