I decided to visit this place even after reading reviews about their poor customer service. I just assumed this was isolated incidents and the management team improved training or got rid of the bad apples. I went in the drive thru line and was greeted with "hola". Since I don't speak Spanish, I responded with a "hello." The lady on the other end abruptly changed her tone and responded "what do you want" in a rather aggressive manner. The beans and rice are my typical go to's as they are always consistency good. They have grilled chicken options as well but I haven't tried that yet. The environment was very welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. Kenia was very helpful and ensured that we received qualify food. Erika was amazing. She repeated our order to ensure that it was correct and made sure that we were truly satisfied. We utilized the app and received a 3 free piece chicken meal with the purchase of a drink, and that was a huge benefit of downloading their app. Customer service is critical to me in deciding if I return to a restaurant, and I will surely return. Pretty good. It's their first day and they are swamped. The fryers can't keep up with demand so expect to wait a long time both before and after you order. That said, the food we received was pretty good. My wife, who is from Guatemala, said it tasted pretty close to what Pollo Campero is like over there. The fried chicken is the star and is juicy and a little bit greasy. The flavor isn't spicy, it's just a little different - more savory. Don't get the fries - they're nothing to write home about. Ours were limp by the time we got home. One side item you MUST try though are the campero pinto beans. They were incredible. Service was pretty good. You could tell they were under a lot of stress but everyone we came in contact with seemed to be trying really hard. Well come back definitely when it calms down. The current manager lady has no costumer service skills why do they pick people like her to be a manager. I ordered in the drive thru the 12 piece and got confused after I ordered because I thought they only had thigh and drum sticks. We asked for 2 breast understanding that there will be a wait. We got our order and when I checked it I saw wings so I went inside and asked if we can get drum sticks instead of the wings. The cashier lady was nice and asked her manager she was instantly rude and said "why didn't you ask for this before" I tried to explain myself but she didn't listen to me and just turned away she looked at my order and angrily explained that the order was correct. I'm so glad they were able to bring the flavors from their Central American restaurants to the states. The Camperitos are scrumptious and they are great for kids to eat since they are made bite size (they are also easy to cut for toddlers too). The best part is, if cut them in half you can see you are eating chicken meat, not some sponge like fried blob. The sauces they have are great too. Lime- cilantro is my favorite, but their honey mustard, sweet sauce and special Pollo Campero sauce are amazing too. If I would judge a restaurant only on the quality of their food I would give them 5 Stars. However, for the past 5 times that I have gone through the drive thru (mode of accessing delicious goodness) either they can't hear you on the speaker or drive through window, and they are consistently out of something. It is so disappointing every...single...time. I've never been inside so I can't rate the volume level, but I am going to assume it is very loud because I'm having to repeat myself....repeatedly. One time ordering dinner with my mom we decided to try a dessert so we asked for their dulce de leche empana only to find out they didn't have any.... so instead we ordered plantains for our dessert. The teller added it to our order and off we went to the window. Once we got to the drive thru window the teller informs us that they ALSO DON'T HAVE plantains and asked us if we wanted flan "on the house". We accepted the flan as a surrender because all we wanted to was something sweet and felt defeated. I must say it was a little embarrassing for me too because I had been talking up this Pollo Campero to my mom and you know she was NOT HAVING IT! I came here with my girlfriend in hopes of trying a new locale for Central American yums outside of El Pollo Rico or Kikiriki. We ordered a chicken bowl and a grilled chicken meal with Horchada and Maringo for drinks. After 5 minutes of waiting, a lady tells us it will be a 15 minute wait for the chicken meal. What? It wasn't even busy, how could there be a wait (15 minutes at that) for chicken? The restaurant specializes in chicken! Halfway through the wait, a lady brings us my chicken bowl and her french fries in some half attempt to please us with incomplete meals. She then brought me the wrong drink (Jamaica) which we had to correct when the "remainder" of our meal finally arrived. Food was OK at best. The Horchada and Maringo were sweet beyond desirable. I threw my drink out after two sips. The grilled chicken was dry and required a ton of ketchup for moisture and taste. Chicken bowl was 90% rice and tasted like a Lean Cuisine. Communication with the employees was still a hassle even if you speak fluent Spanish. Lastly, this all came wrapped in an overpriced $18 package. Go to El Pollo Rico where $18 sends your taste buds to heaven. Overall, not a good dining experience. Fast food should be cheap and quick. This place was neither. You can't go wrong with chicken rice and beans buuuut I've had better. This place isn't bad at all, every time I come here I am satisfied! IDK what they use for the seasoning for the crust on the chicken but it's pretty good. I never went outside the box and tried other things than the usual chicken rice and beans. For me it's a place I'll go to if I'm hungry and need something more fulfilling than Wendy's McDonald etc. Plus it's 3 minuets from my house. I'll give it 3 stars because it's not spectacular buts it's not bad also it's in between. Prices are reasonable except for the $2.50 up charge for an extra.
