Came for Friday lunch. Two others tables were occupied. It's a pretty big, wide open space. We were greeted quickly. Our server was pleasant and helpful. I ordered a Sol beer and my wife a classic margarita. It was not a great tasting marg. The food, though, was great and there was a lot of it.

Came it and was quickly greeted. I came in for lunch on a Thursday and it was pretty slow but had a great vibe with music playing. Asked for a spicier salsa and they delivered. Ordered a carne asada torta. It was good - salsa was good but not hot. Everything was good not great.

One of the best Mexican food I have had in a long time, great customer service. Would definitely recommend

I was there at around noon for lunch, I had the Barbacoa the meat was delicious, rice and beans were amazing. Costumer service was excellent. Price was reasonably did not disappoint. Great atmosphere I would definitely recommend it.

Clean ,peaceful , quiet. Friendly staff. The service is a bit slow. There was only one other party seated besides us. It took 20 mins to get 2 orders of tacos. We had 4 orders total. The last plate was served 10 mins after the 1st plates arrived . The food was ok. I ordered tacos, and the asada was a bit dry. Menudo was good. Carne Asada frys were good. Nice size servings. Drinks were not refilled. Requested chips that did not arrive until the last plate was served. Clean bathrooms.

This was our first time here, seems like it has only been open a few months. The staff are all friendly and it was spotless clean inside. When we we first arrived we had a little trouble with parking, all the street parking out front was full, the parking next to the building is marked for the restaurant next door only, and there are signs that tell you park in the back for the previous restaurant that was here but when we went to park there it didn't appear to be public parking but staff parking as there was no way to go to the front. We ended up parking across the street. We received chips and salsa, the chips were freshly made, the salsa was ok, I actually also received a green salsa and I liked that one better. My carnita tacos were good, had pretty good flavor. The carne asada fries and nachos were decent large portions, could use a little more flavoring. The chicharron tacos I ended up giving to my husband I just wasn't crazy about them but he said they were ok. I think this place could be really good, just a little more seasoning. Also the drinks are in a can but they do give you a cup with ice, they also have agua Frescas but appeared to be in a machine. The prices are decent, the tacos are not the typical small taco sizes as you would normally get at a taco shop they are the regular corn tortilla size, for 10 bucks you get 2 tacos. We will go back to give it another try as we typically do when something is just opening.

I cannot say enough good things about El Papas and everyone who works there. My father passed away unexpectedly at the beginning of May and this restaurant was located across the street from the funeral home we used, so when we were making the arrangements for the service we decided to check out the restaurant as a possible reception venue since it would be very convenient for our guests. Our first time in, we were greeted and served by Adrianna who treated us like family. It really felt like we had been friends forever and she took the best care of anything we needed. Her service was some of the best I have ever received and to top it off, the food was delicious and freshly made. We had a variety of food, but the big hits were the enchiladas (not pictured) and the torta ahogada. The salsas and aguas frescas (especially the maracuyá) were also super yummy. After approving of the food, we spoke to Adrianna about the possibility of hosting our reception lunch there and she introduced us to her husband Jose who gave us more information and options. Once we had an idea of what we wanted, he gave us a quote and we told him we would get back to him since we had more errands to run. Later that evening, I got a call from the owner, Jackie, who said she wanted to offer us a discount on the price Jose has given us because she understood what it was like to lose a parent and all that goes in to planning a funeral. She also told me she wanted the community of Tolleson to know that the restaurant is proud to be a part of the community and wanted to help serve its people during their time of need. I was floored. Her genuine generosity moved me, and we agreed on using the location for our reception. The day of the funeral, we arrived and to our surprise there was a flower arrangement for my father on behalf of the restaurant, another beautiful and unexpected touch. The service was too notch as usual, the food was delicious, the beers were cold, the music was perfect and most importantly all of our guests had a great time celebrating the life of my dad. Overall, words can't express the gratitude I feel to everyone at El Papas who allowed us to end such a hard day with a beautiful memory. It will definitely be a staple in our lives from now on and I can't recommend them enough. In this day and age, it is rare to feel valued as a customer, but the El Papas crew truly goes above and beyond to make sure it's patrons feel like family.

Los tacos de chicharron estan pa chuparrse los dedos. Son super amigables y limpios. Tienen karaoke y banda los fines de semana.

Yes, Yes, Yes! Today, my husband said let's try this place…read more I said ok! As we got closer, I realized I've been in the area several times. I have never ate at any of rhe places though. You order at the counter and the food comes out to the table. You can tell this place is family owned. The owners, whom I assumed were there tonight, were lovely people. While we waited, the woman who took our order brought out a basket of chips with refried beans and fresco queso on top with a side of salsa. Woah! What? Epic. But wait! A few minutes later, a precious girl with the most warm inviting, and beautiful smile came out with 2 warm, homemade corn tortillas, with salsa and cheese for us. These were just complimentary extras we didn't expect at all. Soo good. The restaurant is a humble place. Cute, clean, inviting and roomy. There is an inside seating area and an outdoor section. Someone was grilling meat out front. I think, the owner. I ordered a chili relleno combo. It comes with rice, beans, tortillas, and a drink. Hubs ordered two carne asada tacos, and a carne asada sope. I didn't try anything my husband ordered. ( I was laser focused on my meal lol) But it looked really good. He said, you can tell, they make their food with love. Yes, yes, yes, you can. My dish, was the best chili relleno I have had the entire 5 yrs I have been living in AZ. And the beans were phenomenal. Honestly, I prefer eating at places like this. We came for an impromptu date night. I can say it was one of the best meals and date nights I've had in a while. Thank you. Y'all are gonna see me alot. :)

The food is where Don Ponchos really shines. Everything tastes fresh, homemade, and deeply rooted in authentic flavors. The tacos al pastor are an absolute standout--perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with bold flavor in every bite. You can really taste the balance of spices and the care that goes into preparing them. Another must-try is the tostada de ceviche. It's refreshing, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying, with just the right amount of citrus and freshness that makes it perfect, especially on a warm Arizona day. And don't overlook the chips and beans--they're simple but so well done. The beans are rich, creamy, and full of flavor, making them the perfect complement to the freshly made chips. They weren't super busy so we got seated immediately. Our server David was very polite and attentive. He checked in frequently and helped explain some menu items for us. Shame he wasn't also on the menu because he looks like a snack. We started with the Empanadas with Chorizo, Potato, and Cheese. The appetizer portion comes with 5. These were very good, the dough tasted fresh like they were made to order. For our main entree we shared the Alebrije Parrillada for two. This gave us a good sampling of multiple meats and sides. Everything comes served in a hot molcajete. My favorite meats were the chorizo and the shrimp. My favorite bite overall was the toasted Oaxacan cheese. So good - I could've eaten an entire plate of just that. The rice and beans were decent, however the beans could have benefited from a little more salt. You can choose either flour or corn tortillas. My only qualm would be that there were some temperature inconsistencies among the various components. Some were borderline room temperature, like they had been cooked first; others were piping hot. Overall taste was great though. Will I return? Absolutely yes. If you're craving home-cooked style Mexican food that doesn't leave you feeling super heavy - this is the spot to try.

The place is clean, food is good, and the customer service is great. Here's what we usually order: Chimichanga: it's the #13 meal comes with a drink, rice, and beans. I usually switch the filling for carne asada or carnitas. That thing is huge! I usually only order it if I'm sharing because otherwise it's too much. Unless you have a huge appetite, my 18 year old son can down one of those in one sitting without flinching. Mini street tacos: comes in meal of 5 with a drink. the cabeza here is really good , not too greasy. The tripas are the best, very crunchy with just the perfect amount of chewiness . Anyone who has tried making tripas at home knows they are 1. Expensive. 2. Tedious. 3. They stink up the house. So Filiberto's is my go to to get my tripa fix. Carne asada fries: just perfection and generous servings. California burrito: Also huge and big enough to share but my teens can finish it in one sitting as well. Rolled tacos: recently discovered they served carne asada flautas. The tortilla is too thick in my opinion but still very good. They drown them in guacamole. This place is open 24 hours which I love, we are night owls and often find ourselves in the drive thru at midnight. Salsa is not the best but it will do. We have been coming here for years and the employees even recognize us. Don't forget about the aguas frescas. Mmm horchata!
