What we thought would only be months turned to years because of unexpected circumstances. Of course we wanted to get our things out because the cost of renting a storage unit was adding up. However, my hospitalization delayed moving our things into our own storage shed which was also delayed in being assembled. We never worried about theft. After all, this place has a security gate, a security door, a lock on our unit and someone watching the premises. In August 23, 2026 I was finally strong enough recovering from chemo treatments that we decided to move our things from Cube Smart to our own storage shed. First thing we noticed is that the keypad that keeps the door locked to our unit did not work. Anyone can come in without having to enter their door code. Then I found it odd that the lock on my unit was not the lock that I placed there a year and 4 months ago and it had a Cube Smart sticker on it. This was on a Saturday and nobody was at the front office. I called the number they posted on the office door and they sent an emergency contact person. After going through some verifications, this person cut the lock for me. Inside we found almost all of the plastic bins we placed there with important things were gone. What was left is damaged or empty. We were robbed! I filed a police report and submitted a loss inventory form. After a year can anyone remember what is not there? That's what they expected us to list. Things that are missing. What we lost were valuable, sure. But most had sentimental value. Total value was approximately $58k. Silverware, luxury handbags that belonged to my mother in law that we recently moved to a nursing home and other collectibles that she owned. Cube Smarts solution is $2000 in insurance. Our loss is devastating and not much we can do without having to pay more for a lawyer. Do not let this happen to you. Do not trust a storage facilities security. Keep an inventory and insure your contents. We believe this is an inside job because from what I am learning, it happens more often than we think, it is not investigated and those working there know which units have been sitting idle for awhile. Also, visit your units often when you can and check if the cameras work. Trust no one with your things.

Thankfully, another customer came by and helped us. The second floor is hot and has no ventilation. On top of that, we realized we were assigned the unit at the very end--so make sure to confirm which unit you're getting, because there is only ONE access door. So imagine having to walk and push your cart from one end to the other multiple times. They're quick to call and answer when it's bill-related, though.

As soon as PS bought the facility, we had nothing BUT problems. Our units were robbed continuously, and management (on-site and district), refused to help. When they would find our u it's "unsecure," not only would they NOT contact us immediately, but they put on THEIR locks, and refused to remove them, when we had new locks in hand. This gave them ample opportunity to continue to rob our units. The other complaint is the constant raising of the rent, with absolutely NO JUSTIFICATION, to do so, (no upstairs ventilation, stairwells filled with spider webs and dust), except to price the unit's out beyond affordability, so they could "auction" whatever items remained. The auction house they used to finally empty my family's units were rigged so that the storage personnel would gladly pilfering through whatever was left, before selling it for ridiculous fees, and then having the audacity to try to charge US, for the cleaning g fees, when it's the responsibility of the auction 'winner.' DO NOT rent here. There are better storage places to rent from in the area, that are also more secure, and have more restrictive access to not only the gate, but the upstairs indoor u it's, as well.
