He was on top of every last detail and when we had two unforeseen issues come up during demolition, he was quick to provide us a thorough assessment of the issue, several options, and his professional recommendation. I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.

All the work they've done has exceeded my expectations. Fernando is very knowledgeable, punctual, friendly, and respectful, and sets realistic expectations about the timeline of each project and what it will entail. As a young woman, I have had many negative experiences with other sexist contractors who assume that I lack enough knowledge in their field (electrical, plumbing, etc.) or that I have no common sense, and so they try to scam me or get away with poor quality work. It has been the opposite with Fernando. He takes the time to patiently and kindly answer every single one of my many questions, and explains things to me as many times as I need him to, always treating me like an equal. I have an old house, built in 1921, and in the decades before I owned it, it went through renovations that were not done well. This has meant that now every serious project in the house must be done carefully to ensure that it remains structurally sound and safe both in the short and long term. I only trust Fernando to do any work in the house at this point, because I regretted every other time I hired someone else. I appreciate so much that he always thinks about how to make the result even better than I asked for, and without me asking, cares enough to use his knowledge to come up with ways to make the best of this house that I love despite its limitations (e.g. building recessed shelves to maximize limited space). His prices are shockingly fair and he gives detailed invoices outlining his projected labor costs. If anything unforeseen comes up that might lead to increased costs, he immediately addresses it with you to discuss options and ensure you are comfortable with the outcome. His team cleans up after themselves and you can see that he treats his workers with respect. The projects he'd done for me include (but are not limited to): -Fixing a collapsed wall in the crawl space of my basement (it was so bad, you could see the roots of a tree from inside the house) and ensuring water could no longer leak into the house - Removing an old retaining wall and building a stunning brand new one - Replacing old floors with ceramic and vinyl ones - Building and painting a fence - Building a concrete walkway in my yard and fixing an old one - Fixing the flow of rainwater in my yard to protect the house from water damage - As well as less complex tasks like painting my interior walls And now, he is currently finishing my basement which is a very complex project given the limitations of the house, but I know it'll exceed my expectations as before. We're very happy with the outcome of our kitchen. Communication - A kitchen renovation job is a lot of work, time, and communication in between the owner and contractor. Alex does a great job of listening to you and providing good solutions, and makes you feel like you are his only client. Our project required a lot of attention to detail and meticulous planning, and Alex's patience and lighthearted communication style was easy to work with. They tore off our old exterior stairs structure and siding, waterproofed the entire wall, and installed new siding and a stairs structure that is far superior to the old one. Their integrity and work quality are off the charts. The owner, Ahmad Khreshi, did thorough research before starting our well-planned project. I was impressed by his knowledge of current construction techniques and dedication to doing the job right. There were several problems that required Ahmad to think outside of the box, one being how to install siding under our existing power lines conduit which was mounted to the exterior wall at six different points. Several times, Ahmad's crew discovered water damage due to poor work by our developer. Ahmad was extremely flexible in adding repair of that damage into his work plan on top of the bid-upon work. Ahmad was kind and fair, listened to our concerns, answered our questions, kept us in the loop, worked with us on timing, and gave us a couple breaks. His crew was extremely professional and respectful, taking off their shoes when they had to come through the building and isolating interior work areas with plastic sheet dividers. When our project was completed, Ahmad send us the following. I've never worked with a contractor who followed up with an offer of help like this: "Remember, you can always reach out with any technical building related questions, in any trades.
