I really was hoping to enjoy this restaurant but unfortunately it was eh. Pancakes were flavorless that even the kids didn't like it and they eat anything pancakes. Lol An order of pancakes was missing from the kids menu. Poached eggs had no running yolk but was drenched in hollandaise sauce. The Denver omelette was pretty decent but the muffin that came with it was stale. Although they were trying to clear our plates asap because it was going to be near closing time. We were not the only ones. Many tables were filled. I saw Pop's Cafe on an episode of Burrous Bites, Channel 5 News with Chris Burrous. Located in the Rives Square, which is a long line of storefront businesses, plenty of parking, the interior is of an older looking cafe, clean not rundown just has the look like it's been here a while. This is a welcoming neighborhood breakfast joint. It was Sunday morning, my first time here there were 4 parties ahead of us and we waited less than 15 mins. While waiting outside I noticed this place is full of regulars when waiters and customers were acknowledging each other. I ordered the steak, eggs, hash-brown, and a side of toast. I don't know if it's because they are switching owners and maybe there's been some changes; but, the eggs Benedict were not very good at all this time. There service is horrible went to pick up one day and the lady at the cashier asked me for the pick up order name and instead of handing my order walks away and takes a table order and getting coffee for other people when my food has been sitting there I was a little annoyed and confused but not a big deal . I try ordering on a different day whoever answered the phone I guess doesn't know the menu because I order the pops breakfast which I have done more than once before. The person on the phone is saying there's no potatoes on the dish I gave the benefit of the doubt and I looked up there menu and obviously there was potatoes on the dish so called bck to clarify and the person on the phone argues that there's no potatoes doesn't allow me to explain what am seeing on the there menu. So our regular breakfast spot just closes way too early. So I went back to Yelp to find the next best thing and came across Pop's Cafe. Got there to the location and saw a crowd of people outside and just knew it was going to take 45min-1 hour wait. So I called the phone number asked the person how long is the wait and she said 15-20 minutes so we got out the car and put our name on the waiting list and set a timer on the phone for 20 minutes. Kid you not alarm went off a minute later they called us. Went inside ordered the French toast waitress recommended the grilled fried version as well as the regular which I concurred to. My girl had the eggs Benedict. Her food came first and it looked pretty good. Then my food came and it was over. Very delicious this is definitely going to be my new place. How many times have I rolled up to Pop's Cafe, saw the line waiting outside, then kept on driving? Twice. I guess it took a rainy day like today (1/11/15) to make the third time the charm. With our baby girls in tow, my husband and I came here for some brunch before a lazy day of NFL divisional playoffs. It was about 11 a.m. when we arrived & there were several groups waiting. If you see people waiting, don't be completely deterred. Just go inside & look at the list towards the back (near the register). You can see how many groups will be ahead of you & roughly how long the wait will be. This is especially so on weekends when it's the most busy. Write your name & how many are in your party yourself. There were 4 small groups ahead of us & we waited no longer than 15 minutes. Kid's menus are available, but if you have a baby with you just know they don't have a changing station in the women's restroom. Our 18-month-old enjoyed a side order of scrambled eggs. She nibbled on our food as well. The hubs and I really like cream sausage gravy... They have it! And it is really good comfort food with nice Southern-style biscuits. I pretty much devoured the "Pop's country breakfast." It's a biscuits and gravy dish with your choice of hashbrowns or Irish potatoes and an egg your way. The biscuits & gravy comes with extra protein, a sausage patty. The service was a bit slow at first getting menus to us, but after that it was fine. Real nice waitress. The other lady who kept my coffee mug filled was nice as well. The coffee is typical for a diner. Hot & fresh, though! I prefer black coffee, but they'll quickly bring you cream if you request it. Tapatío & red Tabasco sauce are provided at each table. It gets kind of loud inside with all the chatter. No music. Nothing fancy. Kind of drab, in fact. But... The restroom was mostly clean. (Just needs a quick makeover.) And it's good comfort diner food at an affordable price for the entire family in a decent area of Downey. Good for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Closed on Mondays. Located on Florence in a strip mall. Next to a barber shop. Somewhat easy to miss. The parking lot may look packed, but you can usually find a spot fairly close by. Went to this place for breakfast on Sunday 10/09/2022 I worte my name on the list had the young man came out started to call people and skipped me about 3 times til I went to him and told him my name is on the front list he smirked at me and giggled has he found it funny that he was skipping me. My family and I finally got a table then comes a young girl to take our order I seen on the menu you guys have Cinnamon so she comes takes out order I ask her if there is any cinnamon rolls her and another lady who worked there looked at each other and said YES we have some I said ok can you add me one to my order drinks come out 20 mins later food comes out still waiting for my cinnamon roll I asked for a refill on my coffee lady said let me go get the decaf never came back the young girl comes to see if we need anything we say no it's ok I then asked for my refill on my coffee another 15mins passes then she comes and spills coffee on the table I'm just like great what kinda service is this so I then asked for my cinnamon roll and the young girl says oh we don't have any.
