I found this teatau ant online, and I came right over here during my break. Instead of ordering regular fried chicken, I decided on their baked chicken platter that came with four pieces. A chicken breast, wing, leg, and thigh. The platter also came with a side order of potatoes which also a sure bet for my body. The chicken is consistently dry, over-grilled/burnt and noticeably spicier than it used to be, completely missing that signature flavor. There's nothing worse than dry chicken breast and a hard wing. I placed my order through Yelp (fulfilled by Grubhub) and arrived at the restaurant expecting it to be ready. Instead, the order hadn't even been made. My first time at this location, I was really hungry and pick up 3 meals. it was a half hour before closing, when I walked in the place was packed I thought it was someone's family reunion. The chicken was not tender at all. It could have cooked longer until it became tender, had no seasoning on it or extremely very little such a big disappointment. The coleslaw had a bit too much mayonnaise in it and the sauces that they gave one of them was yellow. The other one was green. This place is my go to Peruvian chicken spot for a few years. It also helps that's it's the closest one to my house. Parking can be a little rough sometimes but I can usually find a spot. Also it looks like they might have online ordering now which is helpful but their service is so quick (and friendly) and lines move fast so it's not really necessary. Our go to order is usually a whole chicken, yucca, and rice. The chicken is so juicy/tender, the skin is a little crisp, and it's all seasoned very well. The chickens are pretty big so we get another meal of leftovers. The yucca is fried perfectly and you can get a lot of thick pieces or small crispy ones. Rice is rice usually but it has a buttery taste, maybe they put chicken drippings in it? I wouldn't get the fries because they're steak fries and well the fried yucca is better or the coleslaw (too creamy for me). If you're in the area looking to feed yourself or your family for a decent price, this place is a must. read more

The decor and the ultra-colorful furniture gives a more child like feel than a place adults eat (kind of like McDonald's back in the day). The napkins are terrible quality, the store brand napkins you get at Walmart are better than the ones they got here. I was out on a kind of date back in February at El Pollo Rico. They used styrofoam plates, and other food accessories, which did lack a professionalism, I think due to the fact they did not want to have the responsibility for doing a lot of dishes. Now with those gripes out of the way I will say the food was high quality, and quite tasty. If you want a healthier alternative to KFC and Popeyes this, is it. The Peruvian Inca Cola was also quite good. If I am in Woodbridge again, I will stop by, I just hope they at least do paper plates and food accessories (though actual glassware would be better), have better quality napkins, and last but not least change the god-awful childish look of the restaurant. read more

I've been to this location several times already and have had the half chicken with yuca and coleslaw. On a good day, the yuca fries is crisp and soft on the inside and chicken is tender and cooked/flavored just right. My last visit was sub par as the chicken was way over salted and had a feeling of being old. As they've hiked up the price to $16.49 (including tax), I'd expect them to raise their quality and performance. I'm also not happy with the 2 sauce provisioning as one would expect to get twice the amount of sauce for the half chicken since a quarter chicken includes 2 sauces. There are other pollo places that give 4 sauces for half a chicken and charge less by around 25%. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. read more

The food at this location is just as good. They have a limited menu, so one can expect that they focus on making their food great as opposed to offering a wide variety. They have tender and tasty chicken, the creamiest coleslaw, fries, yucca and rice. They give you green and yellow sauces, which I like to combine and slather on my chicken. So tasty! The space is small, but well lit and maintained, with a few tables and a long counter with seats facing the street. It's rotisserie Peruvian style chicken and it's bomb. This place burned down sometime ago but it was rebuilt and thankfully it was! On the inside it has bright colors but it is a small space. Before COVID there were tables set up where you could sit down and enjoy your food. However, these tables are not available during this time. When you walk in, you place your order on the microphone and it's made for you to take home. The menu is small, but it works for them. My family always orders the whole chicken with 2 sides, fries and rice. Although my family prefers double fries, I enjoy the rice! The sauces, green and yellow! Green is spicy and yellow doesn't have a kick at all. I mix both sauces together and eat them on my chicken and it's loovveee! If you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner option, check them out and I promise you won't be disappointed. We were looking for a good Peruvian restaurant while we were in the Potomac Mills area. El Pollo Rico caught our eye and glad we went. They have outdoor sitting which is great on a beautiful day. One of the best chicken places and has been around for the longest time. Thankfully we don't have to drive to Arlington for it. We have been getting chicken from el pollo Rico for 12 years now and it's consistently good. A whole chicken with just fries and extra sauce. Left over chicken we make quesadillas, taquitos, or chicken salad. Chicken is so good, lots of flavors you can taste the cumin, pepper. I love Peruvian chicken. El Pollo Rico is succulent and rich in flavor. The place is unassuming and nothing fancy, although the TVs are huge. It's all about the chicken here. I always get dark meat but my friend loved their white meat as well. We arrived around 8:30pm and we had to wait around 15 mins for our chicken. Definitely try to call in your order ahead of time. But either way, it's worth the wait. It's dangerous that I found this place since it's on my way home from work. So tempting to stop in and get take out (which I've done a couple of times). I tried this place last Sunday. The chicken and coleslaw were good but I expected the chicken to have more flavor, to be honest. The sauce was okay. The fries were steak fries. I like alfajores but didn't care for the one I got from here. It was crowded and took a while, but overall I enjoyed it. As others have said, the sides are limited: fries, yucca, white rice or coleslaw. I like having beans or salad with my Peruvian chicken but was out of luck. A quarter chicken comes with 2 sauces; additional sauces are $0.25 each. I've eaten at many of the Peruvian restaurants in the area, and Kikiriki is still my favorite. With so many great Peruvian chicken places nearby, El Pollo Rico just didn't wow me. I doubt that I'll be back. One thing: parking is limited at this location. Many of the folks who were there around the time I was couldn't park if their lives depended on it. Cars were not parked within the lines and two cars were double parked out front. read more
