    Blackburn Chimney was a fantastic experience from start to finish! My consult before the quote with Eddie was very satisfying because he's a straight shooter and very knowledgeable. He even referred me to an unaffiliated professional so that I could get another opinion about my problematic double-sided fireplace. Contracting and deposit payments were all done electronically making things very convenient and they were able to get me scheduled for the work within a couple days of signing the contract. Crew #1 for flue relining came in HOT! Right on time; two trucks, a crew of 4+ guys. They set up their extensive operation in the front yard in the blink of an eye; likewise for prepping my rooms with tarps and tenting (they moved so fast, they tented over my home office desk that I needed to use that afternoon but Mario made sure it was uncovered for me on time). I had a flue lining that had made home inspectors and other contractors gasp in horror! Blackburn's crew was like a machine and got the work done in one day because rain was forecast the following day. Crew #2 for refacing the tile front of the fireplace were true artisans. They managed to remove the existing tile face with no damage to the hearth and the tile cuts were meticulously accurate around the wood mantle. The pattern of my tile choice was a bit intricate but they made it flow perfectly and the grouting (Eddie picked the color) was the perfect color and installed beautifully. Brian came later for finishing work that was just the cherry on top! He painted the inside of the firebox, re-set my gas log set and did a fantastic job "dressing" the log set with rock wool "embers" that look 1,000% better than before. All members of the Blackburn crew including Alexandra in the office communicate well and let you know what to expect each step of the way - and they check in after to make sure you're satisfied. Highly recommend!

At that time I said rather than pay extra for and fireplace I didn't like I would just get it. For years I would search to see if I could find the right fireplace and I would find the fireplace but never a contractor that could install or frame. During the pandemic I had a smidge more time on my hands and did my research. Rosemary was so responsive to my internet ways. Typically I like to have an idea of the price range before someone comes over. I KNOW it isn't final but I would hate to waste someone's time if I know the budget is out of reach. She was willing to give me the range based off of pictures of the space and what I wanted. She also was very responsive via text and email and extremely patient with me. Her costumer service made me think we were old friends . The prices for the scope of work was very good - especially since I hate having to get different contractors for different parts. They had the electrician, the person to frame the fireplace, move my speaker, and mount my tv. The BEST part was I didn't have to have my husband giving me the "I told you so" when I get a contractor and they do something wrong. They wore masks, socially distanced, and vacuumed and left the space cleaner than they found it. Now my only issue is to get new furniture to give their work justice.

I bought their 1 yr service contract - they discounted the price of the fireplaces by the cost of a one year service contract and extended the warranty - so why not? It is now the end of the one year period and I want to cancel and cut all ties with this horrible firm. They are refusing to cancel the contract - even though I have made all payments. So now we have to go to the credit card company and courts to get them to stop billing. From A to Z, this has been a horrible experience. Stay away from this company!

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY…read more We scheduled for 1pm and expected them to arrive within the hour. By 1:57pm, I had sent an email, two texts, and I had made several calls. I received a response via text, saying to expect the person at 2:45pm. That was the last thing I ever heard from them! We had to change our plans and errands to accommodate for the lateness (and eventual no-show) of a company that didn't even give us the dignity of telling us they wouldn't be able to make it. They just ignored our continued messages for 4 more hours! The only good part about this story is that they don't charge until the appointment is kept, so we didn't have to fight through the same level of apathy to get any money back. We just wasted an entire afternoon, missed deadlines, and piled up tasks could have been completed if only we'd known not to wait for them! This was a horrible experience and we hope they don't get the chance to treat anyone else so carelessly. They only get the one star because zero wasn't an option. No show. No apology. No attempt to reschedule. No notification that they could no longer provide the service. UNACCEPTABLE! If you are reading this BE WARNED! KEEP AWAY! DON'T DO IT!

Demand is really high during the holidays, but I booked my appointment during an available time online so as a customer it's hard for me to understand how my appointment was missed. I was able to get an available appointment same day; however, I was completely inconvenienced. To top it off, I was charged double to triple the amount for the most basic wall mount available. What really irks me is that I was inconvenienced and still overcharged for the service. This is not how you treat customers who have already supported this business multiple times. Please don't take advantage of your customers this way!

    When we moved in the building wasn't finished. The pool leaked into several apartments and…read moredestroyed them. There was mold and water damage. A family had to move out and the neighbors next door had to move as well. We then had to endure construction for well over 6 months right above and outside our window. Then we have always had issues with the management. There have been like 4 property managers since 2017. The new one is clueless & doesn't know how to handle the building. Over the past 7 months, my emails to management have been mostly ignored. They were in the middle of an owner change. The property manager quit and they fired someone I loved who worked as a concierge. Then the temporary replacements were horrible to deal with and they harassed me several times for being in my car out front of the building. I was told to move several times and to go to my parking spot. There is no WiFi in the garage. They also came to my apartment to harass me for noise and then called the Crisis Center. They then threatened me with legal action for crying and having issues after my husband walked out on me. I have been having a really hard time and my neighbor has been harassing me since my husband left continually calling paramedics, police, crisis center, building security, etc for any little noise in my apartment. She also accused me of throwing things at the wall. Because of this, my lease is not being renewed I guess and I have to move. The management won't talk to me about it or about how I've been treated by my neighbor who verbally assaulted me and tried to come after me in the garage when I wasn't driving fast enough. The view is great. The pool is great. But these apartments are not worth the amount they cost per month. I have a small 1 bd/bath. It's fine for an MPDU, but it's pretty small to be paying over $2k. So it's disappointing that after being here since 2017, I am being kicked out. I'm also disabled which makes this a nightmare for me. They have had no sympathy whatsoever and got involved in confidential matters that never should have happened. I have so much on video and have evidence against this place, but the county could care less. I'm glad I'm leaving but will miss living here tbh. I met some really nice people and I will miss the pool, but that neighbor won't stop calling people on me continually and nothing has been done to resolve the matter. There is more, but that's the summary of how badly we've (now I) been treated here.

    Decided to do an update to this review to explain more of my interaction with the actual leasing…read morestaff and management especially after the business owner's response makes it seem like they were willing to "assist me in any way". They were not. At all. I've had a few people message me privately about this review because they were interested in The Pearl as well. After the denial and me explaining the situation (the DISMISSED court case with a balance of 0 that was NOT on my part of my credit file but a court case dig up by Rentgrow belonged to a parent from 2012 while I was a student away at college) I was told blatantly that that did not matter and that The Pearl would not "accept me with this on my record" and that it was "up to me to dispute it" even after showing them a copy of my parents lease in Ohio, proof that I was a student in Maryland with my own lease, a spotless credit and rental history. They did not budge and would not even speed the process along with rentgrow or verify that rent grown passed documentation along to their vendor. The business owner's response is misleading. Especially since after the dispute was finished and ended in my favor they wanted me to REAPPLY all over again and start the entire process over instead of just working with me to choose another apartment that was available since I had already gone through a credit check, paid a deposits, fees, etc.
