The decor is a bit dark, but chic & colorful. Our server, Esmerelda, was fantastic: funny, attentive, polite. There was a guy there who seemed to be the Jack of all trades. He brought us our food, I saw him behind the bar, and even bussing tables. He, too, was friendly & smiley. Cocktails: they had a great selection but we went with plain ol' Cokes. That's okay, we'll partake of their boozy drinks when we visit again. Food: parmesan truffle fries were aah-mazing. I even told Esmerelda they should add a pizza with the garlic aioli. The buffalo mozzarella had a bit of a kick to the sauce; we could have used more toasted bread to dip into it. We ordered the heaven and bianca pizzas. The crust was thinner than normal, which I was happy about, and the flavors of both were delicious. Dessert: despite not finishing the appetizers & pizza (no worries, we thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers!), we opted for a gelato flight. It was divine, and hefty samples. You wouldn't think 4 oz was much, but of gelato, it was plenty. We selected chocolate, strawberry, salted caramel, and mango. If you haven't tried Roma 23, I highly recommend it. I'm sad to not give this place 5 stars only because their kitchen closes an hour before their listed close time, which has led us to be turned away twice. When we did manage to get in, we ordered a glass of pinot noir and Pelligrino to drink. The waitress brought out a glass of white wine and insisted this was their pinot noir... even the bartender confirmed. So the staff is NOT wine savvy, I wouldn't trust their recommendations on pairings here either. They didn't have any Pelligrino left, so I ended up getting an arnold palmer. However, when they brought the check out, the Pelligrino was still on the tab and we had to ask them to take it off. We both got pasta, the lasagna and the chicken masala, and a caesar salad. The noodles tasted like it was made in house, which was nice. Chicken was not overly breaded and the sauce was light. The salad had too much cheese but I think some people just like that on their salad. I went with my fiancée to celebrate our anniversary around 2:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday and it was not very busy. The table we were sat at was the only one that did not have a lamp, but to their credit the servers brought us one. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella appetizer, which was like a bread dip. We were disappointed that it was a tomato-based sauce and not a buffalo sauce, and the sauce was runny and watery and only had a small hint of spice; the mozzarella cheese was good. We ordered the supreme pizza and spaghetti and meatballs as our entrees. The pizza was good quality not great; the crust had a nice crunch to it. Like the buffalo mozzarella appetizer, the spaghetti and meatballs had a watery and runny tomato sauce; the meatballs were good quality. For dessert we had cannolis and the gelato flight. The gelato flight was delicious and we would definitely recommend. We had the strawberry, mango, chocolate, and salted caramel flavors; the chocolate and salted caramel were my personal favorite. The cannolis had an interesting texture, both the shell and the cream. The filling was thick and creamy, not smooth, and the shell was crunchy and hard; the chocolate chips were rich and tasty. We were not given anything complimentary for celebrating our anniversary. As we were leaving my fiancée pinched herself on the booth seat that is worn. Overall, we would recommend the gelato and the appetizers and entrees without tomato sauce. Though it is in a convenient location for us, we most likely will not be back for a while. read more

This spot has been in my list of spots I've wanted to try out for more than a year. I'm never in this area or at least not often , but this past week I had some extra free time so we headed over for lunch to check it out. We lucked out to a fairly empty parking lot and were seated right away. From the outside it does look like they are building an addition. It is pretty small inside and with how busy I've heard it can get that's great. There is a full bar and it's quite nice inside. I wanted to try the fire burned pizza so I ordered the lunch special of a 12 in pepperoni, my husband opted for the lunch special salad and pasta. Service was pretty good. We had our food at a reasonable time as well. Everything looked great and was good. I do wish my pizza was a bit crispier and I'll know to ask for a bit more time in the oven next time. We had a really good experience on our date night to Roma 23. We shared a pizza and the lasagna since it was our first time there. The lasagna was really good. They let us know ahead of time that it might take a bit longer than the pizza which we were OK with since we were sharing! 100% recommend. read more

After seeing all of the amazing reviews for Roma23 and it being nearby I was really excited to finally get to try it. My overall experience was rather underwhelming, I am not sure why, but I had expected a higher scale of experience. The price would suggest this as well. I ordered an espresso martini which was lacking. I could tell it was made with coffee from a pot, not real espresso. I ordered the bruschetta which was my favorite part of the experience, it was good! The tomatoes tasted fresh and crisp, with a good ratio of balsamic drizzle on top. I ordered the Godfather pizza. The meats and flavoring of the crust were very reminiscent of those from a Jacks frozen pizza. The service was good, it wasn't bad. I honestly don't have much to say about it other than that. The menu was very lacking. There were seemingly more drinks than food on the menu. read more

I'm so glad to have a new Italian spot in Tolleson! This place is very cute. Modern rustic feel. I like that the kitchen is partially open so you can watch the pizzas being made. Angela was an amazing server. She was attentive but not hovering. She gave great food suggestions and was very kind. We started with the Mozzarella. It was delicious. I liked that when you cut into the cheese, it mixed in with the sauce. One thing to be aware of is that the sauce has a little heat. So if you are like my mom, maybe order it on the side. I got the Ajillo Shrimp and my sister got the Chicken Pesto Pizza. Both were amazing. The shrimp on my pasta were big and there was a good amount of them. It wasn't heavy or too spicy. we stopped in here for a quick lunch during nascar week. I got the lunch special pasta and side Caesar salad. I have to say they should really mention that it comes with leafy greens like arugula and spinach instead of Romaine which most standard Caesar salads. The dressing wasn't bad, but the lettuce was awful. The fettuccine Alfredo was tasty but the sauce to noodle ratio was not good. Way way way more noodles than sauce. My husband got the lunch special...cheese pizza and although they got the extra sauce and light cheese, correct, he hated it so we won't be back but maybe it was just an off day for them. needless to say, I didn't even bother taking the leftovers home. it's a fail for me. i will say the server was nice and attentive and the decor was nicely done. no good ipa either!! read more

We had a very pleasant experience at Roma 23. The space was well managed, the parking lot was accessible, and the style was very neat. The food was remarkable! We started with a caesar salad, which was made with a spring mix. The dressing was flavorful, and the croutons added that extra bit of crunch that ever caesar needs. For our entrees we ordered the Ajillo shrimp and the Heaven pizza. This Ajillo Shrimp dish was one of the best pasta's I've ever had in my entire life (and I've had a lot of pasta!). The shrimp was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the pappardelle was done to perfect al dente. We would come back just for that. The Heaven pizza was great too! The arugula was a little much, but the flavor combinations really made it a complete pie. If we were to come back, I'd probably try one of the other pizzas on the menu. Overall, it was quality and timely service. The restaurant itself was a little loud, so be prepared for that, but the taste of the food brought this place to 5-stars alone. read more

We decided to try another pizza place we'd never been to, again. It was pretty good. We got 2 pizzas...cheese and sausage/pineapple. Hubby liked the sausage one a lot and I liked the cheese one a bit more. The crust is kinda bready, but I like that there wasn't a lot of sauce on them, just enough for the flavor. I was jonesing for some pasta, so Hubby ordered me the Spaghetti Bolognese. It was very good! Lots of sauce on the pasta! It did have quite a kick to it, but other than that, I enjoyed it a lot. The garlic bread wasn't exactly my favorite, but the pasta made up for it. We also got some hummus, which came with some little flat breads (and we also used the garlic bread for dipping). Hubby really enjoyed it, but it wasn't quite my taste. I would definitely like to try some more of their pasta dishes, so we might give them a go again. read more

Here's what we tried Charcuterie Board- my go to for appetizers since they're fun to put together and this one had the perfect enough of goodies for 2-3 people Godfather Pizza - super yummy 4 out of 5 ! Amazing food for a great price!! The interior is decorated really well, it's like a dim lit bar but still has plenty of table seating and light for family. The restrooms are very clean and I love that they have a lit up mirror for any girlies who want to touch up on their makeup and stuff! I do wish the server had come around to fill up our waters though. We got the Bianca pizza and Ajillo shrimp pasta. Both were great but the Bianca pizza was my favorite. The mix of cheese, prosciutto, mushroom, and basil is magnificent. It could use a little more mushroom though. For birthdays they bring out a sparkler candle on a complimentary gelato of your choose. I have been here once before but I apparently did not write a review, I truly cannot recall what I had the first time or the experience. This time, there were quite a bit of people but we did not have to wait for a table. Our waitress and the hostesses both were pleasant, along with the busboy. We ordered a full veggie salad, wings, a supreme pizza and I ordered Chicken Marsala. The veggie salad, I enjoyed so much! I loved the dressing! But for someone who likes basic stuff such as my husband he said he didn't really like the dressing but said he knew I would. It was just the right amount of sweet with a citrus flavor with a very subtle hint of Fig. The Chicken Marsala was flavorful, different than other chicken marsalas I have had but it was really good. My husband said the wings were good, crispy, the brick oven pizza was also really good but could use more sauce, I on the other hand liked the minimal sauce. I bought 5 pizzas to go for a luncheon via call-in order. They were on time and very accommodating both over the phone and in person. Though I did take-out, the interior looks like a cute place to try again for date night - little moody with modern greenery on the walls. Pizzas: The flavor of the sauce was overall okay from being really fresh, but can benefit from a little more seasoning. The crust may be different right out of the oven, but the center for my take-out was a little soggy. Flavor of the dough was pretty good for a new spot. You can tell they put effort and care into developing it. I think after some more time, they'll be able to make the thickness just right! Bartender was very knowledgeable on menu items and seemed to genuinely like giving her recommendation which is a breath of fresh air from other places where people are sick of explaining a menu like you been in a hundred times. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Roma 23! The service was fast and friendly - the lighting is very dim, and it's not a very big place. Maybe about 10 tables available for indoor seating. The food was delicious, we had pizza, salad, pasta and wings. All so tasty! We dined with 3 littles (hence why there is no photos of food lol) but it was a smooth enjoyable experience. Went here for dinner on a Sunday to celebrate my 2 kids bday from last weekend. The place is tucked away but it was really nice and the outdoor seating was cute. We ordered 3 pizzas (1 kids), 3 pasta dishes (1 kids) & a Gelato flight. Pizzas were very good, very. Pastas were good but I (just me) felt it could have used just a bit more salt to bring out the flavor. The bellini was refreshing & the church music ipa was dangerously good (I dont even like beer, let alone ipa). Stumbled upon Roma 23 on a rare night that I was craving pasta. We were greeted and sat right away. Wonderful service and our drink and appetizer order was taken. I asked about the spice level on the shrimp pasta dish and was told it would be about a 6 so I went ahead with that. My husband ordered pizza and my son the kids Alfredo. To start I ordered a Bellini and the buffalo mozzarella. The mozzarella was served in a spicy (8/10) red sauce that has great flavor and crust bread, ended up ordering more bread to soak up the deliciousness. My husband loved his pizza and my pasta hit the spot. My son loved his Alfredo and it was a great portion. He finished with gelato and he loved that as well. I'm not sure what I think of this place just because it's in Tolleson and they don't have much in restaurants the service is okay it's a bunch of kids as servers not very well trained that's not their fault this is Management's fault but the pizza place/bar so I overlooked that stuff not for the food the buffalo dish which wasn't what I was expecting it was fresh mozzarella with this spicy marinara which was really good I want to go back just for that the regular pizza was good like the white sauce had too much cheese for me the only thing the pizza is just not made well in general I also got the Roman Style which was gross it was still raw couldn't eat it had to send it back I just have them take it off my bill they should not make that at all take it off the menu and work on there Neapolitan Style we go back track a few other things because it's close to the house I got a give Tolleson love too read more

Good wood fired pizza! Some ingredients are not the normal 'pizza chain' ingredients. The restaurant was expanding and adding a patio.

This place is by far the best place to come and eat great food. Spend my birthday here eating with family and greet host. I hopefully recommend to check it out. read more
