He walked me through several options and recommended that I repair the roof rather than spend more money to replace it, since the roof was still in pretty good shape overall. They were able to come out and inspect my roof soon after I called, and gave me a list of options that same day in a no pressure and informative sort of way. I really appreciated the fact that they don't try to upsell you - just give you a sense of the best option for your roof and the likely life of the roof if you're like me and you just need a reseal. Then if you do decide to move forward with them, they set a date, PROACTIVELY COMMUNICATE with you if there's weather delays or what-have-you and the date moves (a big plus for me - hate babysitting contractors), and do the work quickly and professionally. We got quotes from a few companies to patch a few holes in our silicone seal on our roof that flagged in our home inspection. While United Roofing was certainly not the cheapest, they offered a much more comprehensive plan to replace the seal and apply extra steps to ensure areas that had been poorly applied by the previous owner would not cause issues. Their team also offers a more comprehensive warranty program and credits towards a new roof when that becomes necessary. I requested an estimate from several companies to repair and reseal a porch roof. United was very responsive and sent someone out the same day to assess the damage and provide an estimate. Joe arrived and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He explained the root cause of the issue and the exact repair process, answered all of my questions and, importantly, explained the company's guarantee on their work - all things that set United apart from most others provided estimates. We received a detailed estimate via email the same day. As luck would have it, as we were scheduling the porch roof repair, a storm hit and we noticed slight leaks in two rooms. We contacted United and Joe again came out right away to view the damage, identify the cause and explain the repair process. We promptly received an updated, detailed estimate. The work was completed two days ago and we could not be happier with the end product. The team repaired, sealed and coated the entire roof, not just the porch, over the course of about seven hours on a hot day. They also sealed around a roof deck and exterior windows even though it was not part of the original estimate. Joe again came out to check on the work and his father (who's name I unfortunately can't remember) was onsite most of the day supervising. On top of being extremely knowledgeable and professional, the team is also very personable. I had several great conversations with them over the course of the day. Great service! Last time I have a full roof replace was 2003. I had my home full gut/remolded 2016/2017 with rear bumped out, so new addition. The general contractor and his workers were not roofing specialist and did a membrane covering at the main roof and I had leaking issues I had them back on my roof multiple times to troubleshoot, fix leaking. Then, any snow DC gets, I started getting dampness inside front guest suite (facing front street) around dormers and the dormer casings and dry wall and a few other spots. But I knew I really needed another new roof and I found United Roofing LLC on Yelp! Joe came and assessed my roofing issues, made suggestions what was needed and what he would do if this was his house and also made suggestions of what was not needed or necessary. I had my new roof installed (all day process) Nov 2nd 2023 and I was home the whole time. They did a great job! I met Joe's dad and Joe himself makes check points on the roof before, during and after the work was completed and yes I went on my roof also to check. Though the price is of higher cost, I feel the peace of mind and longevity of the roof is well worth it. As they "Say, you get what you pay for." So don't cheap out especially when it comes to getting your roof replaced/repaired. read more

I recently had my house gutters cleaned by United Roofing. The gutters are a problem because there is a large Magnolia at one corner of the house, which sheds a lot of leaf debris into the gutters. After consulting with several roofing companies in DC about a leaky roof and chimney repair, we went with United Roofing for several reasons: First, the customer service was exceptional. We worked with Joe who came to our home to inspect the roof and affected areas. Joe was the only one out of the several top-rated DC roofing companies we talked to who gave a well-rounded diagnosis that wasn't just "your roof is old, you should do a full replacement" and included important details no one else noticed. In his debrief after the inspection, he walked through the different options available to us. We appreciated his honesty--this is usually the point when a salesman will push their priciest option (full teardown), but Joe earned our trust by not only sharing what he would do if it were his own home, but also standing by it with conviction. He had many opportunities to pressure us to spend more money but chose not to because it did not align with his professional diagnosis of the problem. It also helps greatly that Joe brought a very friendly attitude and was quick to respond to questions throughout our engagement. Second, there is an attention to craft. When the team completed the chimney repair (spot tuckpointing), we noticed streaks of mortar on the chimney that were not very aesthetically pleasing. It had rained later in the day and the mortar may not have had enough time to dry and set. To be honest, it was slighly disappointing to see at first, but the disappointment didn't rise to the level where we would raise an issue with the company. That is why I was pleasantly surprised when Joe called me after the job and said--without any prompting--that he was going to dispatch the team to touch up the chimney because the work didn't meet his standards. As a homeowner, you quickly appreciate how much of a difference good craftsmanship can make. Joe could have very easily overlooked the streaks and wrapped up the job, but he didn't. Customers notice these things. Third, when we worked with United Roofing in June 2024, they offered a very attractive program in which the patch-and-repair job included three follow-ups in case there were any issues down the road. If the issues persisted after the follow-ups and a new roof is deemed necessary, the cost of the patch-and-repair job would be rolled into a roof replacement. The offer is for the property, which means a new homeowner could take advantage of it should they need to. What this tells me as a customer is that the company is able to stand behind its work as I am sure it wouldn't be very economical if their teams were constantly being called back and the company had to compete with othes for full roof replacements at market rates. While we hope to never have to leverage this offer, it gave us peace of mind and confidence to go with United Roofing. Only time will tell whether the work holds up and I will update this review accordingly. However, my recent experience with United Roofing gives me reason to believe I can work through issues with them in a professional manner. Highly recommend! read more

We had an overflowing gutter along the back of our house, so I reached out to United for an estimate and visit; they got back to me within hours, and were able to come by within days. Joe was the technician who visited, and he was *fantastic* -- he immediately solved the issue, was honest about what was and wasn't worth the money to prevent the issue moving forward, took the time to do a detailed roof inspection while he was on the roof, and was ALSO honest about what was and wasn't worth the money with the few things he noticed on the roof. There's no question that I'll be calling United later this fall to take care of the gutters when an oak tree overhanging our house does its thing, and will be calling them again when it's time to replace our roof. During the first of two recent DC storms, my downspout was yanked from my house. I contacted several roofing companies.
