My fiancé and I came to Roscioli because he had researched it as one of the must-visit spots in Rome, and my friend who lives in the city also frequents it (she said it can be tough to get a reservation). We tried walking in first, but they were closing after lunch and shut down between lunch and dinner, so we booked a reservation for a couple days later. We visited in late February, and it felt a little less busy than usual, according to our waiter. We're from Los Angeles, and honestly, this ended up being one of our favorite meals in Rome. Everything we ate was delicious. We ordered the gnocchi with pork belly (the gnocchi was amazing). The pork belly was a bit too fatty for my personal taste, but my fiancé loved it. We also had a vegetable plate with a balsamic infusion that was so flavorful and beautifully done -- tomatoes, peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, eggplant, onions -- everything tasted fresh and intentional. And the bread was excellent too. Ambiance is super cute and cozy! Overall, the food, quality, and experience totally lived up to the hype. November 11, 2024 3PM Highly anticipated restaurant. I only pre-booked here and Incantum before arriving in Rome. Kept seeing this restaurant pop up with local Italian chefs' recommendations. Feeling a bit tourist trappy but their food was oh-so-delightful. We started with the bread basket and a bottle of Chianti. Appetizers - Maialino del Chianti - slow cooked pulled pork with olives and pickled vegetables. It's a cold dish but the meat was tender and flavorful. Trippa della Tradizione Romana - Roman tripe stew. This was so tender and succulent, definitely a little tripe scenty for those who don't eat innards. Pastas - Tagliatella - tagliatelle tossed with hare ragu, dried porcini mushrooms and saffron. My first bunny dish ever. Amatriciana - traditional Roman dish but with gnocchi. I had made reservations here about a week or so before because supposedly the carbonara is the best in Italy. I thought it was decent, but not the best. What was amazing was the ravioli though, it had oxtail filling and was so good. The bread basket had a variety of breads and was amazing. I mean... Wowsers. We had a reservation for 9:30pm and huddled up outside with other patrons who also had that time slot. Then sure enough they let us all in. It's seems like if you don't have a reservation, you pretty much aren't getting in. We sat near the deli side and can see the endless amounts of cheese and meats for sale. Service was a bit slow, but no complaints as we were served with our complementary bread which included a variety of breads like an olive one and a walnut bread . The menu is pretty large and the options seem endless. They also have a couple of seasonal items which sounded amazing. However, this time we chose to go with a couple of staple items. For the appetizer we went with the FIOCCHETTO, MELONE E PRIMOSALE - the melon was sweet and juicy the crispy aged ham had a great amount of flavor and salt, and the cheese was fresh and creamy. Best combo of flavors! For our mains we chose the CACIO E PEPE - cheesy and black pepper heavy RAVIOLO DI CODA E PECORINO - the foie gras sauce with fig compote is one of kind. So delicious! We spent eight days in Italy and our lunch at Roscioli was one of the best meals of our vacation. If you're visiting Rome, make sure to snag a reservation well in advance. I wanted to go for dinner but was lucky to get a table for 12:30 on a Tuesday, the only workable slot available five days ahead of our trip. We showed up early, only to learn the restaurant was closed until 12:30, and there was a small crowd gathered outside by the time the front door opened. All of us had reservations for that first seating, and we were let in as quickly as possible, in a reasonably orderly manner. Roscioli is quite popular, it turns out, and they know how to handle a full house. The place was tremendously charming. We walked past the deli area--a well-stocked little retail space with tantalizing displays of wine and cheese and salumi--to a lovely dining area packed tight with tables. Service was on the inattentive side, but efficient and friendly. The staff was constantly on the move attending to all the people who'd just sat down all at once, and it seemed best not to need anything off schedule. There was a robust drink list, and we had a couple rounds to go with our lunch. I started with the Roscioli Cocktail "Aridaje," not knowing what it was but happy to try what seemed like the house cocktail. It turned out to be a lightly bitter, refreshing mix of vermouth, bitters, cacao, and sour cherries, finished with orange slices. My husband had a glass of "Mimmo" Vino Rosso, which was also great, and we ended up copying each other for our second round. The menu was overwhelmingly long, with at least twenty things on it I very much wanted to eat. We got help from our waiter, who set us up with half-size platters of prosciutto, salumi, and cheese so we could try as many meats and cheeses as possible. Our meal kicked off with a complimentary appetizer, a soft, lush morsel of sheep ricotta topped with a flavorful pesto. Then we got the house bread basket from the Roscioli family bakery, a varied heap of fresh bread, including my favorite, a focaccia studded with olives. The meat and cheese made up the bulk of our meal, and we were glad we were able to get smaller sizes of the platters on the menu. We got a duo of prosciuttos plus a generous salumi spread that included, among others, bresaola, capicola, and mortadella with black truffle. Every cut was delicious. We were in cured meat heaven. The house cheese selection was wonderful, too, all of them cured in Roscioli's Tuscan cellars. They came with a sharp, fruity mostarda that went great with both the cheese and the meat. We shared one pasta, the tortellini classici bolognesi "fatti a mano"--handmade tortellini stuffed with meat and tossed with sweet Echiré butter. I guess because of the "bolognesi" I'd expected some kind of tomato sauce, but it was as advertised, meaty packets of tortellini tossed in butter. Not my ideal pasta, but very good nonetheless. We skipped dessert, with gelato in mind, but got nice little cookies with our check. They were shaped like donuts and came with a chocolate sauce for dipping. I live across the world, but I fully intend to go back to Roscioli. Next time, I'll get one of those Amatriciana pastas I saw going around, and even more salumi, and more cheese, and anything else I can fit in my body. read more

Took advantage of their summer truffle special menu and ordered "beef carpacio from Piemonte with summer truffle" Truffle was served as flakes rather than slices. I offered to pay more and asked them if they can serve slices of truffle instead. However communication did not go very well. I was impressed by the quality of beef though. It was very fresh damn tasty beef. Wait staff recommended Merlot to go with carbonara which I thought it was an interesting pair. It worked out somehow well with guanciale in my carbonara. Roscioli had been in my periphery for a while - not because of this location in Roma, but rather the one they opened in NYC. While I am yet to make it to the location in the States, I thought it would be a great place to dine for our last full day in Roma. It proved easier said than done, though, as this is a popular restaurant and tables book quickly. I got lucky though, and was able to book a late afternoon reservation with only a couple days notice - so we planned for an early dinner and off we went. Roscioli technically has two locations within close proximity to each other - a quick-service deli, and sit-down restaurant a few doors away. Our table was for 2:30pm, so we arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation and found a crowd of people waiting outside. We soon learned that everyone had a table for the same time as us, and after a short wait they opened the door and started letting us in. The restaurant is separated into different sections - the front area houses the main deli showcase where a lot of the food they use is stored, there are a few tables arranged along the perimeter. There's also a small back area with more tables arranged, as well as the wine cellar with even more tables. We were seated downstairs in the wine cellar, which IMO is the best place to sit as it doesn't seem as cramped as upstairs (though it is a little cozy there as well). The menu is Italian food with Roman influences, and because it's a salumeria there's a number of meats and cheeses available as well. I gotta give a shoutout to the bread basket as it was the most impressive one we had in Italy - great variety of carbs, I was living my best life. We decided to start with two apps. We got the bis del nostro maritozzetto romano which was filled with pork and drizzled with pesto; we also got the crostino which was topped with sausage, a parmesan mayo, and herbs. Both were good, super fresh and the flavors complemented each other well. We also got some mozz which came with sun dried cherry tomatoes; this was excellent - it was DOP and I tasted every bit of it. Honestly some of the best mozz I've ever had and those cherry tomatoes really just took it to a whole other level - UGH so good. For my main I went with pasta - I decided on the tortellini which were served in a light cream sauce. This was delicious - the pasta was cooked al dente and even though it was cream sauce it didn't stuff me nor leave me plodding through Roma after we left; it was a premier plate of pasta. We decided to grab dessert, so I went with a cannoli. It was big and I could tell it was filled to order since the shell was nice and crispy - as good as any excellent cannoli I've had elsewhere. Service was great - everyone was very nice and food came out at a good pace. Overall, Roscioli was great - this was one of the best dining experiences I had in Italy. The food was excellent and I consider myself lucky I was able to snag a table here. A hot tip - be sure to read the reservation instructions carefully as it does require action on the diner's part even after you book a table on their website (specifically for dinner). It's worth it though - I would have no qualms recommending this place to anyone visiting Roma. read more

We got reservations in the Wine Cellar, this is the place you want to dine. When you walk in to the restaurant notice the food counter to your left and the wine to your right, this is an authentic Italian Restaurant. As you walk down the steps in to the cellar it takes you back in time. Then you end up surrounded by hundreds of wine bottles! We stared of with some wine with some cheese and bread. We had Raviolo Di Coda E Pecorino, full of flavor, it was amazing! And the Gnocchi All' Amatriciana, it was the best I have ever had! Daniel our server was amazing! Popular spot. There's a bar and store inside this small restaurant. When we got there we saw a queue of people with reservations like us and everyone piled in within the first few minutes. The menu is vast and overwhelming. Service was ok. It seemed like our server was in a big rush. We joked that you got 5 seconds of his time and then he had to go. They have this wonderful bread but I think that was the best item on the menu and we ordered a lot of food. Yes, yes you have to visit. The lines out the door are worth it. Our hotel was right next door and it's a quick and grab pizzeria/ bakery and every night there was a line. It moves quickly for the pizza. The bakery section you can pass by and it's a separate section. It's not touristy and the quality of food. I made a reservation to come to Roscioli Salumeria around a month before traveling to Rome since I had heard very good things about it (and have also been wanting to try the new location in NYC.) Even with this much time, I was able to only get a reservation for 2 for a late lunch at 2:30pm. My boyfriend and I arrived and were seated in the wine cellar downstairs which was super cute and felt very nice as we were in a room fully surrounded by different wine bottles. This room also felt a little more intimate and quiet compared to the upstairs bar area. Our server was really friendly and was attentive of our table the whole time. The menu is truly overwhelming with amazing options so we needed some time to decide. We got some Venetian white wine that was dry and refreshing, and for food we ordered: La burrata pugliese con pomodorini: this appetizer consisted of fresh burrata from Puglia and sun-dried tomatoes. The burrata was amazing-- truly one of the highest quality cheeses I have had: it was so creamy, and smooth with a nice firmer exterior. This was paired with the best sundried tomatoes which were still a little juicy, tangy, and not super sweet so they highlighted the sweetness of the burrata. The olive oil this came with was divine! Just what you want to have during your Italian vacation. 100/10 recommend! Bread basket: we paired the above with the bread basket which was also amazing. This was a generous sampler of a few different types of bread which tasted fresh and were all delicious. We got some focaccia, a more cornbread-like bread that had pieces of tomato, white bread, a heartier brown bread, and a sunflower seed bread. All had their charm and went very well with the burrata. Fiori di zucca: this was an exceptional appetizer as well. It consisted of 3 fried zucchini flowers stuffed with oxtail stew and paired with a cacio e pepe dip. The batter for the zucchini was crispy, a little sweet, and thin, and inside of it was a delicious zucchini flower. The filling of this was Roman style oxtail stew that had a tomato base and incredibly tender meat. We thought the cacio e Pepe dip really complemented this dish well! Would recommend! Fusillone: my boyfriend ordered this and apparently it's one of the newer items on the menu. This was a spiral pasta which was cooked perfectly al dente.... It was amazing! It came with boar sausage ragu that was tangy and a little sweet from the tomatoes with spice from the sausage. The smoked ricotta cheese really tied everything together nicely and gave it more complexity of flavor Gnocchi al pesto di fave e mandorle: I got the potato gnocchi with fava beans, almond pesto, green onions and bottarga which was also another new item and based on the description sounded perfect for the spring. The gnocchi were perfect: they were pillowy, soft, and had the best flavor. They held on to the almond pesto very well since this was a very thick and creamy sauce but was not a huge fan of the flavor of my sauce since it was too salty and I felt overpowered by the cured fish flavor. I feel like this would have been a lot better if they had struck a better balance of the fava bean and bottarga. The dish in principle has a lot of potential but I don't think the execution was the best. We were too full to try dessert but they did bring out a complimentary Roman biscuit with some thick chocolate sauce that was not sweet but had a rich cocoa flavor... loved this! It was an amazing palate cleanser. My boyfriend got a double espresso which he also loved. Overall, I really loved the food at Roscioli! The ingredients feel fresh and incredibly high quality, and the service was solid. My only complaint would be that my pasta was too salty (which I have seen other comments on before) but this was not the case with my boyfriend's so maybe it depends on what you order. We had a 9:30pm Resy and as I fell asleep on the tour bus we were on, I thought we'd be back in Rome with plenty of time to get to the restaurant. Well we ended with our best meal in Roma. There's a reason why you need to make reservationsmonths in advance.. We arrived at our designated seating time of 7 PM. There was already a line at the door. A good sign. As you came up to the door, the staff would greet you and efficiently escort you to your table. This is where the fun begins. The menu choices are unbelievably extensive. And the wine list matches the food list in its size and breath. . Simple but elegant. They also had some amazing Brunellos among their many wines from their Italian wine list as well as nice wines by the glass. Helping us navigate our meal was a delightful, professional and friendly waitperson named Daniela.. Everything we ordered was exceptional... from the prosciutto to the burrata with marinated tomato's and ham sliders. Our main courses were gnocchi, a truffled pasta and pasta carbonara. All the pastas are made in house. This all coupled w a bottle of Prosecco naturale ( not your usual prosecco as it is not forced carbonation so it's less bubbly) and a bottle of Sangiovese. On a recent visit, I went in for a classic Roman duo: cacio e pepe and gnocchetti all'amatriciana -- and both delivered with personality and precision. Cacio e Pepe was beautifully executed. For years we have wanted to dine with Roscioli, but we had never been able to secure a reservation. A note to the wise, make a reservation before you leave home if you want to dine here, which is exactly what we did. We wanted to dine in the wine cellar, which is an intimate space surrounded by wine bottles and soft lighting. Our server was Paola and what a delight she was. She was really at the top of her game - up beat, knowledgeable, and friendly. We both enjoyed two of their classics: the Burro e Parmigiano "Francescana" and the Carbonara. Remember you are in Italy where the pasta is cooked "al dente." If you would like it softer, please let your server know. We picked a very drinkable Pinot Grigio from the Alto Adige region to accompany our dinner. The wine was kept chilled in a very cute ice bag. My husband can never resist dessert. He ordered the Tiramisu, which was a huge portion and beyond delicious. They also served us two biscuits with chocolate sauce. The wine and food menus are extensive. We came here for our last meal in Rome. I would suggest making a reservation, they fill up fast. They have inside and outside dining. We chose to dine outside which I think was the better choice. Our waiter spoke English and Italian. He was constantly checking on us making sure we were ok. No coperto here. The food was very good. They had a large menu with lots of variety. I was tempted to try rabbit but didn't feel that would be good for a last meal. We went with pasta and meatballs with polenta. First time trying polenta and it was good. Very good pasta dinner and apps. We made reservations well ahead of time to avoid disappointment - many people were turned away as it was fully booked for dinner. We tried the cacio e pepe, a la gricia, burrata with sundried tomatoes, oxtail stuffed squash blossoms, and a gin and tonic. For dessert, they gave complimentary cookies with chocolate sauce. We also got an espresso. The apps were quite large and great quality - sundried tomatoes hit different in Italy. Everything was pure comfort food and we had excellent service. The meat counter and specialty/signature items were all very tempting. Bottles of wine are everywhere. Excited for their arrival in NYC, and plan to try more dishes there. read more

Even in "off season" this place is packed. I made a reservation one week in advance and there was only one available time slot for my entire 7 day vacation. And it was just me. People who didn't have reservations were politely turned away. The service was friendly and very quick considering how busy they were. The restaurant has a really cool vibe to it. Very welcoming. Charming. As for the food: The fried zucchini flowers were excellent. Tasty oxtail filling and delicious sauce too. I came for the carbonara which is supposed to be among the best in Rome. The guanciale was crispy and very good. The pasta was perfectly cooked. But the crema was overwhelmingly salty. No egg flavor. No pepper flavor. Just over powering saltiness. I would be willing to go back and try it again. I bet it was just an aberration. But because of this, I can only rate this 3 stars Oh. There is a saying, "when in Rome..." yeah, and this is the reason why they say. Some of the most incredible pastas in the world you will ever have. You must order the foie gras ravioli, and the Cacio e pepe. The best you will find in Rome! Just the most incredible dining experience to feel like a true woman that lives in the city and like an Italian. Friendly and knowledgeable service, and very, very cute atmosphere. We had the opportunity to eat at the Roscioli in New York and on our recent trip to Rome we were able to get a reservation at the original Roscioli. A cool restaurant/market. The inside is a little close quarters with more space at the back. A few bar seats are available as well. We ordered the bread to start which was fresh and delicious. The mortadella and caprese appetizers were delicious. The cacio e Pepe was the best I've ever had. The rigatoni was delicious as well. We split the meatballs which were great. We didn't order dessert but they surprised us with some chocolate sauce to snack on. Delicious meal. Highly recommend. Excellent service. read more

It's been 6 months since our honeymoon in Rome and I'm STILL dreaming of my dinner here. There's a reason reservations are booked months in advance. They are busy so the tables are close together and it's a tad warm inside, but it was August in a touristy town so I didn't expect much else. The food was the best I had in the city. So good, I was too busy eating to take pictures. We shared the oxtail ravioli and the cacio e pepe for our mains. OMG. If I could shrink myself down and swim in both dishes, I would. The only bad thing was this was our first dinner in Rome, so it really set the bar high. I might book a trip back just to eat here again. read more
