We love love loved the grasshopper pub! Amazing value on incredible food to enjoy this view for hours. I wish I knew our server's name because she was funny and personable (she's the one with the tattooed symbols on her fingers). I got the butter chicken poutine and it was so much food that I saved 2/3 of the meal for us to split later that night. Huge portion & really delicious (I had to pack it so I'd stop eating it and even then I'd crack the lid open and steal a fry) My husband got the Buffalo fried chicken burger and, as a huge fried chicken lover, he said that's the best fried chicken burger he's ever had; I took a bite and would have to agree. If was juicy tender chicken breast meat, breaded and fried so it's just crispy enough to not be oily. Perfection. They were packed and understaffed, but our server didn't let it show. Really easy to get along with and made us feel welcomed. We're lucky in that its only a fifteen minute walk from our b&b, so you'd better believe we're going back (how could we say no to this?) Definitely check this place out if you're in town!

    2 BTL BUD SCAM

WATCH OUT FOR BEING SCAMMED-- I went to the Grasshopper on Friday August 26th for a late afternoon lunch with a couple of friends. After requesting an outside table , we were told there was one but there was massive wasp problem and made sure none of us were allergic to a wasp bite. Not a problem we would deal with it. The service was slow and when the food came the Fried chicken sandwich I ordered was burnt to the crisp! Nobody came back to check How the food was.so I just scraped off the the burnt coating and ate the meat. Terrible for $20. When we got the bill Thought it felt a little high but paid it anyways as were in rush since the meal took so long. Just before getting in the car I looked at the receipt and saw "2 BTL BUD" for $12.98 at the bottom of the bill after the drinks and food. I went back and asked the server what that charge was for?? She replied that was for the table next to us and was put on in error. The funny thing was the tables beside weren't drinking Buds. Wine and craft beers only. This is one of the oldest tourist scams in the book. I am always careful about this in New York City, but did not expect it in Madeira Park. The server gave me back the $13 in cash, but that didn't cover the Liquor Taxes or GST as well as pumping up the price for the 20% tip. Very disappointed about this and the quality of the food. CHECK YOUR BILLS if you plan on going there!!!

This restaurant on the Sunshine Coast Highway has a spectacular view of the water and mountains. The food was all right. The menu is limited and is a variety of American, pasta, salads and seafood. I got a baked linguini with salmon that was really good but pricey. When we came in, we were told by the bartender to sit wherever we wanted. We went outside and had to dry off a couple chairs covered in water before we could sit down on the patio. In regards to the waitress, she never refilled drinks and didn't check on us once after the food was served. The bathrooms are nice and well kept. It's adjacent to a hotel. We were going to check it out but told it wasn't open yet for the summer. Limited parking. Food: 3.5 Service: 2 Ambiance: 5 Parking: 3

Killer views..we didn't eat but what we saw go by looked good.drinks were decent and the staff attentive...weirdly it's a pub that closes at 10pm?

Made a spontaneous stop here on a Tuesday while driving along the coast. As someone from Vancouver I was surprised by how clean and prompt the service was here. I think it must have been one of the very few spots in the village. I took off one star because we were not shown to our seats and we were left standing for a couple minutes with no direction. But the balcony seating was fantastic. The scenery of the water and mountains were amazing! We ordered mussels to start, fish and chips and the spicy chicken quesadilla. Mussels were fantastic albeit a bit pricey. It has a east fusion favour. Fish was lightly battered and tasted fresh. Spicy chicken quesadilla was also yummy but not at all spicy!

Starting with the buffet, it was vast with varieties of breads, live omelet counter, a chocolate fountain (every kid's AND adult's dream breakfast item!), fruits, roasted veggies, pancakes, salad bar, hummus, even dumplings! mini burritos, the quintessential sausage, eggs, pastries etc. The spinach feta danish and the mini burrito really stood out The quantity was awesome, taste was good too although I would not say top notch. Coming to the skillet breakfast in lieu of the buffet contained, eggs, potatoes, beautifully buttered and toasted sourdough, tomato, hashbrown, avocado, chicken sausage, chocolate croissant, latte, all of which was awesome with the exception of the sausage which was average. The quantity of the food was not a lot since we were hungry within hours whereas the buffet food was so much that we did not need to eat till dinner! The service was top notch, great ambience with the mountain view, a fireplace, pretty seating.

Oak is part of the JRG fam, which i find hit or miss. I'm a big fan of Livelyhood in port moody (i think they have a great chef cuz the food is usually pretty good). I went to celebrate my nephews 8th birthday there (he said his reasoning was cuz they had good breakfast, and he could watch the hockey game). It was during happy hour so there are some cheaper options. I decided to get 1 corn dog ($4), and the pretzel ($6). When they server came with the food she was like "they accidentally made you 3 corn dog". well hey i'm not complaining! The pretzel arrived and looked ROUGH. i could tell it was going to be awful, i had a few bites and was not having it, it was dry, no salt or seasoning and the dip only worked for the corn dogs. I really enjoyed the corn dogs, they were fresh and tasty! I ended up letting the server know i was not happy with the pretzel and that it was dry and very bland. I usually have decent experiences here, the service is good, nice layout and the food is decent, but this pretzel was rough. She was really nice about my feedback and when my bill came, it was only $4. Thankfully she had taken the pretzel off my bill and was super super nice about it. Shoutout to Breanne! Maybe it's time to switch up the pretzel recipe but all in all, oak is a decent place if you're looking for pub food in langley. I prefer it over townhall for some reason.

The place is part of Mark James group (Yaletown Brewing etc.), so one can already know what to expect if one has been to the other locations. Staff are friendly. Most of them seem to be Australian. Only complaint was that my friends and I couldn't be seated outside on the patio for some reason, even though there were clearly tables available (I didn't see any reserved signs). Not sure why the waitress insisted we sit inside where the place was maybe 30% full, but oh well. The place feels like a giant chalet, with the timber trim everywhere. They have a pizza oven, and the beer production tanks are visible over the kitchen area. There's even a toy train that does a circuit throughout the dining area (look up). One thing worth mentioning is that the bathrooms are on the 2nd floor, which may be a problem for some. Food here is Whistler pricing, so be sure to have deep pockets. I was told to try the High Mountain beef ribs, so there is now 1 less cow out there. 3 bones drenched in BBQ sauce, served on top of a pile of coleslaw and next to a pile of mashed potatoes (there is a fries option). Ribs were cooked well but the sauce was definitely on the salty side. I tried a piece of my buddy's prime rib and it's pretty solid. The portion size was definitely enough. I was stuffed. I also had a flight of their craft beer (4 glasses). As of the time of writing, they only have 8 beers available, but it was more than enough. Overall the place is worth a visit if one wants pub style comfort food.
