They also have a variety of other options on their menu that don't include sushi, but I just ordered a wrap, which you custom make yourself and choose what you want in it. The quality of the fish isn't bad, but the wraps aren't really filling. I've been to other places that sell sushi burritos and I thought they made it small, but the wraps they make here are smaller. The owner's wife was serving very small portions of everything, ridiculously small not even a spoon size. When I tried to get soy sauce from the counter she told me "I already gave you everything." When it comes to poke (poki), I don't slow my roll A hidden gem, quite literally. Located at the Oodles of Noodles Pho Restaurant plaza, Poki Roll is located in the middle of the strip mall. Thinking I was heading into a cramped, stuffy, no frills eatery, I was pleasantly surprised. Why? Because, like the last option on the scantron questions from many moons ago, Poki Roll was none of the above. Free soda with check-in Going in, I knew I wanted the $11 small poke bowl (with choice of 2 fish)/base roll combo. Miso soup included (unsure if also with take out) Spicy albacore/yellowtail bowl (small)- Small bowls only come with white rice, but nothing small about this ray of sunshine. I asked for everything on it, save for the jalapenos. Why, Rodney? Glad you asked. I asked for the spicy miso sauce, spicy mayo, basically all the other options that were spicy. Also, the roll I ordered had jalapeno, too. I feared too much heat would numb the palate, incapacitating my tastebuds. Everything tasted fresh, the fish packed with oceanic flavor. The 3 colored fish roe made my poke bowl seem festive. Mexican roll- Basically a crunch roll with flakes, the Mexican roll was a decent size, with rice that was perfect in texture & temperature. For the non-fish lovers, Poki Roll also offers chicken, beef, katsu & udon dishes. To satisfy the sweet tooth, boba smoothies & slushes are on hand to wash down your meal. Drinks are via cans, with a iced water dispenser by the utensils. Service was good. I was led through the ordering process, and the signage also helped break things down. A fair amount of seating, with private rooms accompanied with flatscreen TV's. A handsome décor adds a homey feeling to the restaurant. Parking is in a private lot, shared by Oodles of Noodles, a Laundromat & other businesses. Poke's gonna rock, poke's gonna roll! Poke's so hot, so don't let it go! Yelp Challenge 2016 23/116 Soft grand opening lured us into this hidden gem on Lincoln in Cypress. It is really hard to spot unless your already in the parking lot. Nestled away downstairs in a small plaza between the laundromat and a liqour store. Don't let the looks fool ya. It is actually pretty cool inside. Brand spankin new, Brightly colored wall menu, fresh Poki bar visable to your eyes and cool peeps. Service was awesome from the moment we walked in the door. Everyone was welcoming and very genuine. They really went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. Plenty of seating available from small tables, to big tables, to a Checker game table. They also offer a couple of tiny private rooms to eat in. Perfect to study, party in in or for a family with small children. Looks like about 10 peeps can fit in them. So its a Poki place. Majority of the menu is Poki and Sushi. You order at the counter, pay and wait. Poki bowls are constructed right before your eyes. Choose a size, then a base, pick your Poki, sauce then top it off. Lots and lots of toppings available. If your a big eater, order a side dish or a few hand rolls to get your fill. If your not into sushi, like me. Don't worry, you can still get your fill with your fish loving companion by dining on a variety of treats. Spicy chicken bowl, chicken teriyaki, bulgoki, tonkatsu, Udon, garlic edamame are a few of them. The small Bulgoki for $7.00 is a perfect size for a smaller appetite. If your hungry go with the large for $9.00. Bowls are stuffed with rice then topped with meat, sliced carrots, broccoli and a few mushrooms. Super tastey. 3 Roll hand combo for $7.95 was a great deal and was a great ending to the large Poki Bowl. So how much is it? Thats the question we all wanna know. Now that I'm back in the office, I'm looking for places I can quickly grab to-go orders on my way home. I found Poki Roll yesterday and was happy with this little gem! There was a guest in front of me being served, and the sushi chef was busy making rolls for that customer's order. He asked me what I'd like to order and I started going through my poke bowl orders. Once he got to the fish selection I questioned if he'd be able to remember since he was multi-tasking while making rolls -- suffice to say he got it perfect once he started working on my poke bowls, so just know he has a great memory! :) Onto the food itself, I was happy that the fish was fresh and the large size bowl was actually large (think roughly 8" diameter). Lately I've only found places where the fish sometimes isn't super fresh or is cut in a way that you get a lot of those stringy fibers you can't eat, but I didn't have this problem here! For toppings Poki Roll has some different ones, mostly focused on a variety of pickled items (shredded white raddish, yellow radish, and most notably fukujinzuke, which you may have had if you've ever had Japanese curry and katsu dishes). I love fukujinzuke and I would never have thought it'd pair so well with poke -- yum! Overall I'd come back, so happy I found this spot on my commute! read more

With so many poke (or poki) places popping up everywhere, I knew it wouldn't take long to replace my current poke place. I was a regular at Poki Yaki but I'm going to have to switch my loyalty to this place. The price is pretty comparable but this place also has a good selection of rolls, some chicken and beef bowls, udon, and boba drinks. Plus, the service here is phenomenal. The owners are very accommodating and try their best to satisfy their customers. Poke bowls are "build-your-own" like so many other poke places but this place has some unique items like cilantro and wasabi masago, which aren't common at other places. Toppings don't cost extra but you do have to pay extra $1 if you want additional amount of crabmeat or avocado. Poke bowls come in small, medium, and large. For base you can get white rice, brown rice, chips, salad, half/half, or get it as a wrap. Small bowl only comes with rice. I wanted to try both a poke bowl and a roll so I went with the Small Poki with 1 Base Roll combo. It was a pretty good deal at $11. I got my Poki with salmon, yellowtail, and all the toppings with Original Sauce (spicy). The fish tasted fresh and all the toppings tasted great together. Even the rice was fantastic. It was slightly cool, firm, and chewy, which is my preference. I can't stand places that give warm, mushy rice with my poke. I got the Mexican Roll with my combo. It has spicy crab meat, avocado, jalapeno, and crunch flakes. I'm actually not a big fan of rolls but I really liked this one. I liked the fact the crunch flakes were actually quite crunchy. I rarely had luck with any type of crunchy rolls. I've had too many that were either too soft or powdery. This place got it just right. Not surprising given the fact the owner/chef was a sushi chef for 20 years. I can't recommend the boba drinks because they seem to be made with either syrup or powder, and they only come as a slush or smoothie. I won't knock any points for this since I'm not judging this place for its drinks. Besides, I got it as a free check in offer, and they tried their best to make the drink right for me. As I mentioned before, service was fantastic and super accommodating. From the outside this place doesn't look like much. The whole shopping center actually looks a bit sketchy. However, the inside of this place is very clean and modern, with a cozy feel. It looks more like a Korean coffee house than a poke place. There are couches and even has two private rooms. I just hope it doesn't draw in people that only buy one item and hog up the place for hours. This place is still in its soft opening phase so the menu and price will most likely change as they test things out. So far it's doing a pretty good job, and I'm definitely coming back to try some of the premium rolls and Spicy Chicken Bowl. read more

Roe (3 types), fresh avocados, crab salad, Japanese style pickles, quality, sashimi grade tuna / scallops / yellow tail, etc. Never over sauced and always so dang oishi. The food is delicious for the price and all the employees are super friendly. The chef and manager came by to check up on me a few times and they both seemed genuinely proud of their new restaurant. I had extremely high expectations before trying Poki Roll but it fell flat for me in terms of taste and service. My mom and I came in and there wasn't anyone in line to order. We both got a bowl each, and the staff member making the bowls would ask what we wanted at the same time instead of asking for one bowl at a time, adding the ingredients, and then asking for Bowl number 2. Because of this, the proteins that my mom wanted ended up going into my bowl. I let him know and all he did was pick the fish out and then replace it with the correct fish. I did notice that he didn't cleanly scoop everything out and there were tiny little bits of salmon in my bowl. I don't have an allergy but I really dislike the taste of salmon. Although I'm not allergic, I don't like that he assumed it was fine and did not make a fresh bowl or even ask if it was okay. The same system happened for the sauces and the toppings. He asked what we wanted in Bowl 1 and Bowl 2, and then started adding to the bowls. I said no cilantro on mine, and my mom wanted cilantro. Surprise, surprise, I see that he added cilantro to both bowls. At that point I just didn't even speak up and picked out the cilantro when I got home. It's just a lot more efficient dealing with one bowl first and finish making it before moving on to the second bowl. He is just confusing himself and making it harder to remember what should go where. I did like the fact that there were plenty of toppings / add ons to choose from, but the fish tasted previously frozen. My octopus and yellowtail had this sponginess that I could tell was frozen and then thawed. Not sure if this applied to the more popular fish like salmon or tuna. Overall, just okay and nothing to rave about. I wish I loved this place more but my experience here makes me wonder if all these 5 star reviews are just because of the $1.99 California Roll deal if you leave a Yelp review. read more

Got a very generous portion of topping on my Poke bowl. She also suggested me to try some Salmon Skin and I loved its texture and salty flavor it adds to the bowl. Highly recommend trying it! I also recommend mixing different sauce to create your own flavor. Today I felt like Original, Ponzu, and Spicy Mayo mix. Which was right on spot. The sizes for the bowls come in small, medium, or large. They also have combos like a small Poki bowl with a side of sushi (specific sushi rolls for combo). The poke bowl depending on the size comes w 2, 3, or 4 proteins. Overall, it was good plus the sushi(Mexican roll), not the best but it does the job. Ordered through Yelp, which I really love, order was ready quickly, and all of our food was there BUT we were missing a side of spicy Mayo, both poke bowls appeared to have been made without any sauce on them at all, or very very little sauce. I ordered octopus on my poke bowl (something I always consider a risk) and it was very over cooked, tough as rubber. The sushi roll I ordered was great, simple, and tasty.
