Our most favorite Ramen spot for the past 15 years, that must tell ya something! The foods are always meticulously prepared and the service is friendly. They started the 1 free kid meal per family since last year so it has been a great place for families with kids. I wish they would continue to give free ice cream like they used to as that made every visit end with a high note for the kiddos. I think at some point they changed ownership so then they added some Korean items to their menu, but overall the food was still amazing. The place is not very big so it could be packed during lunch or dinner time. Highly recommend you guys to check out this place if you haven't already.

Best cold noodles I've had the pleasure of trying. If you're in OC definitely come by and try it out

The ramen was good. I love the fact that they give kids a free bowl of ramen. I'm not sure how this was determined and what factors they took for considerations. My baby needed a high chair, so they offered her a free bowl of ramen! Quick service. Highly recommend

The ramen and curry are always delicious. We tried fried squid but did not like it much. The legs were big but not as crispy as we expected it. The staff are very nice and friendly. The store is clean and well decorated as usual. They still have free kid's meals but no more free ice cream :)

I visited on a Friday evening right after they opened and it was perfect timing, no wait and we were promptly seated. The staff were friendly and service was quick from start to finish. One of the highlights was the complimentary Mango Cart ice foam they added to my draft beer. It was something totally new to me and such a fun twist! I would definitely order it again. Also my child got a complimentary ramen and appetizer. The ramen was savory and top tier, just as expected. Everything was well-portioned and reasonably priced for the quality. Overall, a great experience and I highly recommend!

I love getting ramen from Gomen whenever I am in the vicinity. It's a bit ways out from where I live nowadays but my visits never disappoint. Their service attentiveness and swiftness is quite consistent. This is a family friendly establishment that is almost always bustling no matter what time of the day and week I go. Some days you will see more office workers having a lunch out and some days you will see more families dining out. The seatings inside is not cramped and nicely decorated. I love how they have numerous Black Jack manga series in-print and other Japanese manga books I can read while I wait. Unfortunately or fortunately speaking, once the order is placed, the order comes out FAST!!! I am a fast reader but never gotten through 10 pages at most. And that's on busy days too. It's honestly impressive how fast the turnaround time they consistently have and I very much appreciate that about Gomen ramen. The food itself is absolutely wonderful. I love their takoyaki and any and all of their ramen offerings. I have yet to try their cha-han / fried rice dishes and really want to the next time. Gomen also has a nice lunch combo menu that's really popular. It's a good value given the amount of food you get and the appetizers you can try out. Love it! Ramen toppings and soup can be modified or swapped if you ask nicely. If it isn't their standard protocol, the server is more than happy to ask the chef in the kitchen if it is possible. I really love that about their willingness to accommodate unlike many other ramen restaurants in the area. Food allergies, mere preferences, or not, Gomen will try to ensure you have a nice meal. I am looking forward to revisiting again in the future and wouldn't hesitate to bring my friends and family here.

Gomen Ramen in Stanton **A Hidden Gem with Serious Credentials** Saw a post about this place on instagram, the sign says 中華そば Gomen, and it instantly clicked. I remembered spotting it also once while driving home from Disneyland along Katella. A quick search blew my mind: Gomen, which opened in 2002, is actually the only overseas branch officially recognized by Ide Shoten, a legendary ramen shop from Wakayama, Japan (founded in 1953)! 〒640-8329 和歌山県和歌山市田中町4丁目84 Right now, they're offering a $7.99 ramen lunch special (Mon, Wed-Fri from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM). At that price, especially in Orange County, I assumed it'd be a small bowl. But since Stanton isn't too far from me, I decided to check it out. The place is small and cozy. Before you walk in, you'll spot a proud little sign in the corner window: Champion of the '98 & '99 Nationwide Ramen Competition in Japan - TV Tokyo "Ichiban (Best) Ramen in the World" - BBC (Yep, I found the BBC article too and took a screenshot!) Got seated quickly and noticed from the wall photos that it's a family-run spot. I just made it before their 2 PM break, and there were still several tables dining. To save time, I ordered the Tonkotsu Miso Ramen Lunch Special (other options include Tonkotsu Soy Ramen and Tonkotsu Salt Ramen). Service was fast. The bowl size was standard, definitely not small and came with three slices of chashu! The broth was rich and savory, the noodles had a nice bite and honestly, super satisfying and such a great deal. Anywhere else nearby, ramen of this quality easily goes for $15+. Even outside lunch hours, it's still affordable, the same Tonkotsu Miso Ramen is just $11.95. Bonus: They currently have a Kids Meal Promo (12 & under eat FREE!), normally priced at $9.95. Definitely adding this place to my revisit list. If you live or work nearby, check it out for lunch (or takeout!). Gomen 7147 Katella Ave, Stanton, CA 90680 To-go phone orders: (714) 761-8007

Friendly & attentive staff. They sat us right away, 3 of 9 were there; we didn't need our whole party to be there to get seated! World Series game 7 was on, they didn't mind us cheering... our order came out in a timely manner, hot & fresh. Their portions are BIG/shareable! Cozy place. Turn around for customers was quick. Restrooms could use some TLC.

Perfect night for ramen with the brisk cold outside to the warm cozy vibes instead Still wonderful upbeat service Efficient with ordering Photos match the item ordered so not a surprise Complimentary popsicle or mochi :) Orders come out quick even with large and small parties filling the room Orders can be placed online Different specials and expanded menu it would seem Only con the kimchi rice has been taken off the menu but understood why Hybrid ramen for thin slices of pork plenty of veggies and few slices of fish cake was hearty reasonable value in price and easily shareable! Will return again to try something else :)

Haven't been here in a few years and came back specifically to try the jjajang ramen. Ordered the large with the intent of bringing some home to share. Service was quick and food was hot. Taste was great; enjoyed the zucchini and mushrooms. Disappointed with the additional charge for takeout containers; while prominently posted, it feels a little "nickel and dimey" after a $20 order.

The Original Deluxe Ramen

This place is was such a hidden gem. It's small but the service was great and they have tons of options to choose from for all your ramen noodle cravings. They have a bookshelf of manga comic books as soon as you walk in and are playing anime on the tv. Got the Original Deluxe ramen with the double chashu pork!! and my wife got the Kakuni Deluxe! We both thoroughly enjoyed our food and experience. Finished with a complimentary Ube and Matcha Mochi Ice cream! Would recommend!

Complimentary dessert for summertime- popsicle or mochi ice cream. This is ube mochi ice cream (half eaten already, sorry!)
Linda T.

An old favorite, we've been coming here for years & I can't believe I never left a review before! The ramen is always tops and the sides are authentic and yummy. The eggs in the ramen are hard boiled though. The interior is the perfect lighting level, easy to see everything but the harsh summer sunlight is block away and it's very pleasant. Always anime on the video screen and pop music on the audio- a little something for everyone! Summertime there is a complimentary ice-cream after your meal, be sure to ask!

The fried rice is a little too seasoned with soy sauce now and lost its smokiness, fluffiness and balance. Did Gomen change chefs recently? Everything got saltier.

Avacado Bomb is a must try here It is a deep-fried avocado, sliced in half and stuffed with cream cheese and crab meat, then topped with a savory sauce. I am a person who like to try food new. It's a small place with a handful of seating, very clean with a wonderful ramen house ambiance. I'm sure the atmosphere is different when it's packed, but it was nice and quiet when we got there which made for good conversation and a great experience. I decided on the Shasho Ramen, and my son chose the Katsu Don plate. There's a 1-20 scale for the spice level, I chose 20 as I'm dead inside. Spice is subjective, so don't blame me if your experience is different, but I didn't find it all that particularly spicy - what I did find though was some wonderfully flavored broth with a perfect blend of spice and notes from the vegetables and other spices. The noodles were cooked proper, and everything was warm and fresh! My son said his katsu was perfectly cooked as well, nice and crunchy and not overly fried. The service was on point, they were on top of things and we were never left wanting. Honestly I'm really happy to have finally made the time to stop in; I will certainly be returning, and I hope to see you there! :)

The salmon carpaccio and spicy edamame we ordered as appetizers was also solid. I ordered their signature lamb shank noodles, lamb rib noodles, and the lamb tripe soup…read more The lamb shank and ribs were super tender, flavorful, and not gamey at all. The broth is rich and almost like a red-braised stew, though a bit on the salty side -- it would've been perfect with a Chinese sesame flatbread! The noodles themselves are basically instant noodles, nothing special I'm guessing they don't actually make hand-pulled noodles here. The lamb tripe soup has a slightly stronger lamb taste, but adding some cucumber and lemon helps balance it out. The flavor is quite unique -- not the clear broth style we get in China, but more of a saucy, braised type of soup. The tacos were surprisingly good, very close to what you get in Mexico. I tried beef, beef intestine, beef head, and pork tongue. The beef head was gelatinous and flavorful, and the intestine tasted great -- nicely seared, fragrant, bouncy, and absolutely no funky smell. Overall, it's a spot worth trying. Mexican flavors generally suit our palate well, but the noodle dishes are on the salty side, so having extra drinks definitely helps!

We ordered a black ramen, a spicy tonkatsu, and a Jessica roll. They have a deal where, if you buy a ramen or udon, you get a specialty roll at half off. The sushi was very mediocre; the ginger was extremely dry; it's not bad for the half-off price, but I wouldn't pay full price for the sushi. The ramen however, was really good. The spicy tonkatsu had the perfect amount of spice, the black ramen had an umami flavor that didn't overpower the ramen. The eggs were cooked perfectly, just a little solid yolk, but still runny enough. I have to say, walking into an empty restaurant, where they advertised a new mozzarella stick appetizer, I was extremely skeptical. I was afraid that it would not be an authentic experience, but I have to say, the ramen was really good! While the ramen was good, the service was a little lacking. Even though there were only 2 other customers, no one checked in on us during the meal. Server was nowhere near us, and so we did run out of water, with no refill. to be seen.
