Wasn't too impressed with this place. I got a 2pc combo breast and wing. The lady taking my order said. "I don't have any wings but I'll give you a leg". I was OK with the substitution, and in the middle of me ordering she just took off running, nothing said just took off. Another guy came and I had to start my order over again. This guy didn't tell me that there was no wings, I didn't ask either. I also ordered an empanada, the guy said "hey you'll get it for free if you take a survey." I agreed. As he is charging me the lady comes back. And starts confirming my order and now she says the breast will take about 5 min. 15 min later she served me. And to my surprise there is a wing! Lol smh not sure if the service is worth going thru for great tasting chicken. BTW no one gave me a survey so no empanada for me... read more

Pollo Campero had some of the best service I've gotten from a fast food location. The man behind the counter was nice, guided me through the menu, and helped me choose what would be best with patience. His co-workers were also very friendly asking me "how are you doing" "everything ok" throughout my meal. The food selection is a mix of South American comfort food with a good selection of healthier choices. I had the grilled chicken bowl with black beans, Rice, and cilantro onions. Their salsas even though it says mild was still pretty spicy. Good all around experience from the farthest chicken joint in Burbank. read more

Their flan would have been great without too much sweetness- one bite and I was done. Everything else I ordered was great especially the fried chicken. One more thing- the corn salad was no longer fresh as far as I can tell. The chicken empanada was excellent, fried plantains and yuca, yum! read more

Worst service ever. Walked into this location at 8:15 pm and as soon I opened the door I notice the cashier on her personal cell, but it was actually the assistant manager Gutierrez. I stood in line for about 5 minutes waiting to be acknowledge but never was. When I walked up to her, she signaled to hold on, she made it clear that her personal phone call was actually more important than my business. First off the location on the site is wrong. This is the actual location of this awful place. 10960 Sherman Way Sun Valley, CA 91352 There needs to be negative stars on here. This place is horrible. I was told not to eat here and I should have listened to that piece of advice. I came here when they first had opened. It use to be lively and smelled good when you walked in. I came in for the second time in a long while and found it to be dead. The smell was not as pleasant as I had remembered. I was greeted by an older lady with tart makeup and her manager gustapo uniform. I had gone through the menu and had not seen anything regarding half a fried chicken. I asked and the lady said it was a different price than what they had. They only had the grilled chicken for the 1/2 chicken option on the menu. So I asked if I could get just a half fried chicken several times after she kept insisting me to get the combo. Then she mentioned that it came with two sides regardless of combo or not. This confused the hell out of me so I said ok and I got the fries and yuca fries. She had mentioned that the yuca fries would take about 4 minutes to prepare. I was thinking ok nice they are going to make those fresh. So after waiting for a while I see her putting in fries in a paper bag then she physically takes some out. I mean really she shorted me on a portion of fries. Not using a glove, nope she didn't care about my health, and she had just handled money with those hands. So I got the order, asked for napkins because of course they always remember to give you some yea right, and left. Once I opened the contents of the ordered I had gotten I found a moldy "dinner roll" as she called it. The fries were stale and I had some deeply fried fries to that were charcoal black. These I tossed out. The yuca fries were soggy. So these were not freshly made they were microwaved. The chicken was bland and had an odd flavor to it. To my surprise some pieces were pink and under cooked. I sighted and felt very sad to have gotten such an awful meal. I don't think I will ever look at chicken the same way. So I preceded to place these in a dish and leave em outside for the cats to eat. I don't know where this place went bad but it is no good anymore. Guess they only had the good stuff when they opened. Avoid an unpleasant experience, over priced half made chicken, and go some where else. This place blows. read more

Placed my order in person, was very specific on my order. I asked for a plain chicken sandwich, they gave it to me with everything. I asked for my sides to be mashed potatoes & beans, I got fries and coleslaw. My chicken was cold and soggy as hell. My fries were so stale. I made the best out of a horrible situation. I came here with some friends one hot Saturday afternon after hitting up the nearby annual Stila warehouse sale. I had never even heard of this place before so I was a bit hesitant, but my opinion quickly changed as I walked in and saw the menu. My eyes were drawn to the fried chicken, black beans, white rice and plantains. Yes, plantains! The best way to describe this place is to compare it to KFC...with a Central American flavor. It was dry and tasteless, and when I asked for another piece; the guy behind the counter dead panned that ALL chicken is cooked for 30 min. Although I LOVE POLLO CAMPERO, it's literally the best fried chicken out there! if you want any kind of decent service stay away from this particular business! In my most recent trip I ordered a family meal with mixed chicken, it contains white meat; the breasts and wings, well anyway when I ordered it the nasty rude manager, some guy with a huge chip on his shoulders, simply told me they had none ready, and when I asked him, in SPANISH, if they could cook some and I would be happy to wait, he simply nodded his head and walked away! Now I've been to this Pollo Campero on Sherman Way several other times, and usually the workers are very rude, but I would always just brush it off, but this was the straw that broke the camels back. So bottom line, although the food is great, if you want to deal with nasty, rude employees, by all means go to this Pollo Campero. read more

Winner, winner chicken dinner! Pollo Campero Well, I have to admit I stumbled onto to this place by accident. I was running errands when I noticed Pollo Campero's sign so I thought, "What the heck I'll give it a try." It was really difficult to eat all of the great tasting fried chicken while kicking myself for never hearing about how good this place is! The chicken is as great-tasting as any other chicken places that get more publicity and hype. Pollo Campero is chicken Guatemalan-style. I didn't know there was a Guatemalan-style chicken as I had gotten accustomed to Pollo Loco as a representative of Latin American-style chicken. Vi ve la difference! This chicken is moist and tender with great flavor and not too thick of a crust. The chicken is best eaten when hot, ideally right there in the restaurant. If you take it home make sure to open the box on the way so it doesn't steam the chicken otherwise it will lose its crispiness. The other must-have item on their menu is yucca fries just make sure they fry you up a fresh batch and ask for it crispy. You will not be disappointed! I just love, love, love Pollo Campero! I have been to 4 locations in the LA area and this location is the best. The manager was so awesome. He was very concerned with our order and was very nice. The chicken is outstanding. I prefer the fried over the grilled. It has a thin crispy crust. Don't do the strips and stick to the original chicken if you are a first timer. The beans are unbelievable!! I almost like them just at much as the chicken. I am so hoping they put one of these restaurants in the Bay Area. read more

I first met the yellow chicken on a TACA flight from San Salvador to LA. Everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - on the plane had a yellow box of chicken. My hubbie and I wondered what we were missing - if it was really good or a smart smuggling tool. Who would search a fried chicken? Anyways, we did the math, found out it was 'the' chicken in central america, and prayed we'd be back to San Salvador to try it. Well, imagine our excitement when we saw the Yellow Chicken sign on Sunset a few months ago. Santa be damned, the Chicken was bringing us tidings of comfort and joy! The NoHo locale of Pollo Campero is nice, it's in the Vallarta grocery store mall at the end of Burbank airport, has plenty of parking and is bright and pleasant. The staff is eager, even if it feels like half the staff is bilingual and the other half doesn't seem comfortable talking in English. But, language barrier be damned, the chicken is great, vastly different than KFC and their rice is a spanish rice blend w/jalapenos as well as their house beans. THey have fried plantains which are yummy. I picked up a couple boxes of PC's pollo for the Ricky Hatton fight viewing and while it was a bit greasy (usually not so) it was tasty. The spices are not overwhelming but tantalizing, and cold, its even better. My faves are the plantains - yes they are yummy yummy! Tortillas are great to good, PC rice and beans are a great and unique side. Cole Slaw is not a home run, but, if you think central america, you don't think cabbage. Salsa's are pretty good and different. Don't be a wimp, try the ones that look good and don't worry re the peppers. It's good for you in the end. hahahahaha read more

This place is super expensive and the workers have bad service/attitude. They are always empty due to the fact they can't deliver any order on time and its always incorrect. They try way to hard, c'mon its chicken. The only reason I came here was because of the supermarket and was hungry. Wish I had Subway or even Fatburger which in the same plaza. FAIL!! read more

If your looking to try a new type of chicken style you should definite try the citrus grilled chicken here. I always pass by pollo campero so one day I decided to surprise my girl with something new. I went in and ordered the citrus grilled chicken with corn tortillas and salsa verde. It came with a side of limes, rice and black beans, and cole slaw. I tried both types of empanadas as well and I said to myself "I should of came here long time ago"! Little did I expect it my girl loved it That a couple of nights later she requested more? The citrus grilled chicken is so flavorful and when you bite it there's actually flavor coming out and your taste buds are exploding with flavor. I make chicken tacos with salsa verde and cilantro with onion and it's off the chain. I eat here at least 3 times a month. My family always ends up finishing the whole chicken. The chicken is quite tasty. Lightly crusted and crunchy from the outside and moist and juicy from the inside. Good selection of sides. I love the food, but the service here is horrible..so I typically only come forgetful of my last experience, only to be quickly reminded why I don't come here more often. Today, I was the only customer in the store with the employees: one regular and two assistant managers (according to their name badges and NOT by their actions). The female assistant manager takes my order, and I ask for fresh cole slaw (I noticed the lid was not on at ALL), we finish my transaction quickly. I see the arrival of the fresh coleslaw and wait at the counter in front of both managers who are now counting the money drawer. I WAIT 10 MINUTES FOR THEM TO FINISH!!!!! So I ask, "What am I waiting for?" She turns around and dips out the coleslaw. When she's done, she's all like "Fresh coleslaw, yes?!" So I say, "Yeahhhhhh, but you didn't wash your hands after counting the money." She takes off to the sink and hides her face until the regular employee puts my order together. So why the long review?? Because I am a restaurant manager. And a chef. For 20+ years, I've worked/cooked/managed every type of kitchen there is. The attitude of these two managers are the reasons people talk shit about the restaurant industry. Those of us who take pride in giving every guest a phenomenal experience feel like they're slapped in the face when the customer service you get is horrible. We know what it takes, and yes we deserve the best dining experience even when we're too damm lazy after a long hard shift to cook and all we want is a bite to eat. read more

The food was great! The combo is a fantastic price. I got the 1/4th grilled chicken combo w/ side of beans+side salad (big) + coke for 7 dollars. The manager asked how's the food and things are... loved explaining the variety of food.. Been in several times for the grilled chicken but they always have excuses why they are out of grill. Today went in . I prefer dark meat but they only had 2 pieces of white meat . Which is more than they ever have. The other times they had no grilled but stacks of fried chicken . If I wanted fried i would go to KFC .
