Another fantastic experience at Poulet Bleu! We sat at the bar, as we often do. Our servers were attentive and extremely helpful with their suggestions for food and proper libations. The restaurant is comfortable and elegant without being pretentious. I hear the upstairs bar has reopened and will need to return to explore!
The roasted duck was 10/10 and the decor was so beautiful. We sat at the front of the restaurant and I wish would could've sat further back to see more of the restaurant. I also enjoyed the aligot a lot. The asparagus was okay and the fries were yummy. The chocolate souffle was so decadent. Overall, the service was wonderful, but I was expecting more given the hype surrounding this place.
The ambiance was a 10/10. The patio was really cool and recommend you get out there if you could. Very nice place. The service was also very good. They were all very nice and attentive. Now to the food. This was the first time trying duck and maybe it's just not for us. I most likely would never order this again as the greasy type of meat wasn't for us. The mussels were pretty good. They're just as good as mussels anywhere else. The French onion soup was really good. Would definitely try that again. The chocolate souflee was really really good. Would come back just to have this again. Overall if i come back and get a different entree this may be a 5.

Upstairs, where we sat, was cozy and quieter. Service was attentive and classy. Our server gave us some details on our choices and made great suggestions. So, I'm a cocktail girlie. I love a strong drink. The option I wanted wasnt available. No problem, I get something else. But I dont think it had a single drop of alcohol. So I was a little sad about that because it was absolutely delicious. Highly suggest ordering the French onion soup. Best I ever had? Maybe!! And I've been to Paris lol Also, get a steak!! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I overhead a serve suggest the burger so I may get that next time. Lastly, order the chocolate souffle. Its huge but pure decadence!! Highly recommend this cute lil Parisian gem.
We finally made it to Poulet Bleu after making a resy months in advance. Verdict is the food and service is solid. We arrived for our 7:15 resy and were seated by the corner next to the garage windows. Luckily, it was a warm March evening so it didn't feel cold. Our waiter, Dominic, was helpful with wine pairings. Food wise we ordered: - Olives: A sizable portion of black and green olives. No pit bowl was unusual - Patte: Delightful and one of the better ones I've had - Salad: Fresh with a light vinaigrette - Duck: Delightful cooked and rich. The rhubarb complements it perfectly - Lobster spaghetti: Average--nothing wowed or stood out to me here We were thinking it would be a true French experience, leisurely eating the night away. Dominic had noted the appetizers would come, followed by the salad, then the mains. However, things came out TOO fast. The salad came with the appetizers and our mains were presented to us while we were still working on our salad. My spaghetti cooled a bit while sitting there. One star off for this. Dominic did acknowledge the fast timing and comp'ed our drinks, which was a nice gesture. Not sure what happened that night. I met up with a friend who had a different experience and felt the timing of each course was perfect. Definitely worth a try.
My wife and I say yes "Oui" to Poulet Bleu. We were excited to see this restaurant re-open. It took us a while to get a reservation, but the garden patio was worth it. Starting out, we ordered a delicious cheese plate with Brie, blue and Gouda paired with baguette slices, jam, almonds and a honeycomb. We split a bottle of red wine recommended by our server. While the name escapes me, it paired excellently with our dinner. My wife ordered the chicken (Poulet Roti) and I ordered the duck. French preparation of chicken is inspired and Poulet Bleu certainly delivered. The breast and thigh pieces were tender, juicy and herby, served with a rich truffle infused stuffing and delicious vegetable medley with more truffles. The savory duck breast was marvel of textures, from the crispness of the skin to the fatty, steak like breast meat itself, moist and delicious. The endive pairing and green olive purée provided a crunchy and salty balance to the whole experience. Finally, we ordered the chocolate soufflé for dessert. A beautifully rich, fluffy and decadent pastry served with vanilla ice crème and fruit purée, it was pure heaven. Easily could be shared between 4 people. We loved our experience here and can't wait for our next night out "uni sortie". Magnefique!

I wasn't that surprised as getting dinner reservations here is challenging. The bar is on the second floor. The first floor feels very Parisian whereas the upstairs reminds me of French Polynesia. I really liked both vibes. To drink, I had the Old Fashioned l'Orange and my husband had the Belle of the Boulevardier. Beautiful well made drinks!!! Hope to be back again soon for dinner!

Then ordered the Bistro Salad $14 & shareable for 2. So fresh and light. Loved the red wine vinaigrette. The FRIES. O M G. On the menu these are under "LEGUMES" and titled: Truffle Frites. $12 and so worth it + shareable again. The truffle aioli was so yum. For our dinner we both ordered the chicken! Titled Poulet Rǒti on the menu! So flavorful. The best chicken breast I've had. & of course we had to finish with the Chocolate Soufflé! Heads up, if you know you want that for dessert, give them a heads up so it comes out after your meal! 10/10 experience. Cannot wait to go back for more!! Reservations can be difficult but they have bar seating if you want to try your luck. The ambiance is amazing, we sat on the covered patio in the winter and they had heaters to keep you comfortable. Every course we had was delicious. You must try the French onion soup. Our water didn't even give us the option to not end with the soufflé and there were no regrets. Excited to go back and try a different area of the restaurant to see the full remodel.

Poulet Bleu describes itself as an American bistro on the menu which is kind of funny. You know they're going for a French restaurant, but maybe that will temper the ever rare French Pittsburgh folks' expectations. We shared the cheese plate, filet mignon with frites, and the soufflé. The filet and frites were cooked perfectly, and the soufflé is a must-order. Both the entrée and dessert felt completely worth it. The cheese plate was good, but for the price, it's probably the one thing we'd skip next time. I had a Kir Royale, which was delightful and a great way to start the meal. We were seated on the enclosed front patio with the fountain, which made for a really lovely atmosphere. While nothing special was done to acknowledge my birthday, the service was attentive, friendly, and approachable throughout the evening. Overall, a great spot for a special night out if you're craving classic French flavors in a bistro setting.
Wow! I cannot rate this place higher, it is one of the best meals I have ever ate, and if you look I've reviewed a lot of places. The service is incredible, our server was incredibly nice, had recommendations and even gave us a celebratory glass of champagne for our anniversary. The baguette was exactly as you want. But the star of the show was the roasted duck. Crispy and flavorful skin and a perfect medium rare on the inside. The potatoes were cheesy and delicious, and my wife loved her lobster spaghetti. The atmosphere is amazing, definitely sit in the front area near the fountain. Seriously, I can't recommend this place more. read more

Ambiance: 5/5!!! This place is decorated fabulously through the entire space. Very beautiful and romantic. Service: 5/5 the servers were wonderful and attentive. Service was appropriately paced. They do ask that you submit your entire order at once which is my preference anyway. Drink: 5/5 delightful cocktails and nice wine menu, definitely all pricey though Food: we have olives, the cheese plate, the bistro salad, and filet mignon frites both with the cognac peppercorn sauce and truffle sauce for the fries and finished with the chocolate soufflé. The food was all very good! The steaks were perfectly good and delish! The fries were quite salty but that is my preference so I enjoyed them a lot. The soufflé was delicious! Not too sweet and the ice cream with sauces was a nice touch. Value& cost 3/5: it was a very pricey dinner especially for what it was. The ambiance is clearly elevated and stunning which contributes to this. For a nice celebratory or special occasion dinner, this is a great place! Definitely pricier than I'd normally pay for an upscale date night. Total score: 4/5 Overall, we had a lovely romantic dinner celebrating our anniversary. We sat in the court yard next to the fountain and it was a great spot. Staff were attentive and friendly-- they also brought us 2 free glasses of rosé for our celebration. Tried the roasted duck, gnocchi and New York strip frites. Everything was well prepared authentic French preparation. The duck was the best plate the three. Only comment was that the finishing salt on both the gnocchi and fries was way too much. Staff was very nice and the location is very cool. Looks like Casis met Miami and they had a child. read more

Poulet Bleu was such a treat! The French onion soup, aligot potatoes, and chocolate soufflé are all a must. The staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. I wasn't as impressed by my entree, poulet roti, but will definitely be back to try something else! I've heard great things about the duck but unfortunately they were all out this night. My boyfriend got the steak frites and thoroughly enjoyed his meal. Our reservation was in the garden area which felt so classy yet whimsical either the fountain in the background. I can't stop thinking about how lucky we are to have a little piece of France right here in Pittsburgh at everyone's favorite French spot, Poulet Bleu. I was blessed to dine twice in October for their reopening and I still can't believe this truly beautiful space is back. (& that I went so long without it) My favorite dishes are the bread & butter, scallop appetizer, steak frites, cauliflower side and the chocolate mousse. I can't wait to see what fun things the team does and I'll be anticipating when the caramels return. read more

Several friends and I had a dinner reservation on Friday night and enjoyed a spread of fine cuisine and drinks, including French onion soup, escargot, truffle frites, lobster spaghetti, Lyonnaise salad, chef's cut, Kir Royale, Old Fashion l'Orange, and Treaty of Versailles. The restaurant is beautiful, especially with a fountain centered in what used to be the outdoor patio, now an enclosed dining room. We were seated right behind the host stand near the door, which kept being left open and unfortunately let a lot of cold air despite overhead heaters. Our waiter was attentive and patient as we yapped for three hours, but the overall service felt overwhelmed as they were behind with reserved seatings and my friend's non-alcoholic drink took 15-20 minutes to arrive. I loved sitting right by the fountain. Our server was attentive, helpful, and just awesome! For drinks, get Bordeaux - you won't regret it. As for the food, I don't know where to start. It's all just so good. For appetizers, the mussels are excellent. The broth is full of tomato flavor, and I loved the shaved fennel. The beef tartar was the best I've ever had. So garlicky and delicious!!! The escargot was full of butter and herbs. Our baguette was fresh out of the oven. For an entree, I had the duck. Hands down the best duck I've had! Cooked to perfection and crispy skin!! The carrots are the best in Pittsburgh. The crème fraiche is the perfect accompaniment. The aligot potatoes had a cheese pull. Potatoes with a cheese pull are beyond extraordinary. Soufflé for dessert is a must. It's huge, delicious, and right out of the oven. They ask that you order all parts of your meal at once, so it's good to go in with an idea of what you want to eat. We love the DeShantz group, and Poulet Bleu is our favorite, and as their instagram says, we're so back!!! read more
Just dined here after we reopened and it was just as delicious as it used to be! We started with the scallop-wow! It's incredible, and served on a shell. Beautiful presentation! For dinner we ordered the halibut, hangar steak, aligot potatoes and truffle fries. Everything was amazing. The aligot potatoes didn't seem as cheesy as before, but they were still delicious. I haven't been to Poulet Bleu since 2021. I was excited when they announced their reopening, and it did not disappoint!! The restaurant sits on Penn Avenue in Lawrenceville smack dab in between two brick buildings. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary bistro, but inside there's charm and personality! They enclosed the front porch so there's extra space to dine, and it's heated for the winter months. The fountain in the middle and the lighted lanterns make the ambiance of this restaurant perfection. In the back, you must walk past the bar, and you are welcomed by an open kitchen with seating directly in front. It was an experience in itself watching how the entire kitchen staff operated. Some renovations were made (like the floor) but overall the restaurant still has the utmost charm. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The service was a little slower than preferred, but we didn't sit super long in between courses. The restaurant was very busy so it was natural for there to be a little bit of a wait. Here is what we ordered: [French Onion Soup]: This was the best soup I've ever had. The herbs de Provence spices made this perfection. [Steak Tartare]: This was something out of my comfort zone, and I didn't love it. There was a really strong dill and mustard flavor that I didn't enjoy, but my husband did like it. [Roasted Duck]: My husband really enjoyed this dish! [Poulet Roti]: The chicken was the most tender I've ever had. The dish was accompanied with truffle stuffing. I wish the truffle taste was stronger and there was more, but I completely devoured my meal. [Chocolate Souffle]: This dessert was an absolute delight. It was perfectly cooked, and I loved the accoutrements: vanilla bean ice cream, Creme anglaise, & cherry compote. All paired perfectly well with the souffle! The long anticipated re-opening was worth the wait! You can go wrong with Poulet Bleu! First the redesign gives the space a new feel and I loved the courtyard! Service was excellent. Comfortable seating near the kitchen so we could watch the action. The strip steak with Cognac Peppercorn sauce was delicious. Tender, seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. The fries are a bit lackluster but........ the side of roasted carrots were worth every penny. The Lyonnaise salad was light and refreshing. I finally had a chance to check out Poulet Bleu and it did not disappoint! We sat in the patio area, which in fact is closed in with heaters in the winter time. I appreciate that the space is functional year round. I started out with a martini. The drink presentation was very elegant. For entrees, I ordered the steak frites with Bernaise sauce. My boyfriend ordered the bistro burger and the charred cauliflower. We of course had to end it our meal with the chocolate soufflé! Everything we tasted was delicious. So glad to have Poulet Bleu back, and exactly how I remembered it! amazing as always. I finally was able to snag a reservation. From the ambiance, to the impeccable service to the food everything about our visit was spot on. My favorites of the night were the rotating pate (liver and veal) and the steak frites with cognac peppercorn sauce. The steak and duck were cooked to perfection. Happy to confirm this place is worth the hype! The French onion soup was probably the best I've ever had! The steak and chicken were cooked perfectly. The fries were cooked in something delicious I couldn't get over it. The carrots had a creme fraiche with it that paired perfectly. This was my first time back at Poulet Bleu since they closed. The restaurant was very busy. The outdoor ambiance I liked way better than where we sat in the back, it felt like you were dining with the people sitting next to you. My steak was cooked perfectly but they asked which sauce you wanted and I did not realize it would cover the steak and not be on the side. The French onion soup was good but not better than any other place that serves it. The Lyonaise salad was very good. read more

I think I have found the best food in the Burgh. My wife and i came here based off a recommendation from a friend and it did NOT disappoint. We got French Onion soup, baguette, truffle fries, Filet mignon , and regular fires in the garlic aioli sauce. The steak was better than Ruth Chris and Morton's. No lie. The service was top notch and Lawrenceville is such a great place to dine. I cannot wait to go back. Definitely a five star establishment!!!! read more
