This is my go to place in the Comox Valley for a night out. The staff is always friendly and I love the food I've tried. I'm a bit of a creature of habit and I generally go for a dark beer but they've been out of my favourite Nitro for a while but I've found options. The fries are lovely and crispy and always hot. We usually get two tacos to share between three of us - beef brisket and beef barria I think it's called. They are completely different taste profiles and the accompanying sauces are delish. It's basically on an outdoor patio that's been screened in with plastic with lovely space heaters that keep everyone warm. There are a few seats inside as well but I've never been there. The ambiance is lovely - it's always buzzing with people coming and going and it's often a bit of a wait for a seat but once sitting down you aren't disturbed except with the lovely staff delivering food. Every staff person I've encountered has been friendly and while super busy seem to really enjoy being there. Wide variety of people too - people from the ski hill, pre theatre people, after work people. And the best part? Dogs are allowed!! read more

Okay for pub food and drink. Worst was the Caesar salad- with a tasteless watery ranch dressing. We found the wings a bit sweet. We stopped here for dinner on a Monday evening and we're so glad we did! The patio is wonderful and was the perfect place to eat on a sunny day. The food was amazing! Was very good. The atmosphere was top notch, really a sense of community and bonding which hasn't really felt in a year or so with COVID doing COVID things. The staff was great and very accommodating, especially since it was our first time being there. The drinks were great, the burger was top notch. The only minor complaint I had was the fries were very salty, so if you get the fries, ask for light salt (unless you're into salty foods). Definitely will come again. read more

First time visiting here. Both the food and service were excellent. I got the fried chicken sandwich with fries along with a couple of cerveza and my wife ordered the pizza. It was a great friday night atmosphere with dogger and their humans. We both enjoyed our meals, and we returned the next day to enjoy some wings with their light beer. The heritage of the old mechanical shop and car dealership was very cool. I will be returning soon to see what else the gem has in store with the great brew masters and wonderful chef! read more

The beer is good. Low stars given due to deterioration of tables, wasps everywhere, kids running amok. Food has changed from $19 - $22 pizza to $5 - $7 per soft itty bitty taco. Tasty taco ingredients (had the bison with pickles) but not possible to hold/eat without utensils. read more

Great little brewery down town, super tasty IPAs and Saison. Friendly staff, very small town, there is an amazing pizza place in the same building. They operate as separate business under the same roof, It's good Italian thin crust pizza. Highly Recommended big heated patio or smallish inside seating, would be great in the summer. read more

In the past I would have given 5 stars. The pizza was great to share and have some beers with friends in a fun atmosphere. I wish they still had pizza. The prices for food has increased with small portions which is unfortunate. no pizza :( If you weren't a regular it would be a very confusing place. The menus are difficult to read. All that being said if you just want to have some beer and meet your friends this is perfect for that. Just eat before you go. read more

Gladstone Brewing Co. came highly recommended by Lenny the local, and he was dead on. We were staying within walking distance in Courtenay and skated it just under the 9 pm pizza service closing, the guys could have been difficult but they were supper cool and said if we ordered that minute all would be good, and they were right. We ordered 4 pizza's, ​Luigi pinenuts fiordilatte, Bates beach tomatoes basil purée, King onion and the Fungi. The King onion was my favorite with the Luigi pinenuts fiordilatte, a close second. The really cool thing about this place is the tasting room, I'm not a big IPA lover but it was tasty as was the bourbon infused the cider. I went with simple the a couple Pilsner which was fabulous. Gladstone's also has growlers and 4 pack cans of both the IPA and Pilsner along with a few others, which came in handy the following day. Came here for the first time and enjoyed the beer and the food. Tried a flight before having a pint since the taps all rotate with different beers which is nice. Also tried a veggie burger and parmigiana fries which where both good. It also has a nice large patio to hang out. read more

Service was subpar - my boyfriend ordered a flight, and then they seemed surprised that I wanted something too. And then surprised again when corrected their assumption that I wanted the same thing as him (we have opposite taste in beers). But! A great little corner of town, with a lovely patio. Great craft beer and great patio. That's pretty much it. The food is so overpriced it's not even funny. 16$ for a small plate of nachos (18$ with guacamole) and it's not even real cheese, just the cheap nacho cheese sauce. Or you can go for the 15$ burrito (just an average sized burrito, no sides). Also no table service for food, you have to wait in line for food and then again for beer. Apparently the pizza people can scold a customer and it is okay with Gladstone I guess. Lost a local customer and his recommendations to visitors. I've been here a few times before and it's been decent, but today was pretty disappointing. They ran out of cider so I was poured half a glass of one and half of another to make up the difference. Not a huge deal but a little annoying. The issue was the food- they advertise vegan options but when I asked for vegan it's just a veggie burger wrapped in a wilted lettuce leaf. And I still had to pay full price despite not getting a bun and taking out the cheese. I asked if I could have pickles onions (which they have) instead of the cheese but they wouldn't do it, and when he asked the chef he would only do it if I paid extra! WTF. Great hangout. Unassuming casual atmosphere. Sit inside or outside. We stopped inside late afternoon. My husband had a taster flight of kolsch, rye saison, porter and ipa. He was impressed with all four that made picking which one to have a pint of difficult. The porter did not disappoint. If we can, we'll be back again in the evening before we head home to Vancouver tomorrow morning. I had a kolsch taster but as usual, i got to sample all the flight tasters and not being a big beer drinker, I could have a pint of any of the tasters. While in Courtenay I stopped by Gladstone Brewing to check out the craft beer. Like many craft brewers its all about the beer not the decor. I went for an IPA. I noticed the pizza shop next door was open to the brewery so I walked over and ordered a pizza. Its called Guerrilla Pizza and deserves a separate review-but it was very good. Crust was superb! Back to Gladstone Brewing-the brewing area looked pretty big to me and there were several tanks. They offered a varied selection but I can't say they focused on a particular style. They offered flights of four beers to help you choose. The IPA was very tasty-I also did a flight and found each beer was very good. The person working the front was very helpful-it was obvious the moment I opened my mouth I'm a hillbilly by way of California...but he helped out the first time customer. Anyway there is a sitting area in the front with a mix of small and communal tables. There is a large outside sitting area for use in pleasant weather. I parked on the street but noticed a parking lot immediately adjacent. I'm giving five stars because I like craft brewers who make a living selling good beer. read more
