Stopped by for a weekday lunch and walked into a fun, lively ambiance. The bar was full and FIFA was on so people had the vibes up! I read several reviews on here that the music was loud - that's honestly part of the reason why this review is high because that definitely set the tone for our outing. The music was fun and vibrant and we had a great time. I got the brunch protein bowl with chicken and my boyfriend got the burrito. Both were so yummy and very filling. They have house made salsa but also habenero if you need something with a little more spice :) We also got margaritas and the bartender was very sweet. I got a blanco prickly pear with a sugar rim and my bf got a reposado house marg. Both were delicious and we wanted more rounds but had to go back to work (otherwise we would have stayed for the drinks and the overall energy in here!)

3.5-4 Good spot for brunch if you are wanting Hispanic / Mexican food. It does get busy, there is indoor and outdoor seating. It is very loud, loud music playing. Customer service was good. The time it took to get our food was good too, didn't take a long time. We ordered the chilaquiles for two. The portion is a good size. The salsa on the chilaquiles was okay. The asada and chicken were really good tho. Tried their tres leches, it was good too.

I wanted to love this spot since it's new to Avondale and in a convenient location. However, while the interior decor is beautiful and the patio has full coverings from the sun, the food and service were lacking. The wait time for the food was roughly 30 minutes. We were there for brunch. My eggs came out hard which is overcooked from the over easy I requested. Hash browns were disgusting. Like they were cooked in old oil. We sat there for some time before the server came back to give us the check. I think standard good service is picking up the empty plates when dropping off the check. Or at least after collecting the payment. In conclusion, the atmosphere is pretty but the food and service were not good. Do not recommend.

I noticed some Tesla charging ports in the entrance but were not operational and the staff told me the management is working g with the shipping center management to get them operational. We were seated sooner than expected. The ambiance and decor is very classy and inviting. Music keeps the vibes going I did notice everything very clean. The cafe de olla is delicious and comes with complimentary conchita. Our food was made to order and just as we asked. Everything was delicious and the homemade corn tortillas were bomb. I had salsa tatemada very good. Our server seemed to be very busy but still managed to provide great service to us. The menu has lots of items I can't wait to try. I will be back. I did like the chef coming out with everyone's order to each table. A nice touch. Bathrooms were clean and it made me smile.

As far as a brand new restaurant goes, this place is doing everything right. Sure you might have your speed bumps along the way, but as some say, this place has "good bones". The service is extremely friendly, the restaurant is clean and stylish, and the food is original and flavorful. We ordered the Chilaquiles and the French Toast. Everything tasted great and the portions were large! We can't wait to see how this place grows, improves, and solidifies itself as a marquee brunch diner!

Husband ordered fajitas which were fine but not fantastic. I ordered a chimichanga w/ carnitas which tasted game like / not fresh or flavorful. Very unlikely to return. Vibe is cute - service was good.

Decided to try this place with my sister. We saw reviews were good so we gave it a shot. Hostess made the experience seem chaotic and didn't know what she needed to do. We waited around 30 mins to be seated. I will say service wasn't the best. We didn't get a server until another server saw we were at the table without anyone attending us. It took about 10 mins to get beverages to the table. We had ordered an appetizer but did not come out for a while. Our food came out in about 30ish minutes. I ordered the chilaquiles with carne asada. I will say $20 for this plate was good but the taste I didn't like. The food was like warm and made it taste off. We also had ordered menudo shooters and I also didn't like the flavor it had a weird taste to me. Ambiance was good but the servers seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. One thing I noticed was the chef coming out and bringing the food to the tables which I thought was off. I don't think I've ever seen that. The whole restaurant seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. I did overhear that they had just opened in February. I will say that was just a few months but they have a lot of room for improvement to not make the experience so chaotic and having to hunt your server down to order or request one thing.

Cute place, great vibe, indoor, outdoor and bar seating. Great music playing throughout. Service was good, early on a Sunday am wasn't too packed but by the time we left 930 there was a wait lined up outside. There were many things being served that I def want to come back and try. The relleno was sooo good and flavorful. My eggs, machaca, and hash browns was kinda plain, to my own fault but it was still flavorful! We will def be back. The prices were normal $14-22 per plate.

New spot, our first time! We heard nothing but great things about Poca Madre so we had to try it out! From the moment you walk in, the vibes are vibing! Good music open clean dining room with lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. There were 6 in our party and we all enjoyed something different both food and cocktails, no complaints! We look forward to returning for Brunch!!!

Food is ok nothing special, had the menudo it was $18 for a medium size bowl with some seasoning and lime it was decent, definitely not worth the $18 better off going to food city. Waitresses were nice but definitely need more training on what the food items need when being taken to the table such as the menudo needs the tortillas, limes, oregano and chili flakes. I had to ask for them and took forever to bring making my menudo lukewarm.

    Everything tasted amazing

Amazing service and food was delicious! Love the cafe de olla! My daughter really enjoyed her graduation brunch here!

So many options on the menu! Our server recommended the salsa served hot - not spicy hot but temperature hot. It was fire roasted and served warm (a first for me) but delicious! Homemade corn tortillas are so good! The staff is very friendly. The decor and vibe is cool too. Outdoor seating on the covered patio is available.

Food is excellent. Good portion size, fresh, very good overall. Service was slow, but the food made up for that. Definitely a place to try.

We actually followed the owners here after frequenting their previous coffee shop, En Route. When they opened New Penny, supporting them was an easy decision. The café is thoughtfully divided into two distinct spaces: a family-friendly dining area and a lounge-style bar area geared more toward adults. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. There are house-made dishes, local merchandise, a shaded patio, and plenty of charm throughout. My wife's favorites are the Breakfast Totchos and the Acai Bowl. Personally, I am also a loyal Breakfast Totchos fan. As for drinks, the Copper Coin and the legendary Cowboy Latte are both worth ordering. What truly sets New Penny apart, however, is the people. The owners and staff have created a space that feels inclusive, welcoming, and genuinely connected to the community. Support local businesses. Better yet, support local businesses that are doing things the right way. Get to know the owners. Get to know the staff. Places like New Penny don't just serve food and coffee--they create gathering places. Whether you're meeting a friend, taking a business meeting, enjoying a date, or simply looking for a quiet place to sit by yourself, New Penny delivers. One of my favorite local businesses, and one that my family will continue to support.

We ordered chips and Gaucamole and were given something else instead. When my husband asked about it the server said we were given the wrong thing but we said it was fine and we would just keep it. We ordered food, my husband a breakfast burrito and me the chilaquiles. I had asked the server which sauce he would recommend as they offered three, and he had said the red was spicy so I chose it as I love spicy foods. It took 35 minutes for our food to come out. Once it came, my chilaquiles had green sauce on them, I stated that I had ordered red sauce and the server picked up the plate to take it back and got a little attitude with me and said I'm pretty sure you said green but ok. I then told him I'd keep it if it was an issue but he continued to walk away with the plate. He came back shortly after with red sauce and I thanked him. However, I was disappointed with my meal because I had also ordered my eggs over medium (cooked whites/runny yokes) and they were basically hard boiled with cooked yokes. The red sauce also was not even spicy but lacked any flavor at all honestly. So I was pretty disappointed. As soon as we left after eating and paying my stomach felt off, I got sick when I got home and stayed sick all night. I was fine before coming here and hadn't eaten anything else that day so I know it was from eating here. Needless to say we won't be going back here. If you want good brunch and especially good chilaquiles go to Park Cafe not too far from this place they have the best I've had so far in the area.
