We did have a 20 minute wait but it seemed to go fast. It seems pretty crowded inside the tables are fairly close to one another. My husband and son ordered the cafe de olla, my son had the Birria omelette, my husband had eggs chorizo and beans, and I had the red chilaquiles and eggs with beans. My eggs were hot, the rest of my food was ice cold, I did bring it to the attention of the waitress she had it remade and 2nd plate was hot. The beans are very runny, the chilaquiles were ok. My son said his Birria was just ok. My husband said his food was decent. Service wasn't great, our waitress rarely checked in on us we had to wave her down for more drinks which she brought my boys their coffees and never brought me any water. I'm not sure I would go back, although it wasn't terrible, nothing really stood out to me, and with just eh customer service it doesn't make me really want to run back. I will say it's very nicely decorated inside, restrooms were clean.

Though the moment I sat down our server was ready to take my drink order and she helped me pick a caramel latte - as you can see it was TASTY - it was even more delicious than it looks. Everyone else had cafe de olla and they loved it. My friends tried the chilaquiles and birria plate and I had the poblano omelette - it was wildly delicious!!! All of the veggies in my mouth smothered with the green salsa, melted cheese and sour cream.... Gah! Somehow I didn't get a photo - or my camera disappeared it but it was probably the most picturesque too! Being in the place was awesome, we loved the energy, the music, the folks working were all in a good mood, and wanting to help. The place was giving Mexico so much, it definitely felt like home when I'm away. Loved that there were so many big tables too because it allows for your big family to come dine or brunch together! I'll definitely be coming back, what a gem in Tolleson! Thank you to all staff and the food was absolutely delicious.

It's cozy, inviting, and the overall vibe actually put me in the mind of First Watch. They've created a space that feels like somewhere you could sit down, relax, and enjoy a nice breakfast or brunch. I tried the PB&J Protein Shake. It was good, but would I personally order it again? Probably not. Now, the Cookie Butter Latte Frappe with extra whip? DELICIOUS. That one absolutely gets a repeat order from me. I also took a look at the menu--the sign encourages you to grab one and look it over--and I have to say, several of the food items sound really good. So next time, I do plan to sit down, order some food, and give the full dining experience a try. Now, here's where there is definitely room for improvement: customer service. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, and the interaction felt a little standoffish. Nothing terrible happened, but hospitality matters. When you have a cozy atmosphere and a promising menu, the customer service should match that same energy. A simple "Welcome in!" and a warmer interaction can make a major difference in someone's overall experience. There's a lot I like about Penny Cafe, and I definitely see the potential. I'll be back to try the food and that Cookie Butter Latte Frappe again. Hopefully, on my next visit, the customer service will be just as inviting as the atmosphere.

The dim lighting works perfectly with the décor, and the metal entrance door gives the place a cool, slightly old-school vibe. There's plenty of parking, plus street parking, so no need to circle the block 15 times questioning your life choices. Now, the important part: the food. They have a really good variety of lunch specials at very reasonable prices. The food overall is tasty, but the pizza is definitely the star of the show. Artisan-style, full of flavor, and with a great balance between portion size and quality. The drinks are good too, with plenty of options. The restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms--which, yes, absolutely matters! And whatever you do, save room for dessert. Seriously. It's a great way to finish the meal... even if five minutes earlier you swore you were completely full. Definitely a nice find, and a place I'd visit again.

The Bruschetta is really light with amazing flavor, small tomatoes drizzled with balsamic, the bread is soft but sturdy enough to hold the tomato. Wings! We opted for the lemon pepper wings; perfectly crispy delicious flavor. The main course we shared the Margherita pizza! OMG, the crust is so light & buttery with fresh mozzarella, not too much sauce. Andrea's service is great, the decor & restaurant is cozy with a warm feeling. If it wasn't for the 13 school staff wanting to split each check & arguing who got what, we could've paid. I felt badly for Andrea.
