I have eaten food from here twice now and both times have been phenomenal! The first time, my boyfriend and I made a larger take-out order of just pupusas to bring to a Friendsgiving. This time, I ordered two pupusas and then their pastelitos. Pasteles de res. First things first- the restaurant is easy to find and parking isn't too bad! There are some spots in the back, but I've found street parking easily both times I've gone. Inside, the restaurant is decorated with all sorts of nods to El Salvador, including a super iconic soccer jersey and even some Salvi beers. The workers were all friendly and accommodating. The food is GREAT!! The pupusas are good. Cortido is awesome. I really liked the pasteles, even though I've only had handmade before, so I was skeptical, but they were so good, I devoured way more than I meant to!! I really did mean to have leftovers from my order, but I only have one remaining pastele- they come with three to an order. I will continue ordering from here and hopefully I'll have a chance to eat at the restaurant next time! So good! read more

This place was delicious! We ordered pupusas, caldo de gallina india, caldo de pata, plátanos con frijoles, and everything was great. The cheese on the pupusas was a bit salty for me but everything else was amazing. Go with ALOT of patience as they do take a bit to bring out the food. Service was a bit slow, I think they should hire another server. The place is cute! It was good for our big group. We were still able to talk and laugh. My bf and I ordered takeout from here once before but decided to dine in for the first time most recently. They have a small parking lot in the alley out back but we've always lucked out with street parking. We came here to watch the club World Cup qtr finals (Real Madrid v Dortmund). Initially they weren't showing the game. When we asked if they could, the staff was very kind and accommodating. We ordered their cheese, chicharron, and shrimp pupusas. We devoured everything, even the curtido - nothing goes wasted! Their shrimp pupusa has easily become one of our favorites. I also ordered their strawberry banana smoothie - delicious. We got the yuca frita con chicharron to go and it was gone once we got home haha. This is a great place for groups, especially to watch games. I was so pleased they didn't load us up with any automatic chips and salsa that would have filled us up by the time the enormous beautiful portions of our meals arrived. Was open on Christmas Day which was spectacular and a life saver! Our waitress was very nice and even though she spoke limited English I got to practice my Spanish so that was cool We got this botanic dish that had steak, shrimp and chicken It was pretty good but not going to lie a bit dry and wish it had some sort of salsa or sauce She did bring over a hot sauce with it but it was crazy spicy, I love cholula/tapatio and those kinds of sauces and this one was way more spicy than those So my food was sadly a bit bland But the drinks were cool, I like how she rimmed my beer cup without tajin without having to ask her And my bf got this fruit drink that had a bunch of cut up fruit in it and it was super refreshing and yummy! read more

If you like El Salvadoran food, this is the place to come. If you have never tried El Salvadorian food, this is the place to come! The interior is huge and gorgeous, with a lot of beautiful artistic touches. The outdoor patio is also beautiful, comfortable, and completely shaded. Menu is very large! Breakfast, seafood, Pupusas, alcohol, house specials, and all the typical El Salvadorian dishes. I love Pupusas, and theirs are fantastic. for those who don't know: Pupusas are small, round corncakes, like a flatbread that is made with corn flour and filled with cheese and beans or meat, cooked on a hot griddle and served with salsa roja, a Salvadorian red sauce. These were perfectly fried, the cheese was rich and melty, and they have such good variety. We got queso (cheese), Revuelta (pork and cheese), pollo (chicken), loroco (a vine with edible flowers), and ayote (winter squash). Delicious. Service is really nice! I want to go back and try their Mariscos. I also want to try their fajitas. Love all of the artistic decor, especially the gorgeous sink made out of a giant shell. The bench made out of driftwood when you first walk in is also amazing. The parking lot in back is small but has four spaces. I hate paying for parking and I refuse to pay for valet parking, so I appreciate places that have little free parking lots. Located on Burbank just off of Vineland by Circus Liquor, this is the best El Salvadorian food I've had in a while in an unexpectedly nice setting. read more

Best pupusas in the area! The menu has some of the best Central American/ Mexican food. Puchica - I have driven by this place dozens of times and I looked at their reviews and they looked good so I decided to check them out. For context - my parents are from El Salvador, my mother sells Salvadorian food, and I have eaten Salvadorian food in El Salvador as well as all over the U.S. so I have a lot of context on good food from El Salvador. Today I only got 4 pupusas and a pan con pollo to try them out. The pupusas were quite large and very tasty revuelta pupusas. I would give them an A grade. Some of the better ones I have had in Los Angeles which is a capital of Salvy food outside of El Salvador given how many of us live here. The restaurant space is easily the nicest I have seen in Los Angeles. Most Salvy spots are kind of "holes in the wall" but this space is quite nice and has large tables for group gatherings (naturally). I think this is a legit place with really good Salvy food. One word: YUM!!! Holy crap, this place is just amazing. We were in search of delicious pupusas and an awesome patio and we hit the jackpot!!! We got yucca frita which were very crispy and the slaw was so fresh! We got both a bean and cheese & pork and cheese pupusa... they were seriously cooked to perfection!! The corn tamale was okay, not my favorite but my boyfriend enjoyed! To drink a sweet tea that was perfectly sweet and horchata that was amazing. Went here for the first time with my Salvadorian friend. She has been a frequent customer for some time and has been recommending it to me. We decided it was time for some "tea time" and what better than with some pupusas. I was extremely impressed of the inside. It was not what I was expecting it to look like. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and clean. There is a bar with all types of alcohol. It's a very nice place for a drink and some good food. They have a lot of delicious food that I will go back to try. Being a true Salvadorian the first thing I needed to try were the pupusas and they didn't disappoint. I do not eat anything spicy and unfortunately the curtido was spicy for my liking but the salsa was perfect. The pupusa was nicely stuffed with a good portion of chicharron, cheese and beans (Revuelta). They make their revuelta pupusas with only cheese and the pork but you can ask to add beans as that's how I was raised having it. I also ordered the pastelists de carne de res and they were AMAZING. I would honestly just go back for them. To drink I ordered an ensalada and it was very refreshing. We also ordered atole de elote and it was delicious. I am eager to go back. The only thing that made the experience not get the 5 stars was the service. The only waitress that was there was a little rude but then again it may be just the way she is. She wasn't as friendly as she could be but then again her service was a lot better than the Salvadorian restaurant that is a few shops up, Izalco. We always come here and never had an issue with ordering for pickup or dine in. We ordered a pan con pollo for pickup and I took a bite out of the sandwich and almost broke a tooth. These people put a whole drumstick with THE BONE in the sandwich. I did not originally see it because it was covered with lettuce. Mind you that was all the chicken inside. When I called to complain they told me that's how it comes. That's a lie because I've ordered this many times before and the chicken is always shredded. The girl told me they never shred it and I told her I've had it many times and she told me I was lucky because that's not how they do it normally. I come to the establishment three times. Every time I've come it's been later in the evening. The servers are nice attentive. They are quick to come and get my order and drink to me quickly. I usually come alone so they give me my space which I appreciate. The establishment is very large and very pretty. It looks like they probably get busy during dinner time. I normally come later in the evening so it's usually just me or a couple other diners. It would be a good place to have a little celebration. I see they have one table that can fit easily 12 people. Whenever I come I eat the Pupusa. Every time I come they've been solid and I'll likely come back to keep eating them. I haven't really explored the menu but I'm OK with just getting pupusa's here. I always come here to pick up pupusas and yucca frita. The horchata is delicious. I order for pick up and they always have my food ready.

I kept going back and forth on wether or not to write this review, but I figured that I would warn other families wanting to visit. From the reviews and pictures you would think that this is a nice family establishment, however, once arriving you'd realize that it's not. You walk in to a relatively dark restaurant that has a night club feel despite it being ~ 11am, you notice the main wall "epically" stocked with hard liquor, and then a nice waitress comes out from behind the counter to lead you to a table, but to your surprise you look down and realize that she's wearing booty shorts. You look around and realize that there are only men in the establishment, eating by themselves and it becomes clear that they are probably here for the eye candy. To top it off, there was one other couple that appeared to be engaging in "affair" type behavior (not awkward at all when you're trying to enjoy a nice breakfast with your recently widowed mom, husband, and toddler.) Then waitress number 2 arrives and she is also wearing what now appears to be the required dress code: booty shorts. Then there's the food. My mom did not like the coffee she said it was very weak and didn't taste Salvadoran. And unfortunately our eggs,platanos, and carne Asada were swimming in oil. The flavor was pretty good though and I really enjoyed the hand made tortillas and authentic horchata. I did not enjoy the headache from the excess oil that my husband and I experienced for the rest of the afternoon though. The verdict: if this review sounds like your cup of tea, then you will thoroughly enjoy the ambiance here BUT, if you're looking for a nice family restaurant with a clear indication of morals this might not be that place for you. I think it would be helpful if the owners made it clear what population they are aiming to attract and serve; Men and women looking for some semi-adult entertainment while they eat, or actually catering to families wanting to visit a decent Salvadoran restaurant with their loved ones. I wish them luck and success and sincerely wish they had higher standards so that my family and friends might have a nice local restaurant to frequent. read more

If you live in the area and don't eat here, you are blowing it! The food is so good. The prices are fine, everything is pricey now but by comparison to the new hipster pizza joint next door this place is cheap, and the service takes a while but everybody is so nice so it's fine to wait. Their pupusas are giant, delicious, and reheat great if you get them to go. Their taquitos are hand rolled and come with the best beans I've ever had in my life. Everything there is good! Many people there do not speak English, so be ready to fumble through ordering if you don't speak Spanish (which we all should, living in LA). They are very patient with that part too. Come here. I can't believe that I didn't come to this restaurant for pupusas when I used to live in the area. No I make an effort to come visit this place a few times a month. One of my favorite bars is down the street, so I make this my 1st stop before going there. I usually like to call my orders ahead of time because depending on how busy they are inside, it can take up to 30 mins for them to have your food ready. I usually go for revueltas or cheese pupusas. I would say that these are also made in a pretty good size, and two fill me up. If you're ever in the mood for a sweet drink with chopped fruit (apple, cantaloupe, pineapple) I strongly recommend the drink called "ensalada". It will have added sugar, but it's super delicious and refreshing. read more
