I stayed there 2 nights last weekend. I arrived on a Friday and check-in and customer service was good. I ordered spaghetti from the pub (TC's) and it was very dry and the meatballs didn't even taste like meatballs. I complained to the front desk clerk the next morning and he fully refunded my meal. When I went to shower on Saturday morning, I noticed that the shower head was ridiculously low. I'm only 6'1"(taller than average maybe but not some giant either), and the highest I could get the water from the outdated shower head was mid-chest. I had to contort myself in many ways to complete the shower. Also, the bottom of the tub had a bit of a crack/peel in it, as it and the toilet, hadn't been updated since 1989 when it was built. The rest of the room was updated, very nice and clean. I stayed in an 'executive' suite and was charged for such, but with the severely outdated shower especially, it was not an 'executive' stay. I informed the front desk clerk on Saturday morning about the inadequate shower and he said he could try me in a different room with a higher shower head, which he did, so I switched rooms. The 2nd room was not updated at all and had cigarette burns on the carpet, but clean thankfully and had a higher shower head so I was willing to put up with it, as I had to leave for the day to spend with family, the reason for my trip. Upon returning to the hotel on Saturday night, I went to wash my feet after walking around barefoot, and the tap control would only work for hot, so not working properly. Thankfully I found this out before immersing my whole body for a shower. Unacceptable. Also, this 2nd room was on the 1st floor, and I asked the front desk clerk if anyone would be above me, and he said 'no'. While trying to wash my feet, I could hear thuds from the room above me, obviously some child/children running around. I contacted the general manager about the shower situation and he said he will see what he could do and get back to me in a few minutes, and give me a little discount for the night. The evening front desk lady came to my room and moved me back up to the 2nd floor for my 3rd room within a little over 24 hours of my initial check-in. 3rd room was similar to first, with updates all over, except the shower (which had a crack/peel on the tub bottom, and again ridiculously low) and toilet. I ordered something different from the pub for dinner that night and it was good. The continental breakfast was ok, but could be better, so I ordered instead off the menu. I skipped the shower that morning, as I wasn't going to go through contorting myself again, and waited until I left the hotel and returned home after the ferry.
Overall the customer service that I received was quite good. The rooms were clean and some of them that were partially updated looked great. And I did receive a discount for the 2nd night of my stay. I was almost going to give this hotel a 3 start review because of the good service, but really, the hassles of moving 3 times within 24 hours, not at all good. I would suggest that if the hotel wants to charge for 'executive' rooms, that they actually ensure the customer is getting a room worthy of that type of rate. So Town Centre Hotel, update your damn bathrooms, so your customers can have a decent shower at least!! It's a pretty basic thing.
So, in my opinion, even with the little discount I received for my 2nd night, it was not worth what I paid. Very disappointed. read more
