Lemon meringue pie that will ruin every other lemon meringue pie for you. The balance of sweetness to sour was perfect.
    Christine S.

We were super excited to try out this restaurant based on all the reviews I read before going to Roma and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was really knowledgeable and explained all the dishes we had questions about. Every dish was great but there were a few that I still think about. First, the porcini mushrooms were out of this world. Not overcooked and not over seasoned. Second, tortellini en brodo. This is the Italian hug in a bowl you didn't know you needed but now that you've had it, you can't stop wanting it. The broth was so complex in flavor. The tortellini filling was exquisite. My son and I have vowed to learn how to make it so we don't have to go without. Thirdly, the fresh pasta with ragu...can you say PERFECT! Pasta cooked perfectly and served with just the right amount of sauce. Lastly, the lemon meringue tart/pie. I'm not normally a meringue fan but this one wasn't too sweet, not too dry. The crust was even great. Needless to say we left super full and content. This place deserves all the accolades it gets and more. This is will on our list for the next time we are in Roma.

Prior to visiting Italy, I had read a review about Colline Emiliane and missed out on making a reservation before arriving. As a result I figured I missed out. By chance I walked by Colline Emiliane while doing my touristy activities visiting the Spanish Steps nearby. I saw the line and met a few friendly tourists waiting on line as walkins. The conversation was great and as a result, ended up waiting with them for what seemed like an eternity to get inside. One thing about Italy is that the food is incredible everywhere and Italians know how to make liver taste extraordinary. A little olive oil, some shallots, liver sliced thinly, seared rare topped with the finest droplets of balsamic vinegar and you have a dish I will never ever turn down. I'm sure the meat was sourced locally and handled properly all the way to my table. The mashed potatoes that accompanied the dish was incredibly rich. A bowl of bolognese was also undeniably yum as well. It is clear that this a family restaurant and they take customer interactions seriously. I was greeted warmly when I arrived and the same upon leaving. In between the service and food was outstanding, Colline Emiliano is a definite visit on any trip to Rome.

Wow wow wow! Amazing little Italian restaurant down acquaint cobblestone Street. All the pastas are home made by the owners mother so pillowy soft so delicately made so delicious! We had the gnocchi de Zucca . Not salty, warm creamy, soft delicious! The truffle makes the dish. We also ate the meat tortellini. Delicious. The cream sauce was so good we can't cannot wait to come back again! We recommend this restaurant again and again you don't wanna miss it if you're in Rome!

Colline Emiliane is a must if you're visiting Rome, but be sure to make a reservation. They only have 2 seatings per day. You can try to get lucky if there is a cancellation or people finish early. We made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and got a 9:15pm seating on a Friday night. Pasta was amazing! So fresh and made right there. We have the spinach ravioli and tagliatelle. You honestly can't got wrong with ANY of the pasta there. Our server was a little slow and forgot a few things. Love how casual it is and for being Michelin restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

This spot shifts the regional culinary spotlight from Lazio around Rome to the northerly region of Emilia-Romagna that spreads above Florence between the coasts. Freshness and simplicity reign. Pasta is made with eggs and are fresh, not dried, often stuffed and served with Parmigiana, not Pecorino. Pasta is the star of the show. Opened in 1931 in an unassuming back alley, this place has accommodated the likes of Fellini, Antonioni, Mastroianni and others. We shared antipasti delle colline emiliane, which were fresh and tender examples of varieties of salumi plus unexpected treats like mousse di mortadella. It went nicely with a bottle of 2020 Nero d'Avola red wine and a liter of San Pellegrino acqua frizzante. As main courses, two of us ordered the Ravioli di Zucca in butter/sage sauce and the third took Tagliatelli con porcini, both of them culinary harbingers of autumn. Dessert brought us Mousse di zabaione, Tiramisu con fragioline, and Tarte di fragolini con meringhe, which together created a sweet conclusion to an exquisite meal. Read more at: https://www.painperdutravel.com. At 139 euros for 3, it topped our restaurant expenditures but remained in the moderate range for 3 courses. Service was efficient and unobtrusive and seating was cozy.

Getting in touch with them to make a reservation was a bit tough but our hotel was able to call and get us situated for our last meal in Italy. Throughout the trip, all we could think about is how much we missed the food from our previous Italy trip, in Tuscany and Milan so Colline Emiliane was a very welcome change of pace. The service was great as was the wine. The food itself was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfect, the fillings and sauces were delicious. The true stars were the ravioli and the truffle gnocchi but in delicate sauces but bursting with flavors. The angolotti was good but there was a bit too much broth. The Tiramisu to finish it off was nice as well! Add this to your list if you can!!

Food was delicious, the pasta was the best! The wine that our server recommended paired perfect with our meal. The atmosphere was great, hope to return.

Called and made a reservation the day prior. Which is soooo necessary. The restaurant is small and after being seated essentially every party that came in after me were told the restaurant was full for lunch and essentially turned away. With that out the way I can understand why this place is so hyped. Probably one of my favorite meals in Rome. I'm not typically a fan of gnocchi because they're usually too dense but I couldn't resist gnocchi and truffles so I just went for it. The gnocchi at this place were little pillows of heaven. So fluffy. So chewy. So light. The way i imagine gnocchi is supposed to be like. Service was top notch. No qualms about it. If you're in Rome and you're able to .. definitely try to add this place to the agenda.

The restaurant opens at 12:45pm. You need a reservation. They turned a family of three away. We asked at our hotel if they would make a reservation for 1:00pm. Was told the reservation would be called at 12:45pm when they opened. We got there at 1:00pm and they didn't have our name. Informed them that the hotel was to have called. After a few minutes he gave us the table by the front door. Other tables were empty but reserved. Wifey ordered and enjoyed the tagliatelle. I had ravioli with spinach and sausage, all homemade. Very good tasting. I could see a woman cutting the freshly made spaghetti via an enclosed window. My ravioli had different shapes. Pretty cool. Yummy. Ordered a dish of spinach and a bread basket. They never arrived. Two glasses of wine and a nice desert of tiramisu. After a while all the restaurants seem to look the same but it's the taste and enjoyment that's important. Rated this a 4 since we didn't get to enjoy all of the food we ordered. Maybe next time. Still worth the trip but make that reservation day or night. It fills fast.

fuego fuego ! goodluck getting a reservation. i walked in and luckily the person cancelled so i was able to take their table! i got truffle gnocchi and milk braised veal with mashed potato. it was 10/10 i ate all of it the downside is that it's very small and has like 10 table so there is no way to get a seat and also people keep calling nonstop so all you hear is the telephone ringing to make reservations in advance i would come here again! it's in a random alleyway

Some of the best pasta we had in Italy. The pumpkin ravioli was the star dish for us. We saw this dish featured in Bloomberg as a pro chef's favorite pasta in Italy, The rum cream dessert with caramelized nuts was ridiculously good . We loved this place so much we went back the next day. You definitely need to call ahead for a reservation.

All these dishes got rave reviews from the table.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

The tomatoes were fresh and juicy but the burrata was a bit thick (referring to the outer aspect). Also the bread was a bit tough. I think you can get a very similar possibly better pasta in Rome without the wait. My girlfriend got the gnocchi pasta, which she said was a 7/10. The gnocchi was great, but again the sauce wasn't anything special Tiramisu, 10/10. This was amazing. It was sweet without being overpowering. The ladyfingers weren't soggy, and had that strong espresso taste. I would come back here just for this dessert. Also if you don't like cramped spaces, probably not the best spot. Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
