The times I have been to pop's cafe before today were great- lovely service, food comes out super quick. Today I noticed a Trump 2024 sticker on the inside of the employee door on my way to the bathroom. As I was walking out, I said to an older man with white hair who works there that it should be removed. He did not take this well at all. In fact, he got so upset with me that he felt entitled to knock my hat off my head in the parking lot. After telling him I won't come back here in response to his "what are you gonna do?!", I get in my car and he goes on to kick the grill of my car. Everyone has a right to their views. No one deserves to be intimidated or have their property mistreated because of some words. This is not the first review for pop's cafe that talks about management's hostile attitude towards customers and even staff. I am looking forward to taking my business elsewhere in Downey. read more

After I had my appointment I was looking for a breakfast place on Yelp and figured hmm let's try it out , normally place that stays open until 2:30pm for breakfast or brunch only is really good, as as we walked in we can pick any seat , service was fast and the food was soo good . I got the chicken fried steak and eggs , my husband had the New York steak and eggs with the hash browns. The chicken fried steak was really tender mostly I have it at other places and it's dry . Would definitely recommend coming here also has their pancakes but forgot the photo lol I did see another review about the cups how they looked all chipped around the top , I have mixed feeling about this .. yes they are a bit banged up but what do you expect it's a small hole in the wall place , or eventually replace them and just not be so harsh on the cups or a different brand . Over rated spot not worth it place needs new servers, host food just seemed bland like people say its just hype

Came here for brunch on Sunday and it was a letdown. Our server seemed like she didn't want to be there or serve us. The food took forever to come out, and we were stuck sitting outside in the heat. On top of that, eating outside here isn't the best. People are constantly walking by since it's in a public walkway for the strip mall, and a homeless woman even came up and started grabbing the jellies off the table next to us while leaving a nasty stench in the air while we're sitting there trying to enjoy our meals. If you guys can't secure the outdoor seating I'd suggest you only using the inside dining room. And then to end the already bad experience our server dropped off the check and walked away, then another employee came up, slid it in front of my friend, and just stood there staring until he pulled out his card. Place definitely rubbed us all the wrong way and we won't be returning. Not sure how they have good reviews. read more

Customer service was terrible. The waitress didn't bring our utensils until we had to ask for them. The customers next to us even said "they haven't brought you the utensils". Brought our check when we were still eating. Literally that's what made me the most upset and not enjoy this place at all. We found Pops Cafe because we had to be in Downey. Yelp had very good review and two "$" signs. So we tried it. It's hidden in a strip mall and when we walked in, we took the last of their two-tops. We both ordered breakfast and we were both very pleased. The service was great and we found a real nugget in Pops. The only complaint on this Sunday morning was that it was so loud and crowded. The service is fantastic, servers will always come around to ask if you need something and your food comes out quick.
