Blood was flowing from my elbow onto the floor. I have the photos. I went to the emergency room where they put 7 stitches to keep the hanging skin in place and they wrapped it up. At that time I was my mom's primary caregiver so this severe injury totally impaired my ability to care for her and I had to hire somebody to do the jobs I was doing for her. I contacted the insurance agency that represented the facility on 10/30/2013, Patriot Risk and Insurance Services, and their representative, Lauren R. Ziminsky, replied that they were not accepting responsibility. She went on to tell many lies about what their client said, the manager and assistant manager at that time, said about the incident. She even went as far as to lie that when I reported the broken glass and I described the person I reported it to, which was the assistant manager, either Natalie or Bree, I don't remember who is who but I remember distinctly that it was one of them because there were only two people that worked at that facility, that such a person did not work there. I knew at this time this was going to become a civil lawsuit. I don't know if any of you know what's involved with this but it is quite complicated. First I had to find out who was the true owner of the facility to have that person legally served. I accomplished that. Then I filed the appropriate documents with the court and the process takes effect. I wont bore you with all the details that came next but then the court date was next. I went to court, but the owner did not show up, for some odd reason his son did, but during my testimony I told the absolute 100% truth about what happened. I showed the judge many photos of the progression of the injury through the healing process and I still have the scar to this day to remind me of their negligence and lies, and what happened with the insurance company. Next it was their turn. The owner's son told nothing but 100% lies. He even went as far as saying that I had asked the manager for a job. Now this was interesting. Let me tell you exactly what happened about that. I am an electrician and when I go into a business I hand out my business card and tell the person I hand my business card to let me know if they ever need any electrical work done to give me a call. That is exactly what I told the person behind the desk at the storage facility, again it was either Natalie or Bree, but the owner's son took my words, spun them around and made it sound like I was asking for a job. Do you see how pathetic people can be when they lie to deny responsibility? I knew this was going to be tough going up against an insurance company and a storage facility but I was confident that with me telling only the truth, and him telling only lies, I would get some sort of compensation for my pain and suffering as well as lost wages from not being able to accept any electrical work during the healing process as well as something for what I had to pay out to hire somebody to care for my mom. Then the letter came from the court. THEY OWED ME NOT ONE F$$$$$G PENNY. As much as I was upset about this, it even made my mom cry, I had to accept the ruling because civil lawsuits do not accept appeals. The only joy I get from all of this is every time I drive by that storage facility I make sure to slow down just a little bit, stick my hand out the window and give them a BIG MIDDLE FINGER. My advice to all of you is if you rent a unit there, either get your stuff out now or be very careful not to hurt yourself on their property because they will always deny all responsibility. They helped me find the right size for all my junk and even offered to reserve it for me until I got it all packed and ready to move. They clearly went over storage rules and assured me that they were there to help me with whatever I needed. I think her name was Kathy, she made the experience personal and made me feel right at home. She made the experience less like a business transaction and more like friends meeting for coffee but she was still professional about it all. She's polite and friendly. One hell of a manager. As if that would do it, her daughter walked in and I was automatically sold on the fact that it's family run. Mother daughter duo helps me feel safe and secure. Added bonus that there's always a manager on site. Her daughter/assistant (her name escapes me) is a chip off the ol' block. She's just as informative and polite. She made sure I had access to water and their yummy mints. When she was showing me the unit, she also showed me where the bathroom and trash cans were. She was even polite enough to stop and let me use the bathroom. I noticed how clean everything was and I love all the plants out on the grounds that make it feel home-y. This is a great facility all around, from the amazing prices, the cleanliness of the place, to the well-mannered and very helpful women running the place. They both left an impression on me and I will be sure to recommend them to my friends and family for years to come. Very pleased with my experience here. Thank you Ramona Mini Storage (Kathy and daughter) for all that you do for your tenants.
