Went on Sunday night as a first date, place was cute and had a lot of seating options. Our server was kind and helpful with the menu. We didn't get checked on much throughout the night , which I personally don't mind much. Food was yummy. I got the short rib and my date had chicken parm. Portion sizes for both were generous.

Dropped by for some cocktails at the bar and all the drinks were pretty well balanced. The Whisper Eden was refreshing but some other drinks were a bit too sweet. Space is much bigger than their former home in Davis and the high ceilings and acoustics make it a nice bar hang. Service was fast and friendly, would return at some point to try dinner.

I stopped by Posto at 6 on a random Monday night in early March for a quick bite to take back to my hotel and the pizza far surpassed expectations. I grabbed a buffalo chicken pizza and it was amazing. The crust had a little flop to it but I think that's to be expected with this type of pizza. I posted up at the bar and barely had time to finish my Peroni draft by the time the pizza came out. The bartender was friendly, fast and efficient. 10/10 - amazing.

Brunch at Posto in the South End was such a great experience and I would definitely go back. The service was incredible. our server was so attentive and super helpful, even going back to the kitchen to check which pasta dishes were available during brunch. That kind of effort always makes the experience feel extra special. The drinks were gorgeous and tasted just as good as they looked. For food, I ordered the chicken and waffles and they were delicious, the perfect sweet and savory combo. We also got the shrimp pasta, which was so good. The only thing that didn't totally wow us was the arancini. The texture was great, but it was lacking a little flavor compared to everything else. Not bad, just not as strong as the other dishes. Overall, such a fun brunch spot with amazing service, great drinks, and really solid food. I'd definitely go back and now I really want to try Posto for dinner too.

Posto, located at the Assembly Row in Somerville , is an Italian restaurant that will want you coming back for more ! We were lucky enough to sit at the bar as it was a busy Mother's Day afternoon. They have brunch every weekend 10-3 so plan accordingly. I'll jump right to it and say their drink menu has a nice variety from wines to a traditional Bloody Mary. They did have a Mother's Day drink special, which was nice. Since I already had drinks at the previous establishment I was in, unfortunately I chose not to drink here, but I will mention that their soda was crispy! I had ordered the meatballs and just wow , I couldn't really describe the sauce you just have to try it to understand, but you can definitely tell this is not your store-bought marinara. I did also try and bit of their French toast and that one bite was pure perfection. Holy moly!! Posto, good job. We will be back.

Let me start off by saying the service I've received at Posto is always incredible and the ambience is great for a date night or nice dinner with friends. I go pretty regularly, but I was very disappointed with my experience this most recent time. I was very sad to see they had taken the pesto pasta off the menu, it was so delicious! So instead, I ordered the Fungi to try something new and a Meatball Pizza as a reliable item I knew I already liked. The pasta was fragrant and tasty, though slightly under-seasoned. The chicken milanese we added was fried to perfection but also slightly under-seasoned. The pizza felt a bit different as well, not quite sure why. In memory, it had an overall sweeter profile? This time around I felt the sauce and meatballs were a bit more sharp and almost bitter. I really want to believe they were just having an off night when I went, but the price point is just slightly too high for me to feel this way and still recommend it to others. Not sure when I'll return.

Posto came to my attention when I saw this video that was posted in another forum. Since we were planning our trip to Boston, I was sure to bookmark it. Posto made a list of the top 50 pizza places in the country (they rank 36th). At first, my husband wondered just where in Somerville they were located. There are parts of Somerville that require transfers from the subway to a bus. Looking at the map Yelp provides in its business pages, we were both pleasantly surprised at just how easy it was to get there. Getting there for us involved getting on an orange line train heading "outbound". In the late 80s, the Orange Line was realigned, which involved creating new stations while keeping some of the older ones. The stop where Posto is located is "Assembly". This stop was added as an afterthought. Years ago, a car assembly plant was located there. In recent times, it was torn down to make room for yet another urbanized town center-type project that retained the name "Assembly". Posto is a short block walk away from the T station. We weren't sure how busy it would be, given all the hype. We made an early reservation. It was unnecessary as there was plenty of room in the place. We ordered calamari as a starter. We were impressed at how perfectly it was fried, and the portion size was just right. We ordered a Margherita pizza and it was quite good. My husband found the sauce to be a bit too salty. I didn't really notice that. The sauce had a nice, fresh flavor: it was splendid in its simplicity, as we wanted to taste the basic ingredients in the pie without any toppings getting in the way. Service was great. The staff was friendly and efficient. The decor is modern and spare. It's hard not to miss the brick-fired oven. Is the pizza one of the best in the country? Hard for us to honestly say but we enjoyed it and would consider a return visit whenever we visit "home" again.

Wow! The Roasted Garlic Pie was ELITE. I'm still salivating from it. I've never been a white pizza type person, but this one was outta this world. I ate the whole thing! Roasted Garlic, bacon, Mozzarella?! CHEF'S KISS! I can't wait to go back!!

Tasty but oh so pricey (as expected from the area). They were packed on a weekend evening and luckily we were able to get a seat at the bar without much wait. The bartender was super nice and got our drinks and food in quickly. The pasta was tasty but nothing out of the world. The pizza was also good- crust had a nice bite where it was chewy and a little crisp. Both were good but not sure if I'll keep coming back for the price. Still a good spot for a "casual" date night.

I think Posto is a great addition to Assembly Row. The atmosphere is really nice and the service is great. I do feel the menu could use a touch more variety but all in all they have a nice selection. My friend and I shared the Mortadella & Whipped Ricotta appetizer with hot honey, pistachio, and parmesan. It was good, but not great. I thought it lacked depth and flavor. For dinner, I had the Almondine pizza. It was a white pizza with toasted almonds, ricotta, mozzarella, fontina, chili infused honey. The flavor was fantastic. The pizza was a bit doughy and soft. I felt it could have been just a touch crispier. I totally enjoyed it nonetheless. It sounds simple but the flavor and texture was unique and delicious. All in all, I recommend Posto!

Posto has such a lively, happy vibe -- the kind of place that instantly puts you in a good mood. The service was genuinely 10/10 -- friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. We ordered the Margherita and Almondine pizzas, truffle fries, olives, bruschetta, and burrata, and everything was amazing. The pizzas were fresh and flavorful, the truffle fries perfectly crispy, and the burrata was creamy and rich -- just perfect all around. It's the kind of restaurant that's great for both date nights and fun dinners with friends. Can't wait to go back!

Had a really poor pick up experience with an extremely long wait and overly salty pizza. Food: Obviously since I picked up and ate it 20 minutes after it was handed to me it's not as good as freshly baked, but I can still say it was overly salty and disappointing for the price. Service: While the staff tried to be nice, it did feel like they were brushing me off every time I asked about my pickup order. After waiting 45 minutes (the original quoted wait when we ordered online) I went and asked about the order. I was repeatedly told just 5-10 more minutes until waiting close to 30 minutes longer. 1 hr 15 min wait for 2 personal pizzas is way too long. Atmosphere: The interior was quite cozy and atmospheric, but knowing I might have to wait longer than an hour for a pizza turned me off from coming and dining in person.

This is a classy, upscale Italian spot in Assembly Row - it gets quite busy, so you definitely need to make a reservation in advance. I was lucky to snag the last one before the dinner rush. I was intent on trying the pizza here, so we ordered the peach (white sauce), with prosciutto on just half. Unfortunately - and perhaps because we made that modification - the rest of the toppings on the non-prosciutto half were pretty sparse. But either way, the pizza was decent, though it lost some of its structural integrity as the dough and crust were pretty wet even immediately after being served. The pizza was also cut into only four slices, and I felt like six would've been more appropriate here. However, I was even more impressed that the fungi pasta stood out even more than the pizza - it was excellent, and I would absolutely recommend it. It struck the precise sweet spot between satisfying a mushroom lover, while the mushroom flavor not being too overwhelming for someone who dislikes mushrooms. I also love rigatoni, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. We also ordered the pane as an appetizer, and I would skip that next time if getting the pizza, since they're essentially the same thing. We rounded it out with tiramisu - I was excited based on some reviews online, though skeptical when what we got looked significantly different than the pictures I had seen. I appreciated the higher sponge-to-cream ratio (I love the soaked ladyfingers!), whereas I feel that many other spots around Boston emphasize the cream. However, the cocoa powder was extremely grainy and not fine enough, making the overall texture more difficult to eat. On top of that, the tiramisu's flavors were weak, as if it hadn't had enough time to soak in and infuse all of the layers. I wouldn't order this again.

This food is always on point! My wife and I rave about the garlic panne, the olives, and meatballs. The service is hit or miss. Today was definitely a miss. One of the male servers/baristas exhibited condescending/mocking behavior toward me after I communicated about ordering more food. When I had shared his comments were inappropriate, he did not acknowledge my complaint or take accountability for his behavior; he did not provide a sense of courtesy for me as a paying customer. My dining experience afterwards felt uncomfortable due to the constant power struggle with the aforementioned male server/barista (He is in the picture below on the top left side). Nonetheless the ambiance was also on point. I hope this is brought to the attention of the managers/owners because this treatment/service is not acceptable. read more

I came here on a Tuesday evening before 6pm and there was plenty of seating around. My friend and I just grabbed a table and were able to order immediately. We shared two pizzas - one peach and one that was half sausage, and half eggplant. Hands down the peach pizza was my fav! All the flavors were so good together - a perfect sweet & savory option. The eggplant pizza was also really good and the sausage didn't disappoint. Two pizzas was plenty for two people, we had 2 slices leftover (each pizza is cut into 4 slices). Visited Posto yesterday. Place is airy and spacious. The restaurant however became quite busy. The wait staff seemed very harried towards the end of our visit. Two were serving while a couple more seemed to be supporting them. They did a wonderful thing to keep it moving. Food came out promptly. The food tasted fresh and good. The Pizza, Pasta and the salad were all very good. One issue was I wanted to box the remainder of the pizza and Pasta and the waiter took the plates and don't know what happened to the left overs. This really knocked the whole experience down. I do not like to waste food and we had half the pizza on the plate. read more

This is the kind of spot that would be a nice chill but elevated stop for a glass of wine. The service is pretty darn awful but, let me tell you, the servers and bartenders could spit in my eye if it meant I could eat the food here. The arancini in particular was so so damn good. The lighting is a little too bright but that might be because I'm a fan of gay lighting. Great value for what you get. Had a dinner at Posto on a Sunday night. I got recommended to this place based on the pizza. The pizza WAS GREAT. Got the spicy sausage pizza. The crust was A+, sauce was saucy. Also got the meatballs. Apparently the meatballs were Nonna's recipe. Also very good. Wish the meatballs came with a little bit of bread because they were sitting in a nice plate of red sauce and tomatos which I was sad not to have something to scoop or dip into with. My date had the octopus appetizer, I don't do octopus but the dish looked fine. We got the ceaser salad. Had an anchove on the salad which looked impressive, but the salad was bland. Food comes out quick, I placed my order and about 90 seconds later food was at my table. Almost concerning how fast the food came out. I would recommend this place for the pizza. And I will definitely be coming back again for more pizza as this is one of the best pizzas I have had in the Boston area. My date and I shared the pizza and it was a good size. Overall, pizza amazing, service and ambiance a little busy and rushed. read more

Honestly Great experience with the staff here, the music and vibes here are amazing. Everyone friendly. Food was amazing. Great place to bring a date. Highly recommend the Sun-kissed cocktail. the citrus flavor and the chili just enhanced the drink. Nice atmosphere and good food! Four of us stopped in at Assembly Row before a hockey game at TD Garden (T subway is right there). Our reservation was ready when we arrived. We shared two pizzas, the prosciutto red pizza and the buffalo chicken white pizza. One pizza is big enough for two to share. Both were delicious. We sat at a high top table in the bar area. Nice atmosphere and filled in quickly after we arrived. We preferred the bar area to the dining area. Service was great and attentive. I saw some of the entrees go by and they looked really good. This is a 3,5 review and not a 3 star. I went to Posto to try their Neapolitan style pizza, since they cook it in a 800 forno (which is custom in Napoli). However, I left feeling lack luster. To drink I ordered a sangria rossa, which I assume was premade (after looking around the bar and found a red and white pitcher) since even with ice it was not as chilled I'm accustomed. I didn't ask for more ice for a watered down drink. I wish sangrias were made to order. I began the meal with arancini, which came out in less than 5 minutes from ordering along with my mixed greens salad. The arancini was lukewarm when I bite into it and not oozing with cheesiness as I had hoped. What saved the dish was the red sauce, which was straightforward and without all the fluff that I feel is more Italian. The mixed green salad was just a little sad looking with the balsamic and greens. And the combo of feta, apple, red onion, and candied walnuts just wasn't working ... Maybe because of the balsamic ? Minus the red sauce, the appetizers didn't taste like any soul/passion/love was put into it. I did order what I came for, which was the Neapolitan pizza. The dough was soft and chewy, had nice char bites without it being too much. Neither the bacon or roasted garlic competed for attention but complimented each other well with every bite. Overall, the pizza was fine but nothing to write home about. The service was good - bar tenders attentive. Plenty of seating for a Saturday night even when it was busy. Posto does charge a 5% kitchen fee, which I think is high for the quality. I get for a living wage (I've worked BOH); however, food shouldn't overall be lackluster coming from them. read more

My friend and I tried this place for the first time on Sunday. When you walk in, the host is so welcoming. It's a cozy restaurant and the lighting is dark but not too dark that you can't read the menu. The tables have actual candles which is very cool! Not something you see often. Oh my I want to love this place so much. Service from the front of the house to the wait staff was superlative. The meal moved along well. Juan, our server, was exceptional. He anticipated everything, he is excellent. The drinks were delicious. Their cocktails are very creative and fun. Appetizers, arancini and calamari were perfect. Both were flavorful and lots of good crunch. Very nicely done. I ordered the fungi pasta and asked for less cheese. As you might expect by now, it came out perfectly. Portions were large. The first disappointment was the pizza. My friend ordered the prosciutto pizza and the bottom and top were burned. We did not order it well done and it was beyond well done. I tried a piece and it was beyond chewy. We should have sent it back, it was not edible. Next disappointment was the expresso. I ordered a a double and there was not bitter finish to it. It was bland, almost like instant. Overall we had fun, and we will be back, the place has potential. read more

I loved this place the first time I tried it but our second trip brought it back down to earth. The food is pretty good, the interior is nice and modern but the service leaves a lot to be desired. They also now charge a kitchen fee onto the bill too by the way, so be prepared for that on top of gratuity. I think Posto is having an identity crisis with their Assembly Row location compared to Davis Square. They're still trying to stay hip for the young crowd but Assembly is mainly families and more suburban. They blast loud techno club music and dress very gaudy. The service starts poorly with the host/hostesses, they're very judgemental and couldn't figure out how to sit us when the restaurant was empty at 4PM. There were literally only 2 other tables that were dining at the time, it was very slow but she seemed so offended that we walked in without reservations... and by the time we finished our meal there were only maybe 4 tables total with the whole place still empty. In a restaurant that's over 75% empty you shouldn't need 5-10 minutes to figure out where to sit someone. It seemed to get worse too as she whispered something to the server as if it was a hassle to serve our party? Our first waiter must've been changing shifts or something because he seemed like we were bothering him by dining there and we got a new guy halfway through the meal. The second server was much nicer, not sure where the first guy went but he probably shouldn't be in the food industry with that attitude. Overall I wish they would get their heads out of their... and do better because the good food is marred by questionable staff hospitality. I regret telling my office coworkers to eat here and would say it's hit or miss depending on who's working. If you do go, try the pizza, meat and shrooms and the pesto pasta. read more

I saw this place on a list of top pizza restaurants in the country and had to try it! The restaurant was spacious, clean and even had a brick oven. The staff were friendly, quick and attentive. You could also see the workers making the pizza dough. I thought the sauce and crust were superior to other very popular/famous pizza spots in Massachusetts. My husband and I shared the meat lovers and prosciutto pizza. I would definitely come back for the prosciutto pizza. read more

Soooo I didn't order food from here, I ordered really good pizza and got this when the door dash driver made a mistake and delivered somone else's order. My wife and I ate this pizza and arancini... Truly wish I didn't. The marinara sauce was spicy... The arancini was fried rice ball yea but... Not very Italian made. The pizza was good awful, like chewing on cardboard. There was barely any sauce on the pizza and it was cuz it's 4 giant slices not 8. As we are from Italian families, we grew up around Italian food and this Posto trash is not Italian food. Maybe it's suppose to resemble Italian food but it definitely don't taste like it. Do yourself a favor and eat from anywhere else, because this place is awful and will leave you feeling sick like we have since last night. Pretty sure the pizza was undercooked as well so just, if you want pizza and your in assembly row... Go to ernestos not this nasty, poor excuse for an Italian restaurant. read more

We were very excited to try this place because we had heard good reviews. The margherita was overall okay, sauce was tangy and cheese was good. Garlic roasted pizza tasted like garlic bread with lots of cheese. The dough was not very airy and light, and pizzas kind of felt flat. We had bad burps throughout the evening. I mean we've had better Neapolitan pizzas in town so this one was a bummer comparatively. The service was fast and servers were friendly. It was a busy Friday evening with great ambiance. read more

Overall, this is a solid place to go for not necessarily the most authentic, but overall acceptable Italian food. The garden salad was very intricate, and the dressing was tasty. The quality of the meat was above average in the chicken Parmesan, which was cooked properly, although the additional pasta was pretty minimal. Service was polite and friendly and the restaurant ambience was clean and functional overall this place is good for what it is. read more

My sister told me this place had the best chicken parmesan in town so we had to try it! We came pretty early close to when they opened, no wait, cozy and very great service. Rafael was our server and he helped us out really well. We ordered the chicken parmesan and the pepperoni pizza for our entrees. I was amazed with the pizza and the perfect crispness of the pepperoni. Chicken Parmesan was delicious as well. For dessert, we ordered gelato and tiramisu. Probably the best tiramisu I've ever had. Have walked by this restaurant many times and finally had the opportunity to try it. It was a Friday night. We were able to find both street and walk right in and be seated. The host staff was very friendly We were in a little bit of a rush, but our waitress was accommodating and friendly. The ambiance was nice, clean, and stylish. Located right in the heart of assembly row, this place is great for a place to catch up with friends/family oriented grab takeout from. The restaurant is fairly large making it easy to find a seat at anytime of day. We went for a family dinner on a Saturday and despite having reservations we were seated even sooner. The food portions are very large so we had a ton of leftovers that lasted for days. We specifically enjoyed the chicken parm and the eggplant pizza. Both were well flavored and portioned. Though we ordered pasta on the side for the chicken parm, given the size of the dish it wasn't necessary. For apps we ordered bruschetta and arancini. My boyfriend and I walked into Posto on a Saturday and were able to be seated immediately. We ordered the short rib pasta and the Prosciutto pizza. The place is nicely decorated and pretty decent sized. The food came out in a reasonable manner. I found both dishes quite tasty. The gnocchi were soft while the braised beef was tender. The portions were also quite reasonable. The pizza had a decent amount of arugula and prosciutto scattered. My boyfriend found the prosciutto a bit dry, but it tasted fine to me overall. The pizza dough itself was quite enjoyable. Per the waiter's recommendation, we ended up ordering the tiramisu. Instead of cocoa powder, it had shaved chocolate pieces on top which made the dessert taste richer. I wish the coffee aspect was a bit stronger as there was too much cream, but I still enjoyed it overall. The portion was pretty big, and I ended up finishing it mostly myself since my partner is not a huge fan of tiramisu. Overall, the meal was pretty satisfying and left me quite full. The new Posto location in Assembly is large and nicely designed. The service was great and dishes came out quickly. The short rib gnocchi pasta and bruschetta was delicious. The bread with the bruschetta was lightly toasted while still being soft so it didn't cut up your mouth, and the goat cheese is a nice touch. While the new Assembly space is more "commercial", it's nice that this space allows for more dining availability and a very efficient pizza oven area separate from the main kitchen. read more

This spot hits every time! I always take advantage of their Happy Hour menu because you get an appetizer, pizza, and dessert for less than $20 a person. I never had a problem with being seated, but I would usually get there right when it opens. I have tried many different items on their menu and it's so yummy each time. Finally tried Posto yesterday. Pizzas are great - we tried the eggplant with caramelized onion and basil - eggplant was breaded and crispy and the other flavors came through nicely, crust crunchy with a nice char, yet soft inside and light. The white mushroom pizza was also very good, but my husband was very disappointed with the gnocchi with short rib - said the gnocchi had an odd texture and the dish was 'weird.' Desserts were OK - amarena cherry gelato was good but had some ice crystals, panna cotta was more custardy than creamy and our friend said the filling in the mini cannoli was a bit grainy. read more

Oh Posto, you never seem to disappoint... which is GOOD, because we live a block away ;) I often smell the wood-burning oven and other delectable smells that waft from the kitchen as I walk the dog around the neighborhood. What started as a food truck that served wood-fired pizza has become a full-service restaurant on the edge of Davis Square. They serve up all sorts of Italian flavors ranging from the northern cuisine that often features dairy and cream-based dishes to the south that features seafood, olives, and of course... the vibrant red sauces that most Americans have grown to know and love. The menu is not HUGE... this isn't your local Italian place that has a menu longer than the average children's book, no... it's a finely curated and targeted menu to give patrons not only options, but a wide array of options in a minimal number of dishes. I have not had a dish here that hasn't been worthy of ordering or the price, and we have tried over 75% of the menu at this point. Some of the highlights and our favorites: - Eggplant pizza (thin sliced and fried... VERY unique but delicious) - Short Rib Gnocchi (it's rich, delicious, and the gnocchi are like little pillows of mouth-gasm) - Warm, marinated olives - Garlic/Rosemary fired bread - Burrata salad w/ prosciutto and stone fruit It's a very inviting space, with low lighting and dark wood accenting the other decor. The service has always been friendly, prompt, and attentive. They do a great job making sure you are taken care of and there's not too much time between them checking back on the tables. Overall, we love this establishment and think it's a good value for what you get. I've seen a few complaints about the price increases over the years, but it's aligned with the area if not a bit cheaper (depending on where you are eating... Domino's need not apply for my business). I can't poke any holes in their menu or establishment. If you are in Davis Square and looking for a good Italian place to eat, you're in good hands at Posto, and the servers are more than happy to let you know what their favorite dishes are and what the rotating specials are for the evening. read more

I went on a random weekday so it wasn't too crowded. The service was good and the pizza was great. Neapolitan style pizza is one of my favs. I got the eggplant pizza and it was delicious. The only nitpicky thing was that there was a little burnt bubble on my pizza and my raspberry spritz was a little too sweet. Came here for some pre-Marathon carbs and it was a great meal! My partner and I ordered their Spring Salad, a mushroom & truffle pasta and a meat lovers pizza. Everything was delicious but our favorite was the pasta. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce wasn't overly rich - it was just right. We were excited to try Posto because the Instagram site has amazing photos of their pizza. Sadly, the reality didn't quite match up to the appeal of the photos. We had two pizzas, margherita and eggplant. Both were fine but not great (the eggplant was the weaker of the two). Too droopy and just not the quality we were looking and hoping for. Also: the fact that there's salmon in a Tuscan Fish Stew is just wrong... The service was friendly and quick. The interior of the space is nice, but it's very generic -- could have been really any restaurant in a strip mall. read more

Was there on a Saturday night the weekend before Christmas and it wasn't busy but we did make a reservation prior and was seated on the bar side. The service was good and quick and the restaurant is nice and seems like a good chill spot. So we ordered the pepperoni pizza ( I know basic) lol and carbonara and 2 drinks each with a dessert at the end and the pizza was good but nothing special, I feel like The Source in Cambridge had better pepperoni pizza . Their carbonara tho, lacked sooo much flavor and it was soupy instead of creamy thick texture. I would skip on that. Not sure if it was an off day but I'm expecting a thick consistency not a soupy dish that lacked flavor. Their drinks were pretty good and strong which I like and we ended the night with tiramisu which was pretty decent. Overall experience I would go back if I want to meet my friends for a drink but I would skip out on the pasta and just stick to pizza. read more

NOT CLOSED! GREAT PIZZA! My coworkers and I ate here on a week night. The place was very busy and was loud, but we were seated immediately. We had a great server here. Our pizzas took about 10-15 minutes and came out delicious! We loved the wood fire pizzas! The sausage definitely has a kick to it, but was perfectly cooked. The meatballs were an excellent starter, as well were the calamari! We highly enjoyed this restaurant! Definitely stop by for some great pizza and drinks after some shopping! read more

There are also donburi and sushi options as well. There is limited street parking, mostly residential. I recommend ordering online for pickup and head out to a picnic area instead of dining in. The restaurant has stool seating by the window only. The staff greets you immediately upon entering and is super friendly. I ordered a variety of sandos to try. My favorite was the Kokoro Sando, which has an omelet layered with ham, bacon and cheese. My next favorite was the Premium Katsu Sando(Pork) sandwich. Although I added some Japanese mayo to bring everything together. My next favorite would be the framing egg shokupan. I also ordered the chicken katsu sandos and karaage waffle. Those are chicken options. The fruit shokupan is a must try. I came to try that and ended up with six sandwiches. For sushi, I ordered the sushi balls, Kokoro Tamari Treats which came with three pieces sushi ball with a refreshing sweet japanese mayo dressing. I also ordered the Kokoro Bento Sushi Box which had three slices of sashimi, four piece nigiri, and a salmon maki roll and came with seaweed salad and dashi soup. The quality is excellent and this makes for a great lunch set. I recommend the Iced Uji Matcha Latte for drinks if you love matcha lattes. I highly recommend this cafe. I see myself coming back to try the other menu items as I did not get to try the ramen, donburi, and onigiri. So glad to have them so close by. The online ordering is so convenient and you're notified when your order is ready in case you have to sit in the car and wait if there is no street parking. See my pictures!

We settled into the bar seating, which gives the space an intimate, counter style atmosphere, and a hand painted mural on the wall added a personal touch that sets it apart from spots that rely on imported aesthetics. The staff was warm and engaged in a way that made the whole experience feel more like a neighborhood place than a new opening still finding its footing. The kaisen don is the dish that earns the most attention and rightfully so. We ordered it and found the fish fresh, the portions generous, and the rice cooked well enough that it held its own rather than just serving as a base. Presentation across the menu is careful and deliberate, and the kaisen don in particular reflected that. The katsu sando is another strong order, with the pork katsu hitting the right balance of crispy exterior and tender meat tucked into soft bread in a way that makes it a satisfying and complete bite. We finished with the fruit sando, light and refreshing with fresh fruit and cream that did not overstay its welcome. The matcha latte is fine but leans on the milkier side, which softens the matcha flavor more than it should. It is not a bad drink, but if you are someone who wants that grassy, slightly bitter edge to come through, it falls a little short of that mark. Pricing runs on the higher end for the format, which was our main hesitation. The quality is there to justify most of it, particularly on the don and sando side of the menu, but it is worth going in with calibrated expectations on cost. For a newer spot still building its name, Kokoro is doing a lot right. We would come back for the kaisen don and the warmth of the room, and we would skip the matcha latte in favor of something else.

My BF and I visited Posto Friday night and the experience was definetely not a memorable or positive one. The food is very good, prices aren't a bargain but considering the ingredients they're using, quality and presentation we found it fair and very tasty! Decor is elegant and modern, the open windows are a nice touch. The place is clean, organized, great light and use of colors. Sadly, the positives end here. Service was a DISASTER! I totally echo another Yelper's comment on some people getting preferential treatment! We got there and of course it being Friday night totally expected to wait for a table and were ok with it. We stood by the hostess stand and said we would be ok with taking a seat at the bar or whatever opened up first..the hostess said they don't take reservations and it was "first come first serve" but that she knew we were there and would be next to be sat. Then a guy, who we assume was the maitre D/Manager came by, pulled the hostess aside and like 5mins later a couple walked in who like the other Yelper said "knew people" here, he went to greet them and walked them over to what could of been our table (by this time we had been waiting around 20 mins or so) so fine, we figured maybe they had called ahead, etc, still, we asked her if they had "reservations" or if we should have called ahead, etc, she said again they don't take reservations. We asked her how much longer it would be and to please ask the manager/maitre d how long it would be and if we could have the next table. She went over to him towards the end of the bar and we basically saw him brush her off and seemed borderline annoyed at us having asked! Eventually we got a table (now 45mins wait time) and not one "we're sorry" or sending us anything as a comp or even a visit from the manager or hostess. We had read the wine list (several times during our 45 min wait time) and asked our server a few questions about some of the wines...yeah, we don't think she had any idea what she was talking about. We're both into wine and aren't expecting everyone to be an expert, but if you call yourself a "wine bar" shouldn't your staff know some basic things about the different grapes, areas, etc? Serious amateur hour. We then asked if someone had tasted a particular French red or if the maitre d/manager guy could come over and provide us with a description/help. She went up to the host stand and again, we watched as he brushed off yet another staff member and actually seemed to get upset with our server! Help never really came back and our server asked if we wanted to order this wine or something else...we then gave up, ordered a Italian red to go with pizza we ordered and called it a night... I'm not huge on reviewing new places, well, because they are new and like everything in life it take some time to get the hang of it. Sadly this isn't the case here. Giving preferential treatment to some guests over others, being dismissive ignoring guests' complaints, having poorly trained staff in something which is printed on your sign outside (wine) just isn't something time will take care off. It just feels more like them not really caring... Clearly the kitchen has it figured out as the pizza was very good and overall it seems other Yelpers echo this, however the complete lack of hospitality and dismissive manner with which management treats "non vip" guests like us is not something time or experience related. Seriously if we wanted attitude or to be ignored we might as well travel to Paris! : ) Also, training staff on food AND WINE is important if again you're trying to attract young professionals or those of us who love the grape! Sadly no one seemed to care that we had a bad experience. The hostess just said "thank you for coming in" and glanced back down at the paper on her stand, the manager was nowhere to be seen and our server dropped off the check and didn't even ask if we wanted dessert! She just dropped of the check without really asking how everything went, said "thank you" and walked away... After the wait time, the problem with the wine and seeing that clearly we were having a bad service night this just doesn't seem like the right attitude to have. It seems like they were more concerned with turning tables then guests leaving happy or coming back. Yes, it was a busy Friday night but again, we did see that couple who got our table get alot of attention, visits from manager and I'm sure they had a totally different experience (they were actually still sitting there when we left) We will not be coming back and wanted to share our experience so that other Yelpers don't have to go through what we did. read more

We ate here last night with a good friend - the verdict was "A-Okay". Some might find that to be harsh, so let's defer to the price-to-quality ratio as a measure of goodness. We paid through the nose, around $30 a head for a drink, app and entree (tip included), like you would in Gargoyles, and got a fine meal. The mediocre food couldn't be offset by the intense hype factor, excessive wait for a table, abundance of Mac-user fashionisti, or other cool-esque intangibles. I gotta say that this is the best business that the location's housed, IMO. It's got character and as much class as a Prada mail-order catalogue. They must have sunk a trust-fund into the stylings. Il Posto gets major points for having a bar, open walls for seeing and being seen, attentive staff in black shirts, a handful of big food-prep guys with shaved heads, and solid wine list. There was even an illuminated glass cabinet behind the bar, a price-tiered multi-level monument to red wine. Mesmerized, I caught myself wondering, "will I ever afford that bottle sitting on the highest of the pedestals? Will I forever buy the bronze of red wines?" Ah, the age-old pursuit of cool...playing overly-loud "Odelay" sealed that for me. We'd "arrived", that much was clear, but all we really wanted was a fricken' pizza... Points can be taken off for how the extensive wine list was overpriced and the beer was under-poured; it seemed like they were working these slim profit margins to compete for the Gargoyle's wine crowd on gloss alone. If you have to hit a per-table minimum profit, pizza places usually rely on better quality food and high table turnover. This place relies on neither - the overpriced food can't carry an overpriced wine list. I'm guessing that's the strategy - they even have glasses pre-set on the table, like an MBA-101 ploy to seed the suggestion of wine consumption. The correct Italian in the menu shows that someone at least went to Italy (a semester abroad?) and brought back a menu. At least that should hook the Boston Magazine readers into a visit. And then the food...let's get to that... You've heard this before - the same hackneyed themes in all reviews of the American's irreverence with Italian recipes. The preparation was typically-American: a heavy-handed, overstuffed application of whatever flavors the traditional, more subtle recipes contain. I'll come clean that I am an American and I know that you have to win the crowd. Someone's gonna feel cheated if a $16 pizza didn't have a cheese 2 or more words in it's name, or didn't bury this delicacy under 3/4 of a pound of imported prosciutto. The crust was not buttery or sugary and the wood-firing made it tasty. The piled arugula seemed like a salad on top. Not very authentic - maybe that's irrelevant? A pizza by any other name is still a pizza. My wife's from the deep south of Italy and was delighted to see a pasta dish with rabbit. This is very traditional. The romantic description was defiled when the server delivered overcooked pasta swimming in a bombastic cream sauce, punctuated with chicken. We've both eaten enough rabbit to recognize when someone's abusing the phrase "it tastes like chicken". We didn't mention that strong misgiving to each other until we were halfway home and had independently chuckled about paying $20 for a poorly-executed plate of pasta with misnamed overcooked, fibrous breast meat of a chicken... They could have told us that they ran out of the rabbit instead of serving...that - this would have maintained their integrity and kept up the authenticating ruse of ever serving "rabbit". So, in sum, this restaurant lives up to it's name ("The Place") only in that it's a destination full of people who all collude in the agreement that they've simultaneously discovered the new cool place that justifies the rent they pay. I thought that Diva lounge was before it's time...this place absolutely cements the point. So, if being on the edge of cool is your thing, I recommend going to "Il Posto", being seen, feeling all hip, and then eating elsewhere else that foodies will discover for you. read more

As a new member to Yelp (yes, yes, I know, took me like 5yrs to get with the Yelper crowd and program...) I love what this site is able to do, allow transparent, honest, fellow peer reviews on the network. Not being a "pay for play" site is Yelp's best attribute, let's keep it this way. Now to my first review, which sadly isn't a positive one. I too thought the "new place" in Davis offering Pizza and calling themselves a "wine bar" would be a heaven-sent to our area...I thought someone would take food seriously, service seriously, wine seriously, but I was wrong... First of let me start by completely agreeing with fellow Yelpers on here when it comes to "management" or miss-management of this place! IF YOU'RE THE OWNER OF POSTO AND READ THIS, PLEASE FIRE THE "MANAGER" GUY, he is killing your place! If the manager guy is the owner, shame on you for acting the way you do during service and for interacting with guests with the arrogance, lack of hospitality and lack of care you do! I totally echo the "it depends" comment and other comments posted on here about the attitude, dismissive demeanor, lack of care, lack of hospitality this guy displays. I've been there 2x, once during a busy weekend night and once during the week, and busy or not, the attitude was the same. The examples of bad hospitality and management: "Vip's" got tables within 15mins of walking in (busy or not), people like us were told 20mins wait and waited 1hr, no free drink, no checking in from management, no amuse bouche or courtesy food to make up for it. Servers were either running around, too busy to refill water glasses or pick up empty plates, or just standing in corner talking. Seems like the answer to most wine questions is "umm, I'm not sure about that, let me find out.." which isn't bad if this were say a large place offering mainly large entrees with SOME wine, but come on, it's a "wine bar"! Poor training and lack of education on main product you're selling! When our server went to ask a question about a wine on the list I watched as she brushed off by this guy and came back saying the wine was "good and dry" Instead of coming over and helping the servers this guy just seems to comp food and wine (this happened to us on an appetizer which took 30mins to come out) he is loosing them money! Now to the other area: wine The wine list is ridiculously over priced! To any of us working in the wine industry it's obvious what the beverage manager/manager is doing. 80% of the wines here are close-out deals! The stuff distributors can't sell and need to push out, and do so at like 50% discount, which POSTO is then marking up 150%! No one is expecting a business to not make $, but come on! Why not pass the some of the savings on to customers! Also, wines weren't interesting of "hand selected" as one staff member said. They're pulled out of Parker reviews and Wine Spectator scores! Sure, I can open a magazine or review page and "pick out" a killer wine list too, oh wait, and get it at a discount and then mark it up to a ridiculous level. It really saddens me that this is the concept of a "wine bar". Not one flight offered? No small producer wines on the list? No wine training for your staff? Putting opened bottles in the wine machine which I also got "well, if they don't sell and are open for a while we can put them in there (signaling wine machine behind bar" from one of the bar staff. This place is mediocre at best, sure, the Pizza may be good on some occasions (in all honesty our was so can't say anything bad in that sense on this review) but the wine program (or lack thereof) staff training on wine, and most important, the REALLY BAD MANAGEMENT will drive more and more people away after the first time. We WILL NOT be coming back, and I apologize for using capitals and borderline yelling, but we were outraged being in the wine business to see what this guy is doing to such a promising concept and place. read more

We've been to Posto twice now and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. I am mystified about why some people posting on here have had issues with the service, because I have found all the staff friendly, helpful, and observant without being overbearing, which is just what I want in a server. We did have to wait for a table both times, but on the second visit after being told we'd have a very long wait (well over an hour) we took our chances at the bar and after some judicious hovering near two people who were finishing got seats in about 15 mins, so that worked out fine. In any case, it's a popular place, so unless you go very early or very late you need to be prepared to wait. On our first visit, we had the arugula and fava salads to start (the second kindly without olives to suit my taste!), which were both fresh and very tasty. For the main course we had the pomodoro and sopressata pizzas, which both turned out very well too - I thought the crust was great and I like a pizza with a bit of kick to it so the sopressata suited me very well. Teamed with these we had glasses of Sauvignon Blanc (pretty nice), Grenache (so-so), and then a half-carafe of Sangiovese (went well with the pizzas). On the second visit we shared the meatball appetizer which was simply wonderful (disappeared very quickly!), and then had a roast pork pizza (with the egg omitted), very tasty as last time, and the daily special, which was a baked fish (it had a fancy Italian name but I can't remember it) that was just divine, I loved it - perfectly cooked, soft, and with great flavor. We chatted with our server about it a bit, including how the fish had been flown in from Europe, and she said she thought that at most restaurants it would have cost $10-15 more (it cost $21). It would have been well worth it. For dessert we shared a piece of tiramisu (apparently made by the owner the day before!), and enjoyed that too. Our wines for this evening were 2 glasses of Lambrusco while we were hovering at the bar, and then we shared a half carafe of Vermentino, as recommended to go with the fish (and note that even though this is not listed as being available by the glass/half carafe we were offered a taste spontaneously and had no trouble getting a half carafe). This was probably my favorite of the wines we have tried so far - light, delicate and definitely a good complement for the fish (did I mention that the fish was really good??). I personally find the wine list interesting and very reasonably priced. There aren't many places where you can get this range of wine, and these types of wines, by the glass, and it's also not usual to have prices in a wine bar start at $4 a glass. I think the food prices are very reasonable too, considering the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into the food preparation (and the tastiness of the results!). The ambiance is great - it feels intimate without being crowded, and it's impossible for a place that is consistently full not to have a fair bit of background noise. The décor is tasteful too, a huge improvement over previous efforts in this space, and the bar is particularly cool. We will definitely be going back! read more

Headed down to Posto during opening weekend, at first glance the space is beautiful, great use of the large windows, elegant and cool looking bar, soft lighting, etc...sadly, the "wow" factor ends here. The hostess was cordial, the waitstaff and bar staff were also helpful, though somewhat nervous, almost felt like they were being monitored or watched, making the ease of service and hospitality feel rather contrived instead of free and relaxed. The wine list IS NOT VALUE PRICED, not i in the least bit, wines are pulled from Winespectators' 90pts rankings rather then being hand selected, with big names being marked up north of 150% (even on wines currently on close out from major MA distributors) I mean we all expect to pay restaurant prices for stuff, but come on, when a closeout wine is listed everywhere at a 30% discount and you're marking it up 3x, this is almost insulting to those of us in the wine industry... Wines are kept in a wine dispenser and as I was informed by bar staff "anything we open for a 1/2 bottle and don't sell goes in the machine" making one wonder how those "tastes" or by the glass pours coming from the wine pouring machine will taste after a day or two. It may run on Argon or preserve the wine for some time, but wines in the machine were not your average $10glass wines...caveat emptor... Staff was somewhat informed on wine but far from knowledgeable, when we asked about a particular Italian red we couldn't get an answer and our server went to ask the guy who seemed to be the maitre d/manager. He was dismissive at best and frankly arrogant. In addition, he borderline scolded/humiliated our server for not knowing the answer! Bad, bad,bad! How your treat your staff reflects on the rest of service and true hospitality goes for your staff and customers. Perhaps it was the fact that we didn't order a $60+bottle or weren't asking about a Burgundy or Premier Cru, but hey, oenophiles on a budget deserve attention too no!? For a place calling themselves a "wine bar" there isn't a single flight on the menu, the "1/2 bottle" option is a carafe holding somewhat less then 375 ml and charging about half the cost of a full bottle, honestly people, we're not dumb and can do the math. Food was good, down to earth, lacking a bit in presentation but can't say anything negative, but then again, can't say anything beyond, good...oh yeah, being charged for bread...really? I mean, it's dough...how much can the house loose on making it for free! It was opening weekend, so we did take this into consideration, but honestly the flaws pointed our were not service issues/food being late/cold, etc which could happen during the fist couple of days a place is open and it's still finding it's footing. In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Last night, I experienced something new, an extra-ordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Juan's famous motto: 'Anyone can cook.' But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Posto, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef in Somerville. This was a pretty fun experience, the food was all very enjoyable, the cocktails were nice. I liked every aspect of the restaurant--from table arrangement, to service, to food quality--but I don't actually think it's worth the high price they charge. In Davis Sq, there are just way too many other options for amazing food, and since there really isn't anything exceptional about the quality or the ambiance of Posto, I don't foresee returning. One of the very few expenditures I don't mind making is paying to eat good food at a unique restaurant-- I wouldn't mind the occasional high tab if it meant I had a really great eating experience. Posto wasn't anything special, though--the prices are special; the quality (of food, of ambiance, of drinks, of service) is not. (If you're really craving Italian flatbread, you'd be better off at Magoun Saloon- an Irish pub in Magoon Sq. If you're in the mood to pay the higher price of really exceptional food, then try the Painted Burro just around the corner. The point is, Posto is nice food, but you pay for the curb appeal.) read more

I finally made it to Posto's and believe me the pizza here is the best I have had outside of Naples. If you haven't had pizza backed in the traditional pizza oven, you are in for a treat! My friends and I shared a number of the other dishes as well, and I just wanted to call out the cocktails and the desserts as also being far and away some of the best I have had. The downside is that I think the prices are really high given the very small size of the portions. My 90 pound anorexic friend was pleased with the $16 salad that looked like a pattern on the plate and suggested we split it, but my triathlete boyfriend was pissed and vowed never to return. Seriously guys, your food is wonderful, but I really feel that for this kind of money, especially in this economy, there should be a decent-sized portion. The ingredients can't be that expensive! Posto has been one of my favorite spots since moving to Boston. I've always loved the food and cozy atmosphere. However, my last visit left me disappointed. I had made a reservation for four through Resy, but upon arrival, I was informed it was only booked for two. Rather than trying to resolve the issue or explore what might have gone wrong, I was told I'd need to wait an hour or leave. Given Posto's reputation and my previous experiences, I expected a more accommodating and understanding approach, especially at their new location. While I still have great respect for the restaurant and its team, this experience has left me hesitant about returning. I went to Posto for the first time last Thursday and went back there yesterday Saturday. I really liked sitting at the bar. The male bartender with no hair is particularly on the ball. He is just perfect. The yound lady bartender "Christina" is nice too. The wine dispenser is so modern with the temprature control and everything. The Margherita pizza with bufalla di mozzarella was really authentic. The chefs are from Italy so no wonder. Overall, I liked this place. I will definitely come back for more wine and pizza. Pizza and beverages are excellent here. There were some intriguing dishes on the menu, as well as some intriguing pasta. As an appetizer, we had arancini, which was delicious. The beer, food, and cocktail menus are all excellent, and the wine list is comprehensive. This place is fantastic. The wait times are long sometimes, but you can either see that as a good thing or a bad thing. When I see a place like this as busy as it is I see it as a good thing. Food is phenomenal and the service is great. They also had my favorite Orin Swift wine on the menu. So great to see a place like this north of Boston. Our favorite local restaurant. We used to be regulars, but now we have a baby and don't get a date night as often as possible :( However, when we do get a night out this is where we go. This is a bustling place that serves delicious pizza and desserts! The meat lover's pizza was my favorite flavor here. It could have been crispier on the bottom and would benefit from a bit more sauce since they have excellent quality sauce. It's somewhat on the pricier side, but that's alright. read more

Posto is very good. Our salads and pasta dishes were fine, the pizza a bit weak. Service was excellent, even charming. The room is attractive and was full on a Sunday night. It's a very fine neighborhood restaurant, but, considering the difficulty parking nearby, not a "destination." read more

Loved the intimate vibe of the restaurant! And I don't know if I was just super hungry but the bread sticks that they initially gave were yummy! But....for the main dish, I ordered the popular carbonara pasta but it was too salty for me and didn't have a lot of flavor. read more
