I was at the new location in Mesa off of Southern and Longmore in the Target plaza (way at the other end). I have raved to everyone about this. I took pics of the beautiful cup of coffee Daniel made for me. I took my lunch to go. I do not eat pork, so he swapped that out with egg and mozzarella to go with the spinach crepe. He offered 2 types of sauce; I took the less spicy. It was wonderful. The Brown Sugar Pumpkin Pie Shaken Espresso is usually iced, but I like hot coffee. He compensated this by adding extra cinnamon. Such a nice lowkey spot with great staff. Variety of crepes to offer from sweet to savory. They offer plenty of drinks from coffee and teas. We ordered: Nutella and Chilorio crepe. I've never had chilorio (shredded pork in a red chili) before but the combination with the green dressing, crumbled cheese, avocado in the crepe was SO tasty! I would do light cheese next time as it is very filling. For drinks, we ordered: Iced Matcha Latte with Oat-milk & Dirty Chai Latte. Believe there was up-charge per espresso shot but not milk substitute. The chai latte was SO good as I noticed hints of cinnamon if I'm correct. Oh the secrets hidden in Phoenix's strip malls: El Cafezito is sooooooo one of them :) We couldn't find a web site but inquired on their FB site and they were immediately responsive. And when we got there, Daniel the owner shared more about their little restaurant and how his family runs it...They let us gawk at them making the crepes and my friend from Quebec asked if they used milk in their mix. Yes indeed. Just like his mom made for him growing up... I scarfed down the fabulous Nutella Crepe with a collage of strawberries & bananas + more Nutella on top. My friend delighted in his Hawaiian Crepe with pineapples and maraschino cherries. We were both astonished at the mondo cups of coffee they serve. Such a treat on a Saturday afternoon! P.S. Loved the place! The ambiance is very welcoming. The paintings on the wall and the choice of music you know this is a welcoming place. The ladies that served us were so kind and wonderful. Service was fast and with a smile. Can't really ask for more than that at 8am in the middle of the week. The only bad was the portion size of the sweet crepe that we had ordered. For the price I was hoping to get the crepe stuffed with some toppings but it was flat and just toppings. That is the only complaint. My wife and I enjoyed the hot drinks and also the savory crepe which was plentiful for the both of us. TLDR: Loved it here!! This café is like a hidden gem and definitely worth a try, especially if you appreciate Mexican culture!! Atmosphere: The interior has a beautiful aesthetic, my favorite thing was definitely the painted walls. One wall had a beautiful painted mural of the outside of the restaurant and the other wall had coffee related sayings written in Spanish. You can definitely see the Mexican influence all throughout the café and honestly I loved it. Customer Service: The service was also very good! From the moment we walked it, we were welcomed by the lovely cashier and she was very patient with us since it was our first time visiting. Although the price did surprise me, all together we ordered four large drinks and four sweet crepes and our total was $62.16. The total adds up quickly so if you go with a group perhaps try splitting the bill! Food/Drinks: The food was out to us very quickly, not even five minutes after we were seated and we had both our drinks and our food! As a Mexican-American I obviously grew up with Mexican sweets so seeing they had a Gansito crepe and Mazapan frappe I just knew I had to try it! The crepe itself was huge, it basically took up the whole plate! The Gansito crepe was filled with Gansito cream and topped with fresh chopped strawberries, strawberry sauce, and pieces of real Gansito. It was delicious, although I might be a little biased since I love strawberries and Gansitos haha. The Mazapan frappe was also delicious. I could taste the peanut butter in it which was something I've never seen done with other Mazapan flavored coffees but it was a pleasant surprise! It also had crushed up Mazapan on top of it which was also very nice. You'll definitely love this place if you have a sweet tooth haha! Nitpicks: My only nitpick would be to check out the online menu on their website if you want pictures of the crepes, as a visual learner it made things way easier. ----------- Overall, I really enjoyed my time at El Cafezito! First time in and the place had 2 tables. We ordered a Ham and cheese crepe and a Nutella strawberry and banana crepe. The restaurant is not bad, could use some love with some decor. The food took a little while to arrive, 20 min. I would not normally bat an eye at that but the place was practically empty. When the food arrived she did apologize for the time. I was watching them make the crepes. 1 cook and one hot plate. A crepe at a time. The crepes themselves were not bad, but not great. The filling in both was minimal. I'm not looking for a burrito, but when my wife asks "is there anything inside" there is something wrong. The Nutella was just a light drizzle on the inside with no filling, all on the top and separated, strawberry on the left and banana on the right. The Nutella crepe had a nice thinness to it and I appreciate that they didn't go too crazy with Nutella. The bananas and strawberries are always a tasty accompaniment for Nutella. Now the spinach crepe... I absolutely enjoyed the heck out of my spinach crepe. It was stuffed with ham and cheese and topped with tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, and drizzled with chipotle cream and crumbled cheese. It was a nice savory treat and the cucumbers made it refreshing. As for the drinks, the coffee was a bit on the watery and sweeter side. I don't think I would order the coffee again although it's worth noting that it still put a pep in my step!
