A good spot for a meal, the biggest selling point being the views. The food was fine. We enjoyed a couple hours here during a lunch in August. PARKING Parking was tight but there was turnover and everyone in our group got a spot without waiting. THE WAIT No wait for a group of 12 at 2pm on a Sunday of a long weekend in August. Our table was on the patio, with beautiful views. Note - no dogs allowed on the patio. THE SERVICE Our server was fast and super friendly. I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with a recent experience at The Grasshopper Pun at Pender Harbor Resort in British Columbia. My husband and I visited The Grasshopper Pub with my service dog. We were shocked and appalled when we were informed that we were not allowed to stay due to the presence of our service animal. To make matters worse, we were asked to provide a "card" for our service dog, a requirement that is not only discriminatory but also illegal under British Columbia law. Service dogs are legally allowed in all public places, including restaurants. The fact that the staff was unaware of this fundamental right is unacceptable. Their refusal to accommodate us not only violated our rights but also created a humiliating and stressful situation. "Disabled people with service animals must be allowed access to all public accommodations. This right takes precedence over all provincial and local laws which might otherwise prohibit animals in those places. Establishments must never ask disabled guests to show proof of disability -- or require proof that their service animals are somehow "certified." Nor can they restrict disabled guests and their service animals to certain areas. Establishments may reject a service animal if it is aggressive, unsafe or disruptive (e.g., excessive or prolonged barking)." We believe that all customers, regardless of disability, deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. The restaurant's ignorant actions are a direct contradiction of these principles. We hope that this incident will serve as a wake-up call for this establishment to educate your staff on the rights of individuals with disabilities and to ensure that such discrimination never happens again. We love love loved the grasshopper pub! Amazing value on incredible food to enjoy this view for hours. I wish I knew our server's name because she was funny and personable (she's the one with the tattooed symbols on her fingers). I got the butter chicken poutine and it was so much food that I saved 2/3 of the meal for us to split later that night. Huge portion & really delicious (I had to pack it so I'd stop eating it and even then I'd crack the lid open and steal a fry) My husband got the Buffalo fried chicken burger and, as a huge fried chicken lover, he said that's the best fried chicken burger he's ever had; I took a bite and would have to agree. If was juicy tender chicken breast meat, breaded and fried so it's just crispy enough to not be oily. Perfection. They were packed and understaffed, but our server didn't let it show. Really easy to get along with and made us feel welcomed. We're lucky in that its only a fifteen minute walk from our b&b, so you'd better believe we're going back (how could we say no to this?) This restaurant on the Sunshine Coast Highway has a spectacular view of the water and mountains. The food was all right. The menu is limited and is a variety of American, pasta, salads and seafood. I got a baked linguini with salmon that was really good but pricey. When we came in, we were told by the bartender to sit wherever we wanted. We went outside and had to dry off a couple chairs covered in water before we could sit down on the patio. In regards to the waitress, she never refilled drinks and didn't check on us once after the food was served. The bathrooms are nice and well kept. It's adjacent to a hotel. WATCH OUT FOR BEING SCAMMED-- I went to the Grasshopper on Friday August 26th for a late afternoon lunch with a couple of friends. After requesting an outside table , we were told there was one but there was massive wasp problem and made sure none of us were allergic to a wasp bite. Not a problem we would deal with it. The service was slow and when the food came the Fried chicken sandwich I ordered was burnt to the crisp! Nobody came back to check How the food was.so I just scraped off the the burnt coating and ate the meat. Terrible for $20. When we got the bill Thought it felt a little high but paid it anyways as were in rush since the meal took so long. Just before getting in the car I looked at the receipt and saw "2 BTL BUD" for $12.98 at the bottom of the bill after the drinks and food. I went back and asked the server what that charge was for?? She replied that was for the table next to us and was put on in error. The funny thing was the tables beside weren't drinking Buds. Wine and craft beers only. This is one of the oldest tourist scams in the book. I am always careful about this in New York City, but did not expect it in Madeira Park. The server gave me back the $13 in cash, but that didn't cover the Liquor Taxes or GST as well as pumping up the price for the 20% tip. Very disappointed about this and the quality of the food. Made a spontaneous stop here on a Tuesday while driving along the coast. As someone from Vancouver I was surprised by how clean and prompt the service was here. I think it must have been one of the very few spots in the village. I took off one star because we were not shown to our seats and we were left standing for a couple minutes with no direction. But the balcony seating was fantastic. The scenery of the water and mountains were amazing! We ordered mussels to start, fish and chips and the spicy chicken quesadilla. 1st visit to this great pub & grill. Stopped on our way back from PW. Best Caesar on the sunshine coast! Made with sirracha instead of Tabasco and came fully loaded (pickled green bean, asparagus and green olive). We shared yam fries, dry ribs (loaded with meat), coconut crusted prawns and a large cup of the house soup..roasted red pepper and crab! That was more than enough for 3 of us! The view was amazing. Only issue was the pesky wasps! They kept trying to eat our dry ribs! Alas, as soon as the food was gone, so were they! Next trip over we will stay at the hotel too! read more

We drive out to the Grasshopper from Gibsons a few times a month and have never been disappointed. We drove out today to have a bowl of their amazing seafood chowder. Upon arrival, they had run out and a new batch wouldn't be ready for 45 minutes . We ordered other meals (which are always great) and our waitress brought out a cup of chowder for each of us on the house! So kind and thoughtful, of course we ate it all. I have lived on the Coast for a little more than a year now and have checked out many of the pubs in my quest for great soups. Although I initially came to the Grasshopper for the awesome chowder, I now come for the beautiful, joyful, outgoing, engaging, friendly and smiling staff!! I am not exaggerating! I have never seen so many cheerful, friendly, genuinely engaged waitresses or waiters. I have never felt more positive and cheerful energy from so many beautiful waitresses and other staff, in a pub. I will be there frequently now, if only to try and get another "you look lovely" from Margot! She made my night! I was too flattered and flabbergasted to respond in kind! Next time. What happens when it is I asked. She said on Saturday night folks were waiting 1.5 hours for their food. Come on now that is ridiculous! In fact we saw a number of tables get seated today only to leave after being told of the wait time. There were 4 of us catching up so it was ok but we did wait at least 45 mins. End result: butter chicken poutine had what tasted like processed butter chicken sauce, there was barely any chicken on the fries and I would not order them again. The calamari was not very good, rubbery and didn't taste fresh and it was expensive for the amount we got. Would we eat here again? Nope! May come for a beer but that's about it. read more

Was visiting the pendor harbour with an eight person group for a birthday weekend. This was the only pub that was local without driving a half hour to Sechelt. Was not expecting much , as it was the only game in town. I was very surprised, as the craft beer list was pretty good! Menus were quite extensive, and best of all, all the food was extremely delicious. All eight of us were super happy with the food and beer. Service was also exceptional.
