Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe
Vincent P.

It was our first night in Rome and we came straight here for dinner after dropping off all of our luggage at the hotel. We made a reservation for 8 PM and were promptly seated upon arrival. The service was great and everyone was super friendly. We knew that we wanted two orders of pasta, so we picked the Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe and Rigatoni di Gragnano alla Carbonara. The Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara were both very delicious and full of flavors. We especially enjoyed the carbonara, the sauce was excellent! I wanted to try the Saltimbocca alla Romana con Prosciutto Crudo e Salvia since it was a popular Roman dish, and for some veggies, we got the Carciofo Piastrato con Citronette al Prezzemolo which is artichoke. We enjoyed the artichoke, it was filled with tasty flavors. As for the saltimbocca, I thought it was just okay, I wasn't big on the taste. Good for a try, but I wouldn't order it again. Overall, this was a great spot for our first meal in Rome. The portions may look small, but it all makes for quite a filling meal. Definitely order the pastas, they were excellent. I can recommend the artichoke as well, but pass on the saltimbocca.

Tiramisu

I saw this place online and was pleasantly surprised! It was tucked away but the restaurant itself was very well kept and nice. I ordered the carbonara, tiramisu, and an aperol spritz and everything was AMAZING. The carbonara was incredible, definitely a must get!! Everything costed around $30 US dollars which is totally a steal for the quality of the food. The service was also great, my waiter was very attentive and sweet. Would absolutely recommend and go again on my next trip to Rome!

very cute little spot in rome! the exterior is very lovely and has wonderful greenery, and is nestled in a busier district but is in its' own quiet little corner. it has an intimate interior and a luxurious feeling! service was good and relatively fast, waiters were not as attentive but it was ok! the bread was very good, it was sourdough, which i find is rare in europe, but i wish that they had some butter or oil, which was offered to other customers but not us. we ordered one item off the seasonal menu and one item off their regular menu (ordered october 2025). the seasonal menu item was a pumpkin pasta, which had a delicious nutty and sweet flavor, and was a good portion size. the other item we ordered i preferred more, it was a smaller item on the antipasti section, but it was very good! it was an eggplant cube that tasted alot like lasagna, with a nice crisp outside with a cheesy interior! overall, good flavors and they are good at what they do, with very reasonable price points for the quality of the meal, but nothing too exciting.

The food was excellent and the restaurant had a nice vibe to it. However, we felt the wait staff was not at the level you would expect from a high end restaurant.

Nice little cozy spot located in an underspending alley just minutes away from the Spanish steps. This little gem has a well crafted wine menu and a solid choice of fresh handmade pastas. Worth a look if you're in the area...

Had an excellent lunch here after spending time at the Pantheon and surrounding area. This restaurant is tucked away and nestled in an alleyway, making it all the more exciting when you actually find it. Very upscale and intimate. I had the bruschetta and a pasta, both were quite nice. Good wine selection but I opted for water at this lunch. There was construction outside so dining on the patio wasn't a viable option (though they were seating people outside). I'd recommend calling ahead for reservations and requesting indoors.

It truly was an excellent dining experience. From the moment you walk in and are seated, the staff makes it their top priority takes care of you. The food is all well prepared, and the menu rotates so I'd suggest asking your waiter for recommendations.

One of the best pastas I've had in my life! The waiters were really excited to explain what went in the dish and our server was very gentlemanly with a wonderful sense of humor. I felt really welcomed and I loved the restaurant's environment. I would definitely go back again, one of my favorite restaurants I've visited in Rome so far!

Exquisite food. We ordered the fried vegetables, baccalà chips cacio e pepe. All delicious. Then we ordered two rigatoni alla gricia, rigatoni all amatriciana and saltimbocca alla romana. They were sublime. Highly recommended

A beautiful and delicious way to end our trip to Rome. Exquisite food in a lovely dining room.

As a Michelin reviewed restaurant, I had high expectations for Poldo. First, make sure you get a reservation as there will mostly likely be a long line if you try to show up without one; you will surely get turned away. Even with my reservation, I did have to wait a few minutes to be seated and even longer to get the service started. If I had a negative to this place, it would be the service and the family running it get stretched thin trying to keep the many tables served efficiently. Luckily, the food made up for the off-service as I got the amatriciana which was very good. I have zero complaints to the food or the bread served. This is worth a stop... just have a reservation and be patient with the service.

Beautifully done Michelin recommended restaurant. Come hungry and sample the whole menu. We made a reservation a month ahead of time for the outside and we're glad we did. Even thought Rome was really hot the patio was in the shade and perfect. We asked for recommendations on food and we were very impressed with everything. We loved the buratta ravioli and the bruschetta the best. The best way to do this is family style so you get a bigger sampling. 5 stars for the service as well!

What an amazing meal we had at this establishment. If I could give 10 stars I would. The restaurant has outdoor dining as well as indoor dining, being that it was very hot we chose to dine inside. The waiter was excellent, he explained the menu and was able to provide some great suggestions. The food is absolutely delicious along with the presentation. For starters we had the cod fish croquettes which were served with an eggplant cream sauce. This appetizer was absolutely delicious. These were the best croquettes I have had. For my entree I had the braised beef served with white radicchio. What a combination. The beef was so tender and delicious. I was super pleased with my meal. I also ordered a side of peppers with garlic and chili which added the right level of heat to accentuate the meal. My girlfriend ordered a zucchini lasagna served with a lamb ragú which was absolutely ridiculously good. Both meals excellently made. To top off our meal we had a dessert which was made out of a pastry crumble with some cream which was perfect. What a meal. Definitely check out this place, it is off the beaten path but you will not regret it.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

Would definitely return.

Our family of four was waiting to be seated when a local family of four arrived after us and was seated immediately. We were eventually seated right next to them, and they were served bread while we were ignored and received none. We ordered wine that was never brought to the table, and at one point a waiter who was not even serving us removed our wine glasses after we had already ordered the wine. The service throughout the meal was chaotic and rude. The artichoke dish was extremely bland -- no seasoning and no flavor at all. Most of the food was greasy and disappointing. To make matters worse, we were seated directly next to the kitchen where the cooks and waiters were loudly arguing throughout our meal. We understand that service in Italy is often slower and more relaxed, and we have enjoyed wonderful hospitality everywhere else during our trip. However, this was by far the worst service we experienced anywhere in Italy. We were even asked if we wanted the bill before we had finished eating, while the local family next to us remained seated comfortably long after finishing their meal. We left feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. Unfortunately, this restaurant seemed interested only in serving locals well. If you are not Italian, do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. We absolutely do not recommend this place.

Great food and great service. Staff was fantastic and could not have had a better experience.read more

We split a salad that was big enough for a meal, my wife had the bolognese, and I had the steak. It was super rare, but as I cut into it, I would lay it onto the stone to allow it to cook a bit more. I like it on the lean side of medium rare and my wife prefers a bit more. This was perfect for us to both enjoy it the way we like. Her pasta was excellent as well and we enjoyed sharing the meal. A bottle of wine topped off a great dinner. The weather was rainy so we opted to sit inside and it was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful with our choices and we enjoyed his observations. The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to tip a few euros because we enjoyed ourselves so much, but decided not to because of the way it was presented to the party before us.

He was upset with the host because he had burned the plastic on the outdoor tent as he had placed a heater too close to it. To be honest, he seemed like a bit of a jerk, but his food was freaking delicious.

It is a large restaurant and was full of lively patrons. The indoor decor is warm and inviting. The first thing I noticed was the camaraderie between the waitstaff - everyone seemed to get along, helped each other and were having fun. We had 2 wonderful Filipino waiters. One had the same Ray-Ban meta glasses as my husband, which they bonded over. We ordered the bombolotti carbonara and lasagna-both delicious. For the mains, grilled Turbot (which was perfectly de-boned tableside) and meatballs w/ mashed potatoes. While the waiter was de-boning the fish, the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver came on overhead. My husband and I both looked at each other and smiled, thinking WTH?! I asked the waiter, "did we tell you we were from West Virginia?" and he smiled and shook his head. But later confessed, he played it for us (I guess we did tell him, lol). It made our night. Rome was the last city in our multi-city 12 day tour and we loved every minute but we were looking forward to going home. Hearing "Country Roads" at a popular and busy restaurant a block away from the Spanish Steps blew our minds. A young couple sat next to us for a quick snack, I asked her what she ordered (it looked delicious) and she said "Im from a different part of Italy but come here just for their artichokes". A few minutes later, I saw a plate full of artichokes pass by, being brought to a table outside. They made my mouth water. Al 34 was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy -- wonderful food (extensive menu), very lively with a mixed crowd (lots of Asians, English speakers and native Italians). It is a fun place to go and the wait staff is one of the reasons I will be coming back. I cant wait to try their artichokes! If you see the word, carciofo (artichoke), order it!
