As a vegetarian, I almost always go for the roasted veggie with yellow curry, it's my go-to savory option. We ordered two and shared them between the four of us, but I barely got much since I'm a slow eater and everyone else finished it so fast We also tried the guava cream cheese, which was great. I'm not big on sweets, but this one was perfect to share because it's definitely too much for me to finish on my own unless I took it to go. The whole area is really nice too, it's a shared open space with Roosevelt Roasters, Stella, and a brewery, with lots of tables under the trees. There's a great mix of sun and shade, and it's very family-friendly, which makes the vibe even better. We were about the order the mashed potato side but the server warned us that it contains meat which we truly appreciated :)

Arriving right before closing, I was looking for a light dinner to satisfy my hunger. When searching on Yelp, up popped Pop Pie!!! Perfect!!! My brain popped up a sensory memory recalling visiting the Normal Heights (?) location having tried the Steak 'N Ale Pie and then my mouth started to water. Drove a little faster and trusted my Maps for the Fastest Direction possible. Sure enough, with 16 minutes to closing, we immediately pulled into the parking lot and there popped up in my view was Pop Pie!!! Entering into the bright and warm room, I was greeted by a kind young lady, dressed warmly with a warm smile and the buttery aroma of pies baking (or being kept warm) that entered into my olfactory senses. My eyes glanced into the warming case to see that there was a limited amount of pies available. I chose the classic chicken pie and the guava cream cheese hand pie (recommended by the helpful pie person) and I decided to bring my treasures back to my hotel to enjoy!!! When I got back to the hotel, the classic chicken pie was still hot. Using my surgical skills, I gingerly cut open and removed the flaky and buttery pie crust to reveal the piping hot goodness inside. The gravy was well seasoned as well as the generous cuts of chicken. The crust was perfectly baked. The Pop Pie People have perfected the savory pie recipe!!! The guava cream cheese hand pie was also delicious. The cream cheese to guava filling was perfect, making the hand pie perfectly sweet. The quaint village mall, perfectly designed with the Carlsbad flair, is where the Pop Pie resides with other eating establishments as well. There's a nice outdoor courtyard with tables and chairs where you can enjoy your meal. Must be pet friendly because there was a sign kindly asking that dogs not to water the plant boxes. At night, patio lights softly illuminates the courtyard creating a romantic atmosphere for friends and families to enjoy. Another memorable meal from the Pop Pie People!!!

Tasty Classic Chicken Pot Pie

I really like this little place! It's one of the restaurants located in an outdoor food court with tables in the middle of a small courtyard. Pop Pie's is essentially a shack. Walk in, place your order, and within a few minutes, your pies and sides are ready. Take them to go, or dine in the courtyard. I did both. I've already been here twice and ordered: Classic Chicken Pie $12.50 Chicken breast/thigh meat, vegetables, pearl onions, creamy herb sauce, in a all-butter crust. Steak & Ale Pie $13 A British style pie made of slow-braised beef, barley, mushrooms, carrots, dark ale gravy, all in a all-butter crust. Mashed Potatoes & Gravy Side $4 Skin-on red potatoes, crema, cracked black pepper, sea salt, chicken gravy. Mushroom & Leek Quiche $8.50 Roasted oyster mushrooms, citrus leeks, sun-dried tomatoes, farm eggs, crème fraiche, in an all-butter crust. Creamed Corn Side $4 Corn, cream cheese reduction, dash of salt & pepper. I enjoyed both the Chicken Pot Pie (great consistency and flavor) and the Steak & Ale Pie (large chucks of meat and a savory sauce). The Mushroom Quiche was also tasty. The Creamed Corn was a hit. Tips and Comments: They offer two sizes of sides. They were out of the Green Hog & Cheese Pie. A diner commented the mushroom quiche was a different recipe than the first time she tried it and that they use a lot of pepper in their dishes.

Where's the sauce?!

The crust is flakey and the inside of the chicken pie is good - but way too dry. You need more sauce! I guess that's why their outside water container was empty. I'm surprised at all the 5 star reviews from Elites. My friend had the beef one and it was even drier than mine! I would pass.

Glad we randomly stopped by this pie shop. The chicken pot pie is a must try. The blueberry pie slice was a hit with my son so much so, he had to get another slice. What's great about this place is there's outdoor seating for all the restaurants that are a part of the outdoor food hall. So you can have your pie but also have other food as well.

Came in early last week with my sister hoping to snag the Tinola Pie collab with Chef Tara, but it sold out in just 30 minutes! Bummed we missed it, but honestly the yellow curry pie more than made up for it. The filling was incredible and the pie dough itself was chef's kiss. We demolished ours in minutes and I ended up grabbing some to go on the way out. Pop Pie is a small booth but don't let that fool you. There's plenty of outdoor seating to kick back and enjoy that classic sunny California weather. The staff were super friendly and there was zero wait, which was a nice surprise. Already thinking about my next visit and hoping the Tinola Pie makes a return. So many pies to try, so little time!

Biggie Approved! I always wanted to try this place! Located in Carlsbad Village Pop Pie was pretty amazing! What prompted us to the here was their Red Chile Pork pie- really good flavor and not overly spicy which would have been ok with me. The crust was warm, flakey and buttery, so good!!! We also tried the chicken pop pie with a side of mash potatoes- both very good and the gravy was over the top!!!

Classic Chicken ($12) - This felt like a comforting, homemade meal. The buttery, flaky crust was the star--I'd love the recipe for this so I can replicate it at home. Salted Caramel Apple Crumble ($7) - This was undoubtedly their best pie. They nailed their savory pies but blew me away with their sweet ones. The highlight was their salted caramel filling. This is a must try item here! Pumpkin Cream Cheese ($7) - This was an elevated pumpkin pie as you could taste more spices than a traditional one would have. My favorite component was the dollops of cream cheese--they achieved a great texture and flavor with them. The pepita was also a nice touch!

After a long afternoon and creating upon supper time I decided to drive a few blocks from where I had an appointment to Pop Pie. Pop Pie has been on my radar for far too long for me to just now experience the goodness. The tiny but mighty shop is located in Carlsbad Village by Revolution Roasters, Stella Jean's Ice Cream and Shoots Fish. I placed my order online while I walked around the patio. The gal in the shop was really sweet and helpful. She answered questions and gave me some suggestions. I came home with the cute box of dinner which was still piping hot when I opened it up to eat. Love this place! Be back soon.

We ordered a full Salted Apple Crumble Pie for my daughter's bday and it was incredible. It was full of complex flavors, not too sweet but absolutlely perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I am not a real fan of pot pie until I had pop pie- it's baked to perfection and crust was flaky and buttery. My favorite was the Hog Pie and cheese . It's shareable too. I ordered frozen also To go. Cute and instagramable restaurant. Service was friendly and fast, a must try when in Carlsbad .

I always go to Pop Pie whenever I visited San Diego, but I was so excited when I found this branch at Carlsbad. It is located at The Cottages. It is a nice area that is home to many businesses. They have various assortment of pies. The branch here has welcoming and cozy vibes and cute decor. They have outdoor seating. The staff were very sweet and friendly. I ordered; - Chicken pot pie 5/5 The crust was flaky and buttery. It had chunks of chicken, vegetables in a creamy sauce. The filling was generous and the taste was very flavorful. - Creamy Corn 5/5 It was very rich and creamy. - Sausage Roll 5/5 Minced pork, bacon, celery, and onion wrapped in buttery and flaky pastry. It was very savory and had excellent texture. - Guava cheese (Hand Pie) 5/5 It had perfect balance of guava and cream cheese. The crust was perfectly flaky and buttery as well. They also have various of frozen pies. The place was very clean. The service was fast. It is such an amazing Pop Pie spot to try. I definitely recommend it.

During my visit to Carlsbad Village, I discovered Pop Pie, and what a great surprise! The smell of the place pulled me in, and I had to take a look inside. Savory and dessert pies were calling my name, and I couldn't resist the temptation. I left with a slice of the Key Lime Pie and a slice of Salted Caramel Apple Crumble Pie. Customer service was great, and the price was t Upon reaching home, we enjoyed the delicious pie with a shot of rye whiskey and a cup of black coffee.
