Del Campo came up and I checked out the recent reviews. Decision made! It's not quite a hole in the wall kind of place, but it's close and in an unassuming strip mall boxed in by a variety of other storefronts. The dining area is small. I did not check the occupancy limit, but I would be willing to guess it was under 70 guests. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, patient, and courteous. Hidden gem right next to Potomac Mills outlet mall! Stopped here for some excellent Latin American cuisine. They had a map of Argentina up on the wall. Small seating area since they are in a strip mall. Noticed quite a few delivery drivers coming to pick up orders so the locals know it's a great spot. Menu was simple, food was delicious! Tortilla chips came out warm with a hit of lime, salsa always so good we didn't need to order queso. The one waitress working was friendly. Had a slight language barrier so it took us a bit to order. I ordered the fajita mixta (beef, chicken, & shrimp). The beans were so good I wish I ordered an additional side. Loved the choice of dishes they used. Found this gem thanks to Yelp! It's tucked off in a random shopping center but this place bursts with flavor! I've had a few different items from here and none of them disappoint! They are very accommodating because I got the Molcajete platter and I don't eat pork so they doubled the steak. Absolutely delicious! The guacamole was fresh and delicious, and arrived quickly. It took a little longer than expected for the entrees to arrive but it was worth the wait. Found this hidden gem on accident and so glad we did. Everything was yummy. We started with strawberry margaritas while the kitchen prepared our meal!!! I'd been craving Tacos and my traveling companion wanted to try the snapper and seafood fajita specials so he did and they didn't disappoint and the birria tacos so good with the consommé that I could drink a bowl off was yummy. I'm very tempted to give 3 stars based on our food experience however the lady serving us was so nice, patient, and informative about the traditional Guatemalan dishes so I have to say the service was 5 stars as well as the best horchata we've had yet (with half priced refills). We saw the weekend special crab-stuffed lobster and were so excited to try it while it was available, but for one reason or other it was very underwhelming. It seemed to be a little heavy on the filler with the crab stuffing and not near as much meat as I was expecting, it is very possible that we're just realizing we don't like lobster quite as much as we are just believing in the hype. I'm excited to come back because I do believe this spot will have some delicious and unique foods for us to try that will leave us much more satisfied. I will say the food tastes as a homemade Latino food! We ordered Paella for two, sopa de Gallina and Tres leches cake(amazing). Everything was delicious, the rice was on point to my taste not over cooked (like masa) the portions were for humans being and for reasonable price. The restaurant is small but clean, the restrooms were clean as well. The waitress was lovely, though she did disappear for a while and since all I had to drink was a single can of coke, I did get rather thirsty while trying to finish my meal. The salsa was very mild and liquidy, could use some more oomph. The quesadilla was well flavored as was the guac. Hubs got some tacos and enjoyed those as well. If I was looking for a quesadilla and only a quesadilla, I'd go back to get take out. I took my car to get new tires in that shopping center and happen to see this restaurant. I looked it up on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Their food was very authentic!! My husband and I were starving and tired of same old chipotle and Jersey mikes when we found this spot on maps. My husband had the molcajete platter which had chicken, chorizo, steak, shrimp, and a side of beans, rice, and tortillas. I had camarones en crema which is shrimp in a light creamy sauce paired with rice and veggies. We also ordered a pupusa to try it. Everything was delicious, the platter was heavy but my husband is a big guy and he was very satisfied with the portion. My shrimp were so flavorful, my rice was fresh, and as were my veggies. This is a new restaurant with a solid foundation, but there is some room to grow. Certainly 5 star potential! I'm looking for a little more confidence from the staff, which I am certain will come naturally each day they are open. The first question when I walked in was if I was lost...not very welcoming or confident in what they have to offer. The server stumbled over specials and was slightly unsure what was offered each day. Again, with this being a new restaurant that'll get better with practice/experience. Confidence will positively impact the experience at this store, as the staff are very friendly and have good customer service skills to build on. As for the food - the chips and dip that first came out were awesome. The chips were hot and fresh! Like, wow! The salsa had a good kick to it. Great way to set the tone. I ordered the shrimp tacos and horchata to enjoy with my entree. The horchata was really good. The shrimp tacos, however, can be better executed. Let me be clear - the flavor combinations for the tacos are perfect. No question about it. The tortillas, however, were thin and all 3 tacos fell apart when I picked them up and/or took the first bite. Additionally, the shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. Ultimately, the tacos were underwhelming but AGAIN lots of room to grow here and easily fixable. The restaurant itself is very clean and beautifully decorated for a small, shopping center restaurant.
