We managed to snag a bar table outside in the sunshine and got down to business. It is so rare to see a pickle dip on a menu and being a pickle obsessed connoisseur (yes I've been to pickle fest) I had to order it as an appy. My husband and I devoured it in about 5 mins. Great choice to pair with a salty ripple chip! For our mains, I got the oven baked chicken wings which I give full props on the crunch factor for an oven baked wing. My only qualm was the hot sauce was more like a sweet salsa. Totally fine if that's your vibe but I would maybe rebrand it as abit like a sweet salsa over a hot sauce. When I think wings and hot sauce, I'm thinking something more like a Franks. I also was thrilled when our server asked if I wanted it on the side as the wings stay even crispier if you put the sauce on after and I was so happy she shared this as it was a great reco. My husband ordered the corn nachos and holy moly these were delicious. Amazing amount of toppings and great melted cheese ratio to chip. Slam dunk on these! I would go back simply for these! On the beer side we both loved the Foeder Vienna Lager - so delish. And I loved that they carry Nonnys as I love a good non alc option!

Nice little local brewery with way above average food and cool ambiance with board games to boot…read more Came in on our way driving from Victoria to Ucluelet for a decent beer and dinner after a long day of hiking and driving. We were pleasantly surprised by a small, but nice brewpub with board games to boot. They didn't have any tables for four because of reservations, but we were able to sit at the bar and set our kids up with a game of Battleship while we had some beer and food. The beer wasn't world class, but also didn't disappoint. The unicycle sour IPA, was my standout, but the porter and monster mash IPA were also good. The rest were fine, but not amazing. The food was (if anything) better than the beer. The plain cheese pizza my son got was good and had nicely browned cheese all over. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side, but not unpleasantly so. I'd probably lean more into pizza next time even if it's a bit too carb heavy. The spuds (potato wedges) were only OK. I got the Thai chicken salad, which was spicy with great greens and good chicken. Nice and fresh. My wife seemed to be less enamored of her bahn mi burger, but still said it was good. The service was attentive and happy to accommodate us and our kids. Would definitely come again.

Hello my name is Michael. J and I was very VERY! DISAPPOINTED in my experience at royal zayka…read more I was recommended this restaurant through a friend that said it was a great restaurant. HOW EVER I have a few reasons to think otherwise. First, already had to wait like an hour and a half for my food. Even though all the tables were empty. (About the food) The curry that I was recommended was cold, with raw chunks of chicken and something brown in it, my butter chicken we SPECIFICALLY order with mild spice was burning hot to the point where i chocked on the food and threw up in my mouth. I found pistachio in my brother's curry, when we specifically asked for it without due to the fact that he is deadly allergic to it, (thankfully we were carrying an epi pen). Second of all there was this little annoying little tub butter who appeared to be around the age of 13 wearing a spiderman mask. He was borderline harassing me, my brothers, and wife(especially my wife). He then threatened to tell the owner on me saying it was his father. The nan bread was amazing however it was absolutely delicious. And the mango ice cream was a bit too creamy I really feel my experience was similar to landon and Dutch. Will not be coming back. UNTIL THESE PROBLEMS ARE FIXED. Please do better I right this review from the bottom of my heart and all that I say is to improve your restaurant. (Ps. this is what curry should look like ).

We got there with 30 minutes left in the Sunday buffet, but that was not our goal. The place was fairly full, but you could tell they were there for the buffet. I checked out the food in the warmers and it looked pretty good. We were sat quickly, our waters dropped promptly in cool copper and stainless glasses. The menu is fairly extensive but we had already decided on the meat dinner special for two as it provided a good variety of their offerings. We ordered some wine, and the food came out very quickly. It looked great, with the exception of the aforementioned chicken leg, which tasted great but was obviously cooked to death. The balance of the meal was really great and plentiful. The Chicken curry and Lamb curry were good and I am not a lamb guy. It was a solid hit, and a good way to experience the cuisine. The decor could use some work, it's fairly spartan, and the white rectangle painted on the wall for the projector doesn't help. You clearly don't go for the ambiance, but it's a solid 4+. We'd certainly go again.

But holy hell this carrot cake is prob the best slice of carrot cake I've ever had, whoever is baking back in the kitchen is a total rockstar. This cake is moist flavourful, the nuts are a great add and the icing isn't too sweet it's simply perfect. We were shocked at how this blew us away. As for the beers my hubby got 2 that he thought were pretty good but I wasn't drinking and ordered their homemade ice tea and omg they did it again, so shockingly good! Just the right amount of citrus and great tea flavour. The over atmosphere inside is just okay but the service is attentive and all in all we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious our few items were!

Everything was amazing! Worth the stop!…read more The place was highly recommended by a family member that frequents this brewery. Of course we had to make a stop on our route up island. We all enjoyed our meals. Visited back in August so it's been a couple of weeks. Our table shared the mushroom kalamari and it went fast! It was so good, crispy and balanced, we could have easily ordered a 2nd plate - it was that good! I wasn't too hungry and ordered the West coast chowder with a side of bread. Little did I know this was one of the best meals this summer. I took a photo and ate the rest! I need that recipe! My 2 kids had the pesto pasta and both thoroughly enjoyed it, no leftovers. Husband had the brisket plate. He also enjoyed his flight of seasonal beers. Highly recommended and anyone heading up island or back to Victoria, make.the.stop! Parking was difficult, but it all worked out, there was a 20 min wait. Our regret was not buying the merch, cute shirts for sure! Instead we bought brews to go as host gifts before we left. You can definitely spend many hours on their large farm and not get bored. There's a fun little self-guided tour that takes you throughout the farm to learn how the beer is made and all the extra little things they have, like a chicken coop! There's a ton of different areas to sit in and an orchard and greenhouse and berry farm, and even a bookstore. There is just so much to take in. They also have a food truck on site and other little snacks available. Even some local ice cream :) And of course, there's a large beer selection, but also a lot of cider options. We really enjoyed the few that we tried in our tasting flight and got a lot of beer to take home. It's basically on an outdoor patio that's been screened in with plastic with lovely space heaters that keep everyone warm. There are a few seats inside as well but I've never been there. The ambiance is lovely - it's always buzzing with people coming and going and it's often a bit of a wait for a seat but once sitting down you aren't disturbed except with the lovely staff delivering food. Every staff person I've encountered has been friendly and while super busy seem to really enjoy being there.
