I've been to Pop's multiple times with my family and after several bad experiences in a row we just decided never to go back. Time after time we would get to our table and start to eat our food and it was either luke warm or cold. On top of that the tables are ALWAYS dirty and nasty as they never clean them off. This happened to us on multiple visits so what I cannot wrap my head around are all the reviews giving this place 4 and 5 stars! The bottom line is that this place is absolutely disgusting and we'll never return there. I am happy for all the people who just love this place more than life itself but it's got to be that they just don't know any better and have no standards whatsoever. Memories! My family moved here from Houston when I was thirteen. I'm 38 now. The food here is consistently good, and considered comfort food for us then, and now. We have a business in town close by, and sometimes it's either Pops or something else. The place isn't big or fancy, but it swells in personality and consistency. Give Doug, the owner, a shoutout bikers. You will see him there along with his sons, and wonderful team of people making good food everyday. It's a relaxing, but fast paced atmosphere. You're not going to be rushed for your order, but the lines of people that shows up says otherwise. They could make a killing being bigger, but they're perfect the way they are. When I don't want to cook, I come here. Which is often. It's good comfort food for locals. I get disappointed in the turnover with employees because a few of the workers do not have any patience for those that maybe indecisive on the fish or chicken. Pops food is really good I try to come in as often as I can but I slowed down because the CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL!!!!!!!!! It's not by all employees but believe me it's mainly by girls...... I guess a mother and daughter worked there or aunt and niece idk but you can tell they have known each other for a while. But the reason they suck is they will put your money/card on the counter when they can see clearly your hand is out and after you have put the payment in their hand. They act like you're none existent or you burden them to order food. Next time I'll try to get names so you can stay away from those girls. A few times I have been at POP'S I noticed a Hispanic woman wearing a hand brace while serving food. I am no ROCKET EXPERT,BUT I AM SURE there is no way to do the proper hygiene wearing one of these. Pop's is exactly what I'm looking for when it comes to good food with good prices! I'm from Michigan with a lot of family in the area of Crandall and Seagoville. Well, we come down at least twice a year for a week at a time and we can't ever leave Texas without stopping at least twice each trip to Pop's. The Chicken Fried Steak is some of the best I've had. Usually we get great food at really cheap prices! However the last couple of times the chicken seemed really salty, maybe the cook had been brining it to long! And now the vegetables are unsalted and bland. We will go back but only because they have great prices and hope to get chicken again that's not quite as salty! read more
