The hostess was rude, the waitress acted as though she did not want to be bothered and my food was served on a plate that was so nasty, that it was ridiculous. I unrolled the utensils to eat and damn if they weren't dirty. The servers do a terrific job of making sure that the walls remain standing. They spend much of their shift leaning against them, thus insuring your safety. It is obviously an important task because they ignore their guests' need for more coffee or napkins to insure their safety. Should you be so bold as to make eye contact and ask for something you will likely be met with a rolling of eyes or a classic herumph. I know that there is a certain mystique that comes with Jersey diners but do servers really need to yell at guests when the server makes a mistake? In all fairness, I guess that we should have asked to proof read the server's check before she submitted it to the kitchen. She was, after all, tired from leaning on the wall, keeping up with local gossip, and glaring at those that dare to bed seated in their sections. I am really not sure why we went here a second time. We had always wondered about Ponzio's and today we decided to give it a try. Terrible mistake. We were seated a few minutes after we got in, which was great but the server asking us for a drink order even before we had a chance to remove our coats was not. It felt so rushed and definitely not a good start. I should have known that things would get worse. I opened the menu and not a single vegetarian friendly option! Even the salad had meat in them. My family and I love going to Ponzios. Their dinners are fairly good, but not great. Although I must say that the quality is well above average for most diners. Where Ponzio's really excels, however, is breakfast. Their breakfast items are simply outstanding. I can honestly say that there is no better place that I know of to get a good breakfast. Above all, however, is the staff. We absolutely love the staff. We will occasionally head over with our two young kids and the staff (even those who are not serving us) will come over and say hi. And not only that, they will work with us in getting food out quickly for the kids. For those of you with young kids, you know how valuable this is to letting you get a good meal in. Ok, so this review is for overall experience. The food itself is actually quite good particularly for a diner. Very flavorful lentil soup. My dad had some really under cooked home fries, but that was the only cooking issue. I had a pretty damn good soft shell crab sandwich, except that I was not alerted to the presence of toothpicks hidden inside the brioche bun and almost killed myself . I've had some of their baked good before. They are pretty solid. The service was fine. Nothing took too long and the waitress was friendly. Atmosphere is nice, all that. Yada, yada, yada. Now if you're still reading you're probably wondering why I gave this place a single star. I never really give any places a single star. Its like the lowest you can give i think. I don't know where to begin. My family have been going to this place for probably about 10 years. It's kind of become a weird family tradition. We mostly only went because my vegan uncle enjoyed the garden burger. We recently stopped going because they got rid of the garden burger. Another reason is because the fried green beans made me horribly sick. This place is absolutely terrible to be honest. The food is ALWAYS cold and takes literally 10 years to come to the table. It doesn't matter what you order, it will be overpriced and taste below average. Another thing is the strange staff. This one waitress knew my order before I said it out loud which scared me. Would you like to drink out of a dirty cup? Or have a hair in your food? Then you should definitely eat here. We experienced both. I ordered a hot tea and after drinking it for a bit I noticed the cup wasn't washed properly. Then my food came out with a hair in it and when I said something to the waiter, the response was " what would you like me to do? Get you a new one ". I sat there convincing him I was grossed out. He finally got me a new egg and fruit - or perhaps repurposed. I seriously questioned if it was actually remade as the fruit looked exactly the same. The egg wasn't very good. It was SUPER oily and the side of home fries were also oily and tasteless. My fiancée ordered the pretzel burger and bay fries. Both were great!!! However, we found it weird that we couldn't substitute the regular fries that came with his burger with the bay fries. This place is a total disappointment. We will not be back. read more

Ponzios never disappoints. If you go to Ponzios regularly chances are you've seen me eating there (or at least my parents!) And there's a reason for that- consistently good food is what makes me go back to Ponzios. Couple that with an amazing bakery (which equates to impressive desserts that usually are taken home) and you've got a great place. The only thing I'd recommend staying away from is their french toast. I'm a huge french toast fan but Ponzios' french toast isn't very good. I didn't give it five stars because although the food is usually always good, I rarely get blown away by a dish. Ponzio's is good, but I would consider it more of a restaurant than a diner. When I think of a diner, I think of the classic, Greek-owned diners which border all sides of Route 130, with menus pages and pages long, with every combination of food you could possibly imagine. Ponzio's has a much more limited menu. The food and service is always good, but I have to remember when I go here I'm not going to have the choices I would at, say, Harvest or Mastori's. I've been going here for years. I avoided it in my younger years because it's more like a family restaurant than a diner for late night munchies. The one thing I noticed about the service, was that the staff consistently seems so miserable. I always see them snapping at each other, sometimes transparently rude to customers, etc. I can assume it is a direct reflection of poor management/mistreatment. I'm sure the snobby Cherry Hill clientele is a factor also. Our waitress seemed on the brink of tears the other night. She was fantastic, we loved her service, but you could tell she was getting barked at from all directions. I felt so bad for our waitress that I made sure management knew we were happy with her. Their food is always good, their cheese rolls are an addiction in my family- so, food wise, Ponzio's is great. I just wish the atmosphere was less intense. read more

Really don't like this place at all. Two weeks ago I go in to collect my take out order that I called in. Waited at takeout register for 10minutes for someone to come over. No one shows but ppl flying all over. Finally someone comes over and she starts taking care of wait staff receipts/checks. She could have said I will be right with you sir but nope nothing. After about 4 minutes watching her reconciling checks I ask if she is taking care of take out. At this point she could have said yes and I will be right with you. Instead she mumbled grumbled something negative and went right back to her checks. Turned around and left. Will never go back. I told a friend of mine and she told me she went in for a grilled cheese sandwich while sitting at booth. She ordered and 40 minutes later still didn't have her lunch. She asked a waitress (not hers) if she could check on her lunch or find her waitress and 10minutes later she walked out with no approaching her. Today we celebrated my Mother-in-law's 90th birthday at Ponzio's in the Barklay Room with just under 50 people....Wonderful! The room was perfect for what we needed complete with our choice of colored linens. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The cake was beautiful and oh, so yummy! The two servers we had, Netti and Judy, were so friendly, efficient and helpful, even taking a last minute family picture for us at the end. We couldn't have been happier! Every week after pre-school at St. Andrew's I would get an Elmo cupcake from Ponzio's and couldn't have been more pleased. However, now that my palate is slightly more sophisticated (very slightly) I'm not a big fan. For a diner, their food is pretty pricey and the taste doesn't warrant the cash. I once ordered scrambled eggs with cheese there and my eggs were so runny it looked like someone had poured orange juice in the dish, after sending it back the new ones came back with the same soupy effect. I have been coming to this place for years, but has gone down hill considerably. Snapper soup and cheese rolls were delicious. But the chicken Parmesan was pre-made and disgusting. Usually, in the past, and at other diners you get a large golden brown cutlet with tasty sauce and gobs of cheese. Here, it was two small pieces of chicken with a tasteless red sauce and little cheese. Clearly it was scooped out of a pan that you would see at a casino buffet and plopped on a plate, My son ordered a greek salad that came without the Feta cheese. When we finally received the waitresses attention she had to personally inspect the salad and take it back to the kitchen to show the cooks that there was no feta or else she would've had to charge us $2 dollars extra. I could go on all day about this place- fantastic food, even MORE fantastic baked goods... the bread basket you get with meals... to DIE for! I've been to Ponzios at least 200 times in my life, and seen it expand from a small diner to the mega-diner that it is today. We've had family lunches and dinners here with over 20 people. There's sometimes a wait, especially on weekends. They have a bar, which I've never been in. They have a large bakery counter, with an amazing selection of cakes, cookies, and other baked goods. They have a long counter, where the regulars sit and nurse their cups of coffee. And they have a long line of comfortable booths lining the windows facing Route 70. The waitresses are usually pretty good. The food is not spectacular, but it's decent. I like their blackened cajun chicken sandwich with a side of honey mustard and raw onion. It's not on the menu but they'll make it for you if you ask. It's a Cherry Hill institution, going all the way back when Ellisburg Circle was still an actual circle. Their menu is kinda limited and they don't have the huge selection that places like Short Hills Deli have, but you can still find something you like. Good selection of salads, and excellent breakfasts. Not cheap, but good quality food for the price. read more

This rating is for the bakery ONLY. I am not a fan of their real food and only come here for their desserts, which are amazing by the way. Now onto the desserts. Let me tell you which ones i have had and give a good description of each, hopefully which will help you all decide if you intend to order a pastry. 1. Peanut Butter Cupcake- Being that I am a peanut butter fanatic, I can't help but try every peanut butter option on the menu. So, it's not a surprise that I ordered this cupcake on one occasion. I love that there is a tiny lil' Reese's Peanut Butter Cup on the top. How could you go wrong with adding that?! Onto the frosting. The frosting was okay-nothing special. The cake wasn't that good either. When I bit into the cupcake, I was surprised to find a glob of peanut butter inside. I loved it. So all in all, I wouldn't recommend getting the cupcake. I was really sad after I ate it. It really disappointed me. 2. Cannoli- Now this was upsetting. Being that New Jersey is famous for their cannolis, I obviously had to try one. I basically grew up with cannolis!! So when I bit into this cannoli, I immediately became sad. It was so soggy that I couldn't eat the dough part. The filling was fine, but THIS was a big disappointment. 3. Peanut Butter Ganache- Ponzios, Ponzios, I owe my life to thee!!! This has got to be one of the best desserts in the whole world. I am so serious. The layers of chocolate cake are so moist and fresh that I just about die with each bite I take. The cake is coupled with several layers of peanut butter buttercream. Oh. My. Goodness. It is THE best peanut butter buttercream you will ever have in your life. In addition, the whole cake is coated in a layer of chocolate--which is SO SO SO GOOD!! Surrounding the bottom of the cake are several peanut butter chips, which again are very delicious. Now for the showstopper. On top of the cake is a whole large Reese's peanut butter cup held on by a dollop of chocolate buttercream and drizzled with chocolate. THIS DESSERT IS SO SO SO AMAZING. I GET IT EVERY TIME I COME. SO PLEASE, PONZIOS, NEVER STOP MAKING THE PEANUT BUTTER GANACHE. I LOVE YOU BECAUSE OF IT. and the snickers cake. i loveeeeee me some of that snickers cake. SO PONZIOS NEVER GET RID OF THIS AND THE SNICKERS CAKE. ELSE I WILL CRY. 4. Snicker's Cake- I kinda already mentioned that I am in love with the Snicker's Cake. Both this and the Peanut Butter Ganache are so fresh and just so delectable. When you order a slice of Snicker's Cake, expect your taste buds to be blown away. No joke. This piece of cake is comprised of three layers of the moistest chocolate cake you will ever eat. In between these layers is this unbelievable combination of caramel, peanut butter, chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. The whole cake is coated in this AMAZING chocolate buttercream and caramel. The back of this cake has thousands of peanut butter chips and chocolate chips and every bite I take I think I can hear angels singing. On top is this layer of delicious caramel and a chunk of a Snicker's bar. It's also drizzled with chocolate. So unbelievably good. 5. German Chocolate Cake- Again, this cake is delicious. You can't go wrong with Ponzio's cakes. It's three layers of a freshly baked chocolate cake. In between these layers is a delicious coconut pecan frosting. This cake is coated with chocolate buttercream and drizzled with chocolate. The whole back of the cake is coated with toasted coconut. I only ordered this one time, but I loved it. However, I have to say the peanut butter ganache and Snicker's Cake have a special place in my heart, being that I am in love with peanut butter. That doesn't mean though that I didn't like this cake. I LOVE German Chocolate Cake. This cake definitely is delicious and I wouldn't mind having another slice... read more

The food was good, we were seated right away but waited about 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The workers weren't too friendly either.

We ordered four sandwiches. The waiter arrived with three correct and the other incorrect. It should have been a club but he served a grilled cheese in its place. The service was slow and the sandwiches were nothing special. We were tole the turkey burgers were free of all pepers and spices as my wife cannot have spices. It had so much spice and pepers in it you couldn't taste the turkey. Our bill was one hundred dollars including a not deserved ten percent tip. To sum up, we had a less than average serving of sandwiches, with very slow service, and paid way too much. This was my last trip to this place. read more

We received 2 chocolate mousse cakes that were accidentally the peanut butter mousse cakes. I called Ponzios and informed them of the mix up. Having grown up in SJ, Ponzio's was a regular spot for our family for weekend breakfasts. The MAIN draw for us was their "Corned Beef Hash", which was homemade and AWESOME. It was lean, tender, light on the potatoes and always cooked a crispy brown on the outside while still moist inside. I am now in Boston so when we visit NJ, we always stop by and this past week we discovered that Ponzio's has taken the Corned Beef Hash off the menu!!! NOOOOO! The server said that the cost of making it was too high. That is just crazy talk! If there is demand for a dish, then raise the price or take a loss if it truly is unique and brings customers in who will buy other higher profit margin items! Well after 40 yrs of going to Ponzio's we won't be returning...I wonder how that affects the bottom line if there are others who also only went for the Corned Beef Hash? That would be interesting to analyze if taking it off the menu actually helped or hurt the bottom line. Everything else they serve is just normal, good diner food so I'm giving it 3 stars. Love the food & have been going here for years! A little pricey but really good! The only bad thing is that the young women that seats you is nasty! I was with a friend that has a hard time breathing. I asked to please sit in a booth close to the register. There were two people ahead of us & she had tables open to seat them in. I asked if she could please sit down in the booth she was going to put us in as it was already clean. She got so nasty & ignored me, just taking her time searing the others. The booth was clean & open & she knew she was going to seat us there. My friend was having a hard time breathing & she just rolled her eyes & completely ignore day us. We stood for another 10 minutes for no reason! She should be fired for her lack of compassion & for being nasty to customers!!! This is by far the best "Diner" you will ever find. A mainstay in town for years, we've since moved to Delaware, but we return every chance we can. The food is amazing and they also have a better bakery than you'll find anywhere. I only get my cakes and cookies here. The servers are all professional and the owners are always on site. I have lived in Cherry Hill most of my adult life. I have been to Ponzio's many times. Mostly I go for breakfast and an occasional lunch. They have an outstanding breakfast selection as well as lunch. Never had a bad meal there, I expecially love going there for breakfast. read more
