I always love eating chicken whenever I am in Mexico or South America because they know how to do chicken right. Plus it's really the only type of food from South of the Border that I know my stomach will not have a problem with. Some of the other Latin food I sometimes need to be careful about eating. I found this teatau ant online, and I came right over here during my break. Instead of ordering regular fried chicken, I decided on their baked chicken platter that came with four pieces. A chicken breast, wing, leg, and thigh. The platter also came with a side order of potatoes which also a sure bet for my body. The service was fast, and I basically ate my lunch right there in the restaurant. The chicken was great and I will remember to come back here in the future. read more

El Pollo Rico - Latin American Near Me - Woodbridge, Virginia

I've been a loyal customer of El Pollo Rico for over 30 years, since I was 17 so I know exactly how their Peruvian charcoal chicken is supposed to taste. Unfortunately, the El Pollo Rico Woodbridge, VA location is a huge disappointment. The chicken is consistently dry, over-grilled/burnt and noticeably spicier than it used to be, completely missing that signature flavor. There's nothing worse than dry chicken breast and a hard wing. I went three days in a row just to be sure, and it was the same result every time. This isn't a one-off issue. It's a clear drop in quality. Sadly, I won't be back. Time to find another spot. read more

The food was fine--nothing to complain about there--but the online ordering process was a complete headache. I placed my order through Yelp (fulfilled by Grubhub) and arrived at the restaurant expecting it to be ready. Instead, the order hadn't even been made. I gave the employee my name and showed them my order confirmation, but he just kept shaking his head like it didn't exist. After an awkward few minutes of back and forth, they finally decided to look up my order by my name... and there it was. Why we had to go through this song and dance is beyond me. If the online order system doesn't work smoothly, they either need to fix it or stop offering it altogether. read more

I like el pollo rico but this location is kinda mid. The one in Arlingotn is much better, plus the staff doesn't have love for the gringos

Just a little place off the road but such good food! We lived in Spain for years and it reminds us so much of a restaurant we ate at there. The staff speaks Spanish and are very kind to our family. read more

The food is delicious. Best Peruvian chicken I've had. It wasn't until recently that I found out Woodbridge has a pollo rico and this is my go to for chicken. The white sauce is also amazing. I got the quarter white meal. read more

El Pollo Rico - a chicken and french fries in a styrofoam container - Latin American Near Me - Woodbridge, Virginia

My first time at this location, I was really hungry and pick up 3 meals. it was a half hour before closing, when I walked in the place was packed I thought it was someone's family reunion. The chicken was not tender at all. It could have cooked longer until it became tender, had no seasoning on it or extremely very little such a big disappointment. The coleslaw had a bit too much mayonnaise in it and the sauces that they gave one of them was yellow. The other one was green. The yellow one was straight up mayonnaise and the green, I couldn't tell what the heck it was because it had no flavor to it. I'm sorry I would not go to this place again. read more

Food was ok wasnt what I remembered but ok none the less for the cost. Will try them again

First and last getting this overpriced chicken! At first they give you a price and then they give you this ridiculous "rules" and you end up paying a lot more! The cashier barely speaks to customers, he is just standing there without moving! Chicken is dry, service below average....nananaaaa this place is just a name! Time to go some place else...not good! read more

This place is my go to Peruvian chicken spot for a few years. It also helps that's it's the closest one to my house. Parking can be a little rough sometimes but I can usually find a spot. Also it looks like they might have online ordering now which is helpful but their service is so quick (and friendly) and lines move fast so it's not really necessary. Our go to order is usually a whole chicken, yucca, and rice. The chicken is so juicy/tender, the skin is a little crisp, and it's all seasoned very well. The chickens are pretty big so we get another meal of leftovers. The yucca is fried perfectly and you can get a lot of thick pieces or small crispy ones. Rice is rice usually but it has a buttery taste, maybe they put chicken drippings in it? I wouldn't get the fries because they're steak fries and well the fried yucca is better or the coleslaw (too creamy for me). If you're in the area looking to feed yourself or your family for a decent price, this place is a must. read more

The food is WAY over priced and they are so cheap, they purposefully don't put NAPKINS AND Silverware with an order costing over $50!!! The employees are unwelcoming. Nothing is given with the meal. Everything is charged, sauces and napkins apparently. This is ridiculous. A simple "hello" and "thank you" would suffice. Couldn't receive that. TO TOP EVERYTHING, the chicken is BLOODY AND RAW!!! read more

El Pollo Rico - This chicken is bloody and RAW!!! - Latin American Near Me - Woodbridge, Virginia

Overpriced, small portions, uncooked chicken, and when I complained to the cook that my chicken was red he responded "It's just the bone" basically saying it was okay to just eat it like that. Gave me and my daughter a very small portion of fries which was not enough to share. Gave me 1 green sauce and 1 yellow sauce instead of 2 for each because I asked for a half chicken. The beans and rice seemed days old and was not tasteful. This was my first time there and the last time. Spanish Version.

Never made it past ordering food here. When I asked if they would sell just 1/2 chicken, no sides, I was met with instant rejection. "Same price" and a dirty look was the response I got from the staff here (for half a chicken and NO sides). De Veras?? I walked out only to find that there is a much better and friendlier chicken place right across the street (Charcoal Chicken). You'll find the freshly grilled birds there better due to higher traffic and popularity. Hey, Mr. "SAME PRICE" - take some feedback before you find yourself with "SAME PROBLEM." read more

Happy to find this Peruvian chicken spot in Woodbridge! My co-workers would bring lunch in for the team from the Arlington location, and it was always a hit. The food at this location is just as good. They have a limited menu, so one can expect that they focus on making their food great as opposed to offering a wide variety. They have tender and tasty chicken, the creamiest coleslaw, fries, yucca and rice. They give you green and yellow sauces, which I like to combine and slather on my chicken. So tasty! The space is small, but well lit and maintained, with a few tables and a long counter with seats facing the street. Parking lot is small, so I'd imagine it's a challenge to get in and out during peak periods. read more

El Pollo Rico - Quarter Chicken with coleslaw, fries and sauces - Latin American Near Me - Woodbridge, Virginia

I've been to this location several times already and have had the half chicken with yuca and coleslaw. On a good day, the yuca fries is crisp and soft on the inside and chicken is tender and cooked/flavored just right. My last visit was sub par as the chicken was way over salted and had a feeling of being old. As they've hiked up the price to $16.49 (including tax), I'd expect them to raise their quality and performance. I'm also not happy with the 2 sauce provisioning as one would expect to get twice the amount of sauce for the half chicken since a quarter chicken includes 2 sauces. There are other pollo places that give 4 sauces for half a chicken and charge less by around 25%. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. read more

The decor and the ultra-colorful furniture gives a more child like feel than a place adults eat (kind of like McDonald's back in the day). The napkins are terrible quality, the store brand napkins you get at Walmart are better than the ones they got here. I was out on a kind of date back in February at El Pollo Rico. They used styrofoam plates, and other food accessories, which did lack a professionalism, I think due to the fact they did not want to have the responsibility for doing a lot of dishes. Now with those gripes out of the way I will say the food was high quality, and quite tasty. If you want a healthier alternative to KFC and Popeyes this, is it. The Peruvian Inca Cola was also quite good. If I am in Woodbridge again, I will stop by, I just hope they at least do paper plates and food accessories (though actual glassware would be better), have better quality napkins, and last but not least change the god-awful childish look of the restaurant. read more

El Pollo Rico...if you've been in Woodbridge for a while then you must have heard of them or better yet are here before. However, if you haven't then you're really missing out. It's rotisserie Peruvian style chicken and it's bomb. This place burned down sometime ago but it was rebuilt and thankfully it was! On the inside it has bright colors but it is a small space. Before COVID there were tables set up where you could sit down and enjoy your food. However, these tables are not available during this time. When you walk in, you place your order on the microphone and it's made for you to take home. The menu is small, but it works for them. My family always orders the whole chicken with 2 sides, fries and rice. Although my family prefers double fries, I enjoy the rice! The sauces, green and yellow! Green is spicy and yellow doesn't have a kick at all. I mix both sauces together and eat them on my chicken and it's loovveee! If you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner option, check them out and I promise you won't be disappointed. The chicken is always tender and juicy, even the breasts and that's saying a lot. read more

We were looking for a good Peruvian restaurant while we were in the Potomac Mills area. El Pollo Rico caught our eye and glad we went. They have outdoor sitting which is great on a beautiful day. We ordered a whole chicken and two sides and it was quickly ready to go. The food was served hot and delicious. They currently don't have indoor sitting due to COVID and you need to order through a microphone as you enter the building. Servers were very polite. read more

Buena atencion y servicio, la comida muy buen sabor, pero los platanos a veces los colocan muy pasados de coccion deben mejorar eso...

Incredible Peruvian chicken. Beautiful meals and side dishes. Would totally recommend. Crazily quick service.

Love their chicken, very tasty and that goes with their beans as well! Their serving size is good and prices are great! We just moved in the area and now regulars at this spot read more

Its a small location that i drive by all the time they're also quick and the chicken is soo good. Its seasoned well and not dry either. Another reason i love the food is it being cheap! Enjoyed the food! Chicken was well seasoned and flavorful however the server was rude and dismissive.

One of the best chicken places and has been around for the longest time. Thankfully we don't have to drive to Arlington for it. We have been getting chicken from el pollo Rico for 12 years now and it's consistently good. A whole chicken with just fries and extra sauce. Left over chicken we make quesadillas, taquitos, or chicken salad. Chicken is so good, lots of flavors you can taste the cumin, pepper. If you haven't tried this place you need to, slaw has a bit too much mayo for me. You have to mix the green sauce w the yellow. We come here at least once a month read more

El Pollo Rico - 1/4 chicken w/fries and coleslaw! - Latin American Near Me - Woodbridge, Virginia

This restaurant has been closed for some time because of a fire but it has now reopened and is cooking up the same excellent food they were before the fire. The restaurant itself is a bit austere but they have some of the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had. And I could drink the yellow sauce they serve with it. They always give me strange looks when I ask for an extra 20 or so of they're small containers of it. Major thumbs up and welcome back! read more

Don't trust the 4 stars. This place is really overpriced and very small portions compared to what you find in other places. I've been to multiple Pollo Ricos and this one was super disappointing. I love Peruvian chicken. El Pollo Rico is succulent and rich in flavor. The place is unassuming and nothing fancy, although the TVs are huge. It's all about the chicken here. I always get dark meat but my friend loved their white meat as well. We arrived around 8:30pm and we had to wait around 15 mins for our chicken. Definitely try to call in your order ahead of time. But either way, it's worth the wait. It's dangerous that I found this place since it's on my way home from work. So tempting to stop in and get take out (which I've done a couple of times). Love their chicken so much. read more

Nice flavors in rotisserie sandwich, but meat can be dry. Also, ask for well cooked yucca. Can be underdone and not good. Still, I try to make it by there weekly. read more

"Hey, it's exactly the same!" Actually it's kinda not. Every time I've been to the Arlington location, I've had to wait in a line out the door. There wasn't a line here, but there was a constant flow of people in and out Also, the decor is waaaaaay different. This one actually has somewhat of a real restaurant look to it compared to the bare bones walls in the Arlington location However, the food, which is the important part, is EXACTLY the same. Hooray! read more

I tried this place last Sunday. The chicken and coleslaw were good but I expected the chicken to have more flavor, to be honest. The sauce was okay. The fries were steak fries. I like alfajores but didn't care for the one I got from here. It was crowded and took a while, but overall I enjoyed it. As others have said, the sides are limited: fries, yucca, white rice or coleslaw. I like having beans or salad with my Peruvian chicken but was out of luck. A quarter chicken comes with 2 sauces; additional sauces are $0.25 each. I've eaten at many of the Peruvian restaurants in the area, and Kikiriki is still my favorite. With so many great Peruvian chicken places nearby, El Pollo Rico just didn't wow me. I doubt that I'll be back. One thing: parking is limited at this location. Many of the folks who were there around the time I was couldn't park if their lives depended on it. Cars were not parked within the lines and two cars were double parked out front. read more

It's not Arlington. I didn't love this location. The chicken didn't seem/taste the same. The only positive was that they serve yuca. However, I'd rather have the chicken "right". I'd like to say I'll give it another shot, but I probably won't. I hate to be disappointed when it comes to my eating. Why risk it when I can just go to Arlington. read more
