We were truly excited to visit this restaurant on a Sunday, as the service was outstanding--warm, welcoming, and truly deserving of a 20/10. I genuinely want their business to thrive. However, I must be honest about the food. It was incredibly disappointing. The fries were clearly two weeks old, just reheated almost as bitting on cardboard and the burgers were overwhelmingly peppered to the point of being inedible. My wife's bowl was soggy, falling apart--just cheese, some chicken, rice, and a mess of mush. Given the price, which is on the expensive side, we expected much better quality. I hope the owner and chef take this seriously, since retaining customers and keeping them coming back is key to staying in business. I went to Island Fine Burger restaurant for lunch today and was really surprised by how big the burger patties are--they actually slightly larger the edge of the bun, which I haven't seen at places like Red Robin or In-N-Out (the patties are usually less than the bun you won't see them). The waitress asked me how I wanted my burger cooked (from medium rare to well done), making it feel even more personalized. The $10 deal for a burger and fries was a good deal. Waitresses were friendly, and the island-themed décor made the whole vibe really relax. I was comfortable eating inside, especially with the cool air conditioning on a hot day. Yum!! Nice chain restaurant with lots of food options. We arrived and were sat immediately. The hostess were friendly and attentive. I ordered a 22oz Mango IPA which was delicious! The beer came out cold and crispy. We started with chips, salsa, and guacamole. The chips were not my favorite but the salsa was excellent. For the main meal I ordered fish tacos and my husband ordered the burger sliders. The fish tacos were amazing! I love fish tacos and these were amazing. They were slightly dry but I ordered a side of green salsa which was an amazing pair. The burger sliders were just ok. The bun was a little over powering compared to the patty itself. Do not under any circumstance eat here! I came for a work lunch with eight other coworkers. We all ordered different things and we were all sick for more than a week and a half. The only common denominator was lettuce! Which should tell you that someone did not wash their hands after using the restroom and then cutting the lettuce. Pretty disappointed with the quality of food today. Chips were stale in the spinach dip as well as the chips and salsa. Dip was fine but the chips made it a poor experience. Once we got our entrees the quality continued to be poor. My son Sked me to taste his fries to see if this was how they are supposed to taste. He said they tasted starchy. Not sure how to explain it but they were not good as the texture was odd. Visited Islands again as I got an email about a burger special , a big burger , fries and a drink for $10. Could not pass that up, so I stopped by. Great service, waitress greeted me and told me about the special, put in my order and in the matter of 5-6 minutes it all arrived. When my water came the the cup was filthy it had a hard water film that was covered in dirt and grime. When I mentioned it to our server she was defensive and let me know it was hard water as if a filthy cup was ok because of Arizona hard water. I live here I know about hard water, I also know that cups need to be scrubbed once in a while and guess what the gross film won't be covered in caked on dirt from the dishwasher. We ordered their Islands Beer Flight, Long Island Iced Tea, HH Sliders, and a Wave Burger. The two cocktails were on happy hour for about $7 each and the sliders were also $7 (can add cheese for an extra $1). The flight consisted of their 3 Islands beers as well as one beer of choice. All 4 of the beers came out cold and were pretty tasty - their Amber Lager was the table favorite. The two cocktails were just okay... the mojito only came with 1 lime so I recommend requesting a few more slices. The Long Island wasn't anything special but it got the job done. The burger was a good size and cooked to medium as requested. It comes with French fries but did a premium upgrade to Onion Rings - the onion rings look great, but aren't that good. The sliders were your typical appetizer sliders but they came with red onion crisps which were a nice touch. Heidi was our waitress and she did an incredible job. She seemed to be the only server on the floor, but the service was on point. Kudos to her for hustling and being kind. We came in with our dog so we were on the patio which is a tiny little patio, but we were the only group out there so it was nice. The only thing that would keep me from going more often it the distance from our house. I like the theme. The menu is great with lots of options. If you want your fries crispy they will do that for you. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was just ok. The greeting we got at the door was? Hared to describe. Like they were unorganized. What a wonderful oopsy! (Our usual Sunday brunch place was too crowded.) The MOJITO was excellent. Someone knew exactly what he or she was doing: a perfect muddle of the mint leaves, as well as the ideal amounts of lime and rum. Then I ordered the YAKI and wow! The grilled chicken and pineapple were cut into pieces, not ginormous chunks. And the teriyaki sauce was just the right amount along with the tomato pieces and shredded lettuce. To begin they have a super cute patio which is really nice and our waitress was fantastic. Maybe it was a bad day, wife kid and i sat down for lunch on Saturday. I ordered yaki tacos, kids cheeseburger for my son and wifey had grilled chicken sandwich. My Yaki tacos were ok, had plenty of chicken but seemed to be drown in teriyaki sauce. My son picked at his burger but refused the fries. My wife ate her chicken sandwich and stated it was ok. Two things that really stood out to me were the French fries and my wife's strawberry lemonade. The fries had a flavor that I couldn't figure out at first but later deemed they tasted like fish. Almost like the same fryer was used for everything and the oil was old. Honestly fish should not be fried in the same oil as fries as people with fish allergies will definitely have a reaction. Strawberry lemonade, possibly the worst strawberry lemonade I have ever drank. Cheap fountain chemical tasting lemonade with strawberry flavor added was terrible. Other restaurants have really taken lemonade seriously and serve something drinkable. I don't think we will return. My FAVORITE burger joint for years.. They closed all the ones near me.. I had big dreams of driving out after church to fulfill the craving and teach my 7yr old what a great burger is.. sadly, this didnt happen.. Ordered Hula Burger, and was asked how I wanted it cooked.. Med Rare .. Waitress explained this is with lots of pink in middle.. (I cook a lot, and steaks are my gems).. I cut burger in half to share with my daughter, and it was missing not only the pink, but also juices, this was clearly well done. I asked for bill, and stated burger wasn't cooked correctly, she stated they would try again and I denied a do-over since it wasnt even close and didnt want waste more of the day before driving back home.. She said she will talk to manager, but no manager came out , which shows sign of no compassion for the business.. They took the order off the bill, but thats not the point. constructive criticism works when they listen to correct it.. I worked at Island's in California over 10 years ago and haven't lived near one since then. I was really excited to see one in AZ when I moved here a few months ago. The food is just as good and consistent as it was back then. The menu hasn't changed much, which is fine - they have a really great menu. I love the turkey patty on any of the burgers! We stopped in one day for a late lunch. Burger and chicken sandwiches were all as ordered. The crispy chicken maintained it's crunch until the end. Chicken itself was juicy. The sandwich could have used a bit more sauce. Sauce was concentrated in the center. Pineapple brings additional sweetness to the sauce. Children's burgers are meat and bun. Cheese, lettuce and tomato may be added upon request. There is a choice of white or wheat buns. Fries may be added to any order as a side, or order a basket for the table. Baskets are huge. We have always gone for splitting a basket amongst 3-4 people rather than everyone ordering a side. Fries are fresh cut. The tastiest fries are the little ones with the crispy edges.
