It has been four weeks since the visit and the company does not answer the telephone requiring that you leave a voice message. Our many phone calls have not returned. I wanted a replacement for my gas logs that was able to put out heat in my family room. The gas log that I had before had a temperature control gauge that monitored the temperature in the room. I thought I was getting an upgrade of what I had before. There was no temperature control and the replacement did not give out any heat. I called the company and was told it was for ambiance and not for heating. I requested a refund and for the gas logs to be removed because that was Not what I paid more than 2,500 for. I had put off getting our gas fireplace inspected and serviced for a few years due to bad experiences with previous HVAC and fireplace service companies (including some that couldn't even put the logs back on correctly). So what a relief it was to find ABDB Home Services. The technician sent, Craig, was very pleasant and had lots of previous experience servicing gas fireplaces, so knew his stuff. He arrived wearing a protective mask and told me up front about how long the service would take. He was thorough, and explained what he was doing and why. He was kind enough to educate me on simple things that no previous contractor (and no instruction manual) had told me about maintaining a gas fireplace properly, including how to space and spread the embers and what products to use/avoid using to clean the glass doors. Thanks to the service, the bad smell is gone, the flames burn tall and bright again, and I can rest assured that the unit is operating safely. And ABDB was able to send someone out in time so we could enjoy the fireplace during the 2020 Christmas season, when we were stuck at home. (Jason, the owner, also followed up and texted me right after Christmas to make sure everything was working properly). I give ABDB 5 stars for their courtesy, knowledge, honesty, efficiency, and follow up -- combined with reasonable pricing. I trust them to do the job right and would definitely use them again. There were a couple of communication glitches I feel I should point out to help both the company and future potential customers. First, I initially tried to contact the company via their contact/quote form on their website. I did not hear back after more than a week. So I called the number. Jason, the owner, immediately picked up the phone, was very courteous, and got me scheduled promptly. I assume that the company had a problem with its website contact form, which happens. So don't hesitate to call them. Second, I had scheduled the appointment for a Friday, but the technician showed up a day earlier while I was out in the driveway. Apparently, they had emailed me to notify me of the scheduling change, but I missed the message (I found it later). This was not a big deal, because I am home these days, anyway.
