Had my roof replaced by Boyd Construction Company this past May and I'm very pleased with the service. Professional, courteous, prompt and efficient service, good pricing. All necessary parts to a successful project. I have been a customer of Boyd Construction Company for several years. They recently (May 2024) worked with me to extend the life of my original roof until I was ready to have a new one installed. The original roof was over 20 years old, but holding up. They presented options to help extend its life a few more years so I could prepare for its eventual replacement. Once I was ready they moved in and accomplished the process in one day. Prior to that we had discussions about the the project as a whole, amount of time required, where the debris would be placed and picked up, my options for the materials/colors, etc. Boyd Construction Company has worked on my house before, suggesting I wash and REPAINT my aluminum siding rather than REPLACE it. VERY pleased about that. (And "wash & repaint" was less expensive!) For all of my projects they have provided options to consider. For me that's a plus in any given situation--especially when you are relying on the expertise of others to help you navigate through a project and minimize any "surprises". Not all companies do that. Boyd Construction Company has always presented the full range of a project so we both can map out the best way to a successful result. I cannot say enough good things about this company. We've hired them twice and they will forever be the only people we work with for our roof. John, the owner, explains all the options, gives competitive pricing, and doesn't add any surprise charges at the end. Dee, the office manager, is responsive, no-nonsense, funny, and will go out of her way to get answers to any questions you have. She reminds me of Donna from Suits, which is about the highest compliment you can give someone who Gets Things Done. Above all, though, they're both incredibly kind people. I gave myself heat stroke trying to get our roof ready, and when I called Dee and told her what I'd done and that I couldn't move everything before the team arrived, she gently reprimanded me that I should have called her first and she would've told me to leave it for the team. When John and his team got here, he said the same thing and that it would be no trouble to move our very very heavy planters and I didn't need to pay anything extra, even though I offered twice. After they finished, he agreed that the planters were definitely too heavy for me to move back myself, and he would send some guys to move them where I'd like them after the roof has cured. I am back to request the services of Boyd Construction company. Finally, it's time to replace the roof. Have used their services several times over the past 7+ years, including applying sealant to the roof--twice--to extend its life; monitoring a trouble spot "fixed" by another company several years before that was not aging well from increasing periods of heavy rain; and repainting the aluminum siding (over 25 years old)--after a powerwash. Boyd said the old aluminum was in good shape; did not need to be replaced. Just needed a good ​ powerwash before applying the new base and top coats. I was/am very pleased with the result. Now, it's time to deal with the roof. Nothing specific . Those with older homes know you can tell when an aspect of your house is telling you it needs maintenance/repair. And it's an area ​ where waiting too long may result in an emergency situation. My house was built in the early 1950s . It's in pretty good shape but when an area starts to become a ​ point of concern I take note and follow up and is called maintenance. Have NO regrets about having the sealant placed on the roof--twice-- rather than replacing it immediately several years ago. The sealant bought me TIME--several years in fact-- to position that project when it would be easier on several levels. So, I've contacted Boyd Construction and we have worked out what is to be done before Summer. And I'm comfortable with the costs involved . To be continued. read more

During a heavy rain our (flat) roof started leaking. Upon the recommendation of a neighbor, I reached out to Boyd Construction and they were able to send someone out the next day to inspect the roof and give us a quote. I was really impressed that they took the time to show me the problems and explain how they would repair the issues. Their quote was very reasonable and they were able to schedule the repairs within a few day of our accepting the quote. The work took only a few hours and the team was on time and performed the work efficiently (from what I could tell from an extremely lay perspective!). I am really happy with the work. We had a leak from our balcony into the living room. Boyd construction came out quickly to diagnose the problem and provided a $1500 quote to fix the insulation and roofing of the balcony. When the workers came out to do the work it turned out that only some silicone sealant was needed around the door, rather than a full fixing of the floor. This work took less than 45 minutes, but Boyd still insisted on a full payment, even though they misdiagnosed the problem. I will not be using them again and I would suggest you do the same if you care about avoiding a rip-off. read more

I am very disappointed in my experience with Boyd. We had a leak in my bathroom and it was coming from the roof. Paid 1500$ to have it fixed along with other items that were suggested to us for roof maintenance. One week later and it's raining in the bathroom again. Took forever to get someone out and they then gave me a list of other repairs that could maybe fix the problem. Gave me another quote for a thousand dollars and change. I called another roofer who went out said that they were wrong and that something else was needed. Cost was half as much as Boyd and they actually fixed the problem. Very disappointing experience. They also don't provide a warranty for their own work.. it had been such a short amount of time and they gave me a whole new to do list for the roof. read more

I asked for an estimate for cleaning my townhouse brick wall at a basement entry. They gave me a number, but when I asked how many men and how many days are involved, the sales lady couldn't answer and stated that it is decided on the day of the job - what?! It appears that they just give you a random number, and you are supposed to agree to it without any reasoning. I asked for any basis for the estimate, and the sales lady couldn't answer. I asked to speak with the person who came up with the number, and she stated that she spoke with the person and that he said, "that's how much it will cost" still without any basis for the number. The Boyd Construction Co., appears well organized (Thank you to Dee, office manager and POC) and have experience from a few generations for re-roofing flat roof (torch down) with Firestone 180 Ceramic Coated. This technology is the best for the flat roof if the workers are highly skilled. John Boyd came for evaluation and estimate on time with his son (son looks very much as the father; it was cute and feels good about the business). We went to the roof to examine it. Without wasting my time John shown and explained me the problems and how it would be fixed. So, I understood what I am getting. The estimate arrived by email next day. Get other bids - they will tell you when they come to look at your roof that they're in the neighborhood anyway and they can do the work right then for a small discount. Then four years later when you have a leak into your bedroom they will tell you the ten-year warranty doesn't cover the hole and want $600 to patch.
