Good micheladas.... Not the best but will do the trick ... definitely looking forward to my tostada

I should've ordered more! The pupusas are legit the best I've had since I was kid. Fresh curtido, good masa! They even delivered when the app canceled on me. Costa Azul for the WIN

Holy cow! Off on an adventure and popped into this nondescript, run down strip mall for a bite at this Salvadoran/Mexican restaurant. Pretty low key, small, and a small raised stage at the end, it was pretty empty for our late lunch, but I'm guessing it's jumping on the weekends... I am normally not the type to be able to even watch someone eat an entire fried fish with eyeballs, but the whole fried tilapia was one of the best things I've ever tasted. And when we smiled and gave the chef two thumbs up, she came over twice with plates of fresh made smashed plantains for us to enjoy as well. We've already recommended it to several people, and are ready to go back. You can navigate it well without speaking Spanish, but it could help:) Everyone was friendly, and we are ready to go back. May see if there is some good music on the weekend...

Mmmmmm pupusas just like my grammy use to make :) just the perfect amount of cheesy goodness and the masa was a lil crispy too! Free horchata refills and all sorts of authentic goodies like empanadas de platano & yucca frita. Not the greatest looking place (considering the area) but the waitresses are very sweet, service can be a bit slow but ends up being worth it at the end. Here's a tip though.. I prefer going during the weekday if I'm eating there because the last time I went on a weekend (and actually was the last..) it was filled with drunk, immature, stinky young/old men and service was even slower due to the serving of alcohol to these locals. Regardless.. food was great.

It was right next door to my appointment and I thought I'd give it a try while waiting for my mom to finish up with her pedicure. They are $3.50 per tamale and it took approximately 10 minutes for my order of two to come out. I think they were steaming them. The restaurant was quite large and there was only one other customer there at about 4 PM on a Thursday. They had the ARV playing on the TVs and have bar seating. The service was friendly. Tamale is 8.5/10: it's packed with a lot of really fun, filling items, like a green bean, potato, olive, and hominy with white meat chicken. The chicken is a little bit dry. But the tamale is very flavorful!

Carlos gave us some great recommendations so we ended up trying pupusas for the first time. It's made with a homemade corn dough. It's thicker than a regular corn tortilla and stuffed with ground pork and cheese. They have a variety of fillings. You can add salsa roja, a flavorful tomato-based sauce or habanero sauce. Served with Curtido, a tangy, fermented cabbage slaw. So crispy, cheesy and filling. It came burning hot - I could barely hold it. But, I would definitely order this again! We tried Desayuno Típico, a traditional Salvadoran breakfast, which came with casamiento (beans and rice mixed together), Salvadorean style chorizo, fried plantains, 2 eggs, avocado, fresh cheese and Salvadorean style sour cream and homemade corn tortillas. My partner and I came here at night to order four pupusas and yuca frita with chicharrón. It took 40 minutes for the food to come but it finally came out. I'm guessing the yuca frita was forgotten about in the kitchen because it arrived at the same time as our pupusas and it was lukewarm. I took the plate of yuca frita back to the waitress and explained that it was no longer hot. They put it in the microwave and then brought it back to our table. When you microwave chicharrón, it dries out so it was as if I were chewing and trying to rip apart rubber. The pupusas were freshly made but mediocre in flavor at best. The only reason I gave this a two star review was because the other clients were singing karaoke and overall setting up really good vibes and was enjoyable. But the service and food don't even deserve two stars, this was not worth $41.
