Absolutely horrible experience with Clean Flow. They came out to repair the starter on our gas fireplace and said the unit needed cleaning. After servicing it, they failed to put the logs back correctly and left the flue closed. Within hours, soot blew throughout our entire house. Black soot covered walls, ceilings, upholstery, linens, and furniture in nearly every room. The damage was catastrophic. We had to go through our homeowners insurance because the cleanup costs exceeded $60,000. The restoration required professional soot remediation, sealing and repainting walls, cleaning all upholstery and fabrics, and extensive cleaning throughout the entire home. What made this even worse was the company's response afterward. They would not provide the business owner's information or their business insurance information, and they took absolutely no responsibility for the damage caused by their work. We were left to handle the nightmare ourselves. read more

The one star is for fixing the issue. I originally looked at all the 4-5 star ratings but if you look closely there are several 1-2 star ratings. And those are for gas fireplaces, which is where my issue was. The initial contact was prompt and the initial visit and estimate were fine. I was, like two of the other 1-2 star reviews, double charged on my first invoice and I had to bring that to their attention. It was rectified. When John came back out to fix the issue, he couldn't. He needed another part. So John had to place the order. He came back and now he can't replace the part because he needs a vac to take up all the stones (which were there for both prior visits). And the owner has only now told me they should not have to deal with post factory upgrades but no one ever mentioned that. If that's the case, the job should not have been taken on! I have been "challenged" by the owner to find better prices. The emails received from the owner regarding this issue, and my review, are disappointing and accusatory. Please take your business elsewhere if you are in need of gas fireplace help. One last point, when I asked John why he had not realized he'd need a vac when he was previously here, he told me I should have more empathy and that he's not making stuff up. When a customer provides feedback or asks questions, they should not be treated this way. Especially for the money I spent. read more

We had another company come out first but they claimed there was a bird nest in the venting and asked for 3 times what I expected to pay. I took a picture myself and saw lint but no nest. I spoke with Dave who gave me the pricing info up front and had me scheduled for an appointment the same week. Our technician, Patrick, was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He took his time to explain what he was going to do and proceeded with the cleaning of my fireplace and chimney. He made sure to cover the hearth and surrounding floor to keep them from getting dirty. He showed me the live stream from the camera he put inside the chimney to show there wasn't any structural damage. He cleaned it and then worked on cleaning the fireplace box and logs. He even did a tune-up on our gas line assembly. He then let us video his tutorial on how to prep and start the fireplace after the gas was turned on and how to turn it off. Had them out for gas service on my ventless fire place. Their technician, came out and assessed my gas fireplace and said that it was in a good working order and left and I let it run for a few hours. It's smelled like gas terribly. Called the technician back and he said, no that is how it's supposed to smell that I just needed to get used to it. Turned it off for the night and let the pilot run and woke up in the morning and the house completely smelled like gas. I called them back and they told me again that that was normal and their technician was off for two weeks and would get back to me. I'd completely turn the fireplace off and shut all the gas down. I called another technician and Fast-forward to today when another gas technician came out and immediately discovered a major gas leak in my fireplace. I observed his gas meter go off immediately as he moved the wand towards the center of the gas fireplace. Clean flow pros technician should be fired. My house could've burned to the ground because someone didn't do their job properly. I even called them out on it and was told that it was normal for the gas fireplace to smell as it did. I made several phone calls to clean flow pros and was told that the technician would get back to me in a couple of weeks. Do not use this company to service your gas fireplace. Oh, and they also double charged me and had to refund me a few days later. read more

I contacted this company since people gave high ratings on Yelp. The first time the technician came out to inspect the gas fireplace was in November and charged $99. They forwarded me an invoice for the $890 (the estimate said Gas Fireplace pilot Assembly) - a $99 visit fee (which I paid at the time of inspection) = $791.00. One of our clients shared a home improvement company that can fix just about everything, so I contacted him last night, and he fixed it for $250 within 1.5 hours today. He did the following work: Gas fireplace thermocouple service, pilot light service, service front burner and rear burner, and restocked log set properly. The fireplace is working perfectly and I saved a lot of money. I just didn't feel comfortable about paying $890 since the fee didn't sound reasonable. I don't know what happened but it's very hard finding an honest and knowledgeable company since the Covid. read more

The only surprise was that the furnace blow out is not included in the original flat fee. The charge was approx $250, which was in line with online estimates of $200-500. This review is for dryer vent cleaning. I was very happy with the service provided, and I would use Pro Chimney again. The cleaning cost the flat rate advertised on their website, and I was able to schedule something within a two days after calling. I was given a heads up over the phone that the service could cost more depending on the location/accessibility of the dryer vent. I'd say it's best if you know the location of this in advance so that they can give you the most accurate quote possible. The technician was communicative about his schedule and let me know when he was 30 minutes away. He took off his shoes and wore a mask at my request, which I really appreciated. The cleaning was fast and there were no up charges. I'm glad I hired a service instead of trying (and failing) to clean my dryer vent myself. read more

This firm's gas fireplace business is based on upselling - getting you to buy a part or system at a premium price that you may or may not need. I requested that they come to do maintenance on two fireplaces. John, without even checking the batteries in the remote receiver, said I needed BOTH a new remote and receiver. Claimed that only paired remote and receiver would work together. For parts that are available on Amazon for $102, he quoted me $275. When I said that was too high, he countered at $250, claiming the premium included a one year warranty - for which no written record was provided. Appears he is partly paid on a commission basis. When he went downstairs, he quickly concluded that a new gas fireplace insert was needed. When he sent me a quote for $1,250, I brought in Six Penny. UPDATE: Since the initial service I realized that my Attic HVAC was switched off by the workers, using the plainly marked "Emergency Shutoff Switch". I had to get my ladder and climb up and turn it back on when I found my upstairs was 85 today on Father's Day. For folks that don't go in their attic, this would have been a service call to the HVAC company and would have cost money. Also, independently, I have received over 15 calls, texts, and emails asking 'what they can do' after my 'bad' review. I have not engaged, I have no interest in getting some money back so they can bait & switch more customers. Now, I'm very concerned that I need to crawl around in my attic and verify that the dryer duct is indeed connected back up properly, and verify it was actually cleaned. My experience with this company was very negative. We hired them for a very common issue - to clear a dryer vent. Our LG ThinQ dryer indicated a blockage in the vent pipe that needed to be cleared out. Long story short, this company literally made the problem worse (details below) and refused to give even a partial refund unless I promised to not post a negative review, which is against Yelp's Terms of Service. Really makes you wonder if their high rating is legit at all.... Stay away unless you want to spend double hiring another company to actually clear out your dryer vent properly. Pros: - Quick and easy to schedule over Yelp. - Arrived on time. Cons: - Upcharged $100 from the quoted cost upon arrival for a bogus reason (though I didn't know it at the time). They claimed my dryer vent was very long (over 45 feet?! due to 'multiple bends' in the vent pipe). Funnily enough, another dryer vent technician we hired afterwards said our vent was no longer than 20 feet and only had two bends at most. - Did NOT provide before and after pictures as promised. For us, they claimed they couldn't due to the multiple bends in the vent pipe. This would've been forgivable if their "service" didn't worsen the initial problem. - Dishonest. Lied about the length of our dryer vent and why they didn't use a vacuum. They claimed it was "a long run vent" and that was the reason they didn't use a vacuum. When I asked why another company was able to use a vacuum, they completely ignored that bit and tried to buy me out with a partial refund (see screenshot). - Dishonest x2. Offered only a partial refund contingent on not posting a negative review, which is against Yelp's Terms of Service. To add insult to injury, they only offered to refund me $100 off of $229. FYI they initially quoted me $129, then added a surcharge of $100 on-site claiming the length of my dryer vent was longer than 25 feet, which turned out to be a lie, so they really weren't providing much of a refund at all. Detailed review: We have an LG ThinQ dryer that we purchased in the last two months. It was giving us a Flow Sense d80 error (means the dryer duct is 80% blocked). We called Pro Chimney due to the good reviews, though now I wonder how many negative reviews were not posted (more on that later). Booking an appointment went smoothly, but it was all downhill from there. The technician said he had to charge an extra $100 on top of the original quote of $129 upon arrival. He also used a rather rickety looking brush to "clean" out the dryer pipe. Strangely, the air flow from the outside was worse than before, nearly non-existent. The tech said it's because LG dryers don't generate a lot of air flow, which didn't make sense since the airflow hadn't been THIS bad before he arrived, but we trusted him when he said the dryer should be safe to use whether we felt any air flow from the external vent or not. After he left, we ran a small load and our dryer gave us a d95 error (vent was now 95% blocked), which confirmed that whatever Pro Chimney did literally blocked the duct MORE. When I reached out about this, the company had a whole laundry list of excuses why they wouldn't provide a refund (see screenshot), all of which turned out to be lies according to the second company we hired that actually fixed the problem. Basically, all we got from that first visit was more worries and a barely functioning dryer. As a last resort before returning the brand new dryer and/or calling a general contractor to tear up the floor to inspect the ductwork, we called another local dryer vent cleaning company (won't name them, but they are also on Yelp and service NoVA) because they offered a money-back guarantee and said they would use a vacuum, as well as brush, to clean the duct. When the second technician arrived, he disconnected the dryer and used a vacuum as a first step. A ton of lint came out of the dryer duct from that alone (see pic of how much ADDITIONAL lint they pushed out of our vent). Then he did a brush cleaning as a second step from both ends. Finally, when he did a dryer test run, we could actually see and feel air blasting out of the outside vent. There have been no more Flow Sense errors and haven't seen any since! This technician also confirmed all the excuses Pro Chimney shared as to why they weren't able to clear out all the lint were false. TDLR: Don't use this company or trust the high rating you see here. read more
