Delicious, never a bad coffee, caramel blues every time! Way better than some of the other small coffee shops.

Absolute Perfection! Hands Down the Best Coffee in Arizona!…read more My husband and I are avid flavored latte lovers, and wherever we travel, we make it our personal mission to hunt down the absolute best lattes in the area. Now that we live here, we dedicate one day a week to exploring a brand-new local coffee shop. We've been living in Arizona for 7 years now, and after visiting The Coffee Builders in Phoenix this week, my only question is: Where has this place been all our lives?! This incredible hidden gem is tucked away in the Warehouse District and is a bit out of sight--you'd likely never just stumble across it unless you were explicitly looking for it. But the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported. The architectural design is completely unexpected, modern, and striking--especially the gorgeous, geometric upside-down wooden pyramids stretching across the ceiling. It creates an upscale, unique atmosphere unlike anywhere else. Now for the main event: the drinks and food. I ordered the Orange Blossom Latte and my husband ordered The Slopes. Both drinks were absolutely outstanding. They were rich, velvety, thick, and incredibly creamy with deep, distinct flavor profiles. Best of all, they weren't overly sugary--which is huge for us since we typically prefer our coffee at half-sweetness. To pair with our drinks, we tried the Blueberry Bourbon Maple Pastry. It was phenomenal: flaky on the outside, light and pillowy-creamy on the inside, beautifully balanced, and generously loaded with fresh blueberries. The staff was highly professional, exceptionally welcoming, and deeply knowledgeable about their shop and everything on the menu. From this day forward, The Coffee Builders is officially our #1 favorite coffee shop in AZ. Do yourself a favor, make this a top priority on your bucket list, and treat yourself--you will not be disappointed!

I should have known better when the waitress said they hadn't received their shipment of white gravy, and all they had was brown gravy. White gravy is butter, flour, and milk. It's just about the simplest thing for a kitchen to make, and they get it in a box. Worst yet, they can't make any from scratch while they're out of the boxed stuff..? I'm going to guess the brown gravy came out of a box, too, because it was unremarkable. The CFS was clearly frozen. Very chewy, and not much flavor or crunch. The menu used to be colorful and full of photos. Now it looks like the first Microsoft Word Template someone clicked on. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the hash browns were decent. My guest had the corned beef hash and she was too full to finish it. So, I tried it and it was pretty bland, and looked like it came out of a can. I'll give them a second star for knowing how to cook an egg, but next time I feel like a good breakfast on this side of town, I'll just go to Denny's. Denny's is much better than Kay's.
