I've never put an order for a cake before so this experience is was all new to me. I went on their website to put in a request for a Napoleon birthday cake with a ganache top. They had a number which I called and the person on the other end gave a number which I could text more details about what I needed, for how many, my name, etc. Since they were driving and couldn't take my order at the moment I made sure to provide as much info and the time/day. I put the order 5 days before I said it needed it and they agreed it can be done by then. I thought it was easy and I just followed it up with the change of topping on the cake. I explicitly stated to text me if they needed anything else from me since I have never done this before. I probably should've followed them up, but I was busy that week. Since I didn't hear anything afterwards I thought I had secured my order. The day I come to pick up the cake, they tell me they don't have the order. The lady who I spoke to, who I'm assuming was on the phone when I initially called, is telling me I put a request not an order and that I didn't even provide my full name (not true, I did). I'm being told that I shouldve put down a deposit and have a contract with them for the cake. I wasn't provided with any contract or a Zelle username. If I had that information I would've absolutely done it. As a business you should provide the customer with that sort of information. I had no idea and I wasn't told that thru text. Should I have followed up? Absolutely, i know that now. There's no information on the website about a contract or deposit information. Only the phone number that I first called. So they should probably update that if they have so many orders and can't keep track with request. There was a lot of deflection from the lady when i tried to explain my grievance. No apology either for the confusion. I felt crazy because I thought I might've missed their messages. Nope nothing. Only the Zelle information after I had arrive there. Luckily, they had puff pastry ready and told me they could have the cake ready in 15 min, and I really needed the cake so I agree to still do business. When I got the cake it was still warm and they told me to freeze it in my refrigerator for it to set. 15 min to get to my place and the ganache has melted off the top and custard had already spilled out from the sides. I had a long drive afterwards and not even an insulated bag could save it. It did taste good, it's too bad about communication, and everything else. read more

Buche de Noel - Tiramisu. OMG this was so good! Also.a nice size. Easily nine generous slices! It is suppose to serve six (small size). Beautiful to serve and so delicious to eat! I will never buy a Buche de Noel (Yule Log) anywhere else! Buche de Noel traditionally are rolled cakes and difficult to make. Many are made as a cake ysing a tube for the pan (not rolled). The cake I ordered was amazing! It was too large for my wife and I so she shared the remaining with her colleagues. They loved it, finished it asking for more! The shop itself is quite aesthetic, with tables that have vibrant pink bench seats, perfect for a photo op. Just for context, my wife and I had our wedding in Italy so of course the millefoglie was our wedding cake. To celebrate our first wedding anniversary, I was looking for any Italian bakeries in the OC area that would make this but in a small size. Poul's bakery seemed like the only one and I am so glad I reached out to them. Ayliz, the owner, is super easy to work with and took my order with no problems. The best cannolis! I called to order a couple dozen mini cannolis for my dad's 70th and ended up ordering a Black Forest cake as well. Both the cannolis and the cake were a hit! Cute & somewhat romantic place and was recommended by a fellow yelpie. Their website states that they're open from 9am and they have a list of specialty cake to choice from. When I got there at 9:10am, in an industrial areal and parking is quite limited. They do have a patio which they transformed into a romantic sidewalk or patio seating area with an arch entrance. They're open BUT met the owner (lovely once you talked to her that is), and was informed that you have to call in to order the cake (A MUST) and some of the cakes that listed on line (they have NOT UPDATED THEIR WEBSITE for awhile, and I don't think they will). are no longer available and the store is open for pick up only - yup, and mine was one of them, the "carrot cake", which was a huge disappointment BUT since I heard about this place so I placed another one in person plus the cannolis...which is VERY deliciously good, perfectly tasty filling and topping, yum! They shop, per the owner is in transforming into a teatime experience place but at the present time, not yet. They don't have anything available or any display, all are make to order therefore, remember a must CALL AHEAD and see what availability. Mine was able to pick up in 2 hrs, since she asked for how many serving and recommended the size, and all the details in the cake. Is it cheap or reasonable pricing? I got a small cake & 6 cannolis for a total of $67. I would say it's on the high end side BUT WORTH IT. The cake was simply delicious and she makes the filling jam double plus it perfectly sweet, the cake is soft and tasty and it reminded me of the cake I had in Europe. This place is definitely a MUST try! I ordered a Princess cake for my birthday and it seriously was THE best cake I have ever had! The outer shell is made of marzipan (almond paste) which has similar consistency as fondant, but has an almond like aftertaste which was amazing. The inside is a soft and spongy white cake with a layer of raspberry filling (which had no artificial taste at all) and a layer of vanilla. I can't stress enough how GOOD this cake was. Recently ordered a tiramisu cake online and picked up around 11am and she said to keep it in the fridge until serving time which we waited til 6pm to serve and it was frozen every bite had ice. Got the Fraisier for 30 people for $135.00. I'm giving 2 stars because the cake was very pretty and definitely presentable. It looked exactly as shown in the photo, which I appreciated. In my opinion, the marzipan tasted more like fondant than traditional marzipan, and I was hoping for the classic almond flavor. I also found the bread to very dry, and the custard did not have the rich taste I was expecting, it tasted cheap. Regarding the serving size, it seemed that the cake would only serve 30 people if each guest received a very thin sliver; a more generous portion would be preferable for gatherings of that size.
